Top 5 BIGGEST selling albums of all-time The UK’s most popular album is Queen’s 1981 Greatest Hits collection, which has more than 5.8 million sales to its name. The British rockers’ 1991 follow-up, Greatest Hits II, which was released in October 1991 - a month before lead singer Freddie Mercury’s death - also made it into the Top 10 (Number 10) with sales of over 3.8 million copies. The Beatles’ Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band album, which celebrates its 46th birthday in June, is at Number 2 in the chart with sales of just over 5 million. This is the eighth studio album by English rock band the Beatles. Released in June 1967, the album included songs such as "With a Little Help from My Friends", "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds", and "A Day in the Life". Abba’s Gold is narrowly behind Sgt. Pepper’s... with sales of 4.9 million, putting it at Number 3. It is a greatest hits album of recordings by Swedish pop group ABBA. It was released on 21 September 1992 through PolyGram, the first compilation to be released after the company had acquired Polar Music and thus the rights to the ABBA back catalogue. In 1998, PolyGram was in turn merged into what is now the Universal Music Group. Oasis’ 1995 sophomore release, (What's the Story) Morning Glory?, is at Number 4 with sales of over 4.5 million. (What's the Story) Morning Glory? is the second studio album by the
English rock band Oasis, released on 2 October 1995 on Creation Records. It was produced by Owen Morris and the group's guitarist Noel Gallagher. The structure and arrangement style of the album were a significant departure from the group's previous record Definitely Maybe. The record propelled Oasis from being a crossover indie act to a worldwide rock phenomenon, and according to music critics, it was a significant record in the timeline of British indie music. The Top 5 is completed by Michael Jackson’s 1982 epic, Thriller, which has sold more than 4.2 million copies in the UK. Like Queen, The King of Pop has two albums in the Top 10; 1987’s Bad is at Number 9 with sales of 3.9 million. Thriller is the sixth studio album by Michael Jackson. It was released on November 30, 1982, by Epic Records as the followup to Jackson's critically and commercially successful 1979 album Off the Wall. Of the nine tracks on the album, four of them were written by Jackson himself. Seven singles were released from the album, all of which reached the top 10.

A Salute to Saint George
By Heidi Wardman
April sees the anniversary of Saint George’s Day, which in complete contrast to Ireland’s St Patrick’s Day celebrations of last month, is barely acknowledged in England. Not only do a vast number of English people not know when St George’s Day is celebrated, many have no idea why. However, those who do are extremely passionate about the date, which they regard as a tribute to everything English, and keen to convert it into a national holiday as St Patrick’s Day in Ireland. St George is readily linked to traditional English principles of honour, bravery and gallantry. However, the saint was not born in England, but in fact hailed from Cappadocia in Turkey, during the third century. St George's parents were Christians, which has led to the anniversary being recognised by various Christian churches across many nations where St George is the patron saint, including England, Canada, Croatia, Portugal, Cyprus, Greece, Georgia, Serbia, Bulgaria, Romania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the Republic of Macedonia. Individual cities which also pay tribute to St George include Moscow in Russia, Genova in Italy, Ljubljana in Slovenia, Beirut in Lebanon, Qormi and Victoria in Malta, as well as the former Crown of Catalonia-Aragon in Spain, which incorporates Aragon, Catalonia, Valencia, and Majorca. The most widely accepted date across these areas is April 23, which marks the day of the saint’s death in AD 303.
So what made George a saint? According to the history books, a young George joined the Roman Army at the age of 17 years, where he became noted for his courage and commitment. Although he served under the pagan Emperor Diocletian, George never turned his back on the Christian faith. When the Emperor began a horrific persecution of Christians, George commenced his campaign to protect them, disobeying his leader and pleading for their lives. However his demands were ignored by the Emperor, who tortured George in an attempt to make him turn his back on Christianity. He allegedly displayed immense bravery and dedication to his faith throughout the ordeal, right up to the point when he was beheaded near Lydda in Palestine on April 23, 303. Obviously George’s life did not really end there, as in 1222 Oxford Council declared April 23 the official St George’s Day, and by the 14th Century he had replaced St Edmund the Martyr as England’s patron saint. The move is still contested by many today, due to the fact that George was not English nor had many links with the country throughout his life.
Slaying The Dragon The most famous legend about St George tells the tale of how he killed a dragon. During the middle ages, the dragon was commonly used to represent the devil, due to its immense stature and fire breathing abilities. As the first stories about George slaying a dragon did not emerge until the twelfth century- long after his death, it is likely that it was all a myth that has evolved through the ages. There are many regional variations of the story, although all show certain similarities, including that a town was repeatedly attacked by a dragon and that a young Princess was given as an offering in exchange for their freedom. George allegedly learnt of the Princess’s imprisonment and rode to the village, where he battled with the dragon eventually slaying it and the Princess was freed.
St George’s Day Traditions St George’s Day began to lose its popularity by the end of the 18th century, largely due to England’s union with Scotland. However, it has become increasingly more popular in recent years. In 2006 BBC 3 made a big fuss of the event, programming its entire schedule around the theme, and Romford Conservative MP, Andrew Rosindell began to lobby the House of Commons to make St George's Day a public holiday. This was backed by Mayor of London, Boris Johnson, in 2009, when he launched a campaign to encourage people across the UK to celebrate the day. Typical St George’s Day activities include Morris Dancing, Punch and Judy shows and Shakespearean theatrical performances, as the Playwright was born and died on St George’s Day. Another nationwide custom is to wear a red rose- the national flower of England. The St George’s Cross flag is also a prominent feature, used to decorate pubs, community centres and schools, whilst all manner of English foods, from fish and chips to afternoon cream teas are enjoyed. From beer and football to the Royal Family, there are a plethora of good reasons to celebrate England. So if you had a ball wearing green and drinking Guinness to honour St Patrick last month, why not continue the party for St George?

