VET CONFESSES BY ALEX TRELINSKI

A

Benijófar vet has accepted a 10 year jail term after he admitted to killing his wife by injecting anesthetic drugs into her because "she did not want to live anymore". 50-year-old Marcelo G (in a file picture from 2013), then chopped up the body at the Pet Care Veterinary Clinic in the town and had it burnt at a pet crematorium. Prosecutors had called for a 15-year-jail term on a count of homicide, but agreed in a plea deal to cut the sentence, since the vet had already served four years in custody. Since the body was incinerated, pros-

A

ecutors used the term that Marcelo G had killed his wife "using unknown instruments and procedures". Marcelo G told the court if he had not taken the life of his wife through drugs, she "would have done it in a more bloody way herself", as he claimed she had attempted suicide previously. At the start of the trial in the Alicante Provincial Court in Elche, Marcelo G, confessed to killing his 45-yearold wife, who also worked at his clinic, after giving two previous contradictory statements. He firstly told the Guardia Civil that she had committed suicide by taking

an overdose, but last year changed his statement to say that he had been performing stomach reducing surgery on her but the procedure went wrong, and she died. Defence solicitor Javier Caballero said that he totally believed in the innocence of his client, and that he had to follow his instructions that he had taken his wife's life. He claimed that she had morally blackmailed Marcelo G with the threat of suicide if he did not perform the stomach surgery that she wanted. "He did not get any benefit from his wife's death", said Caballero in court. "If a client asks me what would happen

to him if he killed his wife, I tell them not to do it and just go for a divorce which would cost around 2,300 euro". Caballero added that Marcelo G kept her remains in plastic bags in the back of his car, because he feared being struck off as a vet. A few days later, he took her body for incineration claiming that it was a big dog, with the ashes then spread around in various locations. The story shocked the local community as Marcelo G, his wife, and two children were popular in the area, with the veterinary practice attracting many British customers.

BRITISH ASSAULT

63-year-old British man is set to be charged with trying to kill a 54-year-old fellow Briton, with the initials S.A.M, at his Orihuela Costa home on Sunday night, after they had a row in a local bar. Details are sparse, short of the fact that Orihuela local police made an arrest at around 11.30 pm outside the 54-year-old’s home on Calle Cantabria on the Playa Golf urbanisation, Lomas de Cabo Roig, after heated

words had been exchanged between the two British men earlier in the evening. The police say that the 63year-old wanted to pursue the matter further, and assaulted the younger man in the street with an array of knives and a starting pistol amongst his weapons of choice. Authorities said that the victim suffered a stab-wound to his left collar bone and was taken to Torrevieja

Hospital for emergency treatment, before being

transferred to the Intensive Care Unit.

One point six million euro is to be handed out by the Valencian Government to repair January’s storm damage that hit beaches across Alicante Province. Francesc Colomer of Valencia’s Tourist Authority says that the money will be distributed as soon as possible to help repair infrastructures like paths, footbridges, water collection

systems, waste bins, and play areas and related equipment. An inventory has been carried out by regional technicians in Elche, Santa Pola, Guardamar, Torrevieja, Orihuela and Pilar de la Horadada, with Colomer saying that it’s important that beaches are ready to welcome tourists from the Easter period.

Killer Blast

Keep It Open! Demonstrators have protested at San Javier airport over plans to close the facility down once the new Corvera airport is eventually opened. The protest was initially planned for February 10th, but had to be postponed because appropriate documents had not been submitted to the Murcia government before the necessary deadline. Organisers claimed that around 400 people took part in the protest showing concern that over 500 jobs directly and indirectly connected with the airport may be lost once the move to Corvera happens. The protest group said that San Javier is one of the most profitable for the airport operator AENA. Meanwhile, the timetable for the switch to Corvera continues to be shrouded

in mystery. Murcia’s regional works and development minister Pedro Rivera last weeky said that AENA had agreed to close their operations at San Javier when Corvera eventually opens, but reports in the press suggest that this not the case, with AENA standing firm on claiming 35 million euro of compensation. Part of that sum includes the cost of a runway that was

put down at San Javier in 2011, despite the fact that Corvera was being built. Ironically AENA is said to be one of the likely bidders for the Corvera operating franchise, which is set to be tendered soon according to Rivera, who insisted that a full deal involving the closure of San Javier is set to be signed soon by the Murcia government and AENA.

A gas explosion in a Santa Pola flat killed one man and caused a fire which caused damage to three storeys of an apartment block on Calle Almansa on Saturday evening. The blast was caused by a butano gas cylinder, and follows a similar incident a few weeks ago in La Zenia, though in that case, the elderly resident was only slightly injured. Nobody else was inside the three-storey Santa Pola building, close to the seafront in the Gran Playa area of the town, though

municipal surveyors confirmed that that there was no structural damage. Four fire engines from Elche and a mobile intensive care unit rushed to the scene, but a 45-year-old man originally from Cuenca, died instantly in the blast. His neighbours rushed to his aid when they heard him shouting for help, even trying to climb into his first-floor flat by standing on parked cars and to kick the door down from the outside, but were beaten back by the flames and smoke.

