Page joins lineup for Riverdale Share

The lineup for a special 20th anniversary Riverdale Share holiday charity concert Sunday, Dec. 9 at 3 p.m., is complete. And with showtime just more than a week away, there are still plenty of tickets available. The show is not only back after a one-year hiatus, but back at the Danforth Music Hall. Known for raising both holiday cheer and funds for local grassroots charities that do their good work in the east end, the annual holiday charity concert always receives huge volunteer support from area musicians, including its share of prominent performers. Confirming another return for the 20th anniversary show is Steven Page who will be doing a tribute to the late Jack Layton with the Centre of Gravity Circus. Also on hand will be African a cappella ensemble Soul Influence, children’s entertainers Sharon and Lois, Fergus Hambleton and Tim Bovaconti of reggae group The

Sattalites, Canadian country legend Russell deCarle from Prairie Oyster, Robert Priest, Suzie Vinnick, Debbie Fleming, Mia Sheard, Michael Brennan and the Eastminster choir. A special guest will be the founder of Riverdale Share Bill Usher, who is traveling back from British Columbia to perform. He’s a three-time JunoAward winner and a Danforth Tech grad. “Joining band leader Steve Briggs and musical director Tom Leighton will be host Mike Tanner of The Circumstantialists,” said Susan Baker, Riverdale Share’s volunteer executive director and the show’s producer. March of the Santas set for the Danforth Santa’s coming to the Danforth this weekend, and he will have his marching boots on. Greektown on the Danforth BIA will host the March of the Santas this Saturday and Sunday, featuring more than two dozen Santas. On both days, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., visitors to Danforth Avenue are invited to join the marching Santas every hour on the hour at Alexander the Great Parkette. Participants can take photos with the Santas and there will also be a free Toronto Community News Christmas Arts & Crafs Centre as
