Short breaks for disabled children in Powys & Monmouthshire A short break support service is frequently requested by parents of disabled children and compliments the care given by those parents. Short break carers are couples or individuals who offer regular, planned overnight stays in their own homes, usually about one weekend a month.

involved in creating colourful art and craft projects.

Disabled children and young people get to make new friends, develop a little more independence and enjoy different activities. Parents can have a break to recharge their energy and feel secure that their children are in safe hands.

We plan carefully what we are going to do for the weekend and always involve our short breaks child in any decisions made. We are pretty tired by the end of the weekend, but most of all we have fun. We have thoroughly enjoyed getting to know our short break child’s parents and being involved in short break caring has added a positive extra dimension to our lives.

Short breaks are for children like eleven-year-old Ryan, a lively youngster who loves football and cycling. Ryan has ADHD resulting in a very high energy level, difficulty in relaxing and needs to be busy. He would like to spend time with a family who can keep up with him and understand his enthusiasm in his frequently changing interests and activities. Short breaks are for young people like Hannah, a shy thirteen-year-old, with a learning disability who would like more opportunities to spend time with other young people of her own age. She is equally happy in the company of younger children and loves to get

One of our short break carers says, “It is such a very rewarding role. We do everyday activities at home, go out to the shops or walk in the park and the hills nearby.

Also we really appreciate how well we are supported by our social worker who probably knows us better than ourselves!” Short break carers come from a wide variety of backgrounds. Specific experience is not necessarily needed as social workers and specialists will provide training and support. For more information about short break caring contact Action for Children on 01633 270422.

Gazette & Diary Magazine:

Buds & Bows Karen Reed works today in a profession that she said chose her and is now a prominent market trader in Abergavenny who runs her Buds & Bows flower stall every market day. Karen recalled as a child that she would dissect flowers in the garden much to her mother’s disgust and added: “I just wanted to know everything about plants from how they are made to what makes them grow. But it wasn’t all destruction as I recall gathering primroses together in bunch and tying a ribbon around them. “Throughout my childhood I improved my technique and when it came time for me to undertake work experience while I was at school, I naturally chose to work in a florist. “I think I must have made an impression as this led me to getting a a job with them after leaving school.” Karen stayed at the florist for a couple of years and attended a day release course at Coleg Gwent in Usk and after three years of studying she achieved her City& Guilds qualification. Karen said: “By now I was itching to go it alone and so took advantage of the Prince’s Youth Business Trust grant and the Enterprise Allowance Scheme for

business start ups to enable me to open a shop in Nevill Street in Abergavenny. “And one day I walked into the town’s market hall and I was instantly taken in my the atmosphere. It was so busy and the feeling among shoppers was great that I asked if I could have my own stall in the market. A short while later I was granted my request and moved from the shop to the market.” But as Karen had never worked in a market she was in for a shock in the differences and expectations of running a shop to that of being a market stall holder. “This was a transition I wasn’t expecting and instantly found that working in a market stall was so different to what I had been used to. I had to quickly rethink the way I did things, from the way the stall is set up, to the range of flowers that I have on sale.” Karen initially worked on the traditional market days of Tuesdays along with Friday and Saturday and now she works whenever the market is open. “I arrived 15 years ago, and I am still here,” Karen added. “I’ve moved around a little bit within the market, but I’ve always remained in the same area. Over time I have learnt the ways of the market and adhering to its rules and regulations.

“In Abergavenny especially I found that it’s like working in an original supermarket. We make a big team and together there is just about everything here that you need on a daily basis. “We have a varied amount of trades in the market in Abergavenny complementing each other and it seems we are the vital ingredients that make up a good market.” Karen added: “The market traders have effectively become an extension of my family and as long as a market remains in Abergavenny, I shall be here.” Ten years ago Karen was offered the opportunity to have a fixed unit in the market hall and she immediately jumped at the chance. “Times are getting harder,” added Karen. “I am glad that I’ve already built up a reputation as I do get customers repeatedly coming back to my stall and this has help sustain me through this recession.” Abergavenny market traders have faced numerous problems in recent years including the Market Hall’s refurbishment and the development of the Brewery Yard. “But all through that I‘ve never known such hard working and dedicated traders who turn up week in, week out regardless of the conditions thrown at them,” concluded Karen.

