The budget proposal for Health Professions Club ski trip was declined by a 13-2 vote during Monday evening’s Senate meeting.

The club had asked for $3,324.89 in funds to go on a professional development and group bonding ski trip in Granby, Colorado. However, Senate deemed the trip recreational in their discussion and also declined the AFB proposal budget of $1,287.45. It was also mentioned that HPC is no longer able to raise funds with concessions.

Senate also discussed the NAfME trip for a teachers’ convention. The club asked for $1,635.00 for their trip to Lincoln. AFB offered $1152.00 and it was approved with a 15-0 vote.

According to Deena Kennell, the funds for activities are much lower than in previous years. The reason is enrollment was down and the roll over from previous years is not as high as usual. She let the assembly know that AFB is trying their hardest to make budgets for clubs this year.

Sam Klammer, 20, junior of Hastings, was voted into office for BMS senator. Klammer is an accounting major and had been interested in joining Senate for a long time. He was voted in uncontested.

Senate is planning to send representatives to the NSCS conference at Wayne State. Currently there is no plan or budget for who can attend yet. The rough plan is to send small group to the conference and not the whole panel. AFB will come up with a budget for who wants to go. Senate is currently working on other projects that will be announced later in the year and the committees.

Chancellor candidates announced Torri Brumbaugh Co-Editor The Board of Trustees announced Thom D. Chesney, John L. Kuehn, Rusty L. Monhollon and Paul D. Turman as the four finalists of the Nebraska State College System chancellor search, Monday.

Over Sunday and Monday, the Board will meet to interview each of the candidates at the Embassy Suites in Lincoln.

The finalists submitted their applications by Aug. 8 and went through a lengthy process to get to this phase. During the Board of Trustees meeting Sept. 15, Gary Bieganski, chair of the NSCS Board of Trustees and chair of the chancellor search committee, assured the trustees the search

was successful in their timeline. He said the finalists were being narrowed down and were going through a reference and background test.

After 18 years of serving as NSCS Chancellor, Stan Carpenter announced his retirement in May and the search for the new Chancellor began in June.

Organization, adviser training set for October Devin Fulton Reporter During Monday night’s CAB meeting, Student Trustee Dawson Brunswick announced that four candidates have been selected to interview for the NSCS Chancellor position.

The position opened after the current chancellor, Stan Carpenter, informed the Board of Trustees of his plans to retire on Tuesday, May 8.

Student Activities Coordinator Megan Northrup announced plans for the organization and adviser training at 6 p.m., Oct. 2 and 11 a.m., Oct. 4 in the student center. The training will cover elements of budgeting and the steps for accounting, price sheets and reimbursements.

“We are requiring that at least one person from your executive board be there,” Northrup added about the event.

Vice Chair of Records Kristina McGann, senior of Broken Bow, announced that CAB is “going green” and the meeting agendas will no longer be printed out, stressing the importance of reading the emails before the meetings.

There will be a white-out themed dance from 9 p.m. to midnight tonight in The Hub, hosted by The Pit. Free Bowling Night hosted by CAB will take place at 6 p.m., Oct. 7, at Hilltop Lanes.

BRIEFS New major offered at Chadron State College

CSC students with an interest in physical and life sciences now have a new option of study. As of Fall 2018, Environmental Geoscience is available as a major and minor.

Prior to the addition of the new major, there was a geoscience degree available. The new option allows students to learn about the ever-changing environment including global warming, water and natural resources across the globe.

This program, which features face-to-face courses, required over a year’s worth of work to bring to CSC. Environmental geoscience features face-to-face courses.

This program also requires an internship to be completed by any student who wants to major or minor in environmental science.

Adventure speaker giving presentation today

Brian O’Malley, a keynote speaker and guide for international expeditions, is hosting a keynote presentation, “The Spirit of Adventure,” from 7-8:30 p.m., Thursday, in the Student Center Ballroom.

This event is free and open to the public. This speaking event is in collaboration with the FYI Survival Skills 101 course and a community service class project students must complete for that course.

Make your health a priority

I really enjoy school. I know that sounds crazy, but I love getting to meet new people, go to events and hang out with friends. On top of that, I have to do school work, which is not my favorite, but I have to get it done.

With all of this going on, it is pretty easy to get caught up in the hustle-and-bustle of everyday life. Sometimes I forget to take care of myself and put my needs first.

