The centrepiece of Ascot's year, Royal Ascot is one of Europe's most famous race meetings, and dates back to 1711 when it was founded by Queen Anne and since that time, a further eleven monarchs have leant their patronage to the Royal race course. The Royal Meeting, held annually in the third week in June, is steeped in tradition and pageantry and is interwoven into the very fabric of British culture. The five-day meeting commences on a Tuesday and each day begins with the Royal Procession, the arrival of The Queen and the Royal party in horsedrawn landaus, which parade along the track in front of the race- goers. The Royal Procession dates back to the 1820s and the reign of King George IV, at which time it was referred to as the Royal Parade or Royal Drive. The Queen takes a close personal interest in the running of Ascot and is kept informed of

the order of running and the development of the racing programme. Her Magisty has owned 20 winners at Royal Ascot. The Duke of Devonshire has held the formal role of 'Her Majesty’s Representative at Ascot' since 1997 and is responsible for all aspects of the Royal Enclosure and the Royal Family's attendance at Ascot. Access to the Royal Enclosure is restricted, with high security on the day. Firsttime applicants must apply to the Royal Enclosure Office and gain membership from someone who has attended the enclosure for at least four years. For existing badgeholders, an invitation is sent out by Her Majesty's Representative to request badges. The badgeholder's name is written onto the badge and can be used only by that person; the colours of the badges vary each day for one-day applicants.
Those in the Royal Enclosure have the options of fine dining and hospitality, and a selection of bars serving 30 different types of champagne that’s served. All of the following fine dining restaurants have private balconies or terraces with spectacular views across the track and Windsor Great Park beyond. Guests can soak up the pageantry as the Royal Procession proceeds up the track from the Golden Gates or experience the exhilaration as the best racehorses in the world thunder around the track in their bid to be named a Royal Ascot winner. - WINDSOR FOREST RESTAURANT - TOM KERRIDGE IN THE PANORAMIC - TRACKSIDE RESTAURANT - BESSBOROUGH RESTAURANT - CARRIAGES RESTAURANT - SANDRINGHAM RESTAURANT - IMPERIAL EVENTS VILLAGE

June 2013 In the Royal Enclosure the dress code is strictly enforced. For women, only a day dress with a hat is acceptable, with rules applying to the length and style of the dress. In addition, women must not show bare midriffs or shoulders. For men, black or grey morning dress with top hat is required. Over 300,000 people make the annual visit to Berkshire during Royal Ascot week, making this Europe’s best-attended race meeting. There are sixteen group races on offer, with at least one Group One event on each of the five days. The Gold Cup is on Ladies' Day on the Thursday. Royal Ascot for the first time in 2013 will feature prize-money of £5,000,000. A total increase in the prize-money purse of £500,000 for the meeting representing an 11% increase from 2012. Total prize money at Ascot throughout the 2013 season will be just above £10,000,000. Ascot racecourse has been redeveloped twice during The Queen's reign; the first redevelopment was completed in 1964. The second redevelopment started on 26 September 2004, for a period of twenty months, for a £185 million redevelopment funded by Allied Irish Bank and designed by Populous and Buro Happold. During the second redevelopment, the 2005 Royal Meeting was staged at York Racecourse.
As owner of the Ascot estate, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth reopened the racecourse on Tuesday 20 June 2006. However re-opening the new grandstand attracted widespread criticism for failing to provide sufficient raised viewing for patrons to watch the racing, and devoting too much space to money-spinning restaurants and corporate hospitality facilities. At the end of 2006 a £10 million programme of further alterations was announced to improve the viewing from lower levels of the grandstand using an innovative steel composite product to reprofile the existing concrete terraces. However, the upper levels provide far less accommodation for the everyday racegoer than was present in the former stand. In March 2009 it was confirmed that the main sponsors of Ascot, William Hill would be ceasing their sponsorship deal, citing that the decision by the BBC to reduce live race coverage as the main reason in its decision making process. Royal Ascot is a major event in the British social calendar, and press coverage of the attendees and what they are wearing often exceeds coverage of the actual racing. There are three enclosures attended by guests on Royal Ascot week. Ladies day is the highlight of the summer social calendar, every year without fail the royal racecourse is transformed into a sea of colour for the third day of the Royal meet. As befits tradition, statement hats are the order of the day 2012 saw everything from Olympic torches to teapots providing inspiration for the headgear on show, with many racegoers clearly keeping their biggest, boldest, and often most outlandish outfits just for the occasion.