Method (Makes approx 4 x 450g (1lb) jars) 1. Peel, core and chop the apples into small chunks and place the fruit in a large preserving pan (or a very large saucepan). 2. Add the blackcurrants and cassis along with 2 tablespoons of water and cook over a low heat for 10-15 minutes until the apple and blackcurrants have reduced to a soft pulp – add a little more water if the fruit sticks to the base of the pan. 3. Add the sugar and stir over a low heat until it is completely dissolved. Raise the heat and bring to the boil. 4. Cook the jam at a rapid boil, stirring occasionally to prevent the jam burning on the bottom of the pan. 5. The jam should take 5-7 minutes to reach setting point – to test when it is ready spoon

a small amount of jam on to a cold saucer. 6. Leave for one minute and then, using the tip of your finger, push the jam and if it wrinkles then setting point has been reached. If it isn't quite ready, continue to boil the jam and test 2 minutes later. 7. Towards the end of the cooking time, sterilise the jars. Preheat the oven to 120C, fan 110, gas 1⁄2. Wash and dry the jars, place them on a baking tray and heat in the oven for 10 minutes. 8. Pour the jam into the hot jars, add a waxed disc to each one and seal with a lid. 9. When the jam is cold, it is ready to eat! Time From Cupboard-To-Table: 45 minutes (not including cooling time)

European Bat Weekend Vampires in the night? How old hat! Let's change the way we see bats! European Bat Weekend - 27-28 August 2011 European Bat weekend - Bats live in a forest near where I live and I'll sometimes see them flapping past the window. It's pretty cool! EUROBATS is back to organise the fifteenth European Bat Night as darkness falls between the 27th and 28th of August 2011.

Over 30 countries celebrate bats on European Bat Weekend - from Belgium and Sweden to the UK! In Worcestershire, you'll be taken a walk in the dark to learn about our 'enigmatic' friends. Why don't you organise your own European Bat Weekend event? To receive posters to promote the event, email EUROBATS at: eurobats@eurobats.org. It's well know that bats can be seen as a bit scary! This probably comes from the fact a lot of vampire movies have made bats out to be blood-sucking and terrifying! And while it's true that they do drink insects' blood they don't come near ours! Yet the scare stories are endangering our flying friends. If bats were to become extinct we'd be in big trouble - there would be insects everywhere!

Although bats have been used for good symbolism too. Take Batman for instance! The superhero that protects the city of Gotham in movies like The Dark Knight. But how much do you know about real bats? Did you know that they pollinate lots of plants? Like bees, bats are essential pollinators for the growth of our natural world. In fact there are nectar-feeding bats! They help disperse seeds - and are really good for the economy too!

The bat conservation international organisation knows just how important it is to help our bats. And recognise how special they are too! Did you know that some males sing when trying to attract a female? Or that vampire bats adopt orphans? Unusual for any animal, never mind a supposedly scary bat! To see how much you really know about bats, take the BBC quiz. My score was 'Battastic' with 4 out of 6 correct answers. See if you can beat me!

There are 10 Special Areas of Conservation where bats are either a primary or secondary feature of the SAC and details of the SACs can be found on the JNCC web site. Read more about Welsh bat fauna as it is currently understood.

Wales Bat Project

I had heard of a few bat species, for example, the Common pipistrelle, Daubenton's bat and the Greater horseshoe bat, but I didn't realise that in the UK we have 18 species of bats - wow! There's lots of information about bat species in the UK at the Bat Conservation Trust website, and what's more you can even listen to them as well! If you are planning a bat event why not post the details on the events page so that everyone knows what you are doing.

Thanks to the support of the Countryside Council for Wales, Environment Wales and the Heritage Lottery Fund, BCT is able to run the Wales Bat Project. through which, we work alongside 17 volunteer Bat Groups in Wales to: ● ●

actively promote greater awareness of bats in Wales seek new ways to enable more people in Wales to appreciate and enjoy bats, and get involved in bat conservation; help develop the bat volunteer network, by capacity building and facilitating information sharing train bat volunteers to take part in bat conservation projects in Wales identify and co-coordinate priority projects that focus on local bat conservation work in Wales.

