Nigeria will not participate but will benefit from membership by developing their sports recovery programmes. The new community structure for the Foundation enables access by member nations’ wounded, injured and sick service personnel and veterans to the wider programme of activity. Activities are available all year round and allow smaller nations or nations newer to sport recovery programmes to experience the power of sport, esports and adventurous challenge ahead of future participation in a Games. Prince Harry was inspired to bring the Invictus Games to London after visiting the Warrior Games in America 2013. The Duke of Sussex founded the Games as it is an important part of a broader legacy of support, through on-going care, training and employment opportunities, to the well-being of men and women who have served their country. The Foundation was set up post London 2014 to oversee the delivery of the Games and continue to support its international community. Since London hosts have been Orlando 2016, Toronto 2017 and Sydney 2018. Following The Hague and Dusseldorf the event moves to Vancouver-Whistler in 2025.
