Men’s track sprints for first place u By Mackenzie Dahlberg Sports Editor
The Eagles men sprint for high placements, balancing out their team with continuous success in throwing and jumping events. Instead of hosting another track meet in the NPAC, the Eagles traveled to Spearfish and competed against Black Hills State University and South Dakota School of Mines.
Morgan Fawver, sophomore of McCook, finished first in two of his races, 60 meters with a time of 6.82 seconds and 200 meters timed at 22.42 seconds. Finishing right behind Fawver, Emory Yoosook, freshman of Casper, Wyoming placed second in the 60 meters, timed for 7.15 seconds; and finished third in the 200 meters, marked at 23.29 seconds. Yoosook jumped 21 feet, 6.25 inches in the long jump, earning himself first.
“Emory has gotten better every week,” Head Track and Field Coach Riley Northrup said. “He has progressed nicely, so it’s not surprising to see him continually improving his times and distances.” Filling second place in the 200 meters, Osvaldo Cano, sophomore of Oshkosh, ran the race in 22.94 seconds. Osvaldo Cano ran the 400 meters in 50.17 seconds, placing first.