Marriage in Spain
Marriage Formalities in Spain If you wish to get married in Spain, the first step is to contact the relevant authority in the place you are planning to get married, whether it be the town hall, registry office, district court or religious authority. They will be able to inform you of the documents they will require from you. This information is not given out by your local consulate, although you will need to visit them for some of the documentation.
Civil Marriages Applications for civil marriages must be made to the Civil Registry, District Court, or Town Hall in the place where the marriage is to be celebrated. As it may take some time to get an appointment, and the paperwork to be processed, it is important that you make contact with them at the earliest date possible. They will tell you what documentation they require.
Religious Marriages Requirements for religious marriages vary according to the denomination and area in which an applicant lives; they will then be asked for a variety of documents. Please consult with the relevant authority for information on these. Religious marriages are recognized as legal under Spanish law, but to obtain an official marriage certificate, the marriage must subsequently be registered with the local civil authorities. Therefore, it is very important to confirm that the officiator of the marriage is licensed to marry and to establish arrangements for the subsequent registration. Make sure you ask if the officiator will register the marriage on your behalf or whether they will provide you with the paperwork to do so yourselves.
Legalisation/Apostille of Documents and Translations Legalisation is the official confirmation that a signature, seal or stamp on a UK public document is genuine, however, it does not authenticate the content. This is usually required by the authorities before they will allow UK documents to be used for official purposes. All the documents required by the authorities will need to be translated, word for word. We advise you to contact an official registered translator (traductor jurado), who is registered with the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs – a full list can be seen on the webpage of the Ministerio de Asuntos Exteriores y Cooperación. Consulates can also recommend this type of translators who are local to your area. This translation and legalization of documents will cost – so make sure that when making enquiries, one of them is the price.
If you need any guidance or someone to help point you in the right direction, why not give us a call
Don’t forget Have your resident´s income tax in before the 30th June!
Certificates and Paperwork Below is a list of certificates which may be required by the relevant authorities in Spain in order for you to get married here. You may find it useful to phone ahead and check with your consulate what paperwork you will need to take with you. Passport and NIE/residencia Certificate of Marital Status Certificate of No Impediment (CNI) Consular Registration Certificate Consular Certificate of Nationality Divorce/Death/Marriage/Deed Poll Certificate Birth Certificate (up to date type, check with consulate) Town Hall Registration Certificate (Empadronamiento)

The British and Irish Lions, formerly known as the British Isles and the British Lions, is a rugby union team chosen from players from the national sides of England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales. The "Lions", as they are known, generally select international players but they can pick uncapped players available to any one of the four unions, although in recent years this has rarely occurred The Lions will kick-off their 125th anniversary tour against the Barbarians at the Hong Kong Stadium. It will be the first time the Lions have played in Hong Kong, and their second game against the Baa-Baas. The two sides met at Twickenham on 10 September, 1977, to mark the Queen's Silver Jubilee. The 2013 Lions tour manager, Andy Irvine, played for the Lions in their 23-14 win. This historic Lions' 125th Year Anniversary Tour to Hong Kong & Australia will uniquely kick off with a first ever Lions' match vs the Barbarians in Hong Kong on Saturday 1st June in the marvellous Hong Kong Stadium. Hong Kong, long time favourite venue on the IRB Sevens Tour, is looking forward to welcoming thousands of red jerseyed Lions' fans for a great weekend of events. The Lions then head to Australia and land in Perth for their match vs Super 15 team, the Western Force at Patersons Stadium on Wednesday 5th June. Thousands of ex-pats will swell the Red Army as it adds valuable support to the Lions on a daily basis. The Lions have played in Perth four times before and never lost, but this will be the first time they have faced a Super Rugby side there. In 2001 they rattled up their biggest score in beating a Western Australia XV 116-10 at the WACA. In 1989 it was 44-0 to the Lions against Western Australia, 60-3 in 1966 and 71-3 in 1930. Transversing Australia's vast magnificent country, the Lions then head east to Brisbane for their match against the Queensland Reds. Suncorp Stadium hosts the Reds vs the Lions on Saturday 8th June. Many Red Army members have blocked off some time to head to the Gold Coast either at this stage or when back in Brisbane area for the 1st Test.
The Red Army will then 'march' back to Brisbane for the 1st Test against the Qantas Wallabies at Suncorp Stadium on Saturday 22nd June. Twelve years ago the Lions won the 1st Test here 29-13 and the Red Army took over Brisbane! 'Waltzing O'Driscoll' was added to the Tour Songs repetoire and 'Delilah' roared louder than 'Matilda'! Hopes will be high as the Lions' head south to 'sports capital' Melbourne for their game against the Melbourne Rebels on Tuesday 25th June. So many sporting, historical & cultural venues here will keep the Red Army busy prior to another huge Test confrontation against the Qantas Wallabies at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday 29th June. The third and final Lions' Test vs the Qantas Wallabies takes place in Sydney on Saturday 6th July. All Lions' fans will be hoping for a series win, whether it's clinched here, or earlier in Melbourne !!
The fans message clearly is
GET ON BOARD AND ROAR!
More & more Lions supporters will land and/or gravitate towards the Lions' as the 2013 Tour builds momentum towards the Test Series. The Red Army will head next to Newcastle, a comfortable 2 hour drive from Sydney, where the Lions take on a combined NSW/QLD Country side on Tuesday 11th June at Hunter Stadium. The Lions' selection for their next game vs the NSW Waratahs will be keenly anticipated as it is then only a week to the first Test. The truly historic Sydney Football Stadium plays host to the 'Tahs vs the Lions on Saturday 15th June. Another short road trip to the Nation's Capital in Canberra sees the Lions' take on the ACT Brumbies on Tuesday 18th June at Canberra Stadium.

