PORTFOLIO 7: (Forces Of Nature) InSight Trend Index 2025/26
The HomePage News InSight™ Trend Index is an exclusive digital guide that explores emerging and enduring home and housewares trends through the products and innovations which embody them. InSight was developed in partnership with Springboard Futures and its founder, industry trend authority Tom Mirabile, who also serves as consumer and lifestyle trend strategist for the International Housewares Association and HomePage News. The Springboard team surveys major markets and tradeshows in the U.S. and abroad to identify dominant home and housewares product and design trends such as color, pattern, material, form and function. In addition, the team evaluates the influences likely to affect the success and longevity of these trends, such as social, economic and consumer lifestyle shifts.
Each new portfolio of Insight will deliver unique cross-category presentations of energizing, innovative products, fresh perspectives from industry experts, plus exclusive new data to keep you in step with today’s consumers.
New InSight portfolios will be released approximately every 4-6 weeks on HomePageNews.com. Whenever possible, issue release dates will be guided by significant industry considerations such as major tradeshows and market events, as well as estimated product development, introduction, and delivery cycles for home industry suppliers and retailers.
Letter from the creators
In addressing current and enduring style trends, we are struck by the expanding attention the design community continues to lavish on natural elements and inspirations. Certainly, eco conscious materials and technologies play a part in the story we recently explored in Portfolio 4: Future Focus. In this new portfolio, we have decided to focus not only on the latest trend, forms and materials, but also on the core earthly elements, flora and fauna that inspire designers and consumers alike.
This taste for the terrestrial is not in itself new. A passion for natural elements and their power and majesty are as ancient as cave dwellers and their storied murals. But as the trends continues their evolutions throughout modern lives and lifestyles, we welcome the inclusion of new focal elements and materials. These given both our industry and our consumers a broader palette than ever to create harmonious and rejuvenating home environments.

How will our love of nature and our concerns for the environment affect color trends for 2025-26.
Leatrice “Lee” Eiseman Director, Eiseman Center for Color Information and Training Executive Director, Pantone Color Institute
Our love of nature and concerns about the environment certainly played into our choice for the Pantone Color of the Year, Mocha Mousse 17-1230, as there is a continuing movement to align ourselves more closely with the natural world. Characterized by its organic nature, this rich brown shade honors and embraces the sustenance of our natural environment.
TREND: NATURAL WONDERS
Modernized Materials, Inventive Forms and Reimagined Themes Drive Design
In home and housewares product design, wood has always played a dominant role with its ability to deliver superior strength and durability as well as an impressive breadth of material variety. Currently, we see sustainable, contemporary and lighter wood forms and finishes gaining market and consumer adherence, while highlighting the unique beauty of woodgrain as a crucial style pattern play.
Meanwhile, alternative organic materials have taken important positions alongside wood. Among the front runners, natural stones are newly impressive thanks to a pervasion of updated color options ranging from ivory to golden Travertine neutrals to deep and expressive jewel-hued marbles, granites, and agates.
Forest influences also make a strong and inviting reappearance among Natural Wonders, with form and pattern and detail that bring nature up close and personal. Flora is expressive and textural in warm but vivid hues, and slightly over-scaled product proportions.

Which natural materials will be key components in popular home décor and design trend in 2025-26?
David Santiago Principal Designer, Casa Santi President, New York Chapter International Furnishings and Design Association (IFDA)
Wood and stone are making a striking resurgence in design, proving that these organic materials are becoming timeless staples in our living spaces. Among the various wood types gaining popularity, acacia, poplar and walnut stand out as top trend choices.
Regarding stone, alabaster has emerged as a fresh front-runner. Additionally, a range of marble types, such as the classic Carrera and the rich Vino Breccia, are gaining importance. These new materials are bringing a luxury and sophistication to decorative serveware and entertaining environments we’ve not seen in decades.

TREND: BUY THE SEA
Instinctive Associations with Relaxation, Tranquility and Natural Beauty Will Anchor Success for Coastal Styles
We all have at least a few wonderful water memories, and whether they transport us back to sea swept beaches, or lazy lakefronts, to ponds or parks or even poolsides, those memories invariably evoke feelings of relaxation, fun, family or even escape. That is why shore and nautical themes have become an indisputably evergreen style trend.
Still, like all other durable and reliably cyclical style trends, they require strong rivers of innovation and inspiration to keep retailers and consumers engaged. Following are some of the elements making waves at global markets.

Expert Perspectives
What role do design and style trends play in driving industry growth within the home and housewares sector?
To enable growth in an industry projecting moderate single digit increases, it’s important for manufacturers to diversify their portfolio.
Lora Morsovillo President, Home Durables Practice Circana
Those who integrate style and design into their assortments while also addressing evolving consumer needs are getting noticed and are gaining retail placement due to that differentiation.
Michelle Lamb Founder and Editorial Director of The Trend Curve™
What factors should manufacturers and retailers consider to determine what percent of their offerings are trend forward versus core?
To determine trend’s role in your assortment you must first know your brand and your customer. For example, if your brand’s goal is to be a leading-edge resource that customers rely on for fresh new looks, you should commit more heavily to trend products. About 30-35% of your assortment is a good target. Select categories, like back-to-school and seasonal items, can go even higher. If your customer sees you as the best source of steady, core items, trend’s role is smaller, but usually not less than 20%.
TREND: HOT TROPICS
A Menagerie of Captivating Fauna Thrives Amid Vivid, Exotic Flora to Reenergize Tropical Style
If there is a singular nature-inspired theme that is serving up floorto-ceiling style across global home markets, it is unquestionably Tropical. This trend has been building slowly a supporting role in the sweltering wings of the home style stage. Well, this year it has finally found its place in the spotlight as a bold and dramatic option in nearly every product category of home and housewares.
So, bask in all of its equatorial beauty. Think palms, protea, and pakka wood, mingling with multi-colored macaws and massive monstera leaves. Then use these vivid palettes as striking solid colors and bring new life to everyday objects.
