Top Tourist Attractions

SPAIN

Spain is a surprise to those who have the image of having to fight for towel space at one of its crowded beaches or sipping sangria while watching a bull fight or flamenco. From the ancient monuments left by the Romans and Moors, the medieval castles of the interior, the white villages in inland Andalucía or the vibrant cities of Barcelona and Madrid, there is a great mixture of cultural attractions in Spain. The landscape varies just as widely. The evergreen estuaries of Galicia could hardly be more different from the deserts of Almería or the rugged mountains of the Sierra Nevada. And then there are the countless glittering beaches that dot the Spanish coast. Although busy in summer even along the coast of the big tourist Costas some enjoyable beaches can easily be found.

10. Palacio Real

8. La Concha

The Palacio Real (Royal Palace) of Madrid is the official residence of the King of Spain although it is only used for state ceremonies. The Royal Palace was built between 1738 to 1755 and King Carlos III took up residence in the palace in 1764.

Protected from strong winds by steep cliffs and islands, La Concha in San Sebastian is said by many to be one of the best city beaches in Europe, let alone Spain. Here you can go surfing, walk along the promenade in search of good restaurants and enjoy the beautiful views of the beach.

9. Running of the Bulls

7. Aqueduct of Segovia

Pamplona is a city in Navarra, famous for its San Fermín festival held each year from July 6th – 14th. At the heart of the festival is El Encierro, the Running of the Bulls, an activity that involves running in front of a dozen bulls that have been let loose, on a course of the town’s streets.

The Aqueduct of Segovia is one of the best-preserved monuments left by the Romans in Spain. The ancient aqueduct carries water 16 km (10 miles) from the Frío River to Segovia and was built of some 24,000 massive granite blocks without the use of mortar. Probably constructed around 50 AD it still provided water to the city in the 20th century.

3. El Escorial

6. Cuenca

Nestled in the foothills of the Sierra de Guadarrama, El Escorial was the political center of the Spanish empire under King Philip II. Philip appointed Juan Bautista de Toledo as the architect in 1559 and together they designed El Escorial as a monument to Spain’s role as a center of the Christian world. Today it functions as a monastery, royal palace, museum, and school.

Situated between Madrid and Valencia, Cuenca is a marvelous example of a medieval city, built on the steep sides of a mountain. The many “hanging houses” are built right up to the cliff edge, making Cuenca one of the most striking towns in Spain, a gem in the province of Castilla La Mancha.

5. Ibiza Ibiza is one of the Balearic Islands in the Mediterranean Sea, off the coast of Spain. The island is one of the most popular party destinations in all of Europe. During summer, the island’s population doubles as tourists flock to Ibiza to enjoy the night clubs, beach bars and restaurants.

2. Mezquita of Cordoba The Mezquita (Spanish for “Mosque”) of Cordoba is a fascinating building famous for the forest of pillars and arches inside the main hall. The site was originally a Roman temple, then a Visigothic church, before the Umayyad Moors built the Mezquita. After the Spanish Reconquista a cathedral was built into the center of the large Moorish building.

1. Alhambra Part fortress, part palace and part garden the Alhambra is situated on a plateau overlooking the city of Granada in southern Spain. The palace was constructed in the 14th century by the Nasrid sultans. The Alhambra is now one of Spain’s major tourist attractions and many visitors come to Granada just to see the Alhambra.

4. Sagrada Familia The Sagrada Familia is a large Roman Catholic church in Barcelona, and one of Spain’s most visited tourist attractions. It’s a design by Antoni Gaudí, a Catalan architect who worked on this project for almost 40 years until his death in 1926. The construction of the basilica began in 1882 and still as yet not finished.