Healthy Feet Ready For Summer Your feet take the weight of your whole body, so foot problems can quickly lead to discomfort and affect the way you walk. This can in turn cause knee, hip and back pain. The good news is that looking after your feet can prevent most of these problems. Investing a bit of time and thought into caring for your feet now can prevent them causing you pain later.
4. Change socks daily If you have to wear socks in hot weather, change them once a day and choose ones that contain at least 70% cotton or wool to keep your feet dry and stop them smelling. 5. Remove hard skin Hard, cracked skin around the heels is very common in summer, often caused by openbacked sandals and flip-flops rubbing around
tween the toes if you’re wearing flip-flops with "thongs". Lorraine Jones, a podiatrist from The Society of Chiropodists & Podiatrists, says the key to preventing summer blisters is to keep your feet dry, wear shoes or sandals that fit well and aren’t too loose, and give your feet ample rest so they don’t get hot and sweaty. If you do get a blister, don’t put a plaster over it. Leave it to dry out on its own. 7. Ring the changes Wear a variety of different sandals and shoes during summer to help prevent cracked heels, hard skin and blisters. Lorraine says: “We understand that when the summer arrives, people are naturally going to opt for lightweight footwear such as flip-flops and flimsy sandals. However, we’d recommend alternating your footwear so that you aren’t wearing this style of shoe day in and day out."
Use these 10 summer footcare tips from The Society of Chiropodists & Podiatrists to get your feet in shape for summer. 1. Trim your toenails for summer Use proper nail clippers and cut straight across, not too short, and not down at the corners as this can lead to ingrown nails. File them, if that’s easier. 2. Go barefoot Go barefoot or wear open-toed sandals whenever you can in the hot weather (except when you’re in a communal shower or changing area) to help stop your feet getting sweaty and smelly. 3. Forget flip-flops Don’t be tempted to wear flip-flops all through the summer. They don’t provide support for your feet and can give you arch and heel pain if you wear them for too long.
the edge of the heel. Use a foot file, emery board or pumice stone to gently rub away the hard skin, then apply a rich moisturising cream such as aqueous cream or E45 to soften the skin. 6. Banish blisters Blisters strike more often in hot weather. They’re caused by rubbing, especially be-
8. Watch out for foot infections The floors of communal showers and changing rooms at open-air and hotel swimming pools are hot spots for infections such as athlete’s foot and verrucas. Don’t wander around public pools barefoot. Protect your feet by wearing flip-flops in the changing room and at the pool edge. 9. Tackle sweat If you have sweaty feet in the summer, it’s

