The life of a fishing guide has it's benefits.

HAPPY NEW YEAR We made it! As we creep past the 6 year mark at Fluid Magazine, we gotta say, it feels amazing. The craziest thing about it all is how fast this whole adventure has flown by. I remember the very first issue we ever created. I gotta say we were pretty clueless, but by God's grace, all the stars aligned. When we first dove into the publication world, it almost seemed like a bad idea to start a magazine in Central Florida. The economy was really bad, and it seemed like it couldn’t have been a worse time. We assembled an all-star team and hit the streets full force! It wasn’t easy by any means, but over the years, making each issue has been an experience to remember, constant peaks and valleys, but always memorable. The best part of Fluid has been the relationships we've made along the way, and the creative process that goes into producing each issue. I feel so blessed to make it where we have. It’s not easy by any means. It can be overwhelming, for sure! Each issue gets better, progression is good and that is what we strive for. We are constantly arguing about what we should feature and what should get cut. It's good, though. It just means we are trying to showcase all the positive topics in Central Florida and are passionate enough to fight about it. I guess what I am getting at is Fluid Magazine has been such a great experience. From all the great people I've met, to all the life lessons. I couldn't be any happier to be the editor of Fluid Magazine! Thank you to all our advertisers and supporters! To find out more about having your business involved in Fluid Magazine, our contact info is on the next page. Shoot us an email! Let’s team up and help you grow your business. Bryan Forand | Editor

CAROLINE MARKS

Photos: Jimmy Wilson

At the end of 2017, Caroline Marks accomplished an amazing feat. She is the youngest surfer (male or female) to ever qualify for the Championship Tour, at only 15 years old! She's been rewriting the record books since she was 11 years old and has been on a fast-track to surf stardom since she came onto the surf scene. She has 17 national titles attributed to her name, is the youngest NSSA Open Girls National Champion and is the youngest surfer ever to compete in a CT event when she was a wildcard at Lower Trestles in 2015. Beyond all these accomplishments, she is a well mannered and the nicest person you will ever meet. You know where it all starts, from the family down. Caroline’s parents and brothers are a huge part of her success and the best support system you could ever ask for. Let's hear more from Caroline about how she is feeling about all of this.

18

Congrats on making the Women's Championship Tour. This is an amazing accomplishment! What are your thoughts on this? It's definitely a dream come true. It's funny because the first interview I ever I did, I list one of my goals as making the world tour, & I'm so happy that it's coming true. At the beginning of 2017, I had no idea I wanted to qualify. I wasn't thinking about it at all. Things just happened so fast. I did well in Australia in the beginning of the year, so I kept doing ‘QS events for experience, and I kept doing well in them. I was more focused on getting good on challenging waves, & I wasn't putting any pressure on myself. I was still doing amateurs and juniors, and the ‘QS was just the fun stuff. But now that I've made it, I'm really stoked. This is what I want to do. I feel like I'm ready for it now. Photo: @surfsupwolf

Is there a certain stop on tour that you are most excited about? I’m really excited about Bells Beach and Jbay. Obviously I'm excited about the first stop of the year, The Roxy Pro on the Gold Coast of Australia. I love going backside on rights when surfing and all those stops are right hand point breaks. You’re the first East Coaster to compete on the Women’s Championship Tour in a decade! We need more east coasters on the tour! Do you still spend a good bit of time on the east coast? I’m stoked to be representing the East Coast. I live in California now but I’m never really there hardly because of my schedule. I'm constantly traveling. I love coming back to my roots on the east coast and surfing with all my best friends. I absolutely love the east coast!! Who is your biggest inspiration? I would have to say my mom, she is really incredible. She has 6 kids and basically is a super mom. I know I'm a handful, haha. She is my inspiration, and I look up to her daily. Your family is amazing!! Will anyone be traveling with you this year for moral support? Yes, I have to travel with someone cause my age. I want everyone with me for the entire year, but they’ll be taking turns.

