Tara Hatherly thatherly@insidetoronto.com Residents are invited to help honour a former mayor’s commitment to the East York community, during the 20th annual Agnes Macphail Award ceremony this Sunday. This year’s award will be presented to Alan Redway, mayor of East York from 1977 to 1982, for an being outstanding contributor to community life. Ceremony on Sunday Sunday’s ceremony begins at 2:30 p.m. at the East York Civic Centre, 850 Coxwell Ave. A performance by The VOCA Chorus of Toronto will kick off the celebration, followed by a speech from Barbara Hall, chief commissioner for the Ontario Human Rights Commission. Redway also represented East York federally, serving as MP for the former riding of York East from 1984 to 1988, and as MP for the newly-created Don Valley East riding from 1988 to 1993.