The National Police have arrested a 14-year-old boy who is accused of bullying a schoolgirl, not just in the classroom, but also outside the school and even at the victim's own home. The location was only specified as being somewhere within the Valencia region. Three other boys aged 14 and 15 are also being investigated over a constant series of threats and actions against the girl, which start-

ed in October 2015. The victim was regularly physically and verbally insulted by the group and it got to the stage when she was followed and insulted at weekends, with eggs hurled at her window on one occasion. The girl's parents only found out what was going on when she refused to go to school, as she suffered from depression and anxiety. They then filed a complaint with the National Police.

32 protected animal species were discovered in Torrevieja last year according to the council's environment councillor, Fanny Serrano. Most prominent of the finds was a Royal Python that was probably abandoned having been kept as a pet, and was discovered by Guardia Civil agents in the IES Mediterráneo urbanisation. 24 Birds, including owls and an eagle, dominated the list.

Costly Proposal

A plan to stop flooding on the Orihuela Costa caused by heavy storms has been produced by water company Hidraqua, but Orihuela council can’t afford to pay for it. A 12-strong set of proposals was unveiled this week at a presentation involving Hidraqua and

council officials, with Orihuela infrastructure councillor, Juan Ignacio López-Bas, saying that the work could cost up to 22 million euro, and that the authority would have to get regional, state, and European funding for the repair work to become a reality.

Mosca Move

The European Parliament’s Petitions committee is to write to the Valencian Government to make sure that planning permission for homes to be built on Cala Mosca on the Orihuela Costa are within appropriate regulations. The body will also check that all environmental impact reports are acted upon by the builder, but these moves fall short of throwing a spanner in the works to stop the project altogether. Local politicians (pictured in Brussels) Marta Guillén

(Cambiemos Orihuela) and Bob Houliston (CLARO) went to the Petitions committee meeting on Tuesday, where they appealed for action to be taken over the controversial plans for a 1,500 home development at Cala Mosca, which they claim would destroy an area of key environmental importance. Meanwhile, Orihuela Costa-based neighbourhood groups have called for a demonstration at Playa Flamenca promenade this Sunday morning against the Cala Mosca plans.

Suicide Claim

The plan budgets out three and a half million euro to deal with flooding in La Zenia and a similar sum for Playa Flanenca, whilst at the other end of the scale, 63 thousand euro is required, according to Hidraqua, to make improvements in the Mil Palmeras area.

Kennel Raid

A dog-breeding facility which operated without the required licenses has been raided in Crevillente by the Guardia Civil's environment division, Seprona. 30 adult dogs and puppies were discovered, with many of the animals lacking appropriate documentation, microchips and vaccinations.

86-year-old Ronald Stenning, who is suspected of stabbing his wife to death at an El Campello retirement home on Sunday February 19th, will be remanded in jail after being questioned in San Juan University Hospital in Alicante last Friday. Stenning is understood to have claimed that his wife Margaret, 79, killed herself by slashing her own throat. He told the unnamed female investigating judge that they were suffering from failing health and they had spoken several times about ending their own lives when they were incapable of looking after each other. He added

that such suicide pacts were "common" back in the UK. Her body was found by a cleaner, with Mr.Stenning lying close to her with knife wounds to his neck. Their daughter, who would frequently fly out to visit them, told the judge that they were a loving couple and they there was no history of any violence between them. The prison order will take effect once Mr.Stenning is deemed to be fit enough to be taken to jail. No formal charges as yet have been laid down, and Mr.Stenning is expected to be given a series of psychiatric tests at the request of his solicitor.

Close To Home

A recent routine vehicle stop in San Miguel de Salinas by the Guardia Civil just a few metres from their barracks netted 21 kilos of marijuana. The drugs could easily be spotted inside the car, as they were not even stashed away in the boot.

The Guardia were operating on the main road through the town, Calle 19 de Abril, when they discovered the drugs in four big plastic bags, with a market value of around 80 thousand euro. No details of any arrests wave been disclosed.

Cracking Tower

A local group says that cracks and deterioration at a Torrevieja area landmark are getting worse, and that the council hasn't done anything about it. La Plataforma Independiente Matera (PIM) has called for urgent work on the Torre del Embarcadero in La Mata, with PIM secretary José Pérez stressing that the state of the structure needs to be addressed immediately.

Return To Sender Five men have been arrested for running a "mailorder" drugs service out of Alicante Province with clients in the UK as well as Holland and Germany getting postal deliveries of marijuana. The gang, aged between 31 and 58 were of Irish, Dutch, Moroccan, and Spanish nationality and were arrested in a joint operation between the Guardia Civil and the National Police in Crevillente as well as in the Alicante City area. 44 kilos of marijuana in plastic bags were recovered, along with a raid on a clandestine marijuana farm in the Crevillente area which uncovered over a thousand plants.

