Brooks Hall to close for spring semester Nalani Stewart News Editor Brooks Hall is shutting its doors in December. The hall will be closing to reduce the cost of operation.

“Brooks is a very high cost building,” said Vice President of Administration and Finance Dale Grant. “So being very cautious, [the cost to run Brooks Hall] is about $75,000 a year.”

The college expects to cut about half of that operational cost in half, by closing Brooks next semester.

“We would safe half of that, $37,500, and that’s not including desk workers in the calculation,” said Grant.

Students living in Brooks have been asked to move to other five resident’s halls on campus- Edna Work Hall, Kent Hall, High-Rise, Eagle Ridge, and Andrews Hall.

“It is done semester by semester, and I would just like to point out that this is not the first time this has happened,” said Grant. “We narrowed it down to occupancy in residence halls, and because Brooks is the most expensive one to run, that’s the one that we decided to close.”

Reporter One in four women and one in five men will be sexually abused in their lifetime.

97% of children who experience victimization early in their life will be re-victimized later in life.

The Social Work 435 class held a conference on sex trafficking, Wednesday. The conference included theatre department presentations, survivor stories, words from experts and those that are fighting to end the sex trafficking industry.

A video interview with a sex trafficking survivor, Kelly, was shown. She described her life as part of a sex trafficking ring and how it has impacted her life now. She was in the industry for more than four years before escaping.

Only 1% of those in the sex trafficking industry for more than four years survive.

Many survivors of sex trafficking do not fit into the stigma. It can happen to anyone.

Kelly and other survivors are fighting to change legislation, protect victims and end the sex trafficking industry.

“It can easily happen to college students, even though it’s a small town. College kids are targeted because of their age and some can be easily manipulated into sex trafficking.” Raven Shouldis, 18, freshman from Chadron, said.

“It’s not something that is unheard of. Brooks just gets selected because it’s a high dollar building,” said Grant. “Part of it is, it’s old, and it’s not very tight. There are all of the window air conditioners, and it does not run off of central systems. And I believe that the hot water is gas fired, instead of steamed, so that affects the cost.”

Resident Hall Directors, and the housing office have been working closely with students to relocate them before the end of the semester. As of now, the future of Brooks hall is unclear.

CAB chair Trista Schell encouraged students to be mindful of the signs of suicide.

“I want to remind you guys, that as student leaders, we should be aware of other students, and what they are going through,” said Chair Trista Schell. “We want to know and look for warning signs, and just be aware. Spread positivity, and positive vibes.”

Kevin Hines will speak on Nov 14, at 7 p.m. in Memorial Hall. Hines, a Golden Gate Bridge (jumper) Survivor will tell his story in hopes to promote suicide awareness, and intrigue others to “love the life we have been given.”

“There are 600 seats, and we are looking for all of them to be filled,” said Schell. “So, encourage your fellow club members, and other

students to go.”

CAB has a current budget of $13,569.50 in unallocated funds. In another matter, the Spring Daze committee is contacting bands, and continually seeking recommendations for other entertainment. In another matter, if clubs have any seniors who are graduating in December, CAB representatives should email Vice Chair of Records Kristina McGann, so that CAB can begin to order graduation cords.

CAB is also looking for help to run Casino Night on Dec. 1.

“We are still looking for help to run it,” said Vice Chair of Records Kristina McGann.

“RLA has reached out, but if any other clubs are wanting to help, let us know.”

The next two Free Movie Nights are set to take place on Nov. 12, and Dec. 10. The Salvation Army Bell Ringing will begin the first week of November.

Senate approves The Big Event budget Nalani Stewart News Editor Senate approved the budget for The Big Event. The cost was broken down into several categories which include: $750 for Advertising, $1,291.00 for the White-Out event, $250 for Printing Costs, $7,237.50 for “Day of ” Costs, and $650 in miscellaneous fees. The total cost of this years The Big Event comes to $10,178.55.

With little to no feedback on the Facebook page regarding the subject, Senate is looking for another way to do open forums to get a response from students.

Senate has a current budget of $34,760.50 in unallocated funds.

“We are working on getting everything set in stone, so

we are ready for budget season in the spring,” said Vice President of Finance Lukas Klueber.

AFB, the committee responsible for allotting the money that students pay each year in activities fees, to fund many of the clubs on campus, is now up and running.

