David R. Navarro: Tell us a little bit about yourselves? Your music?

R&V: (Tarius) I’m a father and an entrepreneur. My business ventures are video production, music and airbnb. I am someone who loves life, nature, his kids and his relationship. I consider myself a big kid. I like to call myself a very “cool” nerd lol I enjoy cartoons, super heroes and comic books. I also have a big passion for music. Over the years I’ve been in r&b groups, done various solo projects and many collaborations with other independent artists. I like to call my style “Feel Good “ music. I love music that gets you excited and feeling good.

DN: How long have you guys been in the music industry?

R&V: Both of us have been in the game for decades.

DN: What made you decide to be serious about music?

R&V: I think for both of us it was a passion that started at birth and was even more heavily influenced by the greats like Micheal Jackson, Stevie wonder, Donny Hathaway and even Usher and Chris Brown.

DN: Tell us about “Rhythm & Views”. How did it all get started?

R&V: The Rhythm and Views show promotes class, style, and a voice to the R&B community through music and video. We also strive to honor R&B music legends and promote their musical accomplishments and to also use our platform to create opportunities for up and coming artists within the R&B community. Originally it started off as a way to not only expose our talent, but our close network of friends and business owners.

DN: Which people or books have had the most influence on each of your music careers and why?

R&V: (Tarius) well like many other artists, i was heavily influenced by Micheal Jackson then as a teenager coming up I loved artists like Usher, Donnell Jones and Dru Hill. D Morris has always been influenced by classic soul artist like Donny Hathaway, Stevie wonder, Barry White and the Jackson’s.

DN: What would you say is the #1 key to success in the music industry?

R&V: Hard work, consistency and always being prepared for opportunities.

DN: Can you give us some examples of things you are doing or have done to expand your audience?

R&V: (Tarius)The Rhythm & Views show is the number one way we are trying to expand our audience. I also do collaborations with other artists form time-to-time.

DN: Talk about the biggest failure you’ve had. What did you learn from it?

R&V: I think i can speak for both of us when i say that i don’t think we have had any failures but more life lessons. D Morris has had dealings in the industry and deals that didn’t pan out and I myself have been a part of groups that separated and label deals that didn’t work. Those situations can either make you or break you and both us in our own ways have been too strong to quit. You could say over time we have reinvented ourselves.

DN: What does a typical day in your week look like?

(Tarius) I literally just said “Oh God” reading this question. lol. For me the short answer would be juggling all my business ventures. I am the producer, editor, promoter, talent coordinator and graphics designer for the Rhythm & Views show. That in itself is a monster. lol.

I also help run a local airbnb, i work to get my video business Ram Vision Videos off the ground and sporadically produce my own music on the side.

D Morris works about 6-7 days a week performing at local bars, restaurants and clubs and selling his own line of scented oils all while producing his own music on the side.

What keeps you going when things get tough in the business?

R&V: I think for both of us it’s the love and the passion that keeps us going for sure.

DN: Is there anything else you’d like us to know about you?

R&V: I am the one you bring home to mama and D Morris is the one you run from! lol Seriously though, at the end of the day we are trying to create legacies not only for ourselves, but most importantly for our families.