Thumbs Up For Good Old English Gr ub!
By Heidi Wardman
English food has often been described as “basic”, so its good news that the majority of traditional English taste buds favour basic grub! The influence of foreign immigrants and increased travel opportunities, have meant that English people now enjoy a truly international diet, incorporating a wealth of exotic ingredients and techniques. This gastronomic explosion was mainly triggered following World War II, when North American, Indian and Chinese settlers flooded across the border, introducing the English natives to garlic, chilli, exotic spices and a selection of sauces. Since then other influences from Thailand, Italy, Spain and France have had a dramatic impact on menus in homes and restaurants across the country. That said it does not stop the English from craving the tasty recipes that they were raised on. The typical English meal comprises “meat and two veg” with the meat constituting lamb, beef, pork, as well as chicken or fish, accompanied by potatoes in some form and one or sometimes two vegetables.
Here is a list of some of the nation’s favourite dishes to get your mouth watering: • Roast beef and Yorkshire puddings with all the trimmings • Toad-in-the-Hole • Fish and chips • Ploughman's Lunch- comprising cheese, salad, gherkins and pickled onions, served with chunks of fresh crusty bread • Cottage Pie or Shepherd's Pie with peas, carrots and gravy • Gammon steak with egg or pineapple and chips • Lancashire Hotpot- comprising lamb and vegetables in a rich gravy with slices of potato on top, and baked in the oven • Bubble and Squeak- this is basically a clever way of using up your leftovers from your Sunday roast. It usually contains any leftover vegetables, such as cabbage, swede, carrots, peas, Brussels sprouts, combined with onion and mashed potato, which are all fried until golden brown • Full English Breakfast- including fried bacon, sausages, eggs, tomatoes, mushrooms and toast • Meat pies and pasties • Bangers and Mash with peas, carrots and onion gravy.
And now for dessert: • Spotted Dick- for those who are not familiar with the dish, do not be deceived by the name! This is in fact a steamed pudding containing suet and dried fruit, traditionally served with custard • Trifle, served chilled and comprising layers of sponge cake, jelly, cream, jam and custard. Sometimes sherry or fruit are also added • Apple Crumble • Semolina pudding- a creamy dessert made with eggs, milk and sugar, and often served with raisins and jam • Jam Roly-poly and custard If that lot hasn’t got you grabbing your coat and heading off to the local chippie for a large helping of your favourite English treat, then I don’t know what will……Mmmmm, you can almost taste it !!!

