Organic chemistry involves the study of the structure, properties, and reactions of organic compounds. Students enrolled in CSC’s CHEM 334 are also required to enroll concurrently in CHEM 334L, the Organic Chemistry II Lab, taught by Zachary Varpness, associate professor of physical and life sciences. According to enrollment records, 19 students are taking the course. Daniel Regier, one of the students in the class, said that students are able to become more independent the further along in the semester they are. “We’ve done chem lab all semester, so now we don’t need partners and try to complete labs on our own,” Regier said.