Made Simple

What to do in case of a car accident in Spain Although we try to avoid car accidents by driving safely and know that it is much better not to get involved in an accident at all, you may be wondering, what should I do if I'm ever involved in a car accident? Well, in this article, we will discuss the top 10 things that you should do if you're ever involved in a car accident. So, sit back, relax and get ready to learn! 1. Remain calm and stay put for a moment to assess the situation. First and foremost, remain calm. Put on your reflective jacket, put on your hazard lights and set out the emergency triangles. Although you may be feeling tense, excited, upset or all three emotions, the absolute worst thing that you can do is flee from the scene. Yes, it might feel tempting to drive away but fleeing from the scene of the incident is never a good idea and may bring harsh penalties. Instead, you should remain where you are, stay calm and by all means, DO NOT FREAK OUT. By maintaining a calm and focused, you'll remain in control and will be able to provide key information. 2. Don't admit fault. Even if you believe that the accident was your fault, you should never, ever admit fault to anyone other than your insurance agent or your lawyer. Never discuss your feelings with the other involved party and never agree to pay for any damages. Instead, don't discuss it at all and remember that anything you say can and will most likely be utilized against you. Many people wrongly admit fault because they get so caught up in the emotion of being in an accident that they blurt out fault without thinking or evaluating the facts. They get caught up in the moment and don't have time to process the incident. As a result, they end up making an untrue statement based on emotions that adversely affects their case. Instead, they should take some time to evaluate the facts, discuss the issue with their lawyer and then make a “fault based determination." 3. Move out of the way. If your car is located in a high traffic area, you should move out of the road of traffic. By moving your car, you may be able to avoid another accident. The only exception to this is if your car is so badly damaged that it can't be moved. If that is the case, simply leave it where it is until you have assistance. 4. Check out your passengers. Check to see if anyone needs medical attention. If they do, seek medical assistance immediately by calling 112 and asking for “Policia y Ambulancia”. Explain the situation and give the exact location of the accident. Act quickly and calmly because you have no time to waste. Time is of the essence in getting the required care for the injured person(s). If you're trained in first aid then implement medical procedures. Just remember to never move someone who is badly hurt (unless you believe that moving them might prevent further injuries). 5. Warn other motorists. Warn other motorists that the accident has occurred. This can be accomplished by placing emergency triangles on the road or turning on your car's hazard lights. If you are able too move away stand on the edge of the road preferably behind the crash barrier. 6. Report the accident. Contact the police on 112 immediately to report the accident. When you reach them, remain calm and ask to speak in “Ingles” clearly. Tell them exactly where you're located so that they can find you. They'll likely inform you whether they'll be sending an officer or whether you'll

be required to meet them at the police station to file a police report. If the accident involves another vehicle, fill out the blue declaration of accident form and have it signed by both drivers, so each of you have a copy of the same form. Take down registration numbers, names and addresses of the drivers and make photos with your mobile phone if possible. 7. Contact insurance company. After you contact the police and have a police report, contact your insurance company to report the claim within 7 days. Many policies require this step to approve of your claim and may deny it if you don't call in a timely manner. When you talk to your claim representative, be prepared to give them detailed information about the accident. 8. Exchange vital information. Make sure that you obtain the other driver´s name, address, phone number, date of birth, driver's license numbers of driver and witnesses, insurance company information and policy numbers. Also jot down the make of their car, year, model, colour, registration number. Lastly, write down any names and addresses of all witnesses. 9.Draw a detailed diagram. Draw a detailed diagram of the accident which includes a picture of both cars before, and after the accident – there is a place to do this on the blue declaration of accident form. In addition, if you notice any skid marks, lights, stop signs, etc., make sure that you include them as well. Lastly, if you have a camera or picture phone, make sure that you take photographs because these may be used as evidence. 10. Fill out a police report. Next, take your time when filling out the police report. Be as accurate and truthful as you can and provide the police with all requested information. Write clearly and be as detailed as you possibly can. In conclusion, no one wants to be involved in a car accident. However, if you are involved in one, you don't have to panic. Instead, you should remain calm and don't drive away. Stay put, don't admit fault, move away from oncoming traffic, evaluate your passengers, warn other motorists, report the accident to police, contact insurance company, exchange vital information, draw a detailed diagram and fill out a police report. By doing this, you'll improve upon a very difficult situation and provide invaluable aid when it is needed the most. Update your boring wine glasses by adding some jewels and beads. Use superglue to carefully stick each piece on and leave to dry for 3 hours. Remember not to put these in the dishwasher and only hand wash.