Add the Superstar Touch to Your Family Album Have you ever wondered why the A-listers know how to strike the perfect pose the second that they see a camera? This is not a talent that they were born with, but takes months, and sometimes even years of practice, and the good news is that you don’t have to be a top model to pull it off!
By Heidi Wardman
The media goes mad to try to snap the stars looking less than perfect, with their fashion and beauty boobs being plastered across magazine pages as often as they’re sensational posed shots. This is mainly down to us, the readers, who would rather see the flawless beauties captured walking down the street with their skirt tucked in their knickers, when having a bad hair day or after a wild night on the tiles, which all makes us feel that much better about our own image hang-ups. This goes to show that it is not only celebs who want to look good, particularly in front of a camera! Therefore, we have compiled a few tips which will help you become more photogenic and make cringe worthy photos a thing of the past! 1. Try pressing your tongue hard against the roof of your mouth. This will help to elevate your under-chin area, eliminating embarrassing double chins and giving a more streamlined look. 2. Learn how to adopt the classic model pose when faced with a camera- Turn your body three quarters of the way toward the lens and place one foot in front of the other facing forwards. The angle of your body will give a svelte appearance taking pounds off your waistline. 3. If possible, close your eyes for thirty seconds before the shot. When you open them again your pupils will appear more dilated and thus more striking whilst you’re aura will generally seem more peaceful and smiley. 4. Avoid wearing yellow if you have fair skin, as this could make you look even more washed out. The same goes for white and light shades against darker skin tones. Big checks, patterns and swirls should always be avoided when preparing for a photo shoot, as regardless how fabulous you might look in real life, they tend to dominate a picture and give you a chunky appearance. 5. Think about your posture when having a photo taken- the chest out stomach in rule applies ten fold if you want to hide the belly bulge. The best way to achieve this elongated stance is to try to relax and push the shoulders back slightly, imagining that that an invisible thread is pulling you up from the top of your head. 6. Where make-up is concerned, apply the theory that less is more. Try to keep it simple and natural, as the camera will magnify the image and anything which is too heavy or flamboyant could make you look more like a drag queen than a beauty queen, especially in close-up shots. As a rule, concealer, mascara and a slick of gloss will do the trick. 7. Glance away from the camera and then back again just as the photo is being taken, for a natural, relaxed appearance. Ideally, the camera should be angled below your eye level to make you look taller and more slender. 8. Try to think of a celebrity that you resemble- perhaps you have the same shaped face, hairstyle and similar build- then have a rummage for some photos which they look particularly attractive in and attempt to imitate their pose. 9. ALWAYS check your appearance in the mirror prior to a shot being taken, as lipstick on the teeth, curled eyebrows and fuzzy hair will be the one thing that attracts attention even if everything else is perfect. 10. Finally, don’t be afraid to practice, even if you do feel a bit silly. With digital photography you can afford to experiment to find the pose that flatters you the most, allowing you to get it right on the day. You could even start in front of a mirror if you are really camera shy, focusing on different style tips and eventually putting them all together. And once you have done all this you will be all set to get out there and strike that perfect pose!
Happy Snapping!

The real-life celebrity superheroes saving those in need Heidi Klum turned from supermodel to superwoman when she saved her son from drowning. But the 39-year-old isn't the only celebrity to spring to the rescue when danger strikes. Who are the other stars who have proven it's not just in movies that the famous can be heroes? Kate Winslet plucked Richard Branson’s mum from the flames during a blaze on the family’s luxury Caribbean island. Virgin boss Richard later thanked the Titanic star for saving 90-year-old Eve back in 2011. Avatar star Zoe Saldana rushed to help out an elderly lady injured in a car crash last January. The 34-year-old did her best to patch up the woman before paramedics arrived. Hollywood hunk Brad Pitt saved a stricken movie extra from being crushed during an on-set stampede. The eagle-eyed hero plucked out the girl from a crowd of more than 700 while filming World War Z in 2011.
As well as plucking out a seven-year-old boy from the crowd who was in danger of being crushed at a film premiere, Tom Cruise has also paid a woman's hospital bill after witnessing a hit-and-run accident. As if that wasn't enough, the Mission Impossible star saved five holidaymakers from drowning off the Italian coast when their yacht sunk. Hunger Games star Jennifer Lawrence raced to help a collapsed young woman who had passed out close to her LA apartment last summer. The 22-year-old emerged from her flat in a tracksuit to assist the youngster. Harrison Ford cemented his hero credentials in real life when he took to the skies to track down a lost Boy Scout. The 70-yearold spent two hours flying over forests in Wyoming before swooping down to rescue the teenager back in 2001. Sofia Vergara, The Modern Family star started 2012 by rescuing a young woman who had collapsed at a Las
Vegas casino. Sofia and a pal used their medical know-how to come to the partygoer's aid. When Prince Harry’s best pal was mugged, the young prince sprung into action to seek out his stricken mate. Harry, who was on the phone to his friend at the time, drove down to the crime scene in Battersea, South West London, to come to his friend's aid back in December 2011. Mila Kunis apparently spends her spare time playing the part of a superhero. Mila saved the life of a 50-year-old worker at her home last year by putting the man into a recovery position and calling an ambulance for him. Actor Dustin Hoffman turned hero in 2012 when he helped out a jogger in Hyde Park who had suffered a heart attack. Dustin dialled 999 and tended to Sam Dempster who said he owed his life to the actor.

