More than any other season, it's the indicator that it's time to get off your couch. A direct message that is telling you to get out of the house, find new lands, fresh air, and new waves. Spring is the driving force that propels you forward, takes control and puts your life into drive, ignites your soul and sparks an internal combustion between curiosity and hunger. Welcome to our 2019 Spring Edition of Fluid Magazine. Who doesn't love spring? Living in Central Florida during Spring time means you pretty much have won the lottery of life. The time changes and we can finally enjoy all that this land has to offer. Boats, beaches, beers and babes, life is pretty glorious in Florida come spring time. If

you don't get out and explore, you’re pretty much failing to cash that winning lottery ticket in. For all of us nine to fivers, we are especially grateful that short, cold winter days are behind us. For me, Spring signals that it is time to start planning out some vacation time in my schedule. For everyone who knows me, they know I am an absolute travel hound. You don't always have to jump on a plane to have a good time. Central Florida has so much to offer right at your fingertips. You can always find a reason not to do a trip; work, school, romance, finances. The key is to find a compelling reason to do it and allow all other factors to fit in around that. Florida is prime for day trips or for a weekend getaway. Take the definitions literally and jump into action this spring. It's time to take advantage and make this spring a memorable one. If you were a skittle, what color would you be and why? Green, because it’s my favorite color. Also, it’s lime flavored and limes are delicious! Especially on tacos, and in an ice cold Corona. When you listen to music, do you pay attention to lyrics or the melodies and beats? Both, even the new rap songs. Skrrt! What do you enjoy the most about modeling? Being able to meet amazing content creators, and I love doing adventure photos where I get to travel and explore awesome destinations that humans have not destroyed yet. I can be very sarcastic. If you had to live in another state besides Florida, which state would you choose and why? California, because I hate the cold and I can’t live without the beach near me. Best Beach in Florida? Probably Key Biscayne. Mostly because of all the palm trees. Palm trees make me happy! Favorite celebrity? I don’t really have one. I guess at the moment it’s that massive great white shark in Hawaii that everyone keeps photographing. She’s awesome! I’d love to meet her. Who’s the hottest- Surfers, Skaters, Wakeboarder, Musicians or Artist? I can’t choose between the board sports. Doesn’t matter if it’s on a wave, sand, snow, being pulled by a boat or on wheels. FISHING REPORT INSHORE ADVENTURES WITH SKYE

Spring has sprung and we are starting to feel those warmer temperatures. I spent this past February in Mosquito Lagoon playing with tailing reds in solo swimmers. As far as the water clarity goes, I must say it is looking great! We should start to see more improvement in the water quality. During the months of March and April fishing can be a bit challenging, with using the breaks in the weather to your advantage you should score some nice action! Lets Talk Bait As you all know I am all about my artificial, but being prepared when hitting the water is important. You never know what the fish are biting on that day. I always have live and artificial baits. Live bait can be a little scarce in March and April, so I find myself typically using artificials more so than often. This month you can find me in the grassy flats tossing a D.O.A paddle tail and jerk baits rigged weedless. Black Drum It sure is something seeing those big uglies pushing across the shallows. I'm finding them in schools throughout the south end of the lagoon to the railroad trestles in Indian River Lagoon. Dropping chunks of blue carbon those deep waters and shadow lines of haulover canal, you are certain to hook up to a slob drum! You will also find drum in the shallows of the grassy flats during high tide and hissing out in the sand holes during the low tides. Redfish This month may be a little thin when targeting Redfish as you will find them moving around more. During those cooler and windy days you will find them up against the leeward banks basking in the sun. I suggest looking for those large grassy flats where you are sure to find some Reds roaming around waiting for you. Sheepshead Such a fun and simple species to target. Sheepshead is one species that's typically overlooked in the lagoon. With the water

clarity they are easily spooked due to them seeing you before you see them on the run, those convicts! You want to target them along oyster bars with deep dropoffs, pilings along the channel and docks are the main places to target this species. I mainly use live fiddler crabs and live shrimp. To increase your bite action, peel back your shrimp before baiting. Trout March and April are great months for catching Trout. I drift the grassy weedlines and mangroves edges in the morning lower light tossing a top-water. However, in the day I switch to soft plastics, hitting those sandy pot holes with a live shrimp and a popping cork. Trout cannot resist it. Remember fishing can be a little more challenging this month with the warmer temperatures. So step out of your comfort zone and try new tactics, lures and approaches to help you grow and become a better angler. I urge you to study the waters you fish. Study your tide charts, learn your moon phases and when the fish are feeding, fish new areas to expand and grow to be the best angler you can be. If you're an early bird a too water makes for a fun bite. Poppin corks, Bomber Lures, Bodonk a donk, D.O.A Shrimp and paddle tails, gold spoons, those are just some of my favorites to target these species. You never know unless you try, so get out there and fish!