With everything that goes on in our day-to-day life, it is easy to sweep ourselves and our health under the rug. Running ourselves ragged, our immune system starts to deteriorate, and we might be eating out more than we should. We start fueling our bodies with energy drinks, coffee, french fries, more coffee and a lot of other junk that does not help us in our day.

I want to bring some possible ideas to the forefront of your mind for the busy weeks coming up to make sure you are at your best.

There are a few things that I try to

schedule in every week to keep myself sane and healthy so I can make the most out of my day.

The first thing I try to do is include my hobby at least three to four times a week so I don’t feel swamped doing things I don’t like. For me, I like going to the gym.

Maybe you like going on walks or playing frisbee golf. Try to make some time for that this next week, and invite some friends. Being outside and being active will help keep your mind at it its best.

Another thing you might want to do for yourself is set aside time to decompress. Whether it is an hour or two once or twice a week, set aside time for you to get rid of the clutter around you. Set your

phone and homework aside, put on a face mask, watch a movie, and just relax. Give yourself a break from all the monotony.

Take time for yourself and treat yourself to some of your favorite things that lift up your spirits.

One last thing you can do for yourself is set up a night for yourself to meal prep and plan one night to have dinner with your friends.

While writing down your agenda for the week, set aside some time for yourself to make some healthy meals to keep your body going. Also, get ahold of your friends and plan to make homemade pizza or spaghetti. Plan to spend time with friends and enjoy a meal together. Nothing beats sharing time with your friends and eating some food.

This week, take some time for yourself. Plan your week out and schedule in some time for you to do things you like.

I know that there is so much going on in your life but make time for yourself.

Fuel your body for success, whether that’s playing outside for a bit or taking some time away from social media and watching a movie. Take time for yourself this week!

High expectations mean high stress for Gen Z Torri Brumbaugh Co-Editor I am currently praying for midterm break.

It seems everyone is getting sick, grades are starting to slip and it is at the point where if you are behind in a class there may be no chance of catching up.

I am taking fewer credits this semester than I have my entire college career and I’m in the least amount of clubs. Yet, I’m still killing myself with work.

Why? Why are college kids now conditioned to believe they must push themselves until they are sick, tired and anxious? Why do we need to fill every second of our time with an activity to feel like we are worth something to society?

Not only do these bad habits often lead to mediocrity, which is a pet peeve of mine, but they are killing the motivation of an entire generation of students.

“Millennials” often get a bad rap for being arrogant and lazy, but the kids I’m referring to

aren’t millennials. They are Generation Z. It seems that Generation Z is overworking themselves because we are trying to compensate for the damage that prior generations left for us.

Millennials are deemed as lazy, therefore Gen Z is trying their hardest to do everything and anything they can to negate that stereotype.

Gen Z is currently accumulating debt to

simply get entry level jobs or an internship. To get experience, you need a job. Sadly, most of the entry level jobs that Gen Z should be entering require at least five years experience.

You need the job to get the job, so you can’t get the job because you don’t already have the job. Does that make sense? I didn’t think so.

To get the job, you often need a college degree, too. When Forbes examined a Federal Reserve study, it showed that “between 1985 and 2011, average tuition nationwide increased 498 percent,” while the rate of general inflation was only 114 percent. That means the cost of college has increased four times more than general inflation.

We are paying more for our degrees that are essentially required to obtain a livable wage, and when we enter our entry level jobs that probably won’t pay off our student loans, we are often written off as narcissistic and lazy. Not to mention we are also blamed for killing multiple industries, including the diamond industry, the bar soap industry,

the casual dining industry and the fabric softener industry.

That is a lot of pressure, so no wonder we are killing ourselves in school and activities.

We simply want to be able to afford to live.

Why are we so anxious? I don’t know. It could be because the planet is dying. Maybe it’s because every day we turn on the news there is another school shooting or another horrendous scandal coming from our government and leaders. Maybe it’s because our future is looking a little gloomy.

Inc. Magazine said that Gen Z is deeply distrustful of the government, and only six percent trust business corporations to do the right thing.

As a generation we are incredibly pessimistic, but we are trying to do right and survive.

I have met my peers, and I know they are not all the brightest crayon in the box. Next time you begin to write of Gen Z or complain that they do too much or too little, cut them some slack. We are trying our best.

Love the dog, not the breed Brianna Wilson Reporter There’s nothing wrong with wanting to breed your dog or cat, especially if you have the financial means, the time and the space to take care of those animals. And, on some level, I understand wanting a specific breed of dog, especially if you intend for it to be a working dog; I have no doubt that there are certain breeds that are better at some things than others. What I don’t understand, is the obsession with purity.