Floor Clause Talk On Friday the 10th March, at 12.00, the San Miguel Councillor, Maria Jose Costa Medrano, will be hosting an informative talk about the “Floor Clause” at the Las Filipinas Social Centre. The talk has been arranged by San Miguel town hall to try to help clear up some of the confusion caused by the legislation which can financially benefit those affected. The free talk is open to all residents and may well be of huge benefit to those who could be able to claim back thousands after the European Court ordered banks to hand back money to clients, with total pay outs set to run into billions from their “unfair” mortgage floor clauses.

Pilar Investment

The company that runs waste collection and road cleaning services in Pilar de la Horadada has announced a three point three million euro investment to buy new vehicles and machinery. STV Gestió have a new 10 year franchise with the municipality, and have now committed to replace their fleet and associated equipment. Pilar mayor, Ignacio Ramos, said that it was a major investment by a company, who have already been running the service for a decade in the area.

Dog Fighters Held

Five people have been arrested in the Almoradi, Rojales, and Crevillente areas for being involved in a nationwide ring that staged illegal dog fights. The dogs were drugged to make them more agressive, with the National Police saying that 230 animals were saved from death across the country including the Canary Islands, Madrid and the Murcia region, with 56 dogs rescued in Alicante Province. A total of 34 people were arrested in an operation that was sparked by a tip-off from an animal protection society about illegal dog fights in the Madrid area, and the investigation led to the

discovery of an organisation organising illegal fights as part of a 'national circuit' with headquarters in different Spanish provinces. “'Dogs who had survived the national circuit were taken to fights abroad in countries like the Arab Emirates, Thailand and Mexico”, said a National Police spokesman. “The dogs used in the fights were submitted to extreme training and forced cross-breeding, as well as being injected with steroids to make them more powerful and aggressive.” The rescued dogs have now been handed over into the care of animal welfare groups.

Lots Of Brits

Falling exchange rates and Brexit fears do not seem to be bothering UK tourists coming to the Costa Blanca, according to latest figures from the National Statistics Institute. On the back of a record 2016 for foreign tourism, the January returns show a massive 32 percent hike

in the number of British visitors coming to the Costa Blanca, compared to a year earlier, according to the figures. The statistics for the first month of the year saw 401 thousand foreign visitors coming to the region, an overall rise over 12 months of 26 percent. UK tourists accounted for 128

thousand of the figure, with French visitors second at 66 thousand. Murcia’s foreign visitors in January leapt up by 35 percent over a year, with 15 thousand British visitors accounting for 37 percent of the overall figure, some 11 percent more compared to January 2016.

Footing The Bill

Taken Down

The oldest castle in Alicante Province, at Callosa, has once again been vandalised with slogans painted on the wall. The castle, which dates back to the year 924, had been daubed with graffitti in November 2015, with the Callosa council reporting the new incident to the Ministry of Culture and Heritage, as well as appealing to local residents to come forward with any information that could identify the culprits.

A dozen commemorative plaques featuring the name of ex-San Fulgencio mayor, Trinidad Martinez, and former independent councillor Mariano Marti have been removed from municipal buildings in the area. The disgraced socialistPSOE mayor was given a 17-month jail sentence for corruption and banned from public office for nine years back in 2015 over the building of eight apartment blocks

on the La Marina urbanisation, which were built on land that had been designated for sports accommodation. Current Partido Popular mayor, Carlos Ramírez, is himself facing a corruption hearing later this year, and said that he was following regional Valencian government policy on removing the names of corrupt politicians from plaques erected on public buildings.

December's storms caused 3.4 million euro of damage to Orihuela City and the surrounding villages according to Orihuela council. Infrastructure councillor Juan Ignacio López-Bas and Emergencies councillor Víctor Valverde have pre-

sented a report outlining the devastation caused to local roads, buildings, and facilities, which has been produced by council officials. The document is being sent to the Valencian Government with a call for them to subsidise the bill for

any necessary repairs, along with a request to the Interior Ministry in Madrid. The councillors added that the three point four million euro figure did not take into account damage done to local farms or private housing.

False Impression Forged paintings by artists from the Valencian and Catalan modernist era have been seized by authorities, after their buyers discovered they bought a bunch of fakes worth around 100 thousand euro. More Than Beaches

"There's a lot more to the Vega Baja area than just beaches" is the message that local councils are saying in a new move to attract more tourists to explore the inland attractions of the area when they come on holiday. Orihuela council hosted a meeting of representatives of 27 councils which included Torrevieja, Pilar de la Motorists in Alicante Province lost over 60 thousand points on their driving licenses in 2015, an increase of six thousand compared to 2014, according to the latest figures compiled by the traffic authority, DGT. The illegal use of mobile phones has gone up, with the rising figure also attributed to the greater number of speed traps set up by the Guardia Civil on key black spots roads and close to schools.

Men Of Hate Two San Javier brothers aged in their early thirties have been arrested by the Guardia Civil for race crimes, after inciting hatred against Jews. The men are said to be behind anti- Jewish demonstrations in recent years in San Javier and Cartagena, as well as being involved in flag-burning incidents. They are also alleged to have used social media to promote their views with their profiles praising Adolf Hitler and supporting terrorist organisations like Islamic State.

