SENATE DISCUSSES LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE, SMOKING, CAMPUS FACILITIES Spike Jordan Managing Editor

Student government members that attended the Nebraska State College System Leadership Conference at Peru State on Oct. 18 and 19, spoke Monday about the experience.

Dani Buckley, vice-chair of programing, said that Peru’s CAB is more student centric, than club based. Clubs at Peru that receive funds from CAB are not required to attend regular meetings, and Buckley said that the executive board is discussing possible changes to CAB’s policy for the spring semester.

Senate President Jacob Rissler said that Peru’s senate allows freshmen senators to vote, but that CSC would not be adopting that practice.

“I tried to secure voting rights for freshmen senators when I was on the constitution consolidation committee last year, but I decided not to fight that battle," Rissler said.

Also discussed at the Peru Conference were campus-smoking restrictions.

State law prohibits smoking within 10 feet of the entrance to a public building.

While most of the senators who spoke dur-

ing open discussion were in favor of adopting stricter regulations, Nate Jones, senate vice-president, said that it would be difficult for the senate to move forward because it is unclear whose jurisdiction it would be to enforce the regulations.

“I’m not a smoker, but if you are going to make a change, make it fair," Garret Lower, senator of BEAMS, said.

Rissler said that he spoke with Dale Grant, vice president of administration and finance, and discussed the possibility of constructing a gazebo or covered area to serve as a designated smoking area.

Rissler and Jones spoke about Peru's student government's relations with their campus newspaper; The Peru State Times.

Rissler and Jones said that The Peru State Times is supportive of their student government. On Wednesday, The Eagle contacted Kristi Nies, adviser for The Peru State Times.

She said that the statements made by Rissler and Jones were incorrect.

"We publish four times a semester, and student senators occasionally submit articles," Nies said, but add that this practice was as a public service, rather than a promotion.

"We do not have a set policy on covering

senate meetings or events," Nies said.

Rissler spoke about both paper's content.

"We've got our campus, that publishes negative articles, and there's no real oversight," Rissler said.

"Their paper, it doesn't matter opinion or news, it has to be approved by the administration before the can publish it."

Nies said this was also incorrect, and that administrative approval is not required before The Peru State Times publishes.

Jones said that when The Peru State Times publishes opinions, they are required to have contrasting opinion represented.

"The Peru State Times has no policy requiring both sides of an issue be presented," Nies said.

Nies said that Jones was probably referring to a feature column where two Times staff writers discuss opposite sides of an issue.

When Rissler and Jones were contacted Wednesday, they said they had also spoke to Nies and said that they both had misunderstood initial information they were given.

Rissler apologized for relaying the inaccuracies, and said he will be issuing a formal statement at next week's meeting.

Josh Keating, senator of liberal arts, deliv-

ered a report about the campus Facilities, Safety and ADA Compliance Committee meeting he attended.

Keating discussed the progress being made on campus construction projects, possible FEMA aid for Winter Storm Atlas cleanup, and the continued issues with broken elevators on campus.

Marcella Luton, Kent Hall senator, said that the Kent elevator being broken creates a hassle for injured athletes living on the third floor.

Aaron Prestwich, senior director of student affairs, said that the elevator issues were caused by power outages. High Rise elevator renovations will be completed soon, while others are part of an ongoing project, Prestwich said.

Rissler said that he spoke with state legislative representative Al Davis, and discussed a possible Atlas cleanup for Crawford. Susan Shaeffer, senate adviser, said that the senate should ask the community for input.

Buckley delivered the CAB report and said that 112 students participated in free bowling night last Saturday at Saya Lanes, and 285 students attended free movie night. CAB will host another free bowling night in November.

Alarm system tripped, no sign of fire Firefighters arrived at the Student Center Monday morning due to a trip in the alarm system in the ductwork Jack Rhembrandt, assistant chief said.

There was no fire to report Rhembrandt said, however, he is not completely sure what caused the alarm to go off in the Ballroom.

Rhembrandt said people were doing work on the h-vacuum, which might have set the system off.

Crewmembers silenced the alarm and reset the panel.

“It is important for us to hear your stories and why you did what you did,” Ressler said.

In each design, students used aspects such as the colors of the Wind Cave Park area, the nature and outdoors, a sense of calm, and a secure yet free feeling.

