Chapter 4 | From Mesha to Sephar,
Mount of the East
Genesis 10:26-30 KJV And Joktan begat Almodad, and Sheleph, and Hazarmaveth, and Jerah, And Hadoram, and Uzal, and Diklah, 28 And Obal, and Abimael, and Sheba, And Ophir, and Havilah, and Jobab: all these were the sons of Joktan. And their dwelling was from Mesha, as thou goest unto Sephar a mount of the east.
Ophir is an authentic descendent of Noah, Shem, Arphaxad all the way to his grandfather Eber. There is only one Ophir in Genesis 10 and all of scripture for that matter. We do not have to guess where Ophir nor his brother Sheba originated as at the time of the Tower of Babel, Ophir lived in Mesha and then, he and his brothers migrated to Sephar, the Mount of the East. These are three distinct places we can pinpoint even today. Mesha is their initial homeland and it is an extremely ancient Hebrew word not Persian in origin. It should be in the near vicinity of the land of Shinar where the Tower of Babel was built as the whole earth population lived within that area at that time but would disperse after Babel was destroyed. Mesha cannot be assumed to be on the Red Sea either in Saudi Arabia nor Ethiopia according to the Bible. That is a 3-4 month round trip journey not three years.