My dog is a purebred Australian Shepherd; she looks it, too. But, I wouldn’t love her any less if she turned out not to be pure.

It isn’t her heritage that makes her a good dog and my best friend, it’s her personality and her training. Sure, it helps that Auss-

ies are a smart breed overall – it certainly made training her much easier, but a smart dog doesn’t necessarily make a good dog.

I’ve met some really dumb dogs who are as

sweet as can be and loyal to a fault and that is so much more important when looking for a companion.

I’ve met a lot of people who make such a big deal out of their dog’s heritage, but most of us just want a companion, not a working pup. If that’s the case, then what does it matter if it’s got strictly Labrador genes?

Some of the best dogs I’ve ever met have been mutts. The term has such a derogatory sound to it, but really it just means a mix of two different breeds. You know, it really gets confusing when you start calling those purebred, as in a purebred Labradoodle, or a purebred Yorkie-Poo. It seems silly to intermix two breeds and then smash their names together and call it a new breed.

It’s a mutt.

A purebred mutt, even though that

makes no sense, because purebred means 100 percent of one or the other and it has to be some variation of two different breeds to achieve that term.

Because of this, I’m going to say it again: I don’t get the obsession with purity. Why spend hundreds of dollars to get a purebred dog that, for all you know, could grow up with a deformity because it’s purebred (this happened to my aunt and uncle), when you could get a mutt for far cheaper and have it be just as good a dog?

I totally understand wanting a dog that looks a certain way, for whatever reason. It’s the complete focus on a dog’s heritage that I don’t get.

Keep an open mind when looking for your next pet to bring home. You might be surprised with who you find.

Merely muggles...

The CSC wrestling team split into two and competed against each other during RLA’s Quidditch, Tuesday in the amphitheater, due to being the only team to show up.

The team played three full rounds with the winners claiming victory in two of the three games.

While they competed against each other, the wrestling team seemed to be playful and competitive while attempting to follow all of the Quidditch rules.

Quidditch is a fictional game from the book and movie series, “Harry Potter” and was a part of RLA’s homecoming festivities.

Devin Fulton Reporter Chadron State football pulled off a 38-34 upset over number two ranked Colorado Mesa, in Grand Junction, Colorado, Saturday, in a thriller where the teams combined for 1128 yards.

For the second week in a row, the Eagles’ defense sealed the victory with an interception.

After going up 38-34 late in the fourth, Mavericks’ quarterback Eystin Salum, senior of Denver, lead his offense down to the Eagles’ red zone but was intercepted by safety Tyree Fryar, junior of Burlington, New Jersey.

After watching his opponents complete a 65-yard, 13-play fourth-quarter drive that ate up four minutes, 20 seconds of clock, to retake the lead, Eagles’ quarterback Dalton Holst, sophomore of Gillette, Wyoming, answered with a touchdown drive of his own.

The Eagles’ offense marched downfield and Holst capped the drive with a 35 yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Jackson Dickerson, junior of Chadron, for the go-ahead score.

“We knew we needed to score, but we needed to score a touchdown to go ahead by four and put the game on our defense,” Holst said about his mindset on the final drive.

Mavericks play with heavy hearts Brandon Davenport Sports Editor Hours before kickoff against the Chadron State Eagles, Colorado Mesa football players were told at a team breakfast that their teammate and junior running back Brett Ojiyi, 21, of Los Angeles, was shot to death earlier that morning.

According to a Colorado Mesa University press release and the Grand Junction Police Department, Ojiyi died of a single gunshot wound to the chest in an off-campus incident in the 1100 block of Grand Junction’s Main Street, just minutes past midnight Saturday.

Ojiyi was a four-year member of the team.

University officials, coaches and players decided to continue with that day’s game against the Eagles. Mavericks and Eagles players held a moment of silence in Ojiyi’s honor prior to the game.

“The entire Colorado Mesa University community is saddened from the news that Brett passed this morning,” CMU President Tim Foster said in the release. “This tragedy touches all of us in dif-

ferent ways. We saw Brett demonstrate toughness and spirit so many times on the football field. He will be missed.”

Grand Junction police said in a statement released Monday, that after evaluating evidence and conducting numerous interviews they have ruled out suicide. As of press time Wednesday, the department had not posted any news about whether an arrest has been made.