After each student presented, Herman went through each design and said what worked, what didn’t, and added some suggestions the students could use. She described some designs as modern, engaging, potential, and thinking outside the box. Ressler and Herman took the logo designs so that they could show the marketing committee. They are hoping to have a decision on which logo the marketing committee likes best by the end of the semester—the logo the committee chooses will be the new face of the BHPFA.

On a sunny and very hot Sept. 5 day, the ART 422: Graphic Design Practicum class took a trip to Wind Cave National Park in South Dakota.

Mary Donahue, professor of visual and performing arts, and 12 students partook in tours of the park, including a large cave, all to get a sense of what the park was about.

It was not just a fun trip, the students had to pay close attention to what was said and everything around them that they could use in their logo designs.

Baldwin and current BHPFA director Patty Ressler, worked with Donahue on how to incorporate the project into the class. The project had students create a logo that could be officially used by BHPFA, as well as placed on merchandise in the gift shop.

Army Major Raymond Phillips, associate professor of military science and 2003 CSC graduate, will be leaving his position as an ROTC instructor at CSC on Nov. 4.

Phillips received orders to fill a position in Lincoln as the new facilities, maintenance, and construction officer for the Nebraska National Guard. His duties at the college are ending due to a National Guard directive stating that technicians could no longer instruct ROTC courses, he said. Phillips has taught military science and leadership at CSC since Fall 2008, starting with six cadets. In the last five years he has seen the Phillips ranks of the program swell to today’s 34 cadets.

Major Jeremy Bryan, associate professor of military science, was transferred to CSC at the beginning of the semester from the Mt. Rushmore Army ROTC battalion in Rapid City, S.D., where he has served in various capacities since 2006.

Bryan, a 2001 South Dakota School of Mines graduate, has been helping Phillips teach the 10 MSL courses offered through ROTC, and will assume the primary instructor role once Phillips leaves.

Bryan will be assisted by 1st Lt. Nate Reicks, an active duty National Guard officer and 2011 University of Nebraska at Kearney graduate. Riecks has been assigned one-year orders to teach ROTC, and will receive additional instructor training at Ft. Knox, Ky., in December.

Everyone makes mistakes

At Monday night’s Senate meeting, I made a statement during our State Colleges Conference presentation saying that the Peru State Times must have prior approval from the PSC administration before publishing, and that they must also publish the opposing point of view in their opinion articles.

After further research, the original information presented, requiring approval and opposing articles, was proven to be false.

I am making this statement to correct those statements in our presentation. Peru State Times neither needs approval from the PSC administration for articles reflecting poorly on the school or its affiliates, nor is required to publish two sides to opinions.

I apologize for the incorrect information and take full responsibility for correcting that statement.” ­—Jacob Rissler, CSC Student Association President The Eagle see’s Mr. Rissler’s accountability as a step in the right direction, and hope that we can foster a better relationship with the student government in the future.

The myth that has been propagated is that The Eagle has, for want of a better phrase, “an axe to grind” against the student government. It is simply that: a myth.

While the editorial is not always actively supportive of the decions made by the student government, we are also not obligated to take a supportive role.

When a person gains a celebrity status, they are instantly thrust into the public eye.

Every action they make from then on, from their personal behavior to the money they spend, becomes the subject of public interest.

The same can be said for an elected official, be it the mayor of a small town or the leader of a student government. Journalists serve as watchdogs for society, ensuring that the public is informed about the decisions these elected officials make and the money that they spend.

If you are elected to a government, you are a public official, and your actions are always subject to scrutiny.

A positive outlook helps you cope with the unexpected

M

ore than once, I have been told I am too happy, that I smile too often, or that I have way too much perkiness. I’ve been compared to an over-active puppy dog; annoyingly full of energy and happiness.

I used to think this was negative criticism, but my perspective and my outlook on life changed when my best friend and sister-in-law Sheri was diagnosed with breast cancer.

It was March, and Sheri had told me the week before midterm break that she had found a lump in one of her breasts and would have tests ran to make sure it was nothing. I honestly didn’t think much of it, after all, Sheri was a healthy, active, 34-year-old mother to two little girls, Taryn and Teagan, and she had no family history of breast cancer.

I remember sitting in my friend Katie’s kitchen when Sheri called. She immediately broke down over the phone and told me the test results confirmed the worst; she had cancer. That evening, Sheri pulled me aside and said words to me I never wanted nor expected to hear, “If I don’t beat this…please move in with your brother, because the girls are going to need a mother-figure in their lives.”

