Special points of interest: • Pictures do talk and convey so much more then any spoken words and written books can convey. • The Spark For Art focuses on our need to create and make sense of our world. • On the beach highlights this other world

Many Roads to Travel They say variety is the spice of life and in these modern times and the hectic lives we all lead., this is more true than ever. So finding that work life balance is so essential for our wellbeing and development, individually and even as a society too. Working excessive hours, balancing family life, commitments, and dare I say it just looking after yourself. These are major competing priorities that are draining you, what limited time you have, your needs, your health, career progression, academic development and even just pursuing your dreams. All of these can be seem like a distant dream or many roads to travel. Having coping strategies or hobbies and interests really do help and that could be pho-

tography, keeping fit, yoga, swimming, dancing or joining clubs and attending social events. For us at Theimagebanks the images we catch do encapsulate a moment in time that cannot be replicated and this includes the light, shadow, tones and most of all that initial spark of instant inspiration. In this picture the long and winding road seem to typify the nature of our lives. As autumn descends and the great wheel of our seasons turn and head towards the end of another year. The vibrance of the trees, the colours of autumn are truly inspiring. The fading colours of the leaves turning from green, to

tones of red and then brown set on a canvas of evergreens in the distance was absolutely awesome. And as the road slowly meander through the landscape with ramblers and cyclists making full use of it. This sunny day was certainly a jewel in autumn’s seasonal crown.

Do Pictures Talk Before humans could even write or talk, it was wall cave paintings, or drawing in the sand or wet clay that communicated what they saw and conveyed meaning. In the southwestern corner of France, Lascaux within a complex of caves near the

village of Montignac. Over 600 prehistoric images around 20,000 years old and some of the best preserved parietal wall painting can be found. They reflect and tell a story of the earliest inhabitants in the region. These pictures do talk and they tell the us that wild horses, deer, aurochs, tigers,

wolves and boar roamed freely in Western Europe as the ice age ended.

In so many ways we are still doing the same thing today, when on holidays, or at parties. The quick photo snap is then posted to a new cave wall of the worldwide web.

The Need For Holidays These days many people may have two holidays a year or at least one but in recent times due to financial austerity and changing economic fortunes this trend still remains strong. And although with Brexit looming over the horizon and the raise of child poverty and food banks and natural disasters throughout the world, here in Britain and the rest of Europe we are still planning our sunny holidays. So were does this love affair and the deep belief in holidays and travelling to far flung distant shores come from, how did it develop and why has it become a part of our modern way of life. What will happen in the future and why is it so essential to our health, happiness and wellbeing.

As we know in Britain in the last century we used to work six days a week and Sundays was a religious day to attend church and time for reflection with the family, but this was not the case for every family. From the Georgian workhouse to the Victorian slums it was social class, wealth, and poverty did determined your quality time with the family. With the rise of the seaside towns of Blackpool, Brighton, Llandudno, Margate, Southport and even Bootle at one point, these places became popular and attracted the masses from the polluted towns and cities. They became the much loved holiday destinations for entire coal mining, mill town communities and today some are still holiday resorts and have favoured better than others. As time marched on and with increased mobility and cheap air travel and the allure of Spanish sun holidays which were cheaper than the traditional seaside holidays resorts these new destinations became the essential modern holiday in the 1970’s. And even today we more sophisticate in terms of taste, choice and have grown and matured as travel nomads as we seek further destinations such as Thailand, Mexico and even Iceland. Yet there are benefits that do have health and wellbeing aspects and taking those compiling instant photograph's really do catch those fleeting happy times. By seeing different cultures, cities, locations these do broaden our outlook and perspective on the world. So the modern holiday does opens up our inner self to experience to new foods, lifestyles, which many expiates have embraced, commuting between countries or owing a second home. The modern holiday has become an essential integral part of our current lifestyle, with many people having two holidays a year, or owning a second home within Europe, or within the UK. This means that our holidays are multifaced and could range from a visits to the Lakes, Devon, Cornwall, to holidays in France, Spain, or city breaks in London, or Rome. And just like the seaside holiday towns the modern holiday will evolve to meet our future needs.

The Rise Of Veganism The rise of veganism isn’t a recent fashion that has just mushroomed over night. In fact the first vegan society was formed in 1944. I suppose we could all have memories of friends and family in the late 1970’s who turned to vegetarianism and questioned the ethics and cruelty and treatment of animals. Today with the concerns of environmental destruction of habitats and the pollution of eco systems it’s no wonder people are making a choice, a

stand and marching with their feet. The poisoning of our world and the food chain is only now coming to light, with plastics and landfill sites left like festering sores on the surface of planet earth. In Liverpool we have seen a prolific trend towards veganism and many restaurants offering vegetarian and vegan menus to meeting the increasing demands. And this demand isn't driven by a sudden moral conscious for the welfare of animals. The reasons

are more complicated and diverse but at the heart is the practice of abstaining from the use of animal products, dairy products, animals for clothing, and animal testing and promotes a philosophy to live by. With more choice and information and awareness nationally, and more restaurants. The food industry will eventually in time respond to the needs of this increasing community.

The Spark For Art The need for art and self expression is the same now as it was back in prehistoric times. The choice of materials used has changed from stone, marble, wood, metals, canvas, and even the natural landscapes. Yet the creativity and passion and determination has produced works of outstanding beauty and wonder. This has inspired further generations to

recreate their own interpretations and unique pieces of art. From the ancient civilisations of Sumerian, Egypt, Greece, and Rome. What we see is art that reflects the natural world and afterlife as they perceived it to be. Today, we teach and encourage art and the appreciation of all arts within our society and within schools. In fact the buying and selling of

art is still an valuable commodity as it was in the times of ancient Rome.. The need for art fills an essential basic need to tell a story. How we define, craft, shape and manipulate ours resources is the art spark. This creative genius does lie within all of us as we are born to create.

Life Without Balance As the title suggests life without balance can lead to chaos, conflict, resentment, strife, miscommunication and all of these tend to be negative in nature. So what do we mean by balance and why is it so important to us in our lives and how can it impact on those who share our everyday

world? I suppose the best place to start is to provide you with a definition, which says that balance is " A situation in which different elements are equal or in the correct proportions, Oxford Dictionary". For me balance is about ensuring that no single aspect or situation dominates,

whatever it’s positive or even negative that will drain or overwhelm us. The body and mind does need nurturing and is a finely tuned engine. And without balance life and work can spiral out of control leading us down the garden path which is negative and bad for our wellbeing.

On The Beach Although Autumn is here and the days are getting shorter the beach is still a place to visit. On this particular day the skies were cloudy but bright and still fairly warm for this time of the year. Families gathered and walked in the open spaces and dogs ran barking with pure joy. The sea reflected the luminosity of the sun’s rays and highlighted the clouds that hung like cotton wool in the sky.

The warmth of the sun felt good and the need to record the moment produced these two photos. The beach is the portal that connects two other worlds together. The ageless domain of the changing sea and the illusions of permeance of the land. So it’s no wonder that on the beach families, people and pets can relax, and enjoy this special place.

Sounds of people talking and laughing filled the air as sea And from a photography birds flew by from sandbank to perspective the beach is just sandbank searching for food. like a magnet attracting and giving off positive health and vibes to everyone.
