What will I learn in this subject?

Students will learn a wide variety of topics which include:

» Fundamental Movement Skills » Physical Activity for Health and Wellbeing » Gymnastics » Dance » Games » Outdoor and Adventure Studies

How will I learn in this subject?

Students will learn through a mixture of theory and practical classes.

Is learning this subject in CPS anything like what I did in Primary School?

There will be some similarities between what you did in primary school and in CPS however we will go through content in more detail, focusing on skill acquisition, game theory and tactics.

How will this subject be useful to me?

PE is very useful for a person as it teaches them about how to maintain a healthy lifestyle. It also teaches students to appreciate a wide variety of games. You will learn the rules for lots of new sports as well as how to employ tactics to games. These skills can be used outside of school for sports you play in clubs to simply keeping fit yourself.

Assessment?

You will be assessed through a variety of ways. Teachers will assess your practical work throughout the course and give you feedback. Students in 2nd Year will also complete a Classroom Based Assessment (CBA) which goes towards their Junior Cycle Grade.