What's more this year the Bat Conservation Trust is celebrating as it is it's 20th anniversary and the celebrations don't end there because 2011 is also the United Nations Year of the Bat.

Bats in Wales The rich Welsh landscape provides a diverse range of habitats for 15 of our British bats; the mouse-eared and grey long-eared bats being as far as we know, absent from our fauna.

In addition, we run independent projects such as Landscape for Lessers, the Bechstein's Project and Tir Gofal Agrienvironment Scheme Monitoring Project which are of particular relevance to Wales.

them as best as you know you can. If you've got any breastfeeding questions or queries, go to the World Alliance for Breastfeeding Action website for more information. Good luck!

Breastfeeding is essential for your baby. Why? It provides a child with all the anitbodies and nutrients she or he needs to stop from getting ill in the future. But won't a formula do the same thing? No. Tests have shown that babies fed with formula have had lower scores on brain development and a greater risk of getting diseases like childhood lymphoma, or breast cancer in their later years. Stopping breastfeeding too early will also increase these risks.

Why breastfeed?

So what can you do to help this August? This year's theme "Talk to me! Breastfeeding - a 3D Experience" is aimed at promoting not only breastfeeding support but also communication.

It’s never too early to start thinking about how you're going to feed your baby. Today, most women in England are choosing to breastfeed. ■ Breast milk is the only natural food designed for your baby. ■ Breastfeeding protects your baby from infections and

Interior design Interior design is a discipline that looks after designing all of the interiors of a space. This can include things like flooring, windows, doors, walls, lighting, furniture, and other design pieces. The goal of interior design is generally to make a space that is both comfortable and pleasing, often catered specifically to the needs and likes of the person hiring the interior designer. Interior design is actually a relatively old discipline, although historically it was reserved primarily for

royalty and the aristocracy. In the modern world, many people make use of interior design, either doing it themselves with the assistance of classes or books, or by hiring an interior designer to assist them in bringing their vision to life.

Is your sash window sliding?

The work of a designer can range from laying out small dwellings, to designing massive corporate buildings such as the design of an international hotel chain. The best practitioners of interior design use a wide range of different skills in their work. They must also have a grasp of many fields that are important to their work, including things like how floor plans work, and what local building codes might limit their design decisions. Although many interior designers work on a contract basis, a number are actually kept on as full-time staff. Independent designers generally take on smaller clients, and help them with a specific project or set of projects, building a quote, working with the client to determine what would best to suit them, and then working with builders or suppliers to realize that vision. Larger corporations, on the other hand, may find it cost-effective to simply keep an interior designer or team of designers on staff.

Amanda lives in south-west London with her fiance Sean McGuinness and their twoyear-old daughter, Willow Rose.

from lots of people! When we bought our house, it was on the market and the house two doors down was on the market at the same time, both of which were identical inside, but ours was really tired and dated, and the neighbours' was beautiful. We bought our one because it was much cheaper and stole lots of her ideas. A love of interiors is a big thing for me so I do tend to buy lots of magazines and watch a lot of the home programmes.

TELL US ABOUT YOUR NEW SERIES, WHAT THE NEIGHBOURS DID

WHICH CELEBRITY'S HOME WOULD YOU LIKE TO LOOK AROUND?

It's about having a good nose around your neighbours' houses to get ideas before you start embarking on huge projects yourself. You can walk down any street in the UK featuring a row of Victorian terraces or Edwardian houses and all of them have been built to exactly the same blueprints. What we all do to them inside is completely different, and so we take someone who maybe wants to do a kitchen extension, loft extension or basement conversion or something like that, and before they bring in the builders we take them to see three or four of their neighbours' houses.

Simon Cowell's new one. I film a lot on The Wright Stuff and his house is quite near the studio, so we drive past it an awful lot and it's just been finished. They seem to have been doing it up for the last 40 years, but he's got some rather strange lace curtains up against some of the windows. He obviously has someone who's into interior design involved. I'd also like to have a look around William and Kate's pad. I'd like to see if it's 'stuffy old Royals' or if it's all new and modern.