June 2013 even more important to wash your feet each morning and evening in warm, soapy water then dry them thoroughly. You can also use an antibacterial wash, which helps deal with foot odour. Then wipe them with cotton wool dipped in surgical spirit and dust them with talc. 10. Get help if you need it Basic hygiene and nail cutting should be all you need to keep your feet healthy. But if you have any problems, such as hard skin that you can’t get rid of, it's best to seek professional help Foot pain advice for over60s If you're over 60, foot care becomes even more important. Age takes its toll: your skin thins, your joints begin to stiffen and your feet become more vulnerable to the cold. Not only that, but physically, it gets more difficult for us to get to our feet, and failing eyesight doesn’t help. Go to see a professional for a foot MOT every six months and never put up with foot pain as if it is normal. Your feet shouldn’t hurt.
temperature or time of year. But teenagers and pregnant women are especially prone because hormonal changes make them sweat more. You’re also more likely to have foot perspiration if you’re on your feet all day, if you’re under a lot of stress or you have a medical condition called hyperhidrosis, which makes you sweat more than usual. Fungal infections, such as athlete’s foot, can also lead to bad foot odour. According to the Society of Chiropodists and Podiatrists, feet become smelly if sweat soaks into shoes and they don't dry before you wear them again. Bacteria on the skin break down sweat as it comes from the pores. A cheesy odour is released as the sweat decomposes. Your feet sweat into your shoes all day so they get damp and bacteria start to grow. The bacteria continue to breed once you’ve taken your shoes off, especially if you put them in a dark cupboard. Then, when you put your shoes back on the next day, even if you’ve just had a shower, putting your feet into still

your shoes regularly. The key is never to wear the same pair of shoes two days in a row, instead, wear different shoes on successive days so they have a minimum of 24 hours to dry out. And make sure teenage boys have two pairs of trainers so that they don’t have to wear the same pair for two or more consecutive days. It is also important to wash and dry your feet every day and to change your socks (ideally wool or cotton, not nylon) at least once a day. If you’re particularly susceptible to sweaty feet, you could also try:
· Dab between your toes with cotton wool dipped in surgical spirit after a shower or bath, surgical spirit helps dry out the skin between the toes really well, in addition to drying them with a towel
· Use a spray deodorant or antiperspirant on your feet – a normal underarm deodorant or antiperspirant works just as well as a specialist foot product and will cost you less
· Put medicated insoles, which have a deodorising effect, in your shoes
· Try feet-fresh socks – some sports socks have ventilation panels to keep feet dry, and antibacterial socks are impregnated with chemicals to discourage the odourproducing bacteria that feed on sweat

June 2013 downpour precautions. The widest range of entertainment ever was on offer, with over 300 bands, a kaleidoscope of theatre, comedy and cultural adventures, and more than 250 food stalls – all publicised on a buzzing Glasto web site and broadcast on BBC2. Greenpeace, Water Aid and Oxfam again benefitted. This year’s event was sadly overshadowed by the death of organiser Michael Eavis’s wife Jean. A winged wicker sculpture was ceremonially burned in her honour, whilst fireworks erupted into a moonlit sky. Tickets sold out in under 24 hours making 2003 the fastest selling Glastonbury Festival. It was widely acclaimed as ‘the best yet’ - the weather was perfect, atmosphere chilled, Pilton was crime free and the line up brilliant. Over a million pounds was paid to local groups and charities. Greenpeace, Oxfam and WaterAid were the main beneficiaries and on site FairTrade led a high profile campaign. In 2004 a massive over demand for tickets frustrated all concerned. The weather in the run up to the Festival was not on our side. However, the improved drainage and organisation triumphed to contribute to the safest ever Festival. ‘Working together for a greener Glastonbury" paid off – with 32% of all waste recycle including 110 tons of organic waste composted. Streams and hedges remained unpolluted, she-pees were installed. Coffee and chocolate were FairTrade. Benidorm The Costa Blanca’s Tourist Capital The Mediterranean equivalent of New York! Like it or dislike it, Benidorm is a must see for everyone, even if it is just so that you can say ‘I’ve been there’! Benidorm is Costa Blanca’s major tourist resort with the capacity to cope adequately with over 500,000 tourists over the peak-season period. Six out of every ten visitors to the Valencian and Costa Blanca Region opt for Benidorm, in order to take full advantage of its irresistible promise of sun and sand. There are about 4 miles of breathtaking beaches in Benidorm and crystal clear waters as well the beautiful Playa Levante beach which lies with great restaurants, cafes and bars. The Old Quarter of Benidorm situated aside the promontory that separates the two Benidorm beaches. The Cerro Canfali headland that is veined by narrow lanes and al-
leys, converges in the lightfilled Balcón del Mediterráneo belvedere, whitewashed and decorated with blue tiles, an ornamental motif repeated along the balustrade that graces stretches off the seafront of Benidorm. This small Old Quarter corresponds to the original fishing village and is presided over by the blue-tiled domed roof of the 18th century San Jaime Parish Church.
Peacock Island The locals refer to it as simply L’illa (the island) using the valencian dialect, but whatever you call it the fact remains its one of the most easily recognized symbols of this massive tourist town and if you’ve never made the journey across the bay to explore it, then you really should, because it’s a great day out. There is a boat that leaves every hour from the port and takes around 20 minutes each way. The amazing Benidorm skyline seen from the Mediterranean and framed by the towering Puig Campana mountain (the one with the hole in the top) is simply stunning, in fact the whole trip is worth it just for that view. When you get to the island you can spend as little or as long as you want. Enjoy an ice cream or some typical tapas in the restaurant or make a day of it and take a picnic. The island is a protected national park so flora and fauna abound, wander the path to the summit for a great view of the coast right up to Alicante, then find a comfy patch of rock or undergrowth to enjoy your picnic, with just the fresh sea air and the gulls for company.