19

Watching you surf live, I was blown away by your power! What type of training have you incorporated into your workouts? Thank you. I started training at Foundation Fitness in San Clemente for the past six or seven months. Mainly focusing on endurance and strength training. For surfing you want to be lean, but you also want to be the strongest one. They've helped in all those areas. What was your biggest win so far in your surfing career? I would have to say my win at the US Open or the ISA gold medal the I received at the Azores Portugal. But the biggest accomplishment is my second place finish at the QS 6,000 Pantin Pro in Galicia, Spain and making the world tour. Outside of surfing what do you enjoy? I love to fish. I enjoy working on my fitness. I also like to hunt and ride dirt bikes. All that fun stuff! Favorite wave in Florida and why? Umm, wow. I love Sebastian Inlet and Melbourne. That is where I grew up and surfed all the time. It was always my favorite, because I was out with my family all the time. Also, I have to say Monster Hole is a favorite. It's really fickle but when it's on, it gets pretty good. Any last words or shout outs? Huge thanks to my family and sponsors for amazing support! I truly am so blessed to have all them. They are an amazing support and all I could ever ask for.

FLUID SOUNDS: DAVID HAKOJARVI Photo: PATRICK RUDDY

Where are you based out of? Port Orange. Originally from? Daytona Beach How long have you all been singing and playing instruments? I have been playing music since I was 7. I started with Piano, then trumpet, guitar, mandolin, tenor banjo, & bass. I should be a lot better by now. Haha!! Do you play music full time or have a side job? I play full time. Around 280 gigs a year. Who's your favorite local band (besides your own of course)? Tough question. I’d have to say Beartoe, Ben Prestage, Meagan Katarina, and Psychedelic Monks.

Where will you be 5 years from now? Hopefully still playing music. Not sure where but still pickin’. If you could tour with any band of your choosing, who would it be with? Allman Brothers, hands down. But since that can’t happen, Tedeschi Trucks Band. Favorite venue to play? Beachside Tavern and The Cabbage Patch If you had to describe your music in less than five words... A little bit of everything.

LOT of awesome opportunities. I really enjoyed playing Bear Creek in 2010. That was when I got to watch and hang out back stage with all the bands I had been listening to at the time. It was definitely inspiring and star struck at the same time, but they were all really nice. Anything you'd like to add? The stage is yours. Thank you Fluid Magazine. Everyone go see live music. There’s a ton of good stuff to hear out there. Thanks to God for blessing me with such good musician friends to play with and a passion for music. I wouldn’t trade music for anything in the world. And a shout out to my good buddy Eric Christian for booking gigs.

What do you think your "greatest opportunity" has been thus far in your music career? Umm, not sure. There have been A Sponsored by:

LOCAL PHOTOGRAPHER SPOTLIGHT

BEHIND THE LENS

Photographer:

DALTON SMITH Lives in: Indialantic, FL Shooting since: 2010 Age: 26 @thelifeofdaltonsmith

Hi Dalton, where and when was the last image you captured? New York City, which was definitely a change of pace from the ocean. I’m always battling my love for video or photo, so this last trip I shot photos for the first time in a while. What’s a normal day in your life look like? Hectic. I start the day taking care of the dogs/house and then my schedule fills in the blanks. Every day is different, but when I’m not traveling, my days are maxed out from start to finish. You can usually find me shooting, editing, surfing or I'm adventuring around the Space Coast. Give us a little background on how you got into photography? When I was young, maybe 12 years old, I started shooting on this tape camcorder making skate videos, but it wasn’t until my dad gave me his old school 35mm camera around 2010 that I really got hooked. I believe it was 2011 when I got my first GoPro and that literally changed everything. Everyone called us the wild boys because we were fully dedicated to doing wild stunts, surfing, and adventuring. We put everything on YouTube, which unintentionally started my 24

career. Throughout the years photography became a bigger influence alongside videography, so it’s always been a struggle deciding between the two when I want to capture something. You are quite the young entrepreneur. Tell us about NPI Productions and how you came up with the concept. It gets me stoked to hear that. Going from a kid with a GoPro to a full time production company took time and it’s amazing to be where we are today. I suppose we have to start with the story of NPI, which stands for no pun intended. Long story short, my step-dad said no pun intended at dinner on my 16th birthday so we were basically hassling him saying NPI after everything we said. It ultimately turned into this thing our whole crew said in high school so we put NPI on t-shirts, skateboards and everything we owned, but no one even knew what we were talking about. Fast forward five years and I’m selling my first billboard photo to Ron Jon Surf Shop. Corey Howell is a long time Ron Jon team rider and the day I met him my company went from a YouTube channel to a real company overnight. Since we sold that first photo there has been exponential growth

including a continued relationship with Ron Jon's, hundreds of clients around the world, insane amounts of involvement with the Space Coast Office of Tourism and a few projects that were basically our own version of a TV show. When people ask me what we do, the best answer is that we do everything; Commercial advertisement, product advertisements, event coverage, short films and if you have something else beyond that, we want in. What inspires you? I find inspiration for almost every film I make or image I capture from music. The way I describe it is that when the right song plays I see visuals based on what I’m feeling and seeing. If I ever need inspiration I always turn to music. Beyond that I find the most inspirational thing for me is to help open the eyes of other people so that they too can pursue their dreams. My platform has turned into this awesome mix of my work combined with the experiences I have encountered on this journey that brought me here. There’s more to every success story than just hustling, so I share everything I learn with those around me so they can take something from it just as I did.