For mamas or mamas to be, Holly has created a motherhood community where you can prepare for motherhood with prenatal yoga or teach your kids the benefits of mindfulness through her many children classes. We sat down with Holly to hear more about Saltwater Yoga.

becoming a yoga instructor? Mom life started this journey. I feel like that is the type of life changing catalyst that begins many journeys. I started doing a prenatal yoga class at 8 weeks pregnant, and am super thankful I did. After my daughter was born, I found baby yoga. From there, I found toddler yoga. My yoga grew with my daughter. My passion for yoga was fired up, and I took my prenatal yoga training from my instructor who taught my prenatal yoga classes. I began my yoga teaching journey with kids, training through Kidding Around Yoga in Los Angeles, California. From there, I did a wild 200-hour teacher training here in NSB under the amazing Jackie Anderson of Kula Yoga. I then followed up with chair, prenatal and barre training. You’d think I would want to stop there, but the training just continued. I am now trained in Infant Massage and I am a certified lactation counselor. This helps me connect and help even more with all the new moms in my yoga classes.

Do you prefer coffee or tea? Coffee all day, every day. I’ll drink a little brew from home or get fancy and go out for our local favorite, Island Roasters.

What has been the most significant benefit that yoga and living a yogi lifestyle has given you? Hands down, I have become less anxious. I have also learned to be more present in the here and now. I am able to breathe easy to stay in the present moment. Yoga keeps me from developing anxiety about the future or worrying too much about the past.

Early bird or night owl? I don’t quite fit in with either type of fowl. Mid-day is my jam with a little nap squeezed in somewhere. What makes your studio different than the other studios in town? Saltwater Yoga studio is mom powered and mom focused. We are the only local studio with prenatal, baby, toddler, kids, and chair yoga. We still have yin, gentle, and hatha yoga for people in every season of life, but we believe we cater more to the moms and families who want to get their yoga practice on. How was your first yoga class? Did you fall in love instantly or did it take some time? My first yoga class was in a gym group classroom in 2006. It was not the most beautiful or tranquil setting for a first yoga class. It was still yoga at the core and completely changed my anxiety riddled life. That yoga class gave me a sense of peace and calming, one hour at a time. I eventually added yoga into my home practice as well, but that first rough gym class was the start. What life events started you on your path to 30

How do you make a new and anxious student feel comfortable in coming to one of your classes? I tell them to release anxiety, just picture me naked. Just kidding! I let all my students know that I value them, I see them, and I appreciate them. We all feel a little nervous trying something new, but this is a safe and welcoming space where you can leave your worries behind, and feel stronger and more confident when you leave. Do you have a recommendation as to how often someone should practice yoga? I recommend that if you can do one yoga pose per day, something like a cat-cow or legs up the wall, just connecting with your breath, you’re doing great. Not everyone can devote a full hour to a class each day, so just do what you can and make it to a class when you can. Make yoga work for you. Are you a yoga-only kind of person, or do you practice something else as well?

For the most part, I’m a yoga-only kind of person. After all, I’ve been teaching 26 yoga classes a week since we opened. I do love all forms of exercise, though. I think I’ve tried every place in town and loved each one in a different way. If you weren’t a yoga teacher, what would you be? Hmmmmm………, a barista? Any last words? Inhale...Exhale...Repeat

There is so much to love about Puerto Rico. The island vibe, the people, crystal clear water, great food, culture, the waves, it's pretty much endless! For me, what always stood out was the proximity to Florida and how you can be there at the drop of a dime. Puerto Rico has mix reviews by many and for good reason, but it's really in the eye of the beholder. We will leave it up to you to form your own opinion. Here are some insider tips to make your trip smooth sailing.

Where: Puerto Rico (northwest corner of the island) What: A little slice of heaven that is a short plane ride away. No need for a passport, you’re in US territory, gringo. La isla del encanto, meaning "the island of enchantment" When: October thru March is prime time for the Caribbean. This is when surfers from all over the world (for the most part East Coasters) make their pilgrimage to the juice. Our favorite month is February. There tends to be constant string of low-pressure systems off the Eastern Seaboard, most of which generate some kind of surf for PR — some of it quite large, too. Why: If you are heading to Puerto Rico for a surf adventure then Rincon in the Northwest corner of the island is the place to start. While there are literally waves on all corners of PR, the northwest area of Aguadilla and Rincon are a surfers paradise. With an open window that receives the northeast swells created by cold fronts that move off the Eastern seaboard and a plethora of beach breaks, reefs, and points, the northwest has helped to earn Puerto Rico the moniker of