“We are going to be sending out a thing that discusses AFB in general, to clubs soon,” said Klueber. “It will be called Allocation Information, and it will answer six, or seven frequently asked questions about money, and how it works.”

In wake of the death of a student from Peru State College, Kaelia Nelson, 21 of Hemingford, who was crowned Miss Chadron 2018, President Carly Slaght addressed the subject of suicide awareness and mental health.

“I just want to ask you guys to please be on alert, and to

learn the symptoms, and make sure that you are spreading the message of suicide prevention,” said Slaght. “We do have several counselors on campus, and I posted on our Facebook page, the email address, and their contact information. It is really important to keep the conversation going, so that students know that there are many places on campus to get help.”

A call for action on the opioid epidemic Just this past Thursday, October 26, President Donald Trump declared the opioid epidemic a national public health emergency.

According to the National Drug Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA), more than 2.6 million are affected by opioid abuse and more than 64,000 died of drug overdoses in 2016. This is not an issue that can be ignored any longer.

Heroin-related deaths have quadrupled since 2000 and doubled in the last decade. More than 80 percent of heroin users have previously been prescribed painkillers.

President Trump stated in his speech about the opioid epidemic, “It’s really really easy to not take them [the opioids], and I think that’s going to end up being our most important thing. Really tough, really big, really great advertising so we get to people before they start.”

This doesn’t help those who are already addicted. It’s kind of like

looking at someone who’s choking and lecturing them on how they could have prevented it instead of giving them the Heimlich. It would be good to address the issue at a young age, which we already do. We can’t ignore those who are currently suffering from addiction.

We’ve seen these campaigns fail before, such as Nancy Reagan’s Just Say No campaign, and modern ones such as DARE, the most widespread educational program educating young students to stay away from drugs.

The program essentially brought law enforcement officers into classrooms about once a week informing students of the negative effects of drug and alcohol usage. However, according to Scientific American, researchers found that teenagers who were not put through this program were just as likely to use drugs as those who received this training.

that Trump is giving the opioid crisis, but we, editors of The Eagle, wish he was doing more than just give it attention.

We want action. President Trump lost his brother, Fred Jr., to alcoholism, a contributing reason that he doesn’t drink to this day. Therefore, President Trump has a personal connection to this cause.

While he has proposed ideas, he still has only declared it a “public health emergency.” The funds come from the Public Health Emergency Fund, which just has a balance of about $56,000. The federal government estimates the cost of their action to come to about $75 billion annually.

We think the attention that has recently been brought to this epidemic is good, but there needs to be a plan of action taken on this issue.

Advertising is a good start, but it’s not enough. This is an issue that can’t be ignored any longer.

Mental illness is not a joke Torri Brumbaugh Lifestyles Editor As a college student, I constantly hear people joke about how stressed and depressed they are. Tweets about how much anxiety you have over the upcoming tests you have seem to have the most likes. Mental health is often seen as a joke, but in reality, it is a serious matter that anyone is susceptible to.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration has statistics showing that 75 percent of mental illnesses are onset by age 24 and that one in five adults have experienced mental illness.

These studies were done in 2012, but these statistics are still shocking.

I have seen a lot of buzz about mental illness online lately due to the death of Peru State student and local girl Kaelia Nelson. While I did not know her personally, she seemed to be a bright, young girl who had an impact on everyone she met. However, her mental illness

led to her tragic suicide.

Nelson, who was in the pageant circuit, made her platform Stomping the Stigma: Creating Conversations about Mental Illness.

It is a tragedy that her death is what finally helped bring light to a cause she cared so deeply about.

An article in Times Magazine, titled “Why College Is a Risky Time for Students’ Mental Health,” sourced the American College Health Association who found students are reporting incredibly high amounts of anxiety and depression, only 12 percent went to counseling.

The ACHA’s also reported that only 15 percent of students who commit suicide got counseling on campus.

College leaves stress at an all-time high, but what amount of stress is too much? Those jokes your friend keeps making about crippling anxiety may not just be jokes.

Laughing about mental illness and our stress on social media and to our friends may help us cope, but there is usually some truth to every joke.

We must educate ourselves on mental illnesses and warning signs to avoid the loss of another beautiful heart.

The Times article does claim that the percentage of students seeking any mental health services has increased from 2010 to 2016. We cannot decrease the stress and pressure put on us as students, but we can recognize the problem and take action. Before you can take care of your classes, your friends, or your relationships, you must first take care of yourself.