The Party’s Over

The ex-boss of the International Monetary Fund chief Rodrigo Rato has been sentenced to four-and-a-half years in jail for misusing corporate credit cards while in charge of two leading Spanish banks at the height of the country’s financial crisis. Rato, a former economy minister and deputy prime minister, was found guilty of embezzlement at the end of a five-month trial at the national court. He had been on trial with 64 other former executives and board members from the Caja Madrid and Bankia banks, whose

near collapse sparked an EU bailout of Spain’s financial sector. The defendants had been accused of spending a total of 12 million euros between 2003 and 2012, using “black credit cards” to pay for hotels, parties and luxury goods. Prosecutors had claimed the executives used the cards issued to them by Caja Madrid and Bankia without declaring them to tax authorities. Rato is to appeal against the verdict and sentence, which means that for the time being, he is still a free man.

The Secret Of Purring

KODI Kodi is a young beautiful Podenco dog who was wandering for some time before he was caught by some kind dog lovers. Kodi is a gentle soul, who gets on very well with other dogs and cats, and is clean and very easy to look after. He walks very well on the lead and is very affectionate. For more details on this lovely boy, please call PEPA on 650 304 746 or email p.e.p.a.animalcharity@gmail.com

Cats are evolutionary masterpieces of design. They have evolved in such a way that many of their characteristics, including their behaviour, are multifunctional — helping to increase the odds of survival. Scratching marks territories, it communicates conflicted feelings and it maintains nail health. Whiskers feel wind directions, broadcast moods, and help cats navigate. Purring helps newborns survive, promotes healing, and is a communication tool. WHAT CAUSES PURRING?

LADY Lady followed someone home who was out walking their dog, she just didn´t want to leave them. Sadly she had no microchip and has been staying at the SAT kennels. Lady is a one-year-old Podenco cross who loves to play and loves lots of affection. She is a gentle dog that is very easy to walk and will make a very loving, fun companion for any family. For more on Lady please call 966 710 047 or email info@satanimalrescue.com

LOUIE Louie is a mastiff and a real gentle giant. He is loveable and likes a good belly rub and appears to have been well looked after, but no microchip has been found. He is well house- trained, is very good on a lead and also when left to roam freely within boundaries. He would make an excellent family dog. If you are able to give Louie a home, then please call K9 on 600 845 420.

ROBBIE

Robbie is a tiny little boy that needs a very special home. He is around five-years- old and was that desperate to be rescued he jumped into a ladies car at a petrol station. Robbie has an irregular heartbeat which causes mini fits but is still a very active, happy boy. He is good with other dogs, vaccinated, chipped and weighs four kilos. For more details, call Pets in Spain on 645 469 253. www.petsinspain.com

There are a few theories about the anatomy of cat purrs. The one that stands up the strongest states that purrs are produced through a combination of the laryngeal and diaphragmatic muscles along with a neural oscillator. This theory makes sense, because when cats suffer from laryngeal paralysis, they cannot purr. A second theory claims that the small hyoid bone is responsible for purrs. The hyoid bone is located between the skull and the larynx. Another theory states that purrs initiate from the central nervous system. PRIMAL PURRING Purring is vital for the survival of newborn kittens. The little ones are welcomed into the world by the soft vibrations of their mum’s purr. They are born deaf and blind, but they do feel vibrations. These sweet vibrations are perfect homing devices, guiding newborns to the protective warmth of mum’s body and to their first meals. Kittens start communicating back to mum and their siblings through purrs. They start purring when they are two days old. When kittens nurse, they cannot meow, so they show their contentment by purring. Mum purrs back comfort and safety. There is another way primal purring ups the odds for survival. Purring helps keep neonates safe from predators. Hungry predators are more likely to detect cries and other vocalisations than the vibrations of purrs. Cat mums purr when they give birth. In addition to benefitting kittens, purring helps the mothers in a number of ways. The new mums are vulnerable and cannot defend themselves when they are giving birth. Painful cries attract danger. reducing pain while simultaneously reassuring the newborns without luring unwanted visitors. EVERYONE BENEFITS FROM PURRING Cat parents are familiar with the relaxing purrs of cats as they cuddle and stroke them. These little purr machines exude contentment, with the added benefit of uplifting the moods of the people who adore them while lowering their blood pressure. Many kitties quickly figure out another basic benefit of purring — soliciting food and attention from their favourite people. Since most cat-parents lavish attention on their cats when they purr, cats often purr when they want affection and treats. HEALING POWER Not all purrs are purrs of contentment. Cats will purr when they are stressed, in pain, or severely ill. Often, cats at the end of life will purr. Cats enter life and leave life on a purr. What makes a purr a purr has tickled the curiosity of the scientific community for years. Studies find that purrs oscillate at a low frequency of 25 to 100 HZ. These frequencies promote bone healing and ease muscle pain. Clinical trials of people receiving ultrasound treatments have proven that low-frequency/intensity ultrasound accelerates healing in fractures. Purrs reassure and soothe, they promote healing, and reduce pain. There are also reports that cats heal faster than other animals that do not purr, and that purring releases endorphins. Endorphins reduce pain while healing takes place. Purring is the feline equivalent of expensive ultrasound treatments, but without the medical bills. EXERCISE It is hard to imagine that relaxed, purring cats are in the midst of low-intensity exercise sessions, but some experts believe that the vibrations from purring may stimulate muscles and bones without the cat extending a lot of energy and effort. Something for you to think about the next time you cuddle with your little purr-machine. Looks are deceiving — in reality, she or he might be heavily engaged in calisthenics!