They also asked the public to be patient with the investigation.

The official police state- Brett Ojiyi ment also called the incident a “heart-breaking situation for everyone,” and stated the department’s “sympathies are with families and loved ones who are suffering.”

Retchless wins allaround in Sheridan Brandon Davenport Sports Editor A CSC Cowboy earned allaround honors, and several other CSC entries placed top-five in their events, helping the Eagles’ men’s rodeo team to third place finish at the Sheridan College Rodeo this past weekend.

“I was pretty happy overall with how it went,” Head Rodeo Coach Dustin Luper said. “I believe it’s a marathon that wins the race. I tell these kids we’re gonna stay in the middle and keep chipping away at it. Not change too much; just keep working hard. Consistency is what’s going to get us to the college Finals.

CSC junior of Bayard, cowboy Cole Retchless’ second place finish in steer wrestling, and fourth place effort in team roping, helped earn him the title of all-around cowboy,

the competitor most successful in two or more events, during the rodeo.

Retchless combined rounds of 4.6 and 4.9 seconds in steer wrestling to earn his second place finish.

9.3 and 7.4 second performances in team roping as heeler to University of Wyoming header Jaden Coseo earned him the fourth place finish.

Also in team roping, CSC’s Devin Dibbern, of Riverdale, was the heeler on the third-place finishing team with fellow Eagle Nolan Grint, of North Loup, as header.

The pair combined for a final score of 15.5 seconds.

Kalane Anders, of Bayard, put in steer wrestling times of 4.8 and 5.8 seconds to earn fourth in the event, while teammate Tate Petrak followed just behind in fifth with scores of 4.8 and 6.2 seconds. The event was won by University of Wyoming’s Kade Greer who also took top honors earlier this month at the CSC rodeo.

CSC bareback riders Kyle Bloomquist, of Raymond, Minnesota, coming off a top finish at CSC’s rodeo, and Rowdy Moon, of Sargent, were fifth and sixth, respectively, in Sheridan. Bloomquist scored 141 points while Moon had 135.

The combined men’s performances were good for 355 points earning them third place behind host school Sheridan College in first place with 635 points, and Gillette College with 395.

Chadron’s Breanna Reimler, of Buffalo, Wyoming, was the Eagles’ highest finishing cowgirl taking third in goat tying with performances of 7.9 and 8.2 seconds.

Teammate Kaycee Monnens, of Hulett, Wyoming, was fifth in the event with times of 8.1 and 8.2 seconds.

This weekend the team travels to Central Wyoming College in Riverton, Wyoming.

The Chadron Eagles’ volleyball team picked up their first two RMAC wins Saturday in Gunnison, Colorado, sweeping Western State in three sets, 25-18, 25-21, and 25-14.

Western looked to bounce back after a first set loss to the Eagles, but continuously trailed through the second before a five point rally earned them a 13-12 lead. That lead, however, was quickly erased by a service error, and an attack error on the next rally giving CSC their final lead of the set.

The Eagles then cruised to a set and match win on the back of a ninepoint rally late in the third.

Shelby Schouten, junior of Alton, Iowa, led the Eagles offense in the match with nine kills, while teammate Aracely Hernandez, freshman of Greeley, Colorado, had eight. Eagles’ sophomore Chandler Hageman had a .500 hitting percentage with seven kills on 14 attempts.

Setter Madison Webb, senior of Loveland, Colorado had 29 assists and Ashton Burditt, junior of Spearfish, South Dakota, had 18 digs.

On Friday, the Eagles’ were on the wrong side of the sweep after falling in three sets to Colorado Mesa, in Grand Junction, 25-20, 25-14, and 25-16.

The dominant outing was aided by an outstanding performance by Mesa sophomore Kasie Gilfert who had 20 kills in the match. Gilfert, whose season hitting percentage is second in the RMAC only to teammate Camille Smith, hit .667 in the match. Smith hit .476 and added 12 kills.

Chadron’s Brooke Gardner, junior of Princeville, Illinois, led the eagles with seven kills. Webb was credited with 26 assists and Burditt led all Eagles with 19 digs.

On Tuesday the Eagles traveled to Wayne State to face the nationally ranked Wildcats who defeated the Eagles in three sets, 25-11, 25-18, and 25-18.

This weekend the Eagles face Black Hills State, on Friday, and South Dakota Mines, on Saturday, in homecoming games at Chicoine Center. Matches are set to begin at 6 p.m. each night.