Your Budget Health and Beauty Saviour
by Heidi Wardman
We are constantly bombarded with magazine advertisements and TV commercials, recommending the best creams, oils and treatments for our hair and skin. However, not all of us boast the same bank balance as the A-listers. The good news is that there is one health and beauty secret to suit every budget! You don’t have to harm yourself with expensive treatments sold on the high street to stay looking young and beautiful. Remember those words of wisdom “Beauty comes from within”? Well in this case it is very true, as everything that you require can be swallowed in the form of an ingenious costeffective pill, protecting your looks from the inside out!
Caring For Your Hair Hair becomes more prone to splitting and breaking when it lacks the important vitamins and minerals it needs to stay healthy, shiny and strong. Damage is easily caused by over loading hair with styling products, colour treatments or perms, as well as heated appliances like hair dryers, curling tongs and straighteners. The environment in which we live can also be a damaging influence, with sun and wind quickly causing hair to dry out, and smoky atmospheres having a similar affect. Even using shampoo that is too harsh can strip your hair of its natural moisture. However, you can easily combat all of this by investing in a reliable multivitamin and mineral supplement. By swallowing one tablet a day your hair’s bounce and radiance should be restored, or at least resist any further damage. Beta-carotene is usually contained in multivitamins and is particularly valuable to hair as it converts into Vitamin A once absorbed, which is known to repair damage and encourage hair growth.
Vitamin B and the water-soluble vitamin B complex (biotin) is known to restore lost protein from hair, caused by a range of factors including natural aging, infusing it into the roots and making new growth more resilient, as well as reducing hair loss. Vitamin B can also be acquired from foods like meat, eggs and green leafy vegetables. Vitamin C helps to add shine and texture to hair, for an altogether healthier look. As well as in tablet form, Vitamin C can be found in citrus and other fruits as well as from green leafy vegetables. Vitamin E boosts skin circulation, which includes the scalp. Many believe that increased circulation leads to quicker hair growth as well as healthier looking locks, which are rich in natural oils. Omega 3 fatty acids are another miracle mineral which can help hair grow faster, as well as improving overall health and boosting shine. As well as in tablet form, Omega 3 fatty acids can be obtained from certain types of fish, like salmon and seeds including flax or chia.
Health Benefits It's no surprise that apples are good for you, it's earned the "keep the doctor away" reputation, after all, but there are a number of lesser-known reasons to pick up a juicy one today: 1. Apples lower cholesterol. One medium-sized apple contains about four grams of fiber. Some of that is in the form of pectin, a type of soluble fiber that has been linked to lower levels of LDL or "bad" cholesterol. That's because it blocks absorption of
cholesterol, which helps the body to use it rather than store it. 2. They keep you full. The wealth of fiber an apple provides keep you feeling full for longer without costing you a lot of calories, there are about 95 in a medium-sized piece of fruit. That's because it takes our bodies longer to digest complex fiber than more simple materials like sugar or refined grains. Anything with at least three grams of fiber is a good

TLC for Your Skin Our skin acts as a barrier against infection, so it is extremely important to look after it and try to minimize any sort of skin problems ranging from the occasional zit, to a more serious condition like acne. It is a myth that skin problems only occur in teenagers, as people of all ages can experience them if they are not eating the correct foods. And in fact, even skin that has a relatively healthy appearance will benefit from a vitamin supplement, in order to maintain its condition and your youthful looks!
Ideas to help you get the vitamins you need
Vitamin A is your key to younger looking skin. This is because it helps it to retain moisture, also increasing elasticity and reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. This vitamin is added to a wide range of beauty products, but just as effective if swallowed. Vitamin B (biotin) helps to replace lost protein in the skin, which can either be lost naturally overtime due to aging or due to other health or environmental factors. Vitamin B is obtained from a range of cereal products, as well as bananas. Vitamin C is the main ingredient required to boost collagen production. This means that we require an increased amount as we get older and our skin loses elasticity. Not only will a daily dose of Vitamin C help to keep your skin smooth and silky, it will also protect against environmental factors such as drying winds and sunburn. Aside from tablet forms, the best sources of vitamin C are citrus fruits, kiwi and strawberries. Vitamin E helps to combat the effects of environmental exposure and works best in conjunction with Vitamin C. Many creams and lotions available today claim to contain both vitamins, but it is difficult to ascertain the levels making a combined tablet form the ideal source. Vitamin K is every party animal’s best friend, as it helps to reduce the appearance of dark circles. This is because the vitamin can be absorbed directly into the skin's capillaries, which are responsible for creating the dark tone when we don’t get enough sleep. Some also claim that Vitamin K is also useful in preventing brown age spots and reducing the appearance of bruising. Vitamin K is believed to be most effective when applied as a cream or lotion, but having an extra dose in tablet form will certainly do you no harm!
of Apples source of the nutrient; most people should aim to get about 25 to 40 grams a day. 3. Apples may keep you slim. One component of an apple's peel (which also has most of the fiber) is something called ursolic acid, which was linked to a lower risk of obesity in a recent study in mice. That's because it boosts calorie burn and increases muscle and brown fat.
4. They can help breathing problems. Five or more apples a week (less than an apple a day!) has been linked with better lung function, most likely because of an antioxidant called quercetin found in the skin of apples (as well as in onions and tomatoes). The breath benefits of apples extend even further: A 2007 study found that women who eat plenty of the fruit are less likely to have children with asthma.