Why the fuss about 360 virtual tours? We don´t need to panic and buy virtual reality headsets (you only have to look in the secondhand shops to see how many have already been hung out to dry), we just need to be aware of the differences between the technology available and what we can actually use. Facebook now accepts 360º images and video, Twitter is following on. Websites can also use third-party applications to display these tours to us, without the need for expensive upgrades that won´t actually make a difference. For your business, the advice is simple. That´s it, keep it simple. Because, if you do want a virtual tour like the Quesada Fish and Chips one, or Autos Direct, another one we produced recently, then by keeping it simple means that is is more accessible to a wider audience. You still don´t have to worry though because we can help you. We can guide you all the way to the end production of your presentation. We don´t claim to be Steven Spielberg, why would we. We don´t want to make epic movie, we want to present your product to a wider market. This week, TKO.Media launched a virtual tour of the newly refurbished Quesada Fish and Chips restaurant. The idea of the tour was to showcase the work done by the owners to improve an already popular venue. We also wanted to show how new media such as virtual tours can benefit by being shared through social media, such as Facebook, allowing visitors and clients, both old and new, from anywhere around the world to see exactly what the new restaurant looks like. Within a few days, the post had already reached over 13,000 Facebook users, with over 2,000 of those choosing to click the image and take the tour. Because the tour was shared through Facebook it also allowed for the image to be shared by those who saw it themselves, going "viral" being the popular term. Almost

500 users liked, commented or shared the tour to their friends, hence the widened reach of 13,000 real people. New technology such as virtual tours does have a "gimmick" element to it. Many marketeers are dismissing it as nothing more at the moment, partly because the end user isn´t ready, that´s you and me in other words. Our phones and devices are not yet fully compatible with the developments already available at the technical and production stage, let alone the fact that many of us are still struggling to get to grips with setting the clock on the microwave. However, the future is developing at a faster rate than the end user, but we can now appreciate what was popular perhaps a decade ago, when these sort of virtual tours started t be introduced.

So, let us come and talk to you. You will be surprised how easy the process of getting a virtual tour produced is. It doesn´t take weeks, it doesn´t take lots of equipment, it just takes the knowhow to produce results. Contact us and let us help you. Let´s do business.

Caramelised onion and goats cheese tarte tatin Ingredients: 1.2 kg red onions 25g butter 1 teaspoon caster sugar 2 tsp Goodall’s Dried Thyme 1 tbsp Balsamic Vinegar Salt and pepper to taste 1 roll of ready-made puff pastry 150-200g crumbly Goats Cheese Method: Begin by preparing the onions, which should have skins removed and be cut in half from root to stem. Then place a frying pan with the butter over a medium heat and as soon as the butter begins to sizzle, quickly add in the thyme and arrange the onions with their cut side down. Add salt and pepper to the top of the onions and sprinkle the vinegar over them also. Now turn the heat down on

the pan and leave them simmer for 10 minutes. After the 10 minutes cover with foil and place in an oven preheated to 180°C for 40-50 mins. Once the onions are cooked you can cut out your pastry circle, (the pastry circle should be the size of the pan you are working with) and place over the onions. Take care to tuck in the edges around the onions like a blanket. Place the tarte back in the oven for approx 20-25 minutes or until golden brown. Leave to cool for 5 minutes and then turn out onto a plate. Scatter some Goats cheese over the top if serving immediately or if you make it in advance, it can be reheated in a 150°C oven in around 20 minutes. Scatter the goats cheese just before going to the table.

Yo-yo dieting might actually be good for people even if they end up gaining weight back, expert says

Yo-yo dieting might actually make people healthy, despite the huge amounts of criticism directed towards them, according to an expert. Repeated crash diets might be best compared to going to the dentist, according to US biostatistician David Allison. In the same way, the extreme slimming method ensures that people get healthier – even if they gradually move away from that again. Dr Allison found that in tests on mice, repeated diets didn't seem to do much harm. In fact, those that went on yo-yo diets actually lived longer than those who stayed obese. In keeping with that, Dr Allison said that the technique might actually serve a useful way for many people to keep fit. Dr Allison, from the University of Alabama in Birmingham, said: "If you go the dentist for your six month evaluation, they find there's some plaque around your teeth and scrape it off, and then they give you a toothbrush and piece of string and send you out and say keep up the good work. "And six months later, guess what, the plaque is back on. Just like weight