We must take mental illness seriously and reach out to those it may affect. Let’s do what Kaelia set out to do and create the conversations about mental illness.

Celebrate your birthday Samantha Persinger Contributor Looking forward at my birthday week has been a thrill ride of emotions. I have found that not only will this be my 21st birthday, I am also annoyed with, “What are you going to do?” questions.

My answer to that question is, I have no idea, but I am going to figure out something and celebrate my 21 years. I believe that everyone needs to celebrate their birthday, no matter if you loathe it or not.

I have found that many people do not like their birthday. Maybe you do not like celebrating. You prefer to not be congratulated for being born on that day. I have always found this puzzling. However, it is no excuse for not celebrating. Life should be celebrated, and not just being born, but

the accomplishments that you have achieved as well.

If you detest getting older, then celebrate about the job you landed last March, or the new friend you made in September and how that path led you to where you are today.

Life is worth celebrating even if you do not like the ticking clock of time.

I have personally always liked my birthday, I was never shy when people said happy birthday, and I have never turned down an invitation to celebrate either. However, it is intimidating for many on their birthday to receive all the attention. If you are one of these people, it is okay. That is normal, one day of attention versus 364 days of being normal can be shocking. However, all that pressure is not a bad thing. It is your day spend it proudly, smile and have a good time.

Surprise birthday parties can be nerve-racking. I have found that not only do a good portion of my friends and family dislike them, but they are terrifying for most. If you’re nervous about all the attention here is some advice I have found to help cope with all the excitement at a birthday party.

First, know that it is a good intention. For the party planner it gave them an opportunity to rejoice with a friend. They want you to have a good time not be scared.

Second do not worry about judgement. Most people want have fun with you on your birthday. Give them a day to celebrate your friendship.

Third do not worry about the upcoming years. Dreading the next years to come can put a damper on your birthday, live life in the now.

Your life is worth celebrating. Have a great birthday.

Disney-related fanfictions spark fascination and imagination Caleb Wiederhold Cartoonist

There’s a few things I like. You probably know I like Disney, but I also like writing, thinking, and expressing fanfiction and story ideas and there are few fanfictions that I like. There’s also some imaginations that I wish were realities or things I wish could happen, but that’s probably my imagination.

Now, one set that I’ve been intrigued by is “Frozen” fanfiction writings, written by ksckwake1. I’ve talked about him, while explaining my worries for him and for Disney, but there’s things I like in his fanfictions. One of it is “Frozen 2: Fire and Ice”, where Elsa and the “Frozen” gang meet a socially-awkward man named Kristian, who has the ability to produce fire and a pet firebird Mattias.

What I like about this is that he gives Elsa a fire-wielding male love interest. And the chapter I like in “Frozen 2: Fire and Ice” is the sixteenth chapter, where Elsa learns about Kristian’s fire abilities. Thing is, from what ksck-

wake1 put, Kristian was ingrained with negativity about fire and ice being natural opposites by his mentor Goran, who also has fire-wielding abilities and the villain of the story. However, when Elsa discovers he has the abilities of heat and fire, she is accepting of him.

Well, before I saw ksckwake1’s work, I was having “Frozen” sequel idea giving Elsa a fire-wielding male love interest. I was going to continue with my work after seeing ksckwake1’s fanfiction, but I decided not to, because already had the ideas down in “Frozen 2: Fire and Ice” and I didn’t want to copy his work.

There’s a couple fanfictions I do like on the internet and ksckwake1’s fanfiction “Frozen 2: Fire and Ice” and this writings are an exception.

There’s also “Zootopia” that’s my favorite Disney movie (you already know that) and I’m one of the people that ship Nick and Judy. There are couple of fan arts of Nick and Judy that I have liked. I have been doing work and having some ideas of fanfictions for a sequel, but it would be pleasing if Disney did do sequel with Nick and Judy are

love interests.

I do like several Disney films and several other things, like Disney World and some of their television shows, even “Star Wars”. It would be nice to work for them.

But, there are more things that I wish for. I would like to work for Disney in expressing or helping with story ideas. I also want for peace for ksckwake1 and Disney, because of what I’ve talked about in my previous “My worries for Disney and a fanfiction writer” article. It would be nice meeting ksckwake1 and those involved in “Frozen” face-to-face, but that’s my imagination. I just wish for peace between them.

I also wish for a “Zootopia” sequel that make Nick and Judy a couple, but it’s Disney’s call.