Uses for Tea Tree Oil 1. To create an all-purpose cleaner, combine 2 teaspoons of tea tree oil in 2 cups of water in a spray bottle. 2. Another version would be 14 ounces of water with 1 ounce of Murphy’s oil soap and 10 drops of tea tree oil. 3. Mix the above solution with kosher salt to scrub bathtub and bathroom tiles. 4. Add a few drops to dishwasher dis-

penser, then fill with a green dishwashing soap. 5. A few drops added to each load of laundry leave your clothes smelling cleaner. 6. Control mould with a tea tree oil/water spray. 7. Remove mustiness with that same tea tree oil/water spray. 8. To keep germs at bay, spray it on high

Often when we wake up we fail to remember even a single sequence of the dream we had during the night. A strange fact remains therefore, that dreams are almost always forgotten, except if a person is woken up at the REM stage.

Dreams speak in indirect language Dreams never utilize symbols they actually stand for. A lot of research has already gone into the subject and books have been written on dream

Thus a good night's sleep combined with regular dreaming is our body's way of staying fit too! Very interestingly, people who are born blind only witness dreams involving smell, sound or touch, while people who go blind after birth are seen to witness regular dreams just like their counterparts with vision.

And so do animals

In what is known as a "Lucid dreaming" phase one can control their dreams. Thus, one can also manipulate their dreams and even the outcomes!

Not many of us are aware that we become temporarily paralyzed in the dream state. This can be attributed to the fact that sometimes we may be so moved with certain dramatic dreams as to fall and hurt ourselves, thus, as a natural response the body goes into a temporary inactive state physically.

How often have we dreamt we were hungry or thirsty or performing an act repeatedly in our sleep until we wake up and undertake the activity? Sometimes one could dream of drinking glasses of water only to wake up and be very thirsty!

Disturbed sleep may lead to psychosis

Some people only dream in black and white

Studies have revealed animals and more specifically mammals dream exactly the way humans do! So even your household pet may be dreaming all night without your knowing about it.

Some people dream only in black and white while about 70% of people dream in colors. Certain dreams are very common to some people such as, failing an exam, getting up late for the exam, dreams related to one's school, seeing a person dead who is alive in real life, being chased by someone etc. Studies are being conducted in the relevance of colors and repeated sequences in dreams.

Although we tend to forget about 90% of our dreams once we wake up, many great scientists have made discoveries in their dreams and written them down the moment they woke up. Newton, Graham Bell and even some poets have received their inspirations from dreams.

Some great inventions were first conceived during sleep

ranean climate.

The scientific name for this plant is Portulaca Oleracea however, it is more commonly known as Baby’s Pillow or Moss Rose. Originating in Argentina and Brazil it was brought to Europe around 1820. It is an annual plant which rarely grows more than 15 to 20 centimeters in height and around 30 to 40 centimetersin diameter. It is a creeper with stalks and fleshy leaves. After germinating in the late spring or early summer stalks grow which branch off horizontally along the ground. These branches are course and red in colour ending in green, spatula shaped leaves. The plant flowers abundantly in summer with a splash of colour, red, yellow, orange or white. It is ideal as a ground covering plant but also suits hanging baskets or pots. It grows well in bright sunlight and its flowers close when not bathed in sunlight and reopen the following day.Abundant watering is recommended when the plant is flowering profusely in summer and less so in spring and autumn. In summer the purslane makes an excellent ornamental plant, well suited to the Mediter-

Australian Aborigines use the seeds to make seedcakes. Greeks fry the leaves and the stems with feta cheese, tomato, onion, garlic, oregano, and olive oil, add it in salads, boil it or add to casseroled chicken. In Turkey, besides being used in salads and in baked pastries, it is cooked as a vegetable similar to spinach. In the south of Portugal (Alentejo), "baldroegas" are

Madrid

September 2012

by Sally Bengtsson

Situated right in the centre of Spain, its capital Madrid, is a cosmopolitan city that combines modern buildings with a large cultural and artistic heritage, a showcase for centuries of exciting history. Madrid offers a broad range of accommodation and services along with the most advanced audiovisual and communication technology. All this, combined with the momentum of a society that is dynamic and open, and at the same time warm and welcoming, has turned this metropolis into one of the western world's great capitals. The Madrid area has been settled since the Lower Paleolithic age, but it was not until 1561 that King Philip II made it the capital of his mighty empire.