loss. Nobody says dentistry is a failure. They say that's okay." Speaking at the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) annual meeting in Boston, Massachusetts, he added: "We think it's probably not a bad idea to lose weight even if you are going to gain it back and redo it every few years." Around two in three British adults have body mass indexes (BMIs) that classify them as overweight or obese. Excess weight increases the risk of Type 2 diabetes, liver disease and some cancers. Leading nutritionist Susan Jebb, Professor of Diet and Population Health at Oxford University pointed out that it was better to try losing weight than to do nothing. She said: "I agree with the notion that losing weight is generally worthwhile, even if you put the weight back on again. "We have good evidence from long-term follow up studies after controlled intervention studies in humans that there is a benefit." But Professor Tim Spector, from King's College, London, author of The Diet Myth, spoke out strongly against yo-yo

dieting. He said: "Data in humans shows that yo-yo dieting makes you gain weight long-term. In our twin study of 5,000 twins, the yo-yo dieter was usually heavier long-term than the identical twin who didn't diet." A recent Israeli study in mice had linked yo-yo dieting to a massive change in gut microbe population that permanently altered energy regulation, said Prof Spector. The bugs caused obesity when transplanted into other mice. "So the evidence for me shows crash calorie restriction dieting is to be avoided at all costs," said Prof Spector.Scientists at the meeting also warned that obesity can be socially contagious, so that mingling with people who are putting on weight increases the risk of following their example. Conversely, spending time in the gym with a friend encouraged more healthy behaviour. Dr Allison said: "One way people have thought about manipulating these social networks is through intervention programmes... So you and your buddy come in and get the treatment together."

Are there Scientific Benefits of Meditation? Clinical studies show that people who meditate on a regular basis, have enlarged prefrontal cortex, the part of the brain that controls thinking. Very possibly meditation also offsets the mental decline that occurs with age as well as helping to reduce the risk of brain diseases such as Alzheimer's. There is evidence showing that controlling the mind through meditation increases mental strength, resilience, and emotional intelligence. Long-term meditation increases grey matter density in the areas of the brain involved with memory, learning, self-awareness, compassion, and introspection. Researchers from Nottingham Trent University UK reported that when participants with stress and depressed mood underwent meditation, they experienced improvement in psychological well-being. In another study, participants that underwent several months of meditation noticed that they had better control over distributing mental resources. A published study in the journal of Brain, Behaviour, and Immunity, found that 30 mins of meditation daily not only reduces the sense of loneliness but also reduces the risk of heart disease, depression, Alzheimer’s and premature death. Meditation is the process of emptying the mind of thoughts. The mind is active all through the wakeful state and continually processes information from the present, past and future. However, when this activity becomes uncontrollable, it becomes a source of stress and eventually diseases, and meditation offers a way to reduce the chatter and relax the mind. Uncontrollable thoughts are a primary source of sleep deprivation, anxiety, and tension. Long term stress and anxiety will eventually lead to diseases especially of the nervous and immune system. There are many different meditation techniques; nevertheless, they all aim for the same goal of quieting the mind and relaxing the body. There is evidence that meditation benefits the mind and brain and relieves some disorders of the brain. Practitioners of meditation report an increase in focus and concentration. When the body is tense, the brain fires at a higher frequency, and although the brain can function at this speed, it performs better at a slower speed. Meditation also helps depression. Sometimes depression is caused by a persistent pattern of thoughts with no break in sight and meditation breaks this cycle of negative thoughts.

Step counting apps probably make people less healthy, leading computer scientist says Step counting apps might be not only a waste of time but a dangerous one, according to one expert. The fitness apps might be doing more harm than good because they don't work but force people to focus on ambitious goals that they will never reach, according to a leading computer scientist. "Very few" of the roughly 165,000 healthcare apps are actually based on any scientific evidence, said Dr Greg Hager, from Johns Hopkins University in the US. But they have been downloaded more than a billion times by people looking to improve their health. A range of app and their dedicated hardware – like FitBits – have taken off in recent years.

Dr Hager singled out those apps that encourage people to reach 10,000 steps, specifically, arguing that there was no sense in the minimum limit. Speaking at the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) annual meeting in Boston, he said: "Some of you might wear Fitbits or something equivalent, and I bet every now and then it gives you that cool little message 'you did 10,000 steps today'. "But why is 10,000 steps important? What's big about 10,000? "Turns out in 1960 in Japan they figured out that the average Japanese man, when he walked 10,000 steps a day burned something like 3,000 calories and that is what they thought the average person should consume so they picked 10,000 steps as a number. "But is that the right number for any of you in this room? Who knows? It's just a number that's now built into the apps." A survey of several hundred mental health apps used for coaching and diagnosis found only five that could be linked to an evidence base, he said. None of those were available to the public, they were all research tools. Dr Hager added: "I think apps could definitely be doing more harm than good. I am sure that these apps are causing problems. "Without any scientific

evidence base, how do you know that any of these apps are good for you? They may even be harmful. "The 10,000 steps example typifies the problem in many ways. "We all know that probably the more you exercise, the better it is for you. But if you are elderly or infirm then this is not going to be good for you."