Gemini is the third sign of the zodiac, and those born under this sign will be quick to tell you all about it. That's because they love to talk! It's not just idle chatter with these folks, either. The driving force behind a Gemini's conversation is their mind. The Geminiborn are intellectually inclined, forever probing people and places in search of information. The more information a Gemini collects, the better. Sharing that information later on with those they love is also a lot of fun, for Geminis are supremely interested in developing their relationships. Dalliances with these folks are always enjoyable, since Geminis are bright, quick-witted and the proverbial life of the party. Even though their intellectual minds can rationalize forever and a day, Geminis also have a surplus of imagination waiting to be tapped. Can a Gemini be boring? Never! Since Geminis are a mix of the yin and the yang, they are represented perfectly by the Twins. The Gemini-born can easily see both sides of an issue, a wonderfully practical quality. Less practical is the fact that you're not sure which Twin will show up half the time. Geminis may not know who's showing up either, which can prompt others to consider them fickle and restless. They can be wishy-washy, too, changing their mood on a simple whim. It's this characteristic which readily suggests the Mutable Quality assigned to this sign. Mutable folks are flexible and go with the flow. Further, the Twins are adaptable and dexterous and can tackle many things at once. It's a good thing, too, when you consider their myriad interests. The downside of such a curious mind, however, can be a lack of follow-through. Ruled by Mercury, Geminis exhibit a delicious brand of mercurial energy. They are quick-thinking, quick-witted and fast on their feet, much like the messenger god of Roman mythology that rules their sign. Geminis are both curious and clever, which is why they are such a hit at cocktail parties. Although they talk a great game, they also love to listen and learn. With any kind of luck, the Twins will find themselves in interesting company, because if they don't, they are likely to get bored and start fidgeting. Any social setting is a good one for a Gemini, however, since these folks are charming, congenial and love to share themselves with their friends. While their effusiveness may be misconstrued as scheming by some, Geminis generally have their hearts in the right place.
Cancer, the fourth sign of the zodiac, is all about home. Those born under this sign are 'roots' kinds of people, and take great pleasure in the comforts of home and family. Cancers are maternal, domestic and love to nurture others. More than likely, their family will be large, too the more, the merrier! Cancers will certainly be merry if their home life is serene and harmonious. Traditions are upheld with great zest in a Cancer's household, since these folks prize family history and love communal activities. They also tend to be patriotic, waving the flag whenever possible. A Cancer's good memory is the basis for stories told around the dinner table, and don't be surprised if these folks get emotional about things. Those born under this sign wear their heart on their sleeve, which is just fine by them. The mascot of Cancer is the Crab, and much like this shelled little critter, Cancers are quick to retreat into their shells if it suits their mood. For Cancer, it's not that big of a deal, though, since they consider this 'shell' a second home. The flip side of this hiding is that shell-bound Crabs are often quite moody. Further, in keeping with their difficulty in sharing their innermost feelings, it can become a Herculean task to pry a Crab out of its secret hiding place. What to do? Give the Crab time, eventually these folks will come out to play again. When they do, they'll be the first to say so, in keeping with the Cardinal Quality attached to this sign. It's said that Crabs are first to laugh and first to cry, so you can bet they'll fill you in. That shell, by the way, isn't the only tough thing about Crabs. These folks are tenacious and strong-willed and like to get their way. If their well-documented kindness and gentleness doesn't do the trick, however, they're not above using emotional manipulation to make things happen. If that still doesn't work, they'll just go back to their shell and sulk, or find a way to get back at the source of their pain, since Crabs can be rather vindictive. That said, any self-respecting Crab would tell you that they are ultimately motivated by protecting their home and loved ones, a most noble goal. Cancers are ruled by the Moon, the Great Mother of the heavens in ancient times. The Moon is associated with fertility, too, a quality that is most pleasing to Cancers. The Moon is also the ruler of moods, and Cancers have plenty of those. These folks can cry you a river if they're so inclined, and they usually are. They can be overly sensitive, easily hurt and prone to brooding. Even so, Crabs find it easy to be sympathetic to others and are quick to show their affection. Their intuition is also a great help to them, especially in times of stress.

