Mercer Labs, Museum of Art and Technology (MOAT) seeks to be the leading site for public engagement at the intersection of art and technology. Led by artist Roy Nachum, the museum examines the processes by which we create with art and experiment with technology. Located in the heart of New York City, Mercer Labs is a catalyst, provoking an open-ended dialogue between these two realms.
At 36,000 sq ft, this new hybrid cultural project in the heart of Lower Manhattan hosts fifteen exhibition spaces utilizing state-of-the-art technology in a distinct architectural setting. Mercer Labs is committed to exhibiting thoughtprovoking art through immersive installations and provocative experiments. The museum is a place where art meets science and art humanizes technology. Brought to life by the minds of artist Roy Nachum and visionary developer Michael Cayre and their innovative laboratory of master technical directors, Mercer Labs breaks free of conventional constraints on creative practice.
Mercer Labs explores space and time and is devoted to experimenting with the newest developments in machine intelligence. Through a diverse range of techniques and systems, from robotics and algorithms to hyperreal video and spatial audio to and large-scale installations and painting. With every brushstroke of code and every meticulously designed interactive interface, we investigate uncharted territory. A permanent institution in New York’s museum landscape.
Roy Nachum, co-founder and the creative force behind the project is known for his multi-disciplinary practice that experiments with human perception and through painting, sculpture, architecture, technology and design. Nachum is an artist with the unique ability to bridge creative barriers and bring people together. His works often include Braille messages and the recurring subject of a child with a gold crown covering his or her eyes, suggesting “blindness†caused by displaced values and desire. The Crown Kid is a symbol of humility, diversity and human equality, a vehicle to allow viewers to confront their own existential apprehensions.

Widely regarded as one of the finest of its kind, British artist Howard Hodgkin’s collection of Indian paintings includes works created at the Mughal, Deccan, Rajput, and Pahari courts dating from the 16th to the 19th century. Opening at The Metropolitan Museum of Art on February 6, 2024, the exhibition Indian Skies: The Howard Hodgkin Collection of Indian Court Painting will present a unique and personal vision of India’s great painting tradition through newly acquired works from the artist’s collection.
The exhibition will present over 120 examples of Indian court paintings assembled by Hodgkin over a lifetime of collecting. This highly individual collection represents the artist’s response to the color, subject matter, and the emotive content of Indian painting. The exhibition will comprise works newly acquired by the Museum and will be supplemented by loans from The Howard Hodgkin Indian Collection Trust.
Underlying Hodgkin’s eclectic collection—which includes portraits, palace scenes, royal hunts, illustrations to religious epics, devotional subjects, and nature studies—are several unifying themes that reflect Hodgkin’s preferences for compositions that convey narrative drama, poetic allusion, and emotional intensity. He also had a predilection for elephants rendered as portraits and in action.
The exhibition reflects Hodgkin’s personal taste while remaining true to the scholarly traditions around Indian painting. The paintings will be arranged in a chronological sequence by school, starting with the earliest works of the 16thcentury Mughal era and related Deccani works, followed by the later Rajput and Pahari schools. A third space is given over to the celebration of the elephant paintings, which span all schools. The presentation will also include Hodgkin’s paintings Small Indian Sky and In Mirza’s Room, which will be shown in association with related Indian works, alluding to the subtle relationship between Hodgkin’s own work, India, and his collection.

