We created this portfolio with outdoor activities and lifestyles at the forefront of our minds. As we discussed both the trends and the products that manifest them, we realized that the best of them created a sense of possibility of adventure.
Today we all want to create experiences that let us explore, experiment, create and challenge ourselves not just inside of our homes and kitchens, but outdoors as well. For some, outdoors means the backyard or the front porch. Others envision a tent or cabin, a lake or beach, a trail with a backpack or car with a bike rack.
Wherever outdoors is, experience and adventure await, and all that’s needed to bring them to life is US and the right gear, of course.
At domestic and international markets we continue to see so many great outdoor lifestyle products that we’ve dedicated an even larger portfolio to the topic this year. On the following pages you’ll find products that capitalize on both tradition and technology, helping consumers bring adventure to life whenever and wherever they find it.

As consumers continue to embrace outdoor living, which home product categories present the most likely opportunities for growth?
Joe Derochowski VP, Home Industry Advisor, Circana
Like peanut butter and jelly, outdoors and entertaining are a great match. Consumers are definitely looking for ways to connect with others and connect with nature, so we are seeing entertaining growing whether indoors, outdoors, at home, camping or tailgating. In addition, with warmer weather consumers are also spending more time making meals and connecting with others outside. Needless to say, innovations and solutions in outdoor living and entertaining will find a welcoming audience with consumers.
Helped along by a post-pandemic sense of liberty, consumers are taking every opportunity to enjoy the fresh freedom of their own backyards. However, standards have evolved new expectations and desires mean bringing indoor style, simplicity, and performance to the outdoors.
Think stylish and sturdy, modular and multifunctional, wireless and weatherproof. Even indoor/ outdoor versatility adds new value and experience.
The following selections prove that ease and flexibility are at the core of the Inside-Out lifestyle trend.

Trend Curve™
Trends in outdoor living mirror those for interiors more closely today than ever before. Case in point: Color. Whether the item is a hiker’s water bottle or an outdoor seating collection, use of trending colors from home décor is increasingly the norm. Expectations for comfort are shifting, too. That’s why fully upholstered sectionals, sofas and chairs that mimic their indoor counterparts are gathering momentum. Another example: folding chairs with adjustable padding, cup holders and storage, still lightweight and collapsible to fit a backpack or beach bag. High style convenience is also key. From fashion patterns on unbreakable tableware and multi-functional picnic baskets to elegant patio heaters and cordless, portable lighting. Consumers are opting for products that make outdoor living easy and trend-right.

For many, spending time in the great outdoors is, well, second nature. In fact, a growing appreciation of nature has drawn many to outdoor explorations; camping, glamping, hiking and biking are among the most popular solitary and group activities.
But our lives away from home don’t end there. We’re also back to commuting as well as traveling for work, school, vacations, and a host of other activities with family and friends.
Each of these, whether a chore or a choice, has its own set of challenges and demands. As consumers, we regularly seek new and improved product solutions to ease those pressures. We want less work, less mess, less waste. We need more simplicity, more functionality and even more fun.
Here are some of our trending favorites to smooth life’s journeys…

How has the consumer’s renewed love of the outdoors affected the assortments retailers are creating?
Julia Higgins Chair, Gift & Home Trade Association Director of Sales, Two’s Company
Consumers want to bring more indoor functionality and decor themes to their outdoor spaces, this has increased demand for decor and entertaining products with an indoor-inspired aesthetics. That said, items with natural fibers like sea grass and botanical motifs like ferns are popular. Consumers are also drawn to products that create an indoor-outdoor entertaining vibe even in seasons when it isn’t practical to entertain outdoors. This trend blends outdoor charm with the comfort of hosting and relaxing indoors at home.
53% of consumers surveyed say brand is extremely important when buying barbeque and grilling equipment and tools!
Making food at home to bring on our commutes, road trips, picnics and social gatherings is driving demand for food storage products.
Making the entire process faster and easier should be a core objective.
The focus on outdoor living and entertaining has continued to expand since the pandemic. What should the home and housewares industry be doing to ensure continued interest and engagement from consumers?
Paul Cosaro CEO Picnic Time Family of Brands
I feel strongly that the home and housewares industry needs to double down on its consumer focus. What better way to engage someone than to take the time to truly understand their wants and needs? There is so much data available to the industry and yet sometimes it feels like we’re still trying to fit a square peg into a round hole. Instead of telling them what they want, we need to ask the right questions, listen to what they have to say, and then deliver.
Easier said than done, but as a consumer myself, that’s what I’m looking for.

With the Dopamine Dressing trend in full swing, and Dopamine Décor following close behind, Dopamine Dining seems like a natural next stage. At the core of all three trends is the goal of evoking positive emotions, boosting our moods and making us happy. In the process, we nourish both emotional health and creativity.
Still, mapping a course to the consumers’ happy place can be challenging, since triggers vary from person to person. The key is staying focused on the most frequent mood elevators: nostalgia, humor, cheerful color, and products that encourage socializing with friends and family.
What follows are some of our favorite trend-worthy pick-me-ups.

Why has humor become such an important part of gifting and entertaining?
Winsor Pop SVP Business Development, FRED & FRIENDS
Humor has become essential in gifting and entertaining because it fosters connection, joy, and memorable moments. A funny gift or clever touch breaks the ice, expresses personality, and uplifts moods in stressful times. Humor resonates universally, transcending barriers of age and background. It adds a playful twist to the everyday, turning practical items into sources of fun while celebrating nostalgia and shared experiences, making life’s moments more joyful. Because nothing says “I care” more than a wine stopper shaped like a hot dog.