Wr a p Yo u r A r m s A r o u n d T h e Wo r l d fo r E a r t h D a y By Heidi Wardman There are lots of lesser known internationally nominated days, one of them which should perhaps be given more credit it than it currently receives- Earth Day. Earth Day takes place on April 22 each year, marking what is considered the birth of contemporary attitudes towards environmental issues. It was originally borne out of the hippie and flowerchild culture of the United States, although with war raging in Vietnam at the time and youngsters leading the protest for peace, saving the planet was not their top priority. In fact with their fuel guzzling vehicles and industry belching out smoke and other toxic waste products, the word “environment” bore little significance, with no fear of legal consequences or bad press for the bad practices. It was the New York Times’ nominated bestseller of 1962 “Silent Spring” written by Rachel Carson
which finally paved the way for a change in the mindset. The book sold a staggering 500,000 copies in 24 countries, which was a record at the time, working wonders in raising public awareness and concern for all living things, the environment and public health. Earth Day was founded by a US Senator from Wisconsin, called Gaylord Nelson, in 1970, building on the foundations which Carson had already laid and channelling the focus of anti-war protests towards worldwide environmental concerns. He was inspired by astronomical environmental disasters such as the 1969 oil spill in Santa Barbara, California, hoping that increased lobbying would help to push environmental issues into the political arena. Senator Nelson adopted the role of ambassador for the environment, encouraging the media to back his campaign, along with conservation-minded Republican Congress-

man, Pete McCloskey, who agreed to serve as his co-chair; and Denis Hayes who accepted the role of national coordinator. Hayes proved instrumental in transmitting their message to the public, creating a staff platform of 85 personnel who were responsible for hosting awareness raising events across the states. Their efforts paid off on April 22, when 20 million Americans filled the streets, parks, and auditoriums campaigning for a healthy, sustainable environment. Thousands of students attending US colleges and universities joined the protest, alongside of several environmental groups who had already been fighting to put a stop to oil spills, polluting factories and power plants, raw sewage, toxic dumps, pesticides, construction of motorways through rural areas and the extinction of wildlife. Earth Day 1970 also won widespread political support, with left and rightwing representatives agreeing that it was a worthy event. It was the success of the first US earth Day that led to the creation of the United States Environmental Protection Agency and approval of the Clean Air, Clean Water, and Endangered Species Acts. Towards the end of the 80’s, environmentalists called upon Hayes to help make Earth Day a global event. The move meant that Earth Day 1990 was acknowledged by 200 million people in 141 countries, elevating environmental issues in lands which
had paid no attention to their importance in the past. But as the severity of damage already caused to the environment became more apparent, it was considered that more drastic action should be taken to protect it. Therefore, at the start of the millennium, Hayes fronted another campaign focusing on global warming and clean energy sources. Earth Day 2000 marked a huge leap forward, with 5,000 groups in a record 184 countries sending environmental warnings to hundreds of millions of people via the internet, television, radio and public demonstrations. The incredible turn-out made an undeniable statement to world leaders as to public opinion regarding future environmental policies. In spite of its outstanding developments, Earth Day remains a contentious event, with sceptics and a disinterested public posing a barrier to further progress. Economic pressures have also left environmental issues in the shadows, as priority has shifted to survival on a daily basis. Nonetheless, activists continue to champion the campaign, encouraging people to think outside the box and safeguard the earth not just for today, but for generations to come.

Ibiza

by Sally Bengtsson
Ibiza, arguably the most famous Spanish island, is situated in the Mediterranean Sea 79 km off the coast of the city of Valencia. It is the third largest of the Balearic Islands, with an area of 572 km2, just 41km long and 15 km wide. So it is possible to rent a car and see most of the island in a few days, if you don’t want to stay in one place for your entire visit. Stepping away from the package holiday scene is highly recommended, and the islands beauty often goes unnoticed, as visitors stay put for their whole holiday. Despite the fact that Ibiza has become world-famous for its nightlife, and the electronic music the island has originated, it has a lot more to offer the visitor. It is well known for its summer club scene which attracts very large numbers of tourists, and offers world famous discos and clubs, such as Space, Privilege, Amnesia, Ushuaïa, Pacha, DC10, Eden, and Es Paradis. But the island's government and the Spanish Tourist Office have controversially been working to promote more family-oriented tourism, and the island is also home to the legendary "port" in Ibiza Town, a popular stop for many tourists and now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. A bit of History The Greeks called Ibiza and Formentera the Islas Pitiusas (Islands of Pine Trees). The landscape is harsh and rocky, and the island receives little rainfall. Alongside the hardy pines, the most common crops are olives, figs and almonds. Perhaps surprisingly, about half the island (especially the fairly unspoilt northeast) remains covered by thick woods. Indeed, driving around the back roads of the north is to plunge into a rural idyll – not what one associates with Ibiza at all! A rugged coastline is interspersed with dozens of sandy beaches, whose clear, turquoise waters mean that most have been consumed by intensive tourist developments. A few out-of-the-way beaches remain, but unfortunately, in summer at least, you won’t be doing much solitary swimming. Ibiza’s beaches and laid-back attitude first became a major drawcard in the flower-power heyday of the 1960s – while North America’s hippies were ‘California dreaming’, their European counterparts were heading here to tune in, turn on and drop out. It’s hard to believe that in 1956 the island boasted only 12 cars! Initially for the hip and fashionable, Ibiza (a mixed World-Heritage site because of Ibiza city’s architecture and the island’s rich sealife) soon latched on to the money-spinner of bulk tourism and started shipping in summer sun-seekers by the thousand. Today the island populace of 111, 100 watches on as millions (more than four million passengers are registered annually through the airport alone) of hippies, fashion vic-