Gran Via

The historic old town, also known as "Madrid de los Austrias" (referring to the Hapsburg empire) is a living example of the city's 16th and 17th century heyday, as is its impressive Plaza Mayor (square), which was opened in 1620 and remains one of Spain's most popular and typical spots. Near the Plaza Mayor is the so-called "aristocratic centre" of Madrid, home to the stunning Royal Palace, a 17th century monument that combines Baroque and Classical styles. Next to the palace you can find the Plaza de Oriente (square), the Opera House and the modern Almudena Cathedral, consecrated in 1993 by Pope John Paul II.

Retiro Par k

This ensemble of monuments is completed by the Puerta del Sol, a square flanked by select shops, and the "Paseo del Arte", so called for its unique museums, palaces and gardens, not forgetting the unmistakable Bank of Spain building, the Palacio de las Telecomunicaciones (currently home to the Spanish Post Office) and the Cibeles and Neptuno fountains. Art and culture are central to Madrid life. The city has no fewer than 73 museums that cover all fields of human knowledge. Of these, the most important are the Prado Museum, one of the world's greatest art galleries, the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum with more than 800 paintings, sculptures and tapestries that go from the earliest Dutch masters to the most avantgarde trends, and the Reina SofĂa National Art Centre, which is dedicated to Spanish contemporary art, with works by Picasso, Joan MirĂł, Salvador DalĂ and Juan Gris among others.

Visitors and residents alike can enjoy the sun, go for walks, go rowing or feed the squirrels in Madrid's large parks and gardens. The Retiro Park, once playground of Spanish Monarchs, the Casa de Campo and the Juan Carlos I Park among others make Madrid one of Europe's greenest capitals. If there is one thing, however, that characterizes Madrid, it is the deep, contagious passion for life reflected in its friendly, welcoming people. Madrid boasts concerts, exhibitions, ballets, select theatre productions, and the latest cinematographic releases. You can sample a wide variety of the finest Spanish and international cuisine or be enchanted by its bars and taverns. These are just some of Madrid's leisure alternatives, alongside tempting shopping in the most traditional establishments and world-famous outlets stocking the finest international brands. Madrid's happening nightlife is another major attraction. Its pubs, bars, discos and flamenco clubs have a tremendous atmosphere, while by day there are traditional verbenas (open-air dances), popular festivals or the San Isidro bullfighting festival - rated as the world's most important. Don't be surprised if you get stuck in a traffic jam at four in the morning, and the people you meet are not necessarily going off to work.... The climate of Madrid is characterized by warm dry summers and cool winters. It has a population of over three million. Museums Here is some information about four of the best museums to visit in Madrid El Prado Located in an 18th building designed by Juan de Villanueva, the Prado is considered one of the most important art galleries in the world. BlueMoon Solutions is the computer and IT services company on the Costa Blanca. We aim to provide high quality computer services at realistic prices - we specialise in providing services to small businesses and home users

For all your home and business computer needs Welcome to this month’s computer article written by Richard from BlueMoon Solutions

Print your own art... I’ve recently bought an SLR camera and of course I have been taking pictures of anything that moves - and most things that don’t! Over a very short period of time I have managed to build up quite a large collection of some very badly taken pictures, however, hidden in the dross are a couple of gems; coincidences of good subject matter happening at the same time as the correct settings being loaded on the camera – certainly nothing to do with my skill anyway! So it’s these pictures I have recently wanted to print and place somewhere in the house, but how best to do it? Ok, I could print them at high quality on some decent photo paper, but then the image just looks like a photograph and I was looking for something more like a painting. I know that I could spend ages in PhotoShop or even ask friends who are more proficient at it than me (listen, you can’t be good at everything!) to produce something closer to a painting, but that would take up too much precious time and as my dive instructor Dave would say, that would eat into “beer time” – no I needed a simpler solution. The answer must be online, so I turned to Google to help me. I first searched for “canvas printing” and was pleased to find a whole host of really good websites dedicated to printing your photos onto framed canvas,