Is there anyone who helped you the most on your way to become a photographer? So many people contributed to our growth over the years, but if I had to pick one person (which is not easy) it would be Corey Howell. There are a lot of reasons behind this, but the most important is we are a powerful team. We both built our own businesses and time after time we use each other’s experience and connections to grow together. It all started with that single Ron Jon billboard, but for us to develop and execute the plans we have in 5 years while also being close friends speaks for itself. What is your favorite place to shoot? When it comes to surfing and waves I love shooting in the Caribbean. From Puerto Rico to Barbados there are so many beautiful spots with epic surf and electric blue water. When I’m looking for a good adventure and new photos, the Florida Keys is hands down my go to spot. Over the years I have had some insane experiences in the Keys and nearly all of them are documented on camera, so it just brings me back time after time. What do you enjoy the most about being a photographer in our area?

This area is all I need and I can vouch for that after traveling all over. Don’t get me wrong, there are some crazy epic places I have visited and photographed but there are so many possibilities, locations and good people in this area. Some people don’t see it and that’s ok, because there is a huge door opening for content creators in this area and to be successful right here at home is a serious blessing. Any trips planned for 2018? One of my goals for 2018 is to do some form of a trip once a month and hit at least 3-6 completely new places. Right now I have my sights set on Colombia, Iceland, Canada, somewhere new in the Caribbean and somewhere in Europe. In addition to this, we have a new series titled Daycations, so I foresee a lot of short trips across the US all year. Are you currently working on any new projects? Our team is always maxed out with various projects for our clients, but there are a few big ones coming up that we are excited about. First is the Sebastian Inlet Pro going down in January, which is going to be huge.

Beyond that we have big things happening with the office of tourism, our new series Daycation’s is about to launch, filming for the fourth season of our series STOK3 and some really rad projects with Ron Jon's. Walking into the year with big projects lined up has us really excited to see what’s next. Do you have a few tips for young aspiring photographers? Be consistent with your craft and never stop growing. To stand out you must find your own niche and keep digging until it sticks. Success has different meanings to everyone, but I have found that when you let go and follow your heart everything else will follow. Any Last words or shout outs? I just want to thank all of my friends, family and supporters for literally enabling us to make it this far. Things that seem small actually add up over time, so every magazine write up, every sticker someone put up at their local spot and every person that supported NPI has contributed to what we are now. Teamwork makes the dream work, and we look forward to growing with everyone that has our back! Sponsored by:

YELLOW DAWG FISHING

CAPT. JAMIE THRAPPAS

What are three items you never leave the dock without? Sunglasses (Native Eyewear to be exact), Bait, & my Yellow Dawg! What is your favorite species to target? Snook, for sure. Preferred Rig? Free line with live bait, or a gold spoon around the oyster bars. What types of fishing charters do you offer? Mostly inshore around Ponce and the surrounding creeks north to Port Orange. In the spring I run the beaches for cobia and nearshore reef trips in the summer. Who is your favorite person to fish with and why? I fish with my buddy Marty a lot. We grew up together on the Chesapeake Bay and now we kill it down here!

good news is they put it back on! Where else, besides Florida, have you had the opportunity to fish? I spent a lot of time fishing and crabbing the Chesapeake Bay growing up for monster stripped Bass, white perch, & trout lining for blue crabs. My favorite place in the world to fish, though, is down in the FL Keys. My brother lives there so I spend a good bit of time down south. Any last words or people to thank? I can’t forget my first mate crew Jenny, Matt, Alex, and Skye !