There are other things I like and other things I wish. Sometimes, I wish some of my imaginations and dreams could be realities, but they’re just my imaginations. In my opinion, it would be nice if some of my dreams, imaginations, and few wishes could be realities, but I don’t know.

Take time to visit the elderly Lydia Privett Opinion Editor When was the last time you visited a nursing home or an assisted living facility, whether it was to go and see a loved one or just to simply visit and make someone’s day?

When was the last time you went out of your way to visit your grandparents?

I’ll be the first to admit, I don’t go nearly as often as I should. Visiting the elderly is something I’ve recently found myself forgetting to do, and I fear that they will begin (if they haven’t already) to think that we’ve forgotten about them amongst the busy turbulence of our young, hectic, and technology-driven lives.

Your visits don’t even have to be to a facility, it can simply be popping by to visit your grandparents at their house when you’re in town for the day, something I make a point to do whenever I go home. I am one of fifteen grandchildren, and my grandparents have told me that I am their only grandchild that frequently goes out of her way to go and visit them when I’m in town.

That makes me sad, and it’s something I feel needs to change. I have found that I hear some wonderfully embarrassing stories about my parents when they were growing up, along with a home-cooked meal from grandma’s

kitchen (we all know there’s nothing better than that), and a good game of cards when I go and visit them. Why isn’t that something that our generation takes more time to do?

There are several ways that both parties can benefit from us taking time out of our busy schedules to go and see them.

One way the elderly benefit from us going to visit them is it can cause them to live longer. Research has shown that laughter can relieve stress, therefore lengthen their lives.

The elderly aren’t the only ones who benefit from us visiting them. In ways, we can arguably benefit more than them. By listening to them and their stories, not only do we learn valuable life lessons it also gives us an opportunity to exercise our patience.

They’ve done so much for us already. They are some of our first teachers. We have a responsibility to learn from their wisdom. They are the history and heritage of our society and world, and we have so much to learn from them.

Patience is something our generation lacks in. Visiting the elderly helps us to slow down and take some time from our hectic and busy lives to relax. The elderly talk and move at a much slower rate than we do.

Technology, I believe, has caused us to be a very impatient generation because everything happens so quickly now-a-days, oftentimes with the touch of a button. We

sometimes forget that the world has not always been this high-tech.

Will you want to be neglected and forgotten about when you’re old? When visiting my great-grandmother growing up, back when she was alive, some of the residents that lived near her hadn’t received a visitor in years!

Whenever we visited my great-grandmother, we would always receive little gifts from her fellow residents because seeing us filled them with joy. They’re some of the people I’ll never forget.

At such a young age, I couldn’t quite wrap my mind around how I could make someone I didn’t know so happy, but it all makes sense now.

The idea that simply taking a couple hours out of my day to sit, relax, play some cards, and hear some stories from those who have a few years on me, could make their day, makes it a no-brainer. It’s something we should be doing more of.

The final reason you should visit your elders more often, they are nearing their end and their future is uncertain. I speak from personal experience, and had one of my sets of grandparents both pass away unexpectedly.

Since then, I have made a very conscious attempt to visit my other set of grandparents much more frequently.

Save yourself from that regret, and pay your grandparents or your local nursing home a visit.

The event was organized by RA Noah Fisher, 21, juor of Pierce, who said he was happy with the outcome the event. RLA spent about $250 on the event and exected 60-70 students to attend. The event drew more udents than anticipated.

The Eagles jumped out to a quick 9-0 lead over Colorado School of Mines, Golden, Saturday, but stalled out in the final three quarters, losing 27-15.

CSC is still ahead of the Orediggers in conference standings, claiming the No. 3 spot, with CSM at No. 4. Both teams have identical records at 5-4 overall, 5-3 in conference play.

After back-to-back defensive stands, and the help of two botched punts, the CSC offense went to work, striking first with a 34-yard field goal from Will Morgan, sophomore of Fort Collins, Colorado. On the next offensive possession, Derek Jackson, senior of Pueblo West, Colorado, punched in a two-yard touchdown run, making it 9-0 after a failed two-point conversion.

The Orediggers answered with a 23-yard touchdown run from Cameron Mayberry, redshirt sophomore of Stillwater, Oklahoma, the RMAC’s leading rusher. Mayberry added a second touchdown in the fourth quarter, enough to seal the win for CSM. Mayberry finished with 150 yards on 23 carries.

Jackson led the rushing attack for CSC with 104 yards on 27 carries and two touchdowns.