When ‘Nude’ Is Only Nude for Some People Clothing designers are grappling with the challenge of an increasingly popular, yet racially problematic, style.

Nudity is en vogue these days. Shoppers are clamoring for nude swimsuits, nude lingerie, and nude designer clothes. It’s a simple yet edgy look for those bold enough to suggest they’re baring it all, and tolerant enough to endure the occasional double-take.

the Graduate Centre of the City University of New York. Wissinger, who’s done extensive research on diversity within the industry, says fashion has begun to acknowledge alternative body types and complexions, but its attachment to narrow traditions suggests it will take a long time.

Yet for some, nude simply means beige. Or perhaps some lighter shade of tan. The problem with this particular colour label is that, more often than not, “nude” is only nude if you happen to be white.

“Fashion claims to be nimble and responsive and on the cutting edge,” said Wissinger. But “there are also such long cultural echoes of what’s deemed fashionable, so there’s this subconscious background of calling it ‘nude.’”

As the style has become increasingly popular, this retail conundrum is gaining attention. Some are now challenging the industry norm, jettisoning the interchangeability of “nude” and “beige” and producing clothing that matches the flesh of everyone. “Finally, the fashion and beauty industries are catching up,” said Katie May Atkinson, an analyst at trend forecasting firm WGSN, “but it’s been a long time coming.” Why did it take so long? Pairing skin tone to clothes was a hot trend in the late 2000s, with couture designers walking light brown looks down runways, albeit on white models. Nude pumps gained a bigger following; so did nude nail polish. Then one night in 2010, Michelle Obama wore a strapless beige evening gown to a state dinner—a gown whose colour was described as “nude.” Not so much. Fashion’s issues with colour are born of a longstanding, racially insensitive beauty standard, said Elizabeth Wissinger, a professor of fashion studies at

The concept of nude-as-a-colour was challenged a long time ago, just not in fashion. Crayola, the crayon maker (now owned by Hallmark Cards Inc.) once made a pinkish beige colour called “flesh.” The tone was renamed “peach” in the 1960s, when exclusionary references began to unwind in the face of the civil rights movement. One definition of nude in the Oxford Dictionary was “of a pinkish-beige colour,” though another states that nude is “denoting or relating to clothing or makeup that is of a colour resembling that of the wearer’s skin.” Until 2015, when a college student successfully petitioned Merriam-Webster, that dictionary defined nude as “having the colour of a white person’s skin.” This is the definition now in its place: having a color (as pale beige or tan) that matches the wearer’s skin tones <nudepantyhose> <nude lipstick> (2) : giving the appearance of nudity <a nude dress> The beauty industry, meanwhile, has been miles

ahead of fashion in catering to women with darker skin. Women of colour have more choices than ever thanks to labels such as Bobbi Brown and MAC, providing an inclusive set of swatches for their customers. Bobbi Brown’s nude finishing illuminating powder, for instance, comes in six different sets, spanning “porcelain” to “rich.” Yet on the catwalk, there’s been little evidence of the nude rainbow. One notable exception is the label of performer Kanye West, whose inclusion of many tones on multi-ethnic models has created some buzz around the word’s budding redefinition. And yes, the Kardashian pack has played a role too, with the never-shy Kim in the lead role of nude hue pitchwoman. She’s worn looks from nude bikinis to nude blouses and skirts. To be sure, there are some fashion brands that have joined in. Nubian Skin was the first, with a line of lingerie that’s available in plenty of dark brown shades. BeingU, Nudest, and BrownBottims also sell underwear in lots of hues. A new U.K. shoe brand called Kahmune offers 10 separate shades of high heels to match skin tones. Nunude is a label that sells tracksuits and lounge wear with the hopes of redefining nude. And Christian Louboutin, maker of the iconic red-soled shoes, has expanded the colour range of his nude ballet flats and pumps. “I’ve always done a nude shoe but only using the colour beige,” Louboutin, the designer, said at the time. But he decided to change things when one of his staffers told him flatly: “Beige is not the colour of my skin.”

