Drag show: ‘highlight’ of the week Shae Brennan Reporter To raise awareness for testicular cancer and LGBTQ rights, eight CSC students dressed up as the opposite gender for the night and put on a show for the Cancer’s A Drag event Thursday in the Student Center Ballroom. With over 100 students in attendance, it could be argued that this was one of the more popular events on campus. You missed out on quite the performance if you didn’t go to this event. Similar to a real pageant, each contestant participated in a catwalk, an interview, and a talent portion that consisted of dancing, lots of dancing. Some of the ‘women’ contestants even bared their chests during their performances in order to gain the audience’s praise. While there were numerous applause-worthy performances from the eight contestants, one performer stood out from all the rest. Paris.

During the interview portion of the contest, Paris, aka Hector Bustillos, 21, senior of Gillette, Wyoming, was asked what constitutes true beauty. Paris’ response was, “Bomb-ass highlight and contour.” The crowd went absolutely crazy for it. Paris’ dance performance to “Into You” by Ariana Grande was clearly a crowd favorite, with good reason, as the number was obviously rehearsed numerous times and was nearly performed without a flaw. It was no surprise when the king and queen were announced. Paris was crowned queen and presented a glittering, highheeled shoe for the second year. The runner-up for queen was The Revolution, aka Devin Fulton, 20, freshman of Glenrock, Wyoming. Duo act Billy Bob, aka Leslie Beckman, 18, freshman of Nampa, Idaho and Billy Joe, aka Mikaela Franzen, 19, freshman of Gurley were crowned king. Runner-up for king was Benjamin, aka Katelynn Mendenhall, 18, freshman of Terry, Montana.