“Eleanor Roosevelt is an inspiration & heroine for me. She is the third person chosen for my on going series... “Great American Women.” While in production, & researching details necessary for this show, my admiration grew, discovering who she was, where she started, what she stood for, & her enormous contributions to this country & the world. This series is my way of honoring achievements of women in this country who have dedicated their life & work to furthering knowledge that benefits humankind. My purpose is to share with everyone, especially younger women, about the life accomplishments of great American Women, giving them role models & encouragement for their own dreams, visions, & abilities, enhancing their stance as powerful independent social contributors. “
-MeadowMeadow is Founder/Director of “The Great American Women’s Sculpture Park,” at Woodrock where she lives & every summer curates an outdoor sculpture show with 10-13 women artists. Her work was featured in “Energy Revisited” at SUNY OCCC, Newburgh, NY, & Mid-Hudson Heritage Museum in Poughkeepsie for Women’s History Month. She completed a 5’x8’x5’ installation piece “Rest Hour for Mother Nature” for “Dear Mother Earth” at SUNY Samuel Dorsky Museum, New Paltz, NY. She had a show called “American Beauty,” at Smart Clothes Gallery, NYC, a solo show
“Eleanor, Investigation of a Theme” at Coffee Gallery, Kingston, NY & was a featured artist at Imagine Gallery, NYC, and “Peace & Justice Show” at Muroff-Kotler Visual Arts Gallery at SUNY Ulster, Stoneridge, NY.
Meadow continues to produce mixed-media work bouncing back and forth between mediums so her work remains fresh and challenging. Switching form her “Boid” pastel series to acrylic and encaustic paintings from her long standing “Captured Energy Series,” which is the largest collection of artwork Meadow has produced; to a line of ceramic work from her “Heritage Series” featuring imprinting texture from antique crochet pieces into clay. Then switches again to producing sculpture in the “Wood Spirit Series,” called “Erotic By Nature” using twigs and small branches, some with doll heads, arms and feet. They are delightfully weird and funny... but humor is an important element in Meadow’s work. She produced this humor in a series of soft sculpture called the “Sockettes!” They are all made from socks, sock parts, trims, lace, buttons and yarn. They are elaborate versions of antique sock dolls but with a Meadow twist!

Made by hand in Poland by expert knive designer Radosław Łęgowik, this knive is extremely comfortable in hand thnaks to a Micarta handle that fits perfectly the hand. The design is superb, and the stonewash of the blade looks beautiful.
We have tested his LKW knife to cut large pieces of wood to make fire: It works perfectly and the best part is the extreme efficiency of the blade, as well as the comfort in hand, with or without gloves. The edge retention is exceptional and we didn’t need to sharpen the blade to keep cutting wood even after a full day of hard work. The design of the handle is particularly well made and allows a perfect hand fit.
Fällkniven S1xb
Tungsten Carbide
Fallkniven is making knives in Boden city, close to the Arctic Circle in the very north of Europe. Living up here, the brand understand how to develop products for a safe survival in the woods. As a result, they are suppliers to military elite forces all around the world, including the US Marine and US Navy. This knife feels strong in hand, and has a beautiful black coating. It is a piece of art. The blade is exceptionnaly sturdy and will not bend or break even in tough conditions. This is a knife you can rely on in survival situations. The basis of the S1xb-knife’s strength lies in the laminated cobalt steel, and also in the wellthought-out construction in which break zones have been eliminated.
The Fallkniven S1xb after 48h of abuse: Some cosmetic damage, but the blade is still very sharp. We didn’t hold back on the S1xb and pushed it to its limits. This knife has seriously impressed us by its extreme robustness, and full tang construction. It can be used as a prying tool to open a box or do repairs on a car without any risk of breaking. What we like in this knife is the absolute peace of mind its gives to its owner. It will always work in any condition. Special mention for the very secure sheath with a double security feature.
This knife was developped by Ethan Becker, an avid outdoorsman considered to be the foremost expert in knifemaking. The BK2 is an absolute beast. With the thickest blade of all knives reviewed, it is an industrial-strenght tool that will never let you down, wether for batoning large pieces of wood or pry open just anything in a survival situation.
The BK2 is more recommended for people with large hands as the handle is quite thick. Perfect for hardcore jobs such as digging, batoning, cutting electric wires. This is THE classic survival knife, virtually indestructible. It is not a surprise to learn that many soldiers have preferred it to their standard issued knife. More than a knife, this is a piece of history.
The FreeReign® Fixed Blade by Demko Knives features a full tang constructed handle with a rubberized grip. This allows for better handling and grip strength while battling tough outdoor elements. The handle is supremely comfortable and allows a perfect and precise handling. We like the overall very elegant design of this knife.
The blade is extremely sharp right out of the box and excels at making feathersticks. Due to the remarkable comfort of the handle, doing heavy duty work will not hurt your hand, even without gloves.
