CSC GRADUATE ELECTED MINNESOTA’S 41ST GOVERNOR CSC alumnus Tim Walz became the first Chadron State graduate sworn in as governor on Jan. 7 in St. Paul, Minnesota. Walz, a Democrat, previously served for 12 years in the U.S. House of Representatives before being elected governor. Walz received 54 percent of the vote, 300,000 more than challenger Jeff Johnson. According to a press release by Con
Marshall, Walz also received 1,392,958 votes, the most ever for a gubernatorial candidate in Minnesota. Walz graduated from CSC in 1989 and pursued a career in teaching. He earned a $10,000 Ethics in Education award in 2002. After high school Walz joined the National Guard and served for 24 years before serving in the U.S. House of Reps.