"... Probably cutting my finger off poking holes in a cup lid for fiddler crabs. Not exactly sure how I managed that one, but the good news is they put it back on"

What attributes separate an OK fishing guide compared to what you would consider a great guide? #1 is obviously catching fish, but #2 you’ve got to be personal and make it a great experience. My sales background and being a bartender in college certainly plays a part in my ability to connect with my clients. What do you feel is the biggest challenge with being a guide in our area? I tell every one I love fishing here because we have a little bit of everything FL has to offer, but the biggest challenge would be distance. Everything is spread out! Can you tell me about how you got into guiding and how you got to where you are today? My Dad, my brother, my cousin all ran charter businesses while I was growing up. My goal was to make a successful career in Corporate America and then retire young and become a guide… After college & 8 years on the road in sales I left that world and fishing just sort of came natural. The name on my charter boat when I bought it was “The Office”, go figure. Do you fish tournaments? Not currently, I am almost always booked on the weekend! Do you have a rival when it comes to fishing competitively? Nah, most charter Capt’s get along. If I’m over booked I send the local guys customers and they do the same in return. That’s the way it should be. What’s your most embarrassing fishing story/memory? Probably cutting my finger off poking holes in a cup lid for fiddler crabs. Not exactly sure how I managed that one, but the 27

Boat Pose is the classical core portion of class. To come into boat pose, roll past your tailbone and tuck the pelvic floor under. Navel kisses the spine. Engage the core and begin to lift the legs together while lifting the arms as well. Full expression, legs are together and straight and you clasp the big toes. More commonly seen, legs are slightly bent but lifted or toes are gently rested on the floor. For more intense, lower down to low boat and lift up into boat on each exhale. Repeat 10 times. Plank pose is a fundamental pose in Hatha

yoga and is done in almost all physical classes. Start by spreading your fingers wide, stack your shoulders above wrist, lift out of the lower back by engaging your core (uddiyana bandha), press the mat away to lift out of the shoulder blades, broadening your shoulders, activate your leg muscles, come high on toes and press back in the heels. Every muscle works together in this pose, the abdomen, protecting your lower back and strengthen the body. Hold for 1 minute. To modify, lower knees to mat. From plank pose, lower down to low plank (or a yogi pushup). This is different than a regular push up because you tuck the elbows and triceps towards the body, eventually aligning the elbows and shoulders. Press up to high plank. Either hold low plank for 30 seconds or keep integrity in the pose and body by keeping the core in tact, and do 5-10 yogi pushups. To modify, take the knees to the mat. For more intense, lower down to your forearms for forearm plank. Keep the body in a straight line from heels to crown of the head. Do not sink down in lower back or lift the butt in the air. More advance take dolphin or forearm balance.

Dolphin Pose - From forearm plank begin to

CORE STRENGTH YOGA EXERCISES FOR 2018 It is a new year and time for a new you. Yoga is a great way to rediscover yourself but also to get in great shape and find your inner core. All asanas (poses) are core exercises, or the core can be incorporated. Yoga is for everyone. You do not have to be flexible, you do not have to be fit, you do not have to be a yogi; you just have to be open with a desire to better your life physically, mentally and spiritually. In this article I will discuss the most common core poses in yoga. Try these 6 primary poses to help strengthen your core.

Sponsored by:

Uddiyana Bandha - Naval energy lock. In yoga, we use bandhas throughout our practice. Bandhas are energy locks that are used in Hatha yoga to strengthen your core, but to also harbour energy within, giving you more endurance and prana (energy) for your practice. Bandhas are most commonly seen in meditation and pranayama (breath work); however, you can incorporate 1, 2 or all 3 bandhas throughout all poses. The most common seen throughout a yoga class is your Uddiyana Bandha. This is used by contracting your abdomen into the rib cage. Engaging the core throughout your yoga practice is important in creating harmony and balance within each pose, but it also connects your back to your inner child, your core.

lift your hips in the air, walk the feet towards the elbows, eventually stacking the shoulders on the elbows. It is important to constantly press the forearms away from the mat creating space between the head and the mat. Root the heals towards the mat, it does not matter if the heels touch the mat. Engage the core, kissing the navel to the spine. Hold 1 minute.

Crow pose - This is a beginner arm balance

pose. Start with your feet hip distance apart, and place your hands under your shoulders. Spread the fingers wide and begin to bend your arms, as you keep elbows tucked in towards the body. Begin to shift your weight into your hands and come high on your toes. Rest your knees on your triceps, the higher the better, aiming for the armpits. Begin to lift one foot off at a time. To modify, keep toes on mat, place a block in front of you about 3 feet to rest your forehead as you shift forward. Engage the core and breathe.