For several months, my sister-in-law faced hard-hitting times. She had stage three-breast cancer, which had spread to her lymph nodes and within a few weeks of her diagnosis, she had a double-mastectomy. By Teagan’s second birthday,

Sheri was beginning chemotherapy.

After the semester ended in May, I moved to the eastern side of the state to help out. I watched as Sheri lost her breasts, her hair, and her health, and it made me question the fairness of life.

My annoyingly positive outlook seemed to disappear.

Why did this happen to such an amazing young female? It was not fair: not fair to her, not fair to Taryn and Teagan, and as her admittedly selfish best friend, not fair to me. I spent the summer feeling frustrated, angry, and hurt that a person I loved dearly was in so much pain and sickness.

And yet, Sheri didn’t see it that way.

As her battle with cancer continued, everyday, she became a little stronger. She used her life story to reach out to other breast cancer patients, especially those mothers similar to her. They were all just trying to survive, raise their small children, and live life to its fullest. When I asked Sheri about her positive outlook, her never-ending faith, and her desire to help others in similar situations, she simply shrugged her shoulders and told me she is just trying to pay it forward.

It is now the end of October. For many, today is a day of dressing up, eating candy, and watching scary movies. For me, today is the last day of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a month dedicated to many women and families similar to my sister-in-law. Sheri has finished chemotherapy, moved forward with clean

What has this experience taught me?

That life is full of unexpected surprises.

How we choose to handle these situations may be the only control we truly have in our lives. Watching my sister-inlaw use her strength, courage, and even humor has inspired me to try and be a better person. She is an inspiration to me, and so many others, especially her two little girls.

I am certain people still see me as annoyingly happy. I now take that as a sincere compliment. After all, as cliché as this may sound, life is truly a gift and we should be nothing less than positive and full of happiness.

Live your lives to the fullest, surround yourself with good people, and when the unexpected comes, embrace it.

Don’t crucify graduate students on a cross of fees

W

hen I was an undergraduate, I worked four jobs.

I worked at the CSC Print Shop, at the Sandoz Center, at Wreckers Roadhouse, and as an assistant to the geography professor.

Between those jobs, my savings before I got to college, and a little help from my folks, I graduated without debt.

I won’t be able to say the same as a graduate student.

You see, when I signed the contract to become a graduate student, the contract said that I had a tuition waiver. It did, however, state that I was responsible for all fees. It seemed a reasonable deal: paying the student activity fees, the technology fees, etc., is a minor cost and only fair.

Imagine my surprise when I found out I owed more than $700.

After talking it over with the Business Office, Human Resources and Accounts Due, I discovered that about half of that $700 is “tuition fees.” Apparently, we have to pay about $50 a credit hour for the “benefit” of having online classes, and that’s credited as a “tuition fee.”

It is used to pay for Sakai, which makes sense — as any professor or student can tell you, Sakai never messes up in any way whatsoever, and Sakai is so much more costly than sticking classes in a physical room that has to be heated, cooled and cleaned and where you have to pay fulltime faculty to teach it.

Wait, no, that’s the opposite of true.

Here are the facts. In a study by Tana Bishop of the University of Maryland University College, done at the University of California, Davis, found that the cost per passing student to the college was $105 for a face-to-face course and only $99 for online courses. The college is saving money on online classes. However, the incremental costs of online courses grow more slowly for online courses than they do for face-to-face courses, so a thousand more students taking online classes would cost the college a lot less than a thousand more students taking face-to-face classes.

Not only that, but online classes aren’t as useful as they seem. A study by J. Moody in The Quarterly Review of Distance Education shows that students drop out of online classes at a greater rate than face-to-face classes.

Add into all of this that most graduate classes are only offered online, and a clear picture emerges: the college baitand-switches its graduate students with “tuition fees” they can’t avoid, and offers them a lesser educational product in exchange.

This is important because the onlineonly model that the state college system is switching to relies on graduate assistants and adjunct professors. Full-time, tenured professors are increasingly a rarity in the system, and those that remain are

Recently I feel feminism, in most cases, has just become a group of women that find their sole purpose in complaining about and belittling men on the grounds of some believed slight. In last week’s edition of The Eagle you ran an article titled Cat Calls don’t impress, they come off as creepy by Sara Labor.

In the article, Ms. Labor jokingly refers to herself as a “femi-nazi.” As I read the paper, I began to associate this new word with the degenerated variety of feminism I just described.