tims, nudists, clubbers and package tourists pour onto the White Island each year. Ibiza Town, the island's capital on the southern shore, and Sant Antoni to the West are the main tourist magnets. During the summer, the top producers and DJs in dance come to the island and play at the various clubs, in between touring to other international destinations. Some of the most famous DJs run their own weekly nights around the island. Many of these DJs use Ibiza as an outlet for presenting new songs within the house, trance and techno genres of electronic dance music. Since 2005 live music event Ibiza Rocks has helped to redefine the Ibiza party landscape. Bands such as Arctic Monkeys, Kasabian, The Prodigy, and the Kaiser Chiefs have played in the courtyard of the Ibiza Rocks Hotel. Elsewhere on the island underground music parties are common and enjoyed by the many international musicians, artists, and travellers that are drawn to the unique creative environment of Ibiza. The island's government is trying to encourage a more cultured and quieter tourism scene, passing rules including the closing of all nightclubs by 6 a.m. at the latest, and requiring all new hotels to be 5star. The administration wants to attract a more international mixture of tourists. Large portions of
the island are registered as UNESCO World Heritage Sites. A notable example includes "God's Finger" in the Benirràs Bay as well as some of the more traditional Ibizan cultural sites such as the remains of the first Phoenicians settlement at Sa Caleta. Other sites are still under threat from the developers, such as Ses Feixes Wetlands, but this site has now been recognised by as a threatened environment and it is hoped that steps will be taken to preserve this wetland. Flights to Ibiza come in from a wide number of airports. There are also ferries to the harbour of Sant Antoni and Ibiza Town from Barcelona, Majorca, Dénia, and Valencia. There are also ferries to Formentera leaving Sant Antoni Harbour (normally every Wednesday), and daily from Ibiza Town, Santa Eulària, and Figueretes–Platja d'en Bossa. Ibiza's local cuisine is typically Mediterranean. One of the most common culinary products of the island are sweets known as flaons. Other savory dishes include sofrit pagès, bollit de peix (fish stew), arròs de matança (rice with pork) and arròs a la marinera. If you do decide to visit this beautiful island, step away from the crowds and enjoy some of the most beautiful beaches and whitewashed villages in Spain.

“I was torn between giving this book 3 stars and 4 stars. On the one hand, it's fairly predictable, the characters are not terribly compelling, it hinges on an enormous and very unlikely coincidence and the ending is saccarine sweet. On the other hand, it's immensely readable - I devoured it in one sitting - and despite its flaws, it has a genuine charm.”

“Excellent. Was disappointed when I finished it as it was so good I wanted to keep reading it.” “The first half is a great story -- continuing the story of the Clifton family. However, about halfway through it changes focus and I think starts to lack something. Hopefully the last book will be able to finish strong.”
GoodRead Readers Reviews “Miller delivers a spectacular glimpse of love, grace, and human depravity. he W orld’s B esstt April The d-uuppss Day WByinHeidi Fool’l’ss Da Wardman Have you ever fallen victim to an April fool’s day prank? Don’t worry as you are certainly not the only one! In fact global companies, the media and even celebrities have in the past, managed to have entire nations up in arms with their epic scams. We have compiled a few of the best which are guaranteed to make you giggle. On April 1 1915, when World War I was in full flow, a French aviator flew over a German camp and dropped what appeared to be a huge bomb. German troops fled in all directions, and were surprised and confused when no explosion ensued. Eventually, a few of the more courageous soldiers went to investigate, and found that it was actually a large football with a note tied to it conveying the cheeky message "April Fool!"
On the same date in 1950, motorists taking a scenic drive along a highway near Lake Arrowhead in Southern California were alarmed to find that that the pine and cedar trees lining the road had all produced oranges overnight. The miracle fruits were the work of the residents of the nearby town of Skyforest, led by the cartoonist Frank Adams, who had snuck out during the night to attach 50,000 oranges to the trees along a one-mile section of the highway! The fruit was left over from the recent National Orange Show held in San Bernardino and Adams could not resist the opportunity to stage the hoax.