JAN/FEB FISHING OUTLOOK

FISHING REPORT SKYE KNOWS BEST | by: Skye Burkhardt Happy New Year everyone! I hope this year is a prosperous one for all. The last few months and into this month of January we have had very little cold fronts coming through. The water clarity is getting a bit better due to some of the cooler weather. As you know, winter in the lagoon is not defined by any specific date but rather by the temperature difference from the passing cold fronts that are 60's in the morning hours and hitting the 70's by the afternoon hours, with that making the water temps jump a few degrees warmer. All of these factors affect species targeted and the methods used. Fishing in the Lagoon has been pretty successful. You will find yourself reeling in and getting those “grand slams" multiple times. You know, the ones you work hard for in the heat of Summer; Snook, Trout, and Redfish. I’m Still seeing Tarpon in the far south of the Lagoon. Where are the fish hanging and what baits to use, you ask? On my paddle into Mosquito Lagoon I stop to fish near by docks and have been finding Snook schooled, Redfish and Trout by the dozens! With free lining a shrimp and depending if the tides moving and how fast it is ripping, I’ll toss on a split shot. With the cooler water temps, Snook have found themselves schooled up in their winter hangouts. You can land these beauties by the dozens right now. Due to them being schooled, the size of your Snook you land varies. Simply free lining a live shrimp or working a soft plastic, a DOA 3'' Shad Tail or '3" Paddle Tail is my preferred bait choice, Snook, Red fish, Trout they all hit and can’t resist these soft plastics. It’s that time we start seeing those convicts hanging around docks, rocks, bridges and where there is structure. They can be found in the surf, piers, Ponce Inlet, Halifax River and even in Mosquito Lagoon. I have been finding them scattered in the flats. But they are much harder to land in the lagoon, because they are finicky in the clear waters much more so than Red fish. Also keep in mind it is essential to use a hook small enough to fit the small mouth of the fish, 1 or 1/0 would be the trick to success. Using a small piece of bait like shrimp, if you toss on a full size shrimp you will find they will often slowly nip pieces off and leave you reeling in a hook and wondering how long you had been fishing on credit. That's Sheepshead for ya!

@brassyhooker87 Inshore Adventures with Skye

Where you can find cooler water in the Lagoon, you can find Trout! You will find them up in the shallower water where the temperatures are warmer, basking in sand holes and grass patches. Using a soft plastic on a weedless hook retrieving it back slowly with a pop and sink pop action, small top waters, popping corks and live shrimp are all great baits to use when targeting Trout. Due to the wind, wind and well more wind, it stirs up the muck and makes the water dirty and the water clarity poor. So it has been a little more challenging sight-casting for those elusive Redfish here in the flats. So those days you will find yourself having to watch for pushing wake and tailing Reds. I find that days like these in the lagoon are much more successful when free lining a live jumbo shrimp. Those beauties I am speaking of love the sun and warmer water, making it easier to find them schooled up against the mangroves in the grassy flats and sand holes in the shallow parts of the Lagoon. Again you just cant go wrong with a soft plastic DOA 3" shad tail or 3" paddle tail rigged with a weedless hook. Depending on the grass and water depth I use a 1/8 to a 1/16 oz. Or just free lining a large live shrimp, This is that time of the year I have most my success using a live jumbo shrimp! We might as well take advantage of using those big guys while they are here. This cooler weather pushes in all the jumbo and select shrimp, which make for great bait! Drumming, there’s nothing like the sound of a passing school of Black Drum! January and February are the best months to find those big Black Drum, especially if you have access to those super skinny water spots and "no motor zones".

Photo: Tucker Harris

It’s a beautiful sight seeing these beauties tailing across the grassy flats, which is one of the many reasons why I love my kayak! But, typically in the colder months, Drum of all sizes frequent deeper waters and channels. They are bottom feeders, so drop a heavy 5/6 oz weight with a blue crab or shrimp. Remember they normally mouth their food before taking it, so if you get that nibble don’t get excited and start reeling. Let him eat and hook! Using shrimp and fresh blue crabs are a preferred bait of choice when targeting Black Drum, but if presented properly, they will hit an artificial. You may find more success on hits and landing fish by the proper use of your artificial and color choice. If the water is more clear and cleaner, a white to natural color with flash. If the water is dark and dirty, I suggest to go for a natural darker pattern. With cool fronts coming in and temps not being as warm the water clarity is looking much better in the lagoon. Depending on where you are targeting fish and due to wind you will find it hard to sight-cast in certain areas. With a lot of time and days scouting the lagoon these last couple months searching for grass, between the wind, fall weather, cooler temperatures and random cold fronts, just scouting around staying on top of the Red fish and looking for grassy flats, I have found myself discouraged in mucky, dirty water with no grass and red fish scattered here and there. With the help of North winds pushing water out of the Lagoon, it makes way for cooler and gin clear water clarity! It’s a new year and many great things to come, so get out there and make this year an epic one! 37