Redshirt freshman Dalton Holst, of Gillette, Wyoming, finished with 200 yards through the air, but was intercepted twice.

Holst found wide receiver Jackson Dickerson, redshirt sophomore of Chadron, 12 times for 88 yards.

The defense was led again by Brian Wood, redshirt senior of Stockton, California, with 13 tackles, 1.5 for loss, and a pass breakup. Wood was CSC’s only defensive player in double-digit tackles. Tyler Lewis, redshirt freshman of Arvada, Colorado, added nine, five of which were solo.

The Eagles are on the road this week, traveling to Spearfish, South Dakota, to battle rival Black Hills State University. The Yellowjackets are No. 5 in the RMAC, with a 4-4 record. The rivalry has been dramatic the last three years, with all three games decided by less than a touchdown. BHSU won last season in a fourth-quarter thriller, 21-19. Kickoff is scheduled for noon.

Referees for youth basketball needed Chadron Community Recreation is looking for referees for the youth basketball league, boys and girls grades 3-6.

The season runs from December through January, but not over the Holiday break. Games are usually played at the NPAC on Saturday mornings.

Referees usually officiate four to five games per day, each usually lasting less than an hour, while earning $10 per game.

Basketball team hosts EWC for preseason scrimmage Krystal Wilson Photo Editor Chadron State’s men’s basketball team practiced their strategies for the upcoming season during a scrimmage against Eastern Wyoming College, Torrington, in the Chicoine Center last Thursday.

Because the game was a scrimmage, the scores were reset at halftime. The Eagle’s won both the first and second half, scoring 52-39 and 48-37, respectively. However, Head Men’s Basketball Coach Houston Reed said that at this point, the score isn’t that important.

“We are just looking to get better,” Reed said.

“We have a lot of new young players on the team this year.”

The new faces on the team played most of

the game. Freshman Dru Kuxhausen, of Scottsbluff, among other teammates showed long-range shooting ability.

One of the team’s two seniors, Darius Polley, of Amarillo, Texas, will return as one of the team’s leaders and displayed his ability to play in the paint. Michael Johnson, sophomore of Nassau, Bahamas, showed his ability in the post as well. As both are returning players, minutes were limited.

This year’s team is made up of 12 new and seven returning players.

“Some of the things we worked on in practice that we hoped to see here tonight we didn’t see,” Reed said.

Reed said the team still needs to improve their urgency on the court.

The men’s season starts Friday Nov. 10th. The Eagles will play Texas A&M International in Laredo, Texas.

More than 80 people showed up to Mischief Night at the Hub Monday from 7-9 p.m.

Students put on Halloween costumes representing different characters in hope to win the grand prize, a bean bag chair.

“I’m a Mad Hatter,” Jessy Bale, 20, junior of South Dakota, said, “I always loved ‘Alice in the Wonderland.’”

People voted for the best costume. The bean bag chair went to Lydia Sigler, 20, sophomore of O’Neil. She dressed up as Eleven from the TV show “Stranger Things.”

RAs also provided pumpkins to decorate, hosted other games, such as guessing candy corn in a jar, sticking cheese balls on RAs’ faces, making mummies with toilet paper.

“I had Ms. Laurin wrap me up with toilet paper to be a mummy,” said Mikaela Franzen, 20, sophomore of Gurley. “We got really close but we lost.”

However, Franzen still brought back a Troll and a blender as the RA randomly drew the participants’ names for prizes.

The list of prizes included a Nerf gun, a Nerf hoop, a basketball, a personal blender, an electric tea kettle, rope lights, multicolored lights, bluetooth speakers, a Jenga set, a pingpong set, pool cues and sleds.

Attendants took part in different games and interacted with the RAs. Most of the people said prizes and food were key reasons why they came. They said to have enjoyed the Halloween event.

Halloween Party exceeds expectations Yen Nguyen Reporter

Ashley Heelan, 20, sophomore of Lewellen, expressed her excitement about the Halloween Party, hosted by RLA. She also brought back the Halloween haunted gingerbread house kit.

The Halloween Party attracted 162 people from 6-9 p.m., Thursday at the Hub. “This was way more than I ever expected,” said McKenna Jones, 20, junior of Louisville, “I was just hoping to reach at least 31 people!”