On April 1 1982, the Daily Mail re-
newspaper “The Guardian” featured a special seven- page report about an island paradise called “San Serriffe”, a small republic located in the Indian Ocean. Various articles included in the supplement described the interesting geographical characteristics of the islands, being semi-colon-shaped, and their fascinating culture which is far removed from any found in the developed world. The report generated an overwhelming response from readers, who rang the Guardian’s offices in their hundreds, seeking further information about the mysterious holiday hideaway. However, little did they know that San Serriffe did not actually exist and was merely a very creative April fool's day spoof. Most did not even catch on to the typographical hints included in several details concerning the islands, including their name, which were all linked to printer's terminology. The success rate of the hoax is thought to have been the trigger for several future April Fools’ jokes brewed up by the British media.
ported that a local manufacturer had sold 10,000 "rogue bras" which were creating colossal problems, not to the wearers but to the public at large. According to their report, the underwiring in the bras was formed out of a type of copper originally designed for use in fire alarms. When it came into contact with nylon and body heat, it generated static electricity which was interfering with local television and radio broadcasts. Apparently, upon hearing the news, the chief engineer of British Telecom demanded that all female employees working in its laboratory reveal what time of bra they were wearing! I’m guessing he was a bit red in the face when he learned that it was a scam.
On March 31, 1989, motorists using road links around London were shocked to see a glowing flying saucer whizzing towards the city. Many even pulled over to the side of the motorway to watch the bizarre object hurtling through the air. The saucer eventually touched down in a

field on the outskirts of London, and the Police received several reports of an alien invasion. The Police raced to the scene, and one officer very bravely approached the craft brandishing his truncheon, but ran in the opposite direction when the doors burst open and a figure dressed in a silver suit bobbed his head up. It emerged that the UFO was actually a hot-air balloon specially created by Chairman of the Virgin Group, Richard Branson, which was meant to land in London's Hyde Park as an April fool’s joke. Unfortunately, the wind was not on his side on that occasion, forcing him to land a day early and in the wrong location!

An article produced by John Dvorak and published in a US computer magazine on 1 April 1994, described a new bill being passed through Congress, that would make it illegal to use the internet while drunk, or to discuss matters of a sexual nature over a public network. Dvorak even gave the law a
National Public Radio in the US continued the trend during its "Talk of the Nation" program, when it informed listeners that former- President, Richard Nixon, had declared his candidacy for the Republican presidential nomination. The broadcast included several audio clips, supposedly featuring Nixon delivering his election speech and declaring "I never did anything wrong, and I won't do it again." Harvard professor, Laurence Tribe, and Newsweek reporter, Howard Fineman, then took over the airwaves, giving a critical analysis of Nixon's decision and its possible impact on the 1992 presidential race. Press Secretary for the Bush-Quayle campaign, Torrie Clarke, also played a part in the set-up, claiming that "We are stunned and think it's an obvious attempt by Nixon to upstage our foreign policy announcement today." The broadcast provoked public outrage, with listeners phoning in declaring their shock and disgust at the news. However, all was revealed during the second half of the show, when Presenter, John
cryptic reference number 040194 (i.e. 04/01/94), and named the contact person as “Lirpa Sloof”- April Fools backwards. The article went into detail explaining how the FBI would be permitted to tap the phone line of anyone who "uses or abuses alcohol" while accessing the internet. It was suggested that the bill was certain to gain approval because "Who wants to come out and support drunkenness and computer sex?" The article provoked so many angry telephone calls to Congress that Senator Edward Kennedy's office had to release an official denial of the rumour that they were backing the new law.

It included all of the items of a standard Whopper (hamburger, lettuce, tomato, etc), but all the sauces were rotated 180 degrees for the benefit of their left-handed customers. The following day Burger King published another advert declaring that the Left-Handed Whopper had been a joke, but revealed that thousands of customers had fallen for it, flocking to the restaurants to try the innovative new snack!
On April 1 2002, the British supermarket chain Tesco published an advertisement in The Sun newspaper, claiming that the first 'whistling carrot' had been genetically produced. The bogus advert described how the carrots had been specially engineered to grow with tapered airholes in their sides, causing them to whistle when cooked and thus alerting the chef to turn down the heat! April 1 2008 saw the BBC release breaking news of Adélie penguins taking to the air. The miracle discovery was staged by camera crews filming near the Antarctic, for its natural history series “Miracles of Evolution”. Footage showed the creatures soaring across the sky, with Presenter, Terry Jones, explaining that, instead of huddling together to endure the Antarctic winter, these clever chaps had embarked on a journey to the rainforests of South America where they would "spend the winter basking in the tropical sun." A follow-up programme explained how the BBC created the special effects of the flying penguins.