SOUNDS LIKE THE SHOW IS RIGHT UP YOUR STREET

Obviously A Place In The Sun, because it was the thing that launched me and where I met my future husband (Sean McGuinness). Also Market Kitchen because I worked with such a great team of people and got to eat amazing food with amazing chefs. I'm in the middle of filming one called My Flat-Pack Home at the moment. I've loved doing that and What The Neighbours Did because they're different. No one's done a whole series on kit homes yet, and nobody's done a series looking at kit homes, so I think the beauty of the property shows I do for Home is they're quite innovative and forward-thinking.

Model-turned-presenter Amanda Lamb, 38, has worked on TV shows including A Place In The Sun and Market Kitchen. Her latest series, What The Neighbours Did, is new and exclusive to Home and can be seen week nights at 10pm from July 18.

I jumped at the chance because I don't think anyone else has done anything like this. It's not a programme that I think we've seen before. It's a fantastic show. It looks really glossy, and with so many of the houses in it you just think, 'I want to live there'. ARE YOU EVER SHORT ON INSPIRATION FOR DECORATING YOUR OWN HOME? No, because I'm very good at stealing ideas

WHICH OF YOUR SHOWS IS CLOSEST TO YOUR HEART AND WHY?

WILL WE SEE MORE A PLACE IN THE SUN ONE DAY?

learned so much from that first series, and it was such a success that we've got 40 more shows that we're in the middle of filming.

It's really up to the powers-that-be at Channel 4 whether they want any more. There's a market out there for buying property abroad and I would dearly love to do some more. FINALLY, WHAT'S BEEN YOUR MOST CHALLENGING JOB SO FAR? The first series of My Flat-Pack Home, because we started filming that in the winter, and it was the worst winter that I can remember. There was lots of time spent in muddy, snow-filled building sites, and all the builds were late or behind because of the bad weather. I think we just managed to deliver that by the skin of our teeth. That was the most challenging, but the beauty of that is we

First Drive: Range Rover Sport The new Range Rover Sport has been revised for 2011 and it's had more than a facelift because there are some significant changes beneath the skin with a modified, more powerful, more efficient turbodiesel engine. There are two improved engines on offer including a 3.0litre TDV6 diesel and a range-topping 5.0-litre Supercharged V8 which generates 503bhp and can make 0-62mph in five seconds. When a car is labelled 'Sport' it's no longer the case that's it's all about performance and the new engines not only boast substantial increases in power and torque but also lower emissions and reduced fuel consumption.

Changes to the chassis include Active Damping and a full Brembo brake system that does a great job of bringing the burly Range Rover to a quick stop. Taking all that was good about the mighty Range Rover and, through the work of the designers, presenting a slightly more youthful appearance, it sought to tempt buyers away from rival offerings that were perceived to be more contemporary in looks and image.

The Esplanade, Tenby, Pembrokeshire SA70 7DU Tel: 01834 842377 Fax: 01834 842626

And highlighting the youthful angle is appropriate considering Land Rover has updated its junior Range Rover. It's also appropriate that the car's visual appearance has changed slightly. Call it a nip and tuck if you like, the Sport's nose has been softened. Gone is the stark radiator grille, in its place a more cohesive nose and bumper arrangement. The Front and rear lights are now LED - with a smoked-effect finish at the back and subtle daytime running lights.

Come and enjoy the hotels superb seafront position overlooking Tenby’s beautiful south beach in a friendly and comfortable atmosphere.

These details all amount to a sleeker, less fussy and more sophisticated 'look', and one that does much to help promote Land Rover's desire to be viewed as a smart, fashionable brand.