The entire article was about how much she detests most men. She doesn’t like pet names and she can’t stand cat calls. Fine, but it’s a double standard. If a man cat calls a woman he is being disrespectful but if a man is on the receiving end of a female’s salacious comments, it’s no big deal. They are only paying him a compliment, right?

This is a task we’re happy to do. Not only are we dedicated to furthering our own education, but we want to help others succeed too. I have to say that my job is rewarding in a way that none other I’ve had has been. When I see the students in my department progress, I feel like my work has worth that no other job I’ve done possesses.

However, it remains that I, and the other graduate assistants, shouldn’t have to go into debt to do it. The state college system depends on us, and will do so even further as time goes on. It shouldn’t lawyer and squirm out of its contractual obligations to us. “Tuition fees” are tuition. Waive them.

do everything that a man can, and according to our laws no one can say otherwise. Women now have just as much of a say in their futures as men.

Pet names, like those in “A Doll’s House,” can no longer be used to bring women down unless they themselves accept it. The fact is, pet names have just become a way to address someone. It is up to the recipient to discern the context of the name. Most men and women who use pet names on strangers are only using them to make an interaction more pleasant.

Sometime after I read the article, the author and I had a rather heated debate on the subject. After about an hour of discussion, we discerned it was all for naught. Though both of us raised some very good points, in the end neither of us had convinced the other of anything. I left feeling very unfulfilled. I thought about it for some time after, and finally I realized why the article ground on so many of my gears.

The article was solely convicting men on their immature comments, demanding that they “grow up.”

If, Ms. Labor, is indeed the feminist she claims to be in her article and she believes in gender equality, then why is her article so one-sided?

Superstitious fast facts Black cats are often seen as symbols of bad luck. Despite the numerous Halloween decorations of black cats, their reputations cast them as demonic animals—especially when in the company of single women.

Although pumpkin carving is a fun occasion, the origin of the jack-o-lantern is not as fun as it seems. A drunken farmer named Jack, who was claimed to have tricked the devil, was turned away from heaven and hell when he died because of his trickery act.

Wandering the Earth aimlessly, Jack carved a face into a turnip and lit it with the glow of a burning coal tossed to him from hell. However, on the brighter side, jack-o-lanterns are also used to scare evil spirits away through the Halloween night.

Bats. Cute? Scary? Clichéd? Well, if a bat was seen flying over a house it was said that the house was haunted. It also meant that someone in the house was going to die soon.

Spiders, while they are not everyone’s favorite species on the Earth, others can’t get enough of them. Despite the preference, if a spider is seen burned in the thick wax of a candle, there is a witch nearby.

However, if someone sees a spider on Halloween it means that the spirit of a deceased loved one is watching over the person.

Bobbing for apples—a fun activity to get anyone laughing—was actually a source for determining the future. If the person caught an apple then their luck of finding true love was much higher than a person who was unable to bite an apple on the first try.

Wearing a mask on Halloween is said to ward off spirits because the ghosts believe that the person is also a spirit; therefore, not taking their soul.

It’s Halloween—time for the spooks, candy, apple cider, and fun.

How did Halloween come about? Also known as “All Hallows Eve,” Halloween falls directly before “All Saints Day,” which is known to honor all saints and martyrs from years before.

The Celts, a large group of people who date back more than 2,000 years ago, celebrated their new year on Nov. 1 because it signified the coming of winter, the end of harvest, and commonly the death of humans.

They also saw Oct. 31 as a day where the line between the living and the dead could be crossed.

The Celts believed that celebrating Samhain [Oct. 31] could help Celtic priests determine the future easier because the dead walked the Earth.

To avoid encountering ghosts during this time, people would wear masks when they left their houses so that the ghosts would assume they too are spirits.

Halloween was first introduced to America in the early nineteenth century, when immigrants came to America.

Moving away from celebrating harvest, Halloween was transformed into a celebration of spooky stories, tricks, candy, costumes, and parties.

Although the cost of Halloween differs between then and now, each cost is high: the loss of crops, and possibly human life, compared to now where people spend about $6 million annually on the holiday.

Today, Halloween is a time for trick-or-treaters to wander the streets and sidewalks, decked out in their best costumes, searching for candy to fill their bags.

For older people, it’s a time to get together, dressed up or not, have a party, and drink until the sun comes back up.

