The 59th annual East York Canada Day celebrations are set for Friday, July 1. The celebration of Canada’s 148th birthday begins with a parade, continues with a party in the park and concludes with fireworks. Organized by the dedicated volunteers who make up the East York Toronto Canada Day Corportation, the program for next Friday is as follows: The parade leaves Dieppe Park, 455 Cosburn Ave., at 10 a.m. Featuring marching bands, floats and marchers from numerous local organizations, the parade ends at Stan Wadlow at 11:30 a.m. after making its way through the East York community. The parade route heads east from Dieppe Park along Cosburn, turns south at Coxwell Avenue to Sammon Avenue where it heads east again to Woodbine Avenue where it ends at Stan Wadlow Park. The rest of the Canada Day celebrations take part in Stan Wadlow Park, 888 Cosburn Ave., from 11 a.m. through to the beginning of the fireworks at approximately 10 p.m. Official opening ceremonies are set for the park at noon. There will be displays, food, activities, games, carnival rides, vendor booths and entertainment at the park. For more info, please visit www.eycdc.ca