The changes continue inside, with the focus very much on improving the car's premium ambience. Gone is the dark plastic centre console, in its place a soft touch, colour coordinated central fascia. There's upgraded leather on the seats, soft-touch textiles and the array of electronic equipment including the adoption of a TFT colour screen. Other new toys include five cameras to assist with parking which provide a 360-degree view of the car

when reversing. There's also a system that detects oncoming cars and dips the headlights for you. There's a clever multimedia system with screens for back seat passengers and there are heated and cooled seats all round. Indeed, the Sport's cabin is now on a par with that of a conventional executive saloon. It's certainly spacious enough, while the Sport's trump card lofty driving position - will likely be a deal-clincher for some. Of course, one pretty important reason to get the Sport over any conventional saloon is the car's allweather and all-terrain ability. For some the latter will rarely be exploited, yet the underlying ability is nothing short of breath-taking. It's helped in no small way by the Sport's engine line-up. Predictably diesel dominates here, and while the beefy Supercharged petrol V8 is now faster and more powerful (and cleaner, too) it's the new TDV6 motor that's destined to grab all the headlines.

Of course all this power makes off-roading a breeze. The smooth auto gearbox makes life inching over obstacles easy enough for novices to feel confident, while the various electronic aids help take your mind of the complicated stuff and allows you to concentrate on the muddy track ahead. Land Rover's now familiar Terrain Response system really does make off-roading a doddle. Simply dial up the terrain - mud, snow, sand etc - and transmission, differential and suspension settings are taken care of and adjusted when necessary. It's no wonder the car is popular when off-roading is made this civilised.

Punchy when it comes to overtaking and powering out of corners yet quiet on the motorway, this new TDV6 puts the 'lesser' diesel Sport back on the map.

And that's certainly a good way to sum up the Range Rover Sport: civilised. With the premium ambience ratcheted up a few more notches and the car's already peerless off-roading given a further polish, you don't need to look anywhere else as nothing comes close.

I have used an instrument called an Inter X machine in my clinic for many years. It is a useful tool for many ailments but I have found it invaluable for hay fever. In most cases the client is either symptom free or the symptoms are much relieved after the first treatment. The treatment consists of a 3 day course, if necessary followed by 2 to 3 more treatments at weekly intervals. I have treated many, many people this way over the years and find that usually people will be symptom free for several years after treatment.

The Inter X is a hand held device about the size of a television remote control. For a hay fever treatment, unless it is raining I work outside in the garden, this makes it easier to notice any genuine progress and also the machine works best when there are acute symptoms, hence I also ask the client to take no other remedies on that day.

Your new guide to the finer things in life

The Lost Boy By Kate Whiting Of the trio of young actors who've steered the multi-billion pound Harry Potter ship over the past 10 years, Rupert Grint seems to have emerged the least scathed by the avalanche of attention. Daniel Radcliffe recently admitted he'd crumbled under the pressures of fame and become dependent on alcohol, while Emma Watson admits she fights hard to maintain her autonomy in the face of an A-list lifestyle. Perhaps this is why, while Radcliffe is currently singing and dancing up a storm on Broadway in How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying and Watson (whose shorn locks show she's happily rid of Hermione Granger) is plotting to continue her education at Oxford this autumn, Grint appears less eager to move on. Taking a breath, he admits he's devastated the whole experience has come to an end. "It's just been a really weird year since we finished. I've felt quite empty," says the 22year-old redhead from Hertfordshire, who today sports long sideburns and a smattering of facial hair denied him in his Ron Weasley years. "Initially I was looking forward to freedom, because these films have taken a big chunk of our lives. It's revolved around them every year for a decade. "But I've felt a little bit lost without it, not really knowing what to do with myself. "Just being on set, and that camaraderie we established over 10 years, it was like a family and suddenly I don't have that anymore. It's a big adjustment. I underestimated that, but I think it will get easier with time." Unlike his peers, Grint had never acted professionally before he sent the Potter producers a rap of reasons he wanted the role. "One day I was just a Harry Potter fan and the next, I was in the films, which I could never have imagined," he says, looking every inch an indie kid with his hair combed forward, and dressed in a striped sailor jumper underneath a denim shirt. "I've never regretted it and it's always been an easy decision to come back every year. We always had the choice not to carry on, but we wanted to be there." Diplomatically addressing the news of Radcliffe's reliance on alcohol, he admits while there have been "restrictions" and pressures that come from the responsibility of bringing the books to life, he says the positives far outweighed any negatives. Modest to the extreme, he even admits his own £24 million fortune seems "a lot for what we do" and that he has a "weird relationship" with the money, because "I've never actually seen it". As Ron, Grint was always the funny man to Radcliffe's straight guy, but in real life, he's thoughtful and chooses his words with care. Besides, there's nothing funny about Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows - Part 2. It's darker than many of the others in the eightfilm franchise and sees Hogwarts school become a battleground, as Harry and his friends enter a bloody showdown with evil Lord

Extra time - What's next for the big three?