The Jungle Drums
Summer Solstice June 20-21 is a very important day for our planet and its relationship with the sun. June 20-21 is one of two solstices, days when the rays of the sun directly strike one of the two tropical latitude lines. June 21 marks the beginning of summer in the northern hemisphere and simultaneously heralds the beginning of winter in the southern hemisphere. The earth spins around its axis, an imaginary line going right through the planet between the north and south poles. The axis is tilted somewhat off the plane of the earth's revolution around the sun. The tilt of the axis is 23.5 degrees; thanks to this tilt, we enjoy the four seasons. For several months of the year, one half of the earth receives more direct rays of the sun than the other half. When the axis tilts towards the sun, as it does between June and September, it is summer in the northern hemisphere but winter in the southern hemisphere. Alternatively, when the axis points away from the sun from December to March, the southern hemisphere enjoys the direct rays of the sun during their summer months. June 21 is called the summer solstice in the Northern Hemisphere and simultaneously the winter solstice in the Southern Hemisphere. Around December 21 the solstices are reversed and winter begins in the northern hemisphere. On June 21, there are 24 hours of daylight north of the Arctic Circle (66.5° north of the equator) and 24 hours of darkness south of the Antarctic Circle (66.5° south of the equator). The sun's rays are directly overhead along the Tropic of Cancer (the latitude line at
23.5° north, passing through Mexico, Saharan Africa, and India) on June 21. Without the tilt of the earth's axis, we would have no seasons. The sun's rays would be directly overhead of the equator all year long. Only a slight change would occur as the earth makes its slightly elliptical orbit around the sun. The earth is furthest from the sun about July 3; this point is known as the aphelion and the earth is 94,555,000 miles away from the sun. The perihelion takes place about January 4 when the earth is a mere 91,445,000 miles from the sun. When summer occurs in a hemisphere, it is due to that hemisphere receiving more direct rays of the sun than the opposite hemisphere where it is winter. In winter, the sun's energy hits the earth at oblique angles and is thus less concentrated. During spring and fall, the earth's axis is pointing sideways so both hemispheres have moderate weather and the rays of the sun are directly overhead the equator. Between the Tropic of Cancer and the Tropic of Capricorn (23.5° latitude south) there really are no seasons as the sun is never very low in the sky so it stays warm and humid ("tropical") yearround. Only those people in the upper latitudes north and south of the tropics experience seasons.
bathed in the sea. This custom was maintained over time and in 1928 formally established Hogueras de San Juan a fiesta. For several days, Alicante celebrates this great tribute to the fire, in which the main protagonists are ephemeral works of art: the "fires", the enormous figures of cardboard and wood that are burned on the night of San Juan In Britain the solstice is famously associated with Stonehenge. Stonehenge was made thousands of years ago, out of huge stones put together in the shape of a circle. When the Sun rises on the day of the summer solstice, it lines up with one of the stones, called the heel stone, and its first rays shine through a stone archway in the centre circle. Stonehenge first existed 5,000 years ago, which means it existed thousands of years earlier than Ancient Egypt or Ancient Rome. The stones used to build it weigh several tons and had to be carried many miles, in some cases hundreds of miles. Nowadays, just like in the past, thousands of people celebrate the summer solstice at Stonehenge every year. Stonehenge is a source of awe and mystery for many: although we know Stonehenge must have been very difficult to build, no one knows exactly how or why it was built. Some people think it was used as a kind of calendar. By looking at how the Sun lines up with the stones, you can tell what time of year it is.
In Spain the arrival of summer is welcomed in with the Hogueras de San Juan, Bonfires of San Juan. Alicante celebrates the arrival of summer with the Bonfires surrounded by music, color, fireworks and entertainment, thousands of people take to the streets to experience this event that pays tribute to fire. To celebrate the arrival of summer, traditionally people went to dinner on June 23: eat local products and when it was midnight lit bonfires, danced around, set off fireworks and