Contact Us

sites like www.yourimage2canvas.co.uk and www.photocanvasprinting.com and whilst the prices and ease of use of the website were fantastic, they seemed only to deliver to the UK and Ireland which, of course, was a problem. I then decided to search for “foto en lienzo” (photo on canvas) to see whether there were any similar sites that cater for the Spanish

PAGE

The website allowed me to upload my own picture, decide what size I wanted it to be printed, choose a frame and even choose how the sides of the picture should be wrapped around the frame. The site then allowed me to change the picture by adding an effect (just what I wanted as they offered an oil painting effect). The site also offers printing onto aluminium or acrylic or just mounted into a standard frame, there really are a good deal of options available. Once designed I confirmed my address and payment details and I am reliably informed that my artwork is winging its way towards me – all for less than 50 euros delivered to my door – not bad really! They even offer free delivery by UPS for orders over 75 euros!

market and I was disappointed to find a great deal of badly designed websites that were not half as interactive as the sites I had found when searching in English. Then I stumbled across www.mi-arte.es – it was exactly what I was looking for, an easy to use, well designed website that had 4 simple steps to getting my photo onto canvas. The site was all in Spanish with no option to change to English; however my Google Toolbar took care of that. Remember we talked about the Google Tool-

bar a few months ago for converting foreign websites into English - http://www.bluemoonsolutions.es/google-toolbar

I’ve not received the picture yet, so I can’t vouch for their delivery times but if they are as good as their website is easy to use then I shouldn’t have any problems – if you decide to use them, let me know how you get on.

You’ve got Stupid Signs •At a car dealership in Maryland to announce new seat belt legislation: "Belt your family. It's the law." •In restaurant: "Open seven days a week and weekends. •Road sign seen on the island of Cyprus. (translation of the Greek): 'Caution: Road Slippery from Grapejuice' •Seen in a health food store. "Shoplifters will be beaten over the head with an organic carrot" •In a Florida maternity ward: "No children allowed." •In a clothing store: "Wonderful bargains for men with 16 and 17 necks." •In a Pennsylvania cemetery: "Persons are prohibited from picking flowers from any but their own graves." •On a Tennessee highway: "When this sign is under water, this road is

impassable." •In front of a New Hampshire car wash: "If you can't read this, it's time to wash your car." •Sign in a shoe store: "Come in and have a fit." •Sign in a maternity clothes store: "We are open on labor day." •Sign in a non-smoking area: "If we see you smoking we will assume you are on fire and take appropriate action." •Sign on the door of the maternity ward: "Push Push Push." •Sign on used car lot: "Second hand cars in first crash condition." •Sign on fence: "Salesmen welcome. Dog food is expensive." •Sign in a science teacher's room: "If it moves, it's biology. If it stinks, it's chemistry. If it doesn't work, it's physics."

What’s on your back? Three men are traveling in the Amazon, a German, an American, and a Mexican, and they get captured by some Amazons. The head of the tribe says to the German, "What do you want on your back for your whipping?" The German responds, "I will take oil!" So they put oil on his back, and a large Amazon whips him ten times. When he is finished the German has these huge welts on his back, and he can hardly move.

One Last Request Once upon a time a Scotsman, an Englishman and an Irishman were captured by the Red Indians on a prospecting trip in North America. They been tied up against their respective totem poles for a day when the Chief walked up to the Englishman, pinched the skin of his upper arm and said, "Hmmm, heap good skin, nice and thick. Will make heap good canoe. You have a last request?" "That case of gin I had when your boys caught me. I'd like that", says the Englishman. He's provided with his gin and is taken off to a teepee for his final night. The Englishman drinks two bottles of gin. In the morning the Indians dispatch him, skin him and make him into a canoe. The canoe lasts a couple of days when it tears on a rock. Next day the Chief walks up to the Scotsman, pinches the skin at the top of his arm and says, "Hmmm, heap, heap good skin, very, very thick. Will make heap, heap good canoe. You have a last request? "Ah'll huv ma whisky back", says the Scotsman. He's provided with his whisky and taken off to a teepee for his final night. The Scotsman drinks three bottles of whisky. He's already dead when the Indians come to collect him the next morning. They skin him and make him into a canoe. The canoe lasts a week before it tears on a rock. Next day the Chief walks up to the Irishman, pinches the skin at the top of his arm and says, "Hmmm, heap, heap, heap, heap good skin, very, very, very, very thick. Will make heap, heap, heap, heap good canoe. You have a last request? "I'd loike a fork.", says the Irishman. The Chief gives him a funny look but gives him the fork. The Irishman takes the fork, stabs himself repeatedly shouting, "Yer no makin' any bloody canoe outta me!"

