uying a home is a big investment so it’s important to find a home that fits your family’s needs. Whether you are just starting a family or rushing the kids through high school, here are some tips to take with you on your home search.
Room to grow (or shrink) – Families go through many changes. You want a home that can change with you. Look for a home with an adaptable unfinished basement to give you options. Maybe you add bedrooms for more children, or a ‘mother-in-law’ suite. On the other end of the spectrum, if you are close to empty-nesting, give a little more priority to your needs down the road. Maybe you want to look for a lower-maintenance space or a home with fewer bedrooms. Usable space – As you know, kids come with lots of stuff! For young children, having an extra room for play time keeps the main living area tidy. And down the road, this will make a great hang out room for your teenagers. In addition to having plenty of bedrooms, look for lots of closet space for all the kids’ stuff. In the main living area, think about how the space will work for everyone to be together, with a little wiggle room to have friends over. Durability – Raising a family can be an adventure so anything to make your life easier is a plus. Look for materials that are durable and easy to clean. Also think about whether ice will be a problem in a north-facing driveway. Safety is a must for families of all shapes and sizes. When searching for the perfect home, try to picture your family spending time together and making new memories. But make sure you look at the practical side of things too so you’ll have a home with plenty of space, a great location and room to play.

The Group bike giveaway To say thank you to our hard-working staff this year, 40 full-time members who have been here for a year or longer were presented with a cruiser bike in The Group’s colors and branded with our logo. June 24 was designated Staff Appreciation Day. The Realtors honored the staff in each office by bringing food and small gifts. A cake and balloons were delivered to each office as a ‘decoy.’ The special presentation of the bikes was top-secret and all the Realtors were able to keep the secret so it was a huge surprise. The bikes, purchased from our friends at Lee’s Cyclery, were delivered to each office. Everyone gathered in the lobby of the office to honor the staff. At that time each was presented with their shiny new bike. There were smiles all around – the Realtors had as much fun giving the bikes as the staff had receiving them!