The 7th Formula 1 race takes place on Sunday 9th June in MontrĂŠal, Canada. In the 1960s the rivalry between French and English speaking Canada meant that the country's Grand Prix had two homes: Mosport Park one year and Mont-Tremblant the next. By 1970, however, Mont-Tremblant was deemed too dangerous and the race moved full time to Mosport Park. In 1977 the French Canadians, motivated by the incredible success of Gilles Villeneuve, decided it was about time they built a race track. Building a new circuit simply wasn't feasible, however, as time and money were against them. Their solution was simple and effective. Taking the Ile NotreDame, they connected all the island's roads and made a circuit. The island had been the home of the 1967 World Fair (Expo'67) and was full of futuristic looking buildings. It was, everyone agreed, a perfect venue for a Grand Prix. After $2m was spent on upgrading the circuit to Formula One standards, the first race was held there in October 1978. Gilles Villeneuve, in his first season with Ferrari, was yet to win a Formula One race, but at his home Grand Prix he took a memorable debut victory. Following his tragic death in 1982, the track was renamed in his honour. His son, Jacques, never won at the track but some of the great drivers of the sport have taken the spoils here. Michael Schumacher holds the record of having won seven times in Canada. It is also the scene of Jean Alesi's single Grand Prix victory in 1995, driving the number 27 Ferrari, the same car number which carried Gilles Villeneuve into the hearts of the Canadian Formula One fans.

June 2013 The 8th Race takes place on the 30th June and is the British Grand Prix at Silverstone. Like so many of England's racing circuits, Silverstone started life as an aerodrome. When the Second World War ended, England's other two circuits, Donington Park and the legendary Brooklands, had fallen into disrepair. And so it was that the outer taxiways and interconnecting runways of Silverstone became adopted by the Royal Automobile Club as the home for the British Grand Prix in 1948. The circuit was fast and challenging and in 1949 the shape was formed that remains the basis of the track to this day. When the Formula One World Championship was incepted in 1950, Silverstone held the very first round, won by Guiseppe Farina in an Alfa Romeo. In 1951 the British Racing Drivers' Club (BRDC) was handed the lease by the RAC, and huge modifications were made. The pits were moved to the straight between Woodcote and Copse, from the Farm straight where they had originally been, and a short circuit was built within the larger circuit, cutting from Becketts corner to Woodcote. From 1955 the British Grand Prix swapped venues between Aintree and Silverstone, but with the advent of the 1960s, Aintree fell out of favour and the race was switched between Silverstone and Brands Hatch.
In 1971 the British Racing Drivers' Club (BRDC) bought the entire 720 acre plot on which Silverstone sits and went about redeveloping the track. New pits were built and a chicane was erected at Woodcote which provided close finishes and great overtaking opportunities. In 1987, with speeds reaching astounding levels, a corner was built before Woodcote, and in 1992 a new complex of corners was created between Farm and Woodcote. And in recent years various upgrades have been made to the track's facilities. A racing school now exists at the circuit and with government funding a new bypass has been built, greatly improving access to the once notoriously out-of-the-way venue. In 2010 came another major change to the circuit's Formula One layout, designed to further improve the venue for spectators and provide an even greater driver challenge. The new infield layout juts right at the reworked Abbey bend before heading into the new Arena complex of turns. This takes drivers on to the main straight of Silverstone’s National circuit, before rejoining the previous Grand Prix layout at Brooklands.
2013 season changes
DRS Use For safety reasons, drivers are only able to utilise the Drag Reduction System (DRS) overtaking aid within the designated DRS zones during practice and qualifying. Active Double-DRS Systems Outlawed In 2012 Mercedes developed an opening in the rear-wing endplate when DRS was activated and then fed through the car to help stall the front wing. Active drag reducing systems involving the DRS, such as this, have been banned. Stepped Noses Teams have the option of tidying up the aesthetics of their cars, with the introduction of new regulations aimed at improving the look of ‘ugly’ stepped noses first seen in 2012. Crash Testing To make F1 cars ever safer, tougher new tests on roll structures and the survival cell have been introduced. Furthermore, every chassis that a team produces, as opposed to just one, will now be subject to a static load test of the survival cell. Curfews The team personnel curfew, which prevents team members from being in the paddock during specified periods, has been extended from six to eight hours on Thursday nights. Front Wing Tests Front wing deflection tests will be more stringent to lessen the possibility of flexible bodywork being used to enhance aerodynamic performance. Force Majeure Any car that stops on the track must have enough fuel for the mandatory one-litre minimum sample plus an additional amount proportional to the amount of fuel that would have been used in returning to the pits. Championship Entry Fees Championship entry fees have been revised. Red Bull, as constructors’ champions, were required to pay US$500,000 plus US$6000 for each point gained in the 2012 World Constructors’ Championship to enter the 2013 championship. Every other team was required to pay a basic fee of US$500,000 plus US$5000 for each point scored in 2012.