The Amazons haul the German away, and say to the Mexican, "What do you want on your back?" "I will take nothing!" says the Mexican, and he stands there straight and takes his ten lashings without a single flinch. "What will you take on your back?" the Amazons ask the American. He responds, "I'll take the Mexican."

Chocolate Peanuts A man visits his aunt in the nursing home. It turns out that she is taking a nap, so he just sits down in a chair in her room, flips through a few magazines, and munches on some peanuts sitting in a bowl on the table. Eventually, the aunt wakes up, and her nephew realizes he's absentmindedly finished the entire bowl. "I'm so sorry, auntie, I've eaten all of your peanuts!" "That's okay, dearie," the aunt replied. "After I've sucked the chocolate off, I don't care for them anyway."

Green Golf Balls A blonde golfer goes into the pro shop and looks around frowning. Finally the pro askes her what she wants. "I can't find any green golf balls," the blonde golfer complains. The pro looks all over the shop, and through all the catalogs, and finally calls the manufacturers and determines that sure enough, there are no green golf balls. As the blonde golfer walks out the door in disgust, the pro asks her, "Before you go, could you tell me why you want green golf balls?" "Well obviously, because they would be so much easier to find in the sand traps!"

to be joking Some reasons why the English language is hard to learn... The bandage was wound around the wound. The farm was used to produce produce. The dump was so full that it had to refuse more refuse We must polish the Polish furniture. He could lead if he would get the lead out. The soldier decided to desert his dessert in the desert. Since there is no time like the present, he thought it was time to present the present. A bass was painted on the head of the bass drum. When shot at, the dove dove into the bushes. I did not object to the object. The insurance was invalid for the invalid. There was a row among the oarsmen about how to row. They were too close to the door to close it. The buck does funny things when the does are present. A seamstress and a sewer fell down into a sewer line. To help with planting, the farmer taught his sow to sow. The wind was too strong to wind the sail. After a number of injections my jaw got number. Upon seeing the tear in the painting I shed a tear. I had to subject the subject to a series of tests. How can I intimate this to my most intimate friend?

Womens Vocabulary Fine - This is the word women use to end an argument when they feel they are right and you need to shut up. Never use "fine" to describe how a woman looks - this will cause you to have one of those arguments. Five Minutes - This is half an hour. It is equivalent to the five minutes that your football game is going to last before you take out the trash, so it's an even trade. Nothing - This means "something," and you should be on your toes. "Nothing" is usually used to describe the feeling a woman has of wanting to turn you inside out, upside down, and backwards. "Nothing" usually signifies an argument that will last "Five Minutes" and end with "Fine". Go Ahead - (With Raised Eyebrows!) This is a dare. One that will result in a woman getting upset over "Nothing" and will end with the word "Fine". Go Ahead - (Normal Eyebrows) This means "I give up" or "Do what you want because I don't care". You will get a "Raised Eyebrow Go Ahead" in just a few minutes, followed by "Nothing" and "Fine" and she will talk to you in about "Five Minutes" when she cools off.

"I want every man to lie on his back, put his legs in the air and move them as though he were riding a bicycle," he explained. "Now begin!" After a few minutes, one of the men stopped. "Why did you stop. Smith?" demanded the officer. "If you please, sir," said Smith, "I'm freewheeling for a while."