April 2013 The revised Fiesta brings with it, happily, a new version of the pocket-rocket Fiesta ST, too. That little speed machine will make use of a 182-horsepower turbocharged 1.6-liter engine, as well as electronic torque vectoring, and looks like it will be a total hoot to drive. Sharp-eyed readers will quickly notice that Ford has downsized its trapezoidal front grille, as seen on the revised Fusion and Taurus, to augment the aggressiveness of the new Fiesta's schnoz. Angular headlights offer LED elements while bracketing a new "power-dome" design on the car's hood. New materials and extra metallic trim are designed to give the Fiesta's cabin a classier look, to help it compete with cars such as the Peugeot 208, new Renault Clio and VW Polo.
Ford's three-cylinder 1.0-litre Ecoboost petrol engine, which made its debut in the Focus, has been added to the updated Fiesta range. Ford are touting its EcoBoost engine as the bread-and-butter powerplant. That frugal turbo mill is expected to give the Fiesta best-in-class fuel economy in the highly competitive small car market, though the automaker has yet to report official consumption figures. It’s available in 99bhp and 118bhp forms. There's also a new 79bhp 1.0 litre petrol engine, a 1.25litre with either 59bhp or 81bhp, and a 104bhp 1.6-litre. A new 74bhp 1.5 litre TDCi diesel engine joins the Fiesta range, the other diesel option is the 94bhp 1.6-litre from the outgoing car. The new Ford Fiesta range comprises 45 models, over nine trims, including a new top-of-the-range Titanium X version costing around £15,845 and comes with a keyless entry system, part-leather seats and a Sony DAB stereo with Ford's multimedia SYNC system. Prices for the new updated fiesta range from £9,795 to £15,845

For all your home and business computer needs Welcome to this month’s computer article written by Richard from BlueMoon Solutions
Wireless Printers As people replace their ageing computer equipment we are finding that more and more people are buying laptops. There are advantages in replacing your old PC with a laptop i.e. the flexibility of being able to use your computer where and when you want, the space you get back by getting rid of that big tower, monitor and 100’s of cables that take up the space in the spare bedroom, and the fact that you can easily take it back and forth on trips around the world. One of the problems with moving from a PC to a laptop is deciding what to do with the printer that was sitting next to your PC, connected via a cable. Well, many people simply leave it there and walk their laptop to it every time they need to print boarding passes etc. However some are finding that moving to a wireless printer is the answer.
can print away to your heart’s content and usually by the time you get to the printer, your print jobs are sitting waiting for you to collect them. One common misconception with wireless printing is that by buying a wireless printer you will automatically be able to print from your tablet, iPad or iPhone. I’m afraid that this is not necessarily correct. In terms of “native” wireless printing from an Apple device, you will need to purchase an AirPrint compatible printer. Be careful about your printer choice as, in our experience, many companies will tell you that their printer is AirPrint compatible, when it is not. Look for the AirPrint logo to be certain that it is compatible with your Apple device. Most printer manufacturers have now created apps for mobile devices that allow you to connect in some way with their printers. Epson have the iPrint app for Android or Apple de-
As long as you have a wireless router (which anyone who wants to get the most out of their wireless laptop would have) then you can integrate a wireless printer quite easily into your home network. The advantage of a wireless printer, of course, is that it doesn’t have to sit in a convenient location for connection to a computer, it can sit inside a cupboard or on a shelf out of the way – as long as its plugged in you

vices, HP have their ePrint app and Brother have their own iPrint app - each one of these apps is a free download from either the Google Play Store or the Apple App Store. The other thing to take into account when thinking about a new printer is the type and cost of the ink cartridges. In general we find that the cheaper printers tend to have the more expensive ink cartridges. Look for a printer that has 4 (or more) cartridges opposed to the printers that take only 2 cartridges - the colour cartridge in this type of printers (known usually as tri-colour) has all 3 prime colours inside the one cartridge and once you run out of just one of the colours you have to replace the whole cartridge! Obviously with the printers that take separate cartridges, if you run out of yellow for example, you only need to replace that yellow cartridge making the whole process so much more cost effective – which is great! Talking about printers and inks www.spanishink.com is a great website to go to for printer inks. If you can’t find what you’re looking for then just drop them an email and they will research the best priced cartridge for you. Drop them an email if you are not sure which printer to buy - they can tell you which printers have the cheaper priced inks so it is best to contact them before you buy a printer to ensure that you make the best choice that will save you money on inks in the future, and you don´t need to take out a mortgage each time you replace your cartridges!