Quick Tips - Things you might not know about your computer This month we look at little tips and tweaks, things that we all have on our computers but that you might not realise even exist. 1. Show the desktop in Windows 7 or 8 You may not be aware, but a new icon appeared with Windows 7 to allow the desktop to be quickly shown whenever needed. It’s a small bar to the right of the clock and date icon in the bottom right hand part of your screen. Just move the mouse there and click, hey presto you see the nice friendly desktop. 2. Place a shortcut on the desktop Most of us know that if we want to find a program we can click on the start button in Windows 7 and with a few clicks we can find the program that we need. In fact if the program is often used Windows will automatically place it as one of the first icons we see when we click the start but-
ton, however you may not know how easy it is to place a link to that program on the desktop. To do this just find the program in the start menu, right hand click it and choose the option to “send to desktop”. 3. Magnify text on web pages From time to time we all come across websites that have really small text on them and its useful to temporarily make the screen larger. Well that’s pretty easy if you have a mouse with a scroll wheel on it - whilst in the offending website, hold down the CTRL key on the keyboard and use the scroll wheel on your mouse to magnify or reduce the size of the page. If you don’t use a mouse or don’t have one with a scroll wheel on it then you can do the same thing using the plus and minus (+ -) keys on the keyboard. 4. Take a screenshot to show someone your problem Occasionally you might need to take a screenshot of a problem or something else on your computer that you want to send to another person. This is pretty easy to do this with a simple keyboard shortcut. Just hold down the CTRL key and press the PR SCR (print

screen) button, and this will place a copy of what’s displaying on the screen into your clipboard. To then get access to it, just open up your email program or word processor and
click paste. 5. Turn Windows features on or off Perhaps you can’t find the games on your new computer, or you can find them and don’t want them. You can easily turn on or off a whole host of Windows features by going into the control panel > programs > turn windows features on or off. That’s about it for this month, if you are interested in previous articles then you can see a full list at our website: www.bluemoonsolutions.es/articles or you can have them automatically sent to your inbox by signing up to our newsletter at the same address.

Even though things are moving along well, you need to be aware of your relationships. Listen to what people are telling you. You might have a lesson that you need to learn.
Pisces 19 February - 20 March If you’re feeling that things are too calm, try something new. Even a new class or a new book can help get you out of a funk. Check in with a friend to see if they’re up for an adventure.
You’ve got to be joking Three friends die and go to heaven. When they reach the Pearly Gates, St. Peter greets them, giving them the usual schpeel that everyone gets when they're about to enter, and as they are walking in he says " By the way, I almost forgot the new rule. Whatever you do, don't step on a duck." The three friends think this is an odd rule, but they agree to it and step in.
Q: How can you tell that a blonde's been baking chocolate chip cookies? A: There's M&M shells all over the floor.
The second they enter they realize that the final rule might be harder to follow than they thought. Heaven is TEAMING with ducks! Try as they might, they quickly realize that avoiding the birds is going to be a difficult task. And then it happens, "QUACK!" Friends Two and Three look over in shock as Friend One steps on a duck. Quickly, an angel rushes over with one of the most unattractive people the three of them have ever seen. "Because you stepped on a duck, you are condemned to spend the rest of you time in the Kingdom shackled to this person. Have a good eternity." The angel shackles the two together and flies off.
Q: Why did the ants dance on the jam jar?
After seeing what happened to Friend One, the other two are more wary of the consequences and begin treading extremely lightly. The two of them make it another three days before, on the dawn of the fourth day, a loud "QUACK" is heard. Friend Two looks to Friend Three, wide-eyed, fearing the worst. The angel rushes over, ties Friend Two to a hideous being, and flies away. The third friend, now petrified that this will be his fate, becomes incredibly paranoid, barely walking anywhere. He lasts one week, two weeks, but on the beginning of the third week an angel brings one of the most stunningly beautiful people the friend has ever seen, shackles the two of them together, and flies off. Bewildered and excited, Friend Three proclaims, "Wow! What did I do to deserve this?" And the person the friend is shackled to turns and replies "I don't know what you did, but I stepped on a duck!"
A: The lid said, "Twist to open."
A cat has 9 lives. What animal has more lives than a cat? Answer: A frog, because it croaks every night.