the “Hawaii of the East.” Over the years there have been many International Surf Contests held in Puerto Rico and they continue to have a successful national competition circuit. Babes And Dudes: It's pretty loaded on both sides of the spectrum. The party scene primarily consists of day drinking on the beach and capitalizing on the happy hour while catching the sunset. If you’re looking to meet someone, PR isn't a bad spot to start. Everyone stays fit and they live in their baggies and swimsuit. Crowd Factor: It can get pretty thick when the swell is on point. Most all surf spots in Puerto Rico have a crew of locals and expat surfers. The only chance you’ll be surfing alone is if you find an out-of-the-way spot or the random windy days when the majority of people aren't ready to paddle 25mph trade winds. Hazards: There is some stuff that can light you up for sure! Sea urchins, sharp, shallow reef, and strong currents are the most common threats. Beyond that, respect the locals and you'll be just fine. They don't take likely to someone coming in hot and trying to take over their surf break.

Tread lightly, throw out a good vibe and you'll be on your way to a great trip. Stuff To Bring: Bring you driver license and your passport as a backup form of identification. Beyond that, you literally can get anything you can back home. Pack light and make a store run as needed. If The Surf Is Flat: For those not looking to brave the waves on offer there are still plenty of things to explore on the beautiful island of Puerto Rico. Boasting three of the planets eight bioluminescent bays you can kayak through a canal of mangroves to reach the Laguna Grande in Fajardo to experience this magical nocturnal illumination. The diversity of coral reefs surrounding the island make for breathtaking snorkeling and diving adventures and a 28,000 acre rain forest at El Yunque ensures that whatever you are searching for you’re certain to find it in Puerto Rico. Add in year round tropical weather and no passport required and you have to put Puerto Rico at the top of the list for perfect holiday vacations.

Indonesia at G-Land surfing with Gerry Lopez & paddling out in Hawaii on the north shore, Himalayas at 30 feet.

What motto do you live by, if any? Treat people like you want to be treated. How long have you been surfing for? 43 years What was it like in the 80's being a surfer in our area? It was adventurous times. Surfing Main Street pier, Ponce Inlet and NSB Inlet. Riding twin fins, then tri fins took over in 1982 when Simon Anderson won the Sunset & Pipe Masters. Who were the top guys at the inlet back in those days? One of the top guys I looked up to & got me stoked on surfing was Kevin Ogden. You got Steve Reeves, John Crouch, Clyde Rodgers, Jimmy Lane & Mike Luke. If you can go back 40 years what advice would you give yourself? Stay true to yourself! METZ LOUNGE SAME FEEL, NEW LOOK past year from new bar stools to keg coolers. We wanted a nice fresh start. The restrooms are brand new from the ground up as well as new floors and walls. It was a real face-lift.

Metz lounge has been a staple in Daytona Beach since 1951. Loyalty is everything when it comes to a spot like Metz. It's all about building the tight relationships with your patrons that can't be imitated or replicated. Metz is truly a niche bar and you couldn't have a more dedicated group of patrons. It has all the main attributes for a perfect locals bar; a welcoming atmosphere, pool tables, dart boards, full bar, and, obviously, the best bartenders in town. We sat down with Manager Joey Metz to hear more about Metz Lounge. Metz has been a favorite to so many locals over the years. Tell us about the history of Metz and how it all started. Metz was established in 1951 by Edward Metz as a local grocery store, package (liquor) store and bar. After a while, as bigger chains moved into town, we decided to focus more on the lounge/package aspect of the business and even had 4 locations around town. Now, we have two locations on A1A and have very recently remodeled both. After Edward passed away his wife, Ann Metz, and her brother, Bob Donohue, took the reins before Peter Metz, the current owner, was brought into the business. There have been many changes to the locations since, but this remodel is the biggest improvement yet! How would you describe the feel of your bar in less than five words? Home away from home. Is there a difference between Metz 1 and Metz 2? Yes, Metz 1 is a bigger bar that has more dart machines and pool tables with leagues for both that meet up certain nights of the week. Metz 2 is a bit of a smaller bar, but also still has a package store attached to it, perfect to stop in and grab a bottle of wine you forgot for that dinner party! Both bars now offer the latest Buzztime games and trivia, as well as the NFL package. How's the response been from the local contingency? The locals love it! Sometimes change can really ruin a place, but we kept enough the same so you still get the local crowds as well as new customers and visitors looking for a neat spot to hang out, shoot darts and play some pool. Do you have any weekly specials or a happy hour? We don't feel we need one with the best drinks and prices in town! What separates Metz from other bars/lounges in the area? People like to equate Metz to a sort of "Cheers" type bar. It won't take long for the bartender to know what you're having as soon as you walk in the door and the locals to know you by name. People are always sharing neat old stories and jokes, it's a fun time and begins to feel like family before too long. Any last words or shout outs?