Eagles one spot away from making playoffs Jordyn Hulinsky Sports Editor The Eagles improve their record to 6-2 after a 3124 win against New Mexico Highlands University, Las Vegas, Saturday.

For his performance in the victory, Bryant Miller, senior of Bayard, was named the RMAC Defensive Player of the Week. He posted 12 tackles, a sack, and an interception.

Glen Clinton, senior of Cody, Wyo., was named the Nebraska Division II Player of the Week. He tallied 157 rushing yards for two touchdowns and 26 receiving yards.

Jonn McLain, senior of Chadron, threw 20 completions for 155 yards and two TDs. Shea Koch, senior of Custer, S.D., led the defense with 13 tackles and one sack.

Eight players were selected as part of the RMCA All-Academic First Team. The offensive members are McLain, who was honored as the All-Academic Player of the Year in 2012; Clinton, who was placed on the team for the third straight

year; Cody Roes, senior of Chadron; and Sam Parker, junior of Harrison. The defense includes Zach Sandstrom, junior of Chadron; and Pierre Etchemendy, senior of Douglas, Wyo.; both were chosen for the team last year. Koch and Tyler McFarland, senior of Boise, Idaho, are also chosen for the defense. Honorable mentions include Patrick O’Boyle, junior of Gering; Kyle Hooper, redshirt freshman of Alliance; Austen Stephens, junior of Lincoln; Isaac Holscher, junior of Scottsbluff; Taz Olson, sophomore of Prairie City, S.D.; Clay Cundall, sophomore of Greybull, Wyo.; Alex Sleep, redshirt freshman of Breckenridge, Colo.; Tyler Wright, senior of Arvada, Colo.; Conor Casey, junior of Rapid City, S.D.; and Cole Montgomery, sophomore of Casper, Wyo. The team is ranked seventh on the initial NCAA Division II Super Region Four rankings. The top six teams move on to playoffs at the end of the regular season. The Super Region Four includes teams from the RMAC, the Lone Star Conference, the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, and the Great Lakes Valley Conference.

The Eagles will travel to Silver City, N.M., this Saturday to compete against Western New Mexico.

The team will be down at least one player due to injury against New Mexico Highlands.

Courtland Joshua, sophomore of Donaldsonville, La., said Tuesday afternoon that he did suffer a concussion during Saturday’s game and was feeling better. Offensive Coordinator Chris Stein said all he could say was that Joshua is doubtful for this weekend’s game.

Stein also talked about the offense’s focus going in to the game this weekend.

“The offense’s focus is to be well rounded,” he said. “We want to throw and run equally. We need to be comfortable enough to just throw if we need, or to just run if we need, but we ultimately want to be balanced in running and throwing.”

Defensive Coordinator Jeff Larson spoke about the other side of the ball.

“Our goal (the defense’s) for the weekend is just to play consistently aggressive defense,” he said.

“When we are aggressive we do well, and when we didn’t, we don’t.”

Kickoff is scheduled for noon Saturday.

Saturday against New Mexico Highlands University, Las Vegas.

Miller, tallied 12 tackles, bringing his season total to 53. He also posted a sack and an interception. He was selected for the RMAC Defensive Player of the Week.

STACY GIRARD Sport: Cross Country Class rank: Senior Hometown: Alliance At her first cross country meet this season, Girard placed 23 at the RMAC Championships, Saturday, in Silver City, N.M. Her time was 22 minutes 55.9 seconds. She led their sixth place finish, out of 14 schools.

Two home games left for Eagles Women finish strong at the Nelle Kesterson Reporter This week the volleyball team will play the last two home games of the season against the Colorado School of Mines Orediggers, Golden, and the Colorado Christian University Cougars, Lakewood. The Eagles played both of these teams this season, and lost to both. The Eagles will play against the Orediggers 6 p.m. tomorrow and will play the Cougars 5 p.m. Saturday.

On Tuesday night, the Eagles faced South Dakota School of Mines & Technology, Rapid City, for the third time this season. The game win was handed to the Hardrockers in a four-set loss. Each of the three times that the Eagles and the Hardrockers matched up, the Eagles lost in four sets.

There were five Eagles with at least six kills in Tuesday night’s game. Nikki Schmidt, junior of Merino, Colo., led the way with 10 kills; Erika Roybal, junior of Denver, tallied nine kills and a team-high 17 digs; and Jessica Jester, senior of Cheyenne, Wyo., finished with eight kills and four blocks. Barbie DeCent, senior of Paxton,

and Alia Brennan, freshman of Chadron, each finished with six kills. Justine Ackie, sophomore of Phoenix, posted a match-high 36 set assists.

