SUBJECT: Preparation for the World of Work

What is this subject all about at Senior Cycle?

This subject prepares students for adult life and the world of work. Students develop skills such as communication, innovation/ enterprising, taking responsibility of their own learning and working with others as part of a team. This subject is broken down into different areas such as learning about the world of work, Enterprise Education, I.C.T. and preparation of an end of year portfolio. This subject has a dynamic focus on self-directed learning.

Will learning this subject at Senior Cycle be different to what I studied at Junior Cycle?

This subject prepares you for all areas of working life. You will carry out a career investigation to see what the career that you are interested in pursuing entails and you will also participate in work experience. Students will also have the opportunity to develop their interview skills and techniques along with gaining invaluable practice at completing application forms.

Assessment?

Students are assessed regularly throughout the academic year in a range of ways including through individual tasks, group projects and semester assessments.