Voldemort and his Death Eaters. One of the lighter moments comes when Ron and Hermione finally kiss after years of mounting tension. "That was a tricky one, because this scene has been built up for quite a long time and it had to look believable - like we wanted to kiss each other, which I struggled with," he says. "Most guys would probably kill to be in my position, but I view Emma in a completely different way. I've known her since she was nine and we've watched each other grow up. "It really is like kissing a relative, which is a bit creepy." The other surreal moment came when he was aged 19 - and given a beer gut. "That's a re-shoot, the first attempt was pretty terrifying - I looked like Donald Trump. Looking at yourself in the mirror as they gradually put more make-up on, and you slowly deteriorate, was really freaky."

Perhaps to prove this, Grint's chosen a small budget World War Two drama as his first postPotter film. Comrade, based on the true story of German and English bomber pilots forced to shelter together in a harsh Norwegian winter, was filmed in April and the actor plays a Liverpudlian RAF gunner.

Over the years Grint has done other non-Potter work, including last year's comedy thriller Wild Target with Bill Nighy and TV comedy Driving Lessons with Julie Walters. He feels he's earned his acting chops on the Leavesden studio sets.

"It's not so much about the violence of war, as a story of survival and two groups of enemies forming this friendship."

"There was definitely a moment halfway through, where I started taking things more seriously and caring about getting it right.

It was strange being on a different film set for the first time since Potter wrapped up: "We had such a set routine, so it's quite disorientating when you're on a different film - without those familiar faces every day," he says.

"Previously it was a bit of a party. I was away from school, read the lines, stood where they told me to stand and it was fun. It was probably film four where I started to change." Film four, Harry Potter And The Goblet Of Fire, released in 2005, was also one of the best reviewed and the darkest so far. While he may not be able to see much beyond Potter at present ("It all looks a bit blurry", he says of his career), those who've worked with him will attest that Grint's future is bright. Producer David Barron says: "Everyone thinks of Rupert as this great comedic talent, but he's got real acting genes." Matthew Lewis who played Neville Longbottom adds: "He can just look at you and you start laughing. He's so much more than a comedy actor, he's got timing."

"But it's nice to see how different films are made, because [Harry Potter] is quite a unique machine. And it's nice playing a different character when you've played the same guy for 10 years." As for coping with the loss, he's been watching footage from the early films and his first screentest with Radcliffe and Watson: "There's this weird detachment, it feels like a different person." And as Ron, Hermione and Harry all know, friendship is key, so he'll be catching up with the other two when he can.

■ Daniel Radcliffe - The richest star under 30 in Britain, "Dan", as he's known to friends, has become teetotal just as he was legally allowed to drink in America, where he's currently in his second Broadway show, after the acclaimed Equus took him there in 2008. In February, he's in the film version of The Woman In Black. ■ Emma Watson - Now worth an estimated ¬£24 million, the former face of Burberry and current Lancome model did two years at US university Brown, before stopping to focus on her career. She's filmed roles in My Week With Marilyn and The Perks Of Being A Wallflower, and is due to start studying at Oxford in October. ■ Rupert Grint - Keen to continue acting, Grint is due to play British Olympics hero Eddie 'The Eagle' Edwards and is slated to appear in a film based on the Bolton Wanderers enlisting during World War II. His first post-Potter film, Comrade, will be released next year. Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows - Part 2 is released in cinemas on Friday, July 15

if you would like dear duo to help with your problems, please write to Dear Duo, The Gazette and Diary, 13 Nevill Street, Abergavenny, NP7 5AA.