Not your average athletes Horses are key component for rodeo team's timed-event contestants Samantha Persinger Reporter Athletes, both human and equine, play a big role in who wins and who loses in the arena, but a rodeo team’s horsemanship and care for their equine team members is often what brings home buckles.

Horses depend on their owners to provide them care and look after their well-being. Team members rely on their horses to compete and do their best in the arena.

Each rider has their own horse to care for and must do so both in and out of rodeo season, requiring a significant investment of time and money.

According to CSC Head Rodeo Coach Dustin Luper, a typical barrel racing horse might cost anywhere from $20,000 to $60,000, and a roping horse could go for more.

That's just the beginning, and doesn't account for the thousands of dollars it can cost raising and training a horse for competition.

Once trained, Luper says it's typical for a performance horse to cost a rider about $1.50 per day as cowboys and cowgirls are responsible for maintaining the health and performance of the horse, as well as boarding and transporting it to and from competition and practice.

Despite the cost and care, many cowboys and cowgirls believe it’s worth the effort.

Dusty is a 13-year old smoky buckskin owned and ridden by CSC team roper Tate Petrak a junior of Martin, South Dakota. At the age of three, Dusty was purchased by Petrak’s family. After six years of being

a ranch horse, Dusty was trained to be a heel horse, and heeling and roping has been his job ever since.

"With hay and fuel it's about $300 a week, roughly," says Petrak of competition related costs. He says he spends around $1,200 a year in feed, tack, and board.

More than just daily maintenance, Petrak is also financially responsible for Dusty's health, and maintains insurance on him just in case the worst might happen.

Petrak says his veteranarian bill, barring the unexpected, typically runs about $200 a year.

“It’s worth every dime. Not many students get to bring their horse to college,” Petrak says.

The game means more than money, though, Dusty's care takes time.

"I'm with him four days a week," Petrak said. "I take him out to excersise him so he doesn't get sore stading in the pen. And we practice twice a week at the college barn."

Like many rodeo horses, Dusty is reliable. The time spent with his horse helps Petrak ensure he stays that way.

“Trust is the best quality in a rodeo horse. If you have trust that is what binds you together as partners,” Petrak said. “I know when I ask him something and he does it, he trusts me and does his job. Then it all comes together as a partnership.”

Casino Night draws crowd to the Landing Reporter The Andrews Hall staff hosted Casino Night in the Landing from 4-6 p.m., Saturday, for residents to come and compete for a chance at various prizes, ranging from movies to a Keurig Coffee maker.

The event proved to be popular, as 60 students showed up to try and win the prizes up for grabs.

Residents were assigned a set number of poker chips to use at the stations in the room. The stations were manned by the residential advisors of Andrews Hall with a total of five stations for residents to “bet” at.

“I thought it would be interesting, and casino games are usually fun and it would be a good way to connect with other people” Joel Schroeder, 20, junior of Paxton, said.

Students would compete at each of the stations, gambling to win tickets to put into bowls in front of each of the prizes.

Each ticket was worth one entry for a prize. The more tickets with your name, the higher possibility your name would be drawn with the corresponding prize.

“The main goal was to have an opportunity for students to have a fun, enjoyable time while taking a break from their studies,” said Assistant Director of Andrews Anthony Zimny, 30, of Wyoming.

‘The Handmaid’s Tale’ shows example of extreme society Mariah Linders Contributor Hulu Original’s “The Handmaid’s Tale” started off with a bang when it premiered in 2017. The binge-worthy series is about fertile women being enslaved in a society and given the role of handmaids, where they are only allowed to have children for married couples who cannot bear children of their own. Of course, the series is more than just women having children. The plot is filled with scandal, like when handmaids attempt to escape to the Canadian border; heartbreak when a child is ripped from his mother’s arms before she is then sent to become a handmaid; passion in the affair between a handmaid and her commander’s driver and deceit of a commander cheating on his wife.

The series shows what a handmaid’s everyday life is like through the main character, Offred. Offred is a woman who was separated from her husband and daughter when this new form of government took over. Her real name is June, but she was given the name of Offred when she was placed with her most recent commander, Fred Waterford. The name is a combination of the word “of,” signifying the ownership of the com-

mander over his handmaid and the commander’s first name.

This is just one of the many rules instilled by the government in control of what was once the United States of America.