Last Thursday, the Colorado State UniversityPueblo ThunderWolves swept the Eagles. Jester logged six kills and a team-high four blocks, while Roybal led the Eagles with eight kills. Alyssa Bauer, junior of Rapid City, S.D., led Chadron State with 11 digs, and Ackie recorded 17 set assists.

On Friday, the Eagles broke a 15-game losing streak with a win against the Western State Colorado University Mountaineers. This was a conference game and improved the Eagle’s standing to 1-13 in the RMAC. Both Bauer and Ackie served three aces for the Eagles and Brittany Oddo, junior of Peoria, Ariz., led the Eagles with 16 digs.

The Eagles played Adams State University on Saturday, but Chadron State failed to keep their momentum from the previous night and fell in four sets. DeCent led CSC with eight kills, Roybal and Schmidt each scored six kills and Jester finished with five kills, served three aces and assisted on five blocks.

Kathryn Sullivan Reporter The cross country team competed in the RMAC Championships Saturday in Silver City, N. M. Head Coach Ryan Baily talked about the meet.

“This meet showed the mental and physical strength of our team,” he said. “This year’s results were very exciting to see, and they handled the high elevation very well.”

This year, the CSC women’s team finished six out of 14 with a time of 1:59:26.61. Meanwhile, the men’s team ended 11 out of 13 with a time of 2:18:33.00. Last year, according to Brian Medigovich, assistant coach, the women were 11 and the men were 12.

Medigovich also commented on the meet.

“This year went a lot better,” he said. “The high elevation did play a role and they dealt

with it very well. It was a disadvantage that, now, doesn’t seem like that much of a disadvantage. One of our top runners had a small anxiety attack and had to pull back, but she still finished quite well.”

He added the team is capable of more.

The music department is bringing a slew of year-end concerts, both instrumental and vocal, this fall.

Saturday, the wind symphony preformed their first concert of the year. The concert featured the Brass Ensemble, Clarinet Quartet, and the Saxophone Quartet.

The next instrumental concert will be Nov. 15. The Jazz Band will perform at 7:30 p.m. in the Student Center.

The Wind Ensemble will perform along with the Chadron Community Band in Memorial Hall at 7:30 p.m., Nov. 19.

Along with the instrumental concerts, the music department is putting together several vocal concerts for November.

The CSC Concert Choir and the Chadron Community Choir will perform in the Chadron Arts Center at 3 p.m., Nov. 3.

The Mens Ensemble and Arioso, the women’s chorus, will also perform in the Chadron Arts Center at 3 p.m., Nov. 10.

Make up for monstorous procrastination with one of these last-minute costume ideas “Wait, Halloween is TODAY?” That’s how we’ve been feeling anyway. With classes and homework and other activities, the holiday may have crept up on you too. If you’re an underprepared procrastinator, here are some last minute, easy ideas for any party or haunted house you’re headed to.

A Fork in the Road:

Take a plastic fork, white tape, and a black shirt. Tape lines on your shirt and add the fork under one. Punny and easy!

Sexy Ghost:

One of the allures of Halloween is to get sexy. To get really sexy, take the classic sheetwith-eye-holes ghost costume and toss on your hot bikini over the top.

Airhead:

All you need for this do it yourself costume is a bag of balloons and a head band. Add several blown up balloons to your headband. Viola. You’re an airhead.

College Student:

Why change a thing? Go to the Halloween dance in your sweatpants, carry a cup of coffee, and pull your hair in every different direction. Automatic college student swag.

Party Animal:

Take some of those tacky cat ears that they sell at pretty much any store anywhere around this time of year and add a party hat on top.

Minion:

If you have a pair of overalls and a yellow shirt, you can wear those with an added pair of goggles. Suddenly, you’re one of the lovable “Despicable Me” characters!

Fairy:

You don’t even have to go buy expensive wings to go with this classic. If you take a coat hanger and add saran wrap, you suddenly have a magic pair of good looking wings!

Raining Cats and Dogs:

This one is super easy. Just take an umbrella, print off pictures of cats and dogs, and paste them on.

Crayon:

Dress in one color from head to toe. Take the same color felt and make it into a pointed hat.