The party held by Jones provided cupcakes to decorate, popcorn and prizes up to $80 in value. Prizes included $20 Domino’s Pizza gift card, $15 Apple App store and iTunes gift card, $15 Subway gift card and other Halloween cookies and candies. People just needed to

show up, sign in on the sheet and wait for the resident advisors to call their names.

According to Jones, music ranging from “Thriller” by Michael Jackson to the theme song from the movie “Halloween”, which was spooky and mysterious, immersed students in the holiday spirit.

The resident advisors provided cupcakes, half chocolate and half white, with frosting and Halloween sprinkles, “Monster Munch” consisted of kettle corn, popcorn, and other kinds of candies. With the various supply, students were able to create their own cupcake versions.

“People love free food so I thought they would love to get to decorate cupcakes and make it Halloween themed,” Jones said.

Out of 144 cupcakes made, only two were left at the end of the party.

Netflix releases Stephen King Thriller “Gerald’s Game” Reporter When Netflix first released they were going to make a movie out of “Gerald’s Game” and that it would be released around the same time “IT” was, I was stoked. I love Stephen King’s work. Or, rather, I love to hate it. Everyone I have talked to who has read Stephen King says the same thing: he’s a genius, but he’s an evil one with a cruel side that likes to play with your emotions. Or, in the case of “Gerald’s Game,” your mind.

I haven’t read the book. Yet. But by now, I like to say that I’ve got a pretty good grasp on King’s MO. And, for the most part, I was right on the money with what I should expect from both King and Netflix.

I follow King on Twitter and there was one thing he posted a few weeks before Netflix released the movie that stuck with me: “Don’t watch this alone.” He posted that along with the trailer. Of course, I watched it since I recognized the title as one of his books (I actually own the book, I just haven’t gotten to read it yet).

When I watched the trailer, I remember demonic nuns, or crazy clowns wandering the thinking, “Pssh. Oh yeah, Mr. King? I think that’s basically all you need to know.

In addition to that, the producers did a marvelous job casting the characters – again, for now, we’ll just have to set aside how they compare to King’s original characters.

After spending hours alone with no food or water, her dead husband on the floor at the foot of the bed, it’s not surprising Jessie starts to hallucinate things. And from there, the audience is thrown into her world of water-depraved near madness. We quickly learn lots of things about Jessie and Gerald’s marriage and even more about Jessie herself. she has to sleep at some point and we’re given glimpses into her past in memory-dream form.

The thing that makes this story so compelling and uniquely scary is that there is nothing particularly outlandish in it. Everything that happens is real – there aren’t any weird spiritual forces like there are in “Pet Semetary” or “The Shining.” Everything that goes down in “Gerald’s Game” is 100 percent entirely possible and not that difficult to imagine.

Of course, not everyone is into chaining their significant other to the bed, that’s not what I’m talking about. But the mistake of not getting the door all the way closed, leaving the house open to strangers and wild animals. The possibility of being stuck somewhere physically and unable to do anything about it. Forced to suffer the effects of dehydration and starvation. Going to the extreme to survive. They aren’t every day occurrences, but it’s not like they’re impossible.

I don’t want to give away the best parts of the movie, the things that make it truly twisted and disturbing, but I will say that there is so much more to this movie than what I originally thought. And there is so much more to it than what I’ve told you. I don’t want to give it away.

Ultimately, I would give “Gerald’s Game” a four out of five star rating. At five stars, I basically plan to own it someday. With four, I consider it something I would watch more than once.

Netflix’s newest installation of this classic King novel isn’t for everyone, that is the easiest statement to make about the movie as well as probably the most obvious. It’s deep, dark and extremely twisted. It has images and concepts that could be triggering and may even be considered traumatic for some. But, if you’re like me and you enjoy a craftily told story with a macabre twist that makes you go “… what did I just watch?” at the end, then I highly suggest giving “Gerald’s Game” a try. Just keep in mind: it’s not for the faint of heart. And maybe take King’s advice: don’t watch it alone.

Project Strive Living Room was visited by Clayton Riesen, the President of Farmers State Bank, Chadron at, Tuesday. He came to speak to Project Strive students about identity theft and to offer them preventative advice on the issue.

“Three of the most important things for students to do regarding identity theft are to watch their accounts on a daily basis, never give out personal information over the phone, and keep their bills paid,” Riesen said. “An important thing for students to watch out for is their credit, and to make sure that no one else abuses it. If someone else abuses your credit, it can affect

you for a very long time.”

Thirteen of the Project Strive students attended the identity theft event.