“The Handmaid’s Tale” is set in Gilead, a new United States ruled by an extremely religious form of government that took control after the assassination of the current president. The rulers of the country believe all things should be done through God, from assigning barren women to work as maids in the houses of commanders to grooming the children born before the US became Gilead to be handmaids themselves.

Handmaids were given their role after being taken from their spouses or partners and deemed fertile. These handmaids then attend a “boot camp” that shows them how to behave before they are sent to live with their commander and mistress (the wife of the commander). This camp involves physical and emotional torture, such as electrocution by a cattle prod, eye removal, hands burned, lashes to the soles of the feet and worse.

When they have sufficiently completed the proper training to become a handmaid, they are sent to their new homes where they will go grocery shopping for the commander and mistress and once a month, will perform “the Ceremony.” The

Ceremony is a ritual that the handmaid, commander and mistress take part in to conceive a baby. This is done every month until the handmaid becomes pregnant. After the handmaid gives birth and the baby can be bottle-fed, the handmaid is then sent to another household to fulfill the same duty as before.

Although Gilead is a religious place, scandals occur at every corner. Commanders fall for handmaids and handmaids fall for drivers and their commanders. Doctors offer to impregnate the handmaids, and there is even a secret hotel where commanders visit to spend time with the jezebels, or Gilead’s prostitutes. In the midst of Gilead, a rebellion is forming and the handmaids are preparing to fight back against their government. Severe consequences are a constant threat for all levels of the government, and there are twists around every corner.

All of these factors are constantly threatened to happen, but you never know when it actually will .

If you enjoy sitting on the edge of your seat and getting involved in an extremely twisted plot, then this series is a great way to procrastinate all of the homework you should be doing.

“The Handmaid’s Tale” is the real deal.

Pit crowns pool tourney champion Chase Vialpando Reporter

After five hours of balls clacking, a crowd hollering and music echoing, a graduate student took home gold in the Pit Pool Tournament Thursday night.

The contest began at 9 p.m. Sept. 20 in the Student Center at the Pit. About 40 contestants fought for the title of best pool player.

There were no restrictions on who was allowed to register, so people from all around the community were in attendance.

Competitors and onlookers alike enjoyed free water and pizza provided by the Pit. The prize for first place was an $80 Walmart gift card. The second place player won a $70 gift card, and the player in third won a $40 gift card.

Players of all skill levels competed in the bracket-style, double elimination contest.

At about 1 a.m., after most pool players were eliminated and only a few dedicated spectators remained at the Pit, the final matches took place and the prizewinners were determined.

The pool tournament champion Anas Haddadi, 25, graduate student of Chadron, narrowly defeated Baker after winning two out of three of their final games.

Second place holder was Trevor Baker, 23, senior of Rapid City, South Dakota.

Local man Gerard Sebastian won third place, but because the prizes were bought with student fund money, he wasn’t eligible for the gift card. The next student in line eligible for the prize was Lukas Klueber, 20, junior of Rapid City, South Dakota who placed fourth.

Students craft their way into fall season Chessa Parker Reporter Laughter, music and the smell of fresh paint filled the air of the Hub from 6-9 p.m.

Friday night during the RLA event, Craft into Fall.

This was the first event put on by RLA member Lena Aslan, 19, sophomore of Elizabeth, Colorado.

With a budget of over $100, the RLA members provided an assortment of paints, brush-

es, coloring utensils, beads, yarn and ribbons varying in color and type.

Using the supplies, students were given the choice of painting a wooden picture frame, which was a new addition this year, painting anything they wanted on a blank canvas, coloring on pages from a coloring book or all of the above.

The imagination used to create the student decorations was fueled by a colorful array of food.

This included vegetable trays, chocolate chip muffins, blueberry muffins, an assort-

ment of fall themed cookies, water and all different types of soda.

Feven Hailemariam, 19, sophomore of Ethiopia, was one of the many students participating in the event and getting into the fall spirit.

Even though she wasn’t sure what she was going to make, Hailemariam said she was “just going to let it flow.”

The room was packed from end to end with students running out of places to sit.

“From the previous experiences that we did with the craft one, we had like over sixty

in the past, so we’re just kind of shooting for the same number here,” Aslan said.

It was no surprise that the event exceeded the goal with 101 students attending.

The original RLA members who held the Craft Into Fall event also held a Craft Into Spring Event, which current RLA members may revamp depending on the turnout from Friday.

Students who enjoyed the Craft Into Fall event can get excited as Aslan plans on hosting a Make Your Own Christmas Ornament program later this semester.