Dear Duo

Help, I’m in desperate need of advice. I’ve lost 3 stone since April, I’m now 5 feet 5 and an revoltingly fat at 7 and a half stone. I am grotesque but I can’t seem to lose any more. Please let me know what I can do. Jayne

Since becoming a single parent, I have become increasingly uncomfortable with people touching me, even a hand on my arm is enough to make me feel strange. I am not afraid of people touching me, it just feels completely alien to me now. I didn’t think this was a massive problem, until a friend commented that my daughter (now two and a half) was just like me as she doesn’t like to be touched by people. I hadn’t noticed this, although, now, I can see that my friend was right. I am desperately worried about my daughter as, even though I am uncomfortable with contact, I crave it also. I can’t help feeling that I have done irreparable damage to my daughter. Any advice you can offer would be a massive help. Thank you,

Hi Jayne I think you have gone to far, your body mass index is to low , it is 17.5 which is classed as under weight. If you continue to feel like this I suggest speaking to someone who can advise you on this, try and eat helthy but regularly so your weight does not drop any further. H

Suduko Puzzle 2

Hi Jayne I think something is clearly not right if you belive you look grotesque at 7 and half stone, You definately need to seek some advice as this sound like you may have some form of an eating disorder. I highly recomend that you visit your doctor and discuss this with him, before it gets to serious. J

I have a male friend who is one of my best friends. Everyone used to think we were dating and even suggested it to us, but we decided to stay friends. Sadly,he’s moving to a new country for university and this is our final year together. We have prom coming up and i think it would be great to go with him. However, im scared that he might see it different. I really dont want to ruin the friendship we have. Should i ask him? Or is our friendship more important? Sadie Hi I think you should go for it as he is leaving. I would ask him to go together as your last time together befor he goes. I would then dress up to the nines and see how things develop on the evening. Although when he leaves it will be either 'out of sight out of mind' OR 'absense makes the heart grow fonder. H Hi Sadie Just tell him straight how it is, im sure being your best friend he will know its just a lovely night for two close people, im sure he will think it is a fab idea, go with the flow. J

I think that you need to take your daughter to a doctor as this sound like she is not going to be a very tactile person like you. The doctor may refer you to a specialist if they seem fit, however in the short term i would try different materials against her skin to see if it is other things other than people or just the feel of clothing they wear. I would certainly address this now instead of leaving it until it develops further. H I can understand where you are coming from, I react the same to being touched at times, this is not really a normal reaction to affection. How about trying a hypnotist to see if this helps as children can be like sponges and can pick up our habbits you do not want to continue this way, as it could really cause problems for her when she gets older. Dr Martin Harris (Liam Neeson) travels to Berlin with his beautiful wife Elizabeth (January Jones) to attend a biotech conference at the invitation of Professor Bressler (Sebastian Koch). En route, there is a freak traffic accident and Martin slips into a coma, waking four days later in hospital with fractured memories. Discharging himself from hospital, he races to the hotel and is delighted to find his wife... except Liz doesn't recognise him and another man (Aidan Quinn) with the same name is on her arm. Suitably confused, Martin hunts down taxi driver Gina (Diane Kruger), who was involved in the accident, but as an illegal immigrant, she is reluctant to go to the police. With nowhere else to turn, Martin contacts former Stasi officer Ernst Jurgen (Bruno Ganz). "I need you to help me prove I'm me," begs Martin. Unknown wraps a simple premise in layers of deceit, hoping

to convince us that Oliver Butcher and Stephen Cornwell's script, adapted from Didier Van Cauwelaert's novel Out Of My Head, is a tricky conundrum with a delicious sting in the tail. Viewers will guess the twist well before director Jaume ColletSerra pulls that particular narrative ace from his sleeve but it's of little consequence because he punctuates the intrigue with some wellorchestrated set pieces. Neeson flexes his fiftysomething muscles with gusto and he carries off bewilderment with aplomb but there's scant emotion to his performance. He relies on Kruger and Ganz to elevate the film above standard popcorn fodder. The latter is particularly moving in a woefully underwritten supporting role.