<Soft Sigh> - Again, not a word, but a non-verbal statement. "Soft Sighs" mean that she is content. Your best bet is to not move or breathe, and she will stay content. That's Okay - This is one of the most dangerous statements that a woman can make to a man. "That's Okay" means that she wants to think long and hard before paying you back for whatever it is that you have done. "That's Okay" is often used with the word "Fine" and in conjunction with a "Raised Eyebrow". Please Do - This is not a statement, it is an offer. A woman is giving you the chance to come up with whatever excuse or reason you have for doing whatever it is that you have done. You have a fair chance with the truth, so be careful and you shouldn't get a "That's Okay". Thanks - A woman is thanking you. Do not faint. Just say "You're welcome".

<Loud Sigh> - This is not actually a word, but is a non-verbal statement often misunderstood by men. A "Loud Sigh" means she thinks you are an idiot at that moment,

Thanks A Lot - This is much different from "Thanks". A woman will say "Thanks A Lot" when she is really ticked off at you. It signifies that you have offended her in some callous way, and will be followed by the "Loud Sigh". Be careful not to ask what is wrong after the "Loud Sigh" as she will only tell you "Nothing".

Good News and Bad News

you have about two years left.

This old man visits his doctor and after a thorough examination, the doctor tells him, "I have good news and bad news, what would you like to hear first?"

Patient: That's terrible! In two years, my life will be over! What kind of good news could you probably tell me, after this?

Patient: Well, give me the bad news first. Doctor: You have cancer, I estimate that

The physical training instructor was drilling a platoon of soldiers.

and wonders why she is wasting her time standing here and arguing with you over "Nothing".

Tardy Student A college business professor could not help but notice that one of his students was late to class for the third time that week. Before class ended he went around the room asking students some questions about the day's lecture. Of course, he made sure to pick on his tardy pupil.

Doctor: You also have Alzheimer's. In about three months you are going to forget everything I told you. "And who was it that developed the theories behind communism?" the professor asked. "I don't know," the student said. "Perhaps if you came to class on time, Mr. Reebs, you would know," said the professor. "That's not true," the student replied. "I never pay attention anyway!"

Dumb..but true!

British firefighters say they saved an apartment from destruction after its domestically challenged resident tried to dry his wet socks and underwear in a microwave oven. The Dorset Fire and Rescue Service says firefighters rescued the man from his home and extinguished the kitchen blaze Monday.

The fire destroyed the appliance along with the two pairs of underwear and socks inside it, and caused smoke damage to the apartment in Weymouth, a town on England's southwest coast. "The fire safety message here is to never put clothing of any kind in the microwave or an oven to attempt to dry them," the Dorset firefighters said in a statement.

Austin Sparks may not be a good criminal, but he shows signs of being a good human being. After breaking into five cars and stealing a Ford F-250 truck, Sparks, 20, felt so guilty about what he had done that he drove the stolen truck to police headquarters in Mt. Juliet, Tenn., and turned himself in to authorities, UPI.com reported. "He walked in and told me that he had just stolen a car and it's parked out front," Kinnie Long, a clerk at the station told The Tennessean. "It was shocking. He even stated that he felt bad for what he had done."

Sgt. Tyler Chandler not only appreciated Sparks' honesty after the fact, but that he drove the truck to the station and parked it outside. "It saved a lot of resources, it saved a lot of time for the victims, they'll get their stuff back," Chandler told WTVF-TV. "I can't remember anytime that that has happened." Sparks has been booked into the Wilson County jail, where he is being held for Mt. Pleasant authorities. All of the stolen items -which include at least one Blackberry - will be returned to their owners.

Ohio woman Tamala Grissett, 29, was charged with obstructing official business after she allegedly faked labor pains to avoid arrest, WKRC reports. Police originally tracked Grissett down after she reportedly swiped $1,297 in goods from a local Macy's, according to Fox-19. When they attempted to make the arrest, officers say the woman gave them a fake driver's license. After police succeeded in confirming her real identity, Gris-

sett allegedly threatened to kill one of the officers and file a false abuse complaint against him. When the officers were not deterred from making the arrest, the suspect told them she was in pain and experiencing pregnancy complications. Police transported Grissett to a nearby hospital, but once there, she made a run for it. Cops soon recaptured her and booked her into the Hamilton County Justice Center.