@orionsurfboards TALK STORY

One attribute that stands out the most about Greg Geiselman is humility. Geiselman always has that classic GG smirk on his face, and it's for good reason. He has a great family, flourishing business, is an outstanding athlete, always catching the best wave and the most fish. With all this going on, he is still the most humble person ever. Greg has always been more about showing with actions instead of talking about it. At the present time he has so much to be proud of. His two boys, Eric and Evan, are superstars taking the world by storm. He couldn't have done a better job raising those guys either, and they are a close knit family that enjoys spending time together. Well before the boys rise to stardom, Greg was the guy! Charging huge waves in exotic locations, with a madman mentality that you would never expect. For anyone who knows Greg, it's pretty obvious that he is the man and couldn't be a better person. Always impressive and never bragging about it. He has more fun cracking jokes and keeping all the crew on our toes. Lets hear more from GG and what makes him tick! Intro: Bryan Forand

TALK STORY: GREG GEISELMAN

What motto do you live by, if any? Keep it simple How long have you been surfing for? 38 years What was the highlight of your professional surfing career? Probably winning the Platts Pro in New Smyrna How did you get into building surfboards? Jimmy Lane asked if i wanted to be his airbrush apprentice. When I got to the factory CB ( Charley Baldwin ) put me in a shaping room. I ended up planing down blanks for him. Your boys Eric and Evan have done really well for themselves as professional surfers. Can you see either of them following your footsteps in the shaping bay? I can possibly see Eric coming in and shaping one day. Evan, I am not to sure about. I think if he had to pick, he would rather run the company, lol. What was it like in the 80's being a surfer in our area? Our Inlet broke a lot better back then. The sand bars didn’t change as much as they do now. Who were the top guys at the inlet back in those days? There were quite a few. Terry Presely, Charlie Baldwin, Jimmy Lane, Ross Pell, Clay Lyles, Mike Luke, Jimmy Johnston, Jim Guzzman, Isabel Mclauglin ( womens pro) and Randy Richenburg. Those were the local guys. There were others that were surfed really good from Orlando and Daytona. It was a tough lineup. Like being in a contest every day. If you can go back 30 years, what advice would you give yourself? Finish College. No, I really can’t complain. Thru surfing and shaping I have gotten to travel the world with my boys, make many friends and surf amazing waves. What is the biggest difference now and when you first came to the New Smyrna Beach area? I think the growth. When I first moved here it was a sleepy town with a few restaurants to choose from. Now there are more people coming into New Smyrna and everything is building up.

"GG is an absolute world class shaper/craftsman and dad, not to mention a true NSB OG cowboy. Ever since my brother and I were born, he's always strives for perfection in his surfing and shaping. There aren't too many shapers out there that can surf that well to start. He's always been very driven and so many people respect him in the surfing and shaping industry. I would put him up there with the best shapers in the world! From hand planing to computer design, he's a true craftsman. Both him and my mom made it together from grass roots and we wouldn't be where we are today if it weren't for both of them. Pops is the man! - Eric Geiselman

"Pops is a legend! He paved the way for surfing along with the other OG's from New Smyrna Beach. He is a great dad and I owe a lot of my success to him. He makes the best boards on the East Coast and is probably one of the best surfer/shaper in the work. He still has the best hack in our family, haha, and only one who knows how to use the rail!" - Evan Geiselman

What is our youth lacking? I think back when we were younger there were a lot us that did nothing but surfed and contests were the cool thing to do back then. Todays youth has many more things to do other than surf, so they do it for fun vs being competitive. What is the best traveling experience in your life? The early 90's driving to Mexico, no crowds and more waves than you could want.

Thanks for your time. Any last shout outs or thank you’s? Shout out to my boys! I am proud of them and thank you to all that have helped me along my Surfing/Shaping road. 39