Benicàssim

Benicàssim, an increasingly popular coastal town located on the Costa del Azahar (orange blossom coast), in the province of Castellón, is still perhaps one of those places that you may have heard of but have never thought to visit. This historic and picturesque town sits 12km from Castellón, 75km from Valencia and around 250km from Alicante and has approximately 17,000 inhabitants. In the late 1800’s, Benicàssim comparably started the trend of holidaying by the sea, making it one of the first tourist hotspots in Spain. Nowadays, it is still a very popular resort with Spanish holidaymakers, yet only now is it becoming increasingly favoured by the international tourist. Benicàssim has much to offer all types of visitor, with its mountain backdrop, sandy beaches and historic yet lively town centre. However, it is now becoming most well known, particularly amongst the younger generation, as hosting one of the biggest music festivals in Europe – the FIB (Festival of International Independent Music in Benicàssim) – a fiveday event staging some of the biggest bands and performers in the music industry. During the month of July, thousands of festival-goers descend on Benicàssim for several days of partying, good music and generally an unforgettable experience in the sun. The actual town of Benicàssim is fairly small and mainly consists of one long road with numerous back streets and quaint alleyways leading off from it. It was originally built around the Saint Thomas of Villanueva Church, which was constructed between 1769 and 1776. Now, this area is known as the “old quarter”, due to its rich, old-style architecture and narrow streets. The main high street, Avenida Santo Tomas, has an array of small boutiques, hotels, bars, shops and restaurants. One of the most striking things about the whole area is the number of trees, flowers and greenery, not to mention the cleanliness of the place. Located on a beautiful part of the Mediterranean coast, not only is Benicàssim a sunbather’s paradise, with its 7km stretch of beautiful, blue flag beaches, it is also sheltered by the Las Palmas mountains, an area home to the protected nature park, the “Desierto de las Palmas”, 3200 hectares of exceptional scenic beauty. There are five main beaches in the Benicàssim region, starting with Voramar in the north, followed by Almadraba, Torre San Vicent, Els Terrers and finally Heliópolis beach, which is furthest south. Hotel Voramar dates back to 1930 and is one of the few hotels to be built on the beach. What was originally a bathing house and cafeteria-restaurant, is now a modern three-storey hotel designed in a colonial style, replicating the form of other villas located on the beach front. The hotel has been in the Pallarés family since it was first constructed, even when it functioned as a hospital during the Civil War. First it was used as a refuge for injured members of the left-wing International Brigade after the Battle of Teruel, and then to house General Franco’s supporters a year later, when Benicàssim was taken by the right-wing Nationalists. Hotel Voramar is the starting place for the “Ruta de las Villas” (The Villa Route), a walk along the Paseo Marítimo of the Voramar, Almadraba and Torre San Vicent beaches. Along this splendid avenue sit numerous stately villas that were previously built and owned by the wealthiest bourgeois

families from Castellón and Valencia. For this reason the area gradually became known as the “Biarritz” of the Levante, due to the grandeur and exuberant architectural structures. For mountain or nature lovers, a visit to the Desierto de las Palmas is essential. At an altitude of 729m, the Bartolo peak of the San Miguel Mountain holds breathtaking views and on a clear day, it is said that you can see the top of the Montgo Mountain in Alicante. The Order of the barefoot Carmelite monks chose this peaceful, mountainous setting to build their first monastery during the seventeenth century. Due to a period of disastrous weather and torrential rains the monastery was destroyed and the monks were forced to move their home to a more protected site within the “desierto” in 1783, although the ruins of the first site still remain to this day The new monastery is not so high up at 459m, and is well hidden and sheltered from the harsh weather and from the bustling life of the town. It contains a small art museum with an important collection of books, documents and archives of great historical value, which visitors are shown during the guided tours given by the monks. The tours take place at 12pm on Monday to Saturday to groups with a minimum of 12 people. The origin of the name of the natural park – “El Desierto” has absolutely nothing to do with it formerly being a desert

or its geography. The monks referred to these solitary, silent and spiritual places as “deserts” and they would often retreat to these areas to read, pray, write or contemplate. One of the ways in which the Carmelite monks used to make a living was by manufacturing wines and liqueurs. Their famous “Licor Carmelitano” (Carmelite Liqueur) is still produced today at the monk’s distillery, which is now found at the top of the High St., although previously it was located in the monastery in the “Desierto de las Palmas”. The monks sold their “Bodegas Carmelitanas” to a private company in the 1960’s, and surprisingly, this company still adheres to the monk’s traditions of liqueur manufacturing and even follows their secret recipes that combine seeds, roots and aromatic herbs, all of which are found growing in the “Desierto”. Entrance to the “Bodegas” is 2 euros and this includes a guided tour and sampling of the many wines, brandies and liqueurs made there. There are many other fantastic sites and places to visit in Benicàssim, not to mention plenty of land and water sports to try out. The restaurants are superb and great value for money and it is rare to dine out and not enjoy your meal. With so many activities for visitors of all ages, a variety of indoor and outdoor pursuits on offer and accommodation from campsites to five-star luxury hotels, Benicàssim makes an ideal holiday destination for everyone.

INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY In America, March is Women’s History Month, which grew out of a weeklong celebration of women’s contributions to culture, history and society organised by the school district of Sonoma, California, in 1978. Presentations were given at dozens of schools, hundreds of students participated in a “Real Woman” essay contest and a parade was held in downtown Santa Rosa. International Women’s Day, a global celebration of the economic, political and social achievements of women, took place for the first time on March 8, 1911. Many countries around the world celebrate the holiday with demonstrations, educational initiatives and customs such as presenting women with gifts and flowers. The United Nations has sponsored International Women’s Day since 1975. When adopting its resolution on the observance of International Women’s Day, the United Nations General Assembly cited the following reasons: “To recognize the fact that securing peace and social progress and the full enjoyment of human rights and fundamental freedoms require the active participation, equality and development of women; and to acknowledge the contribution of women to the strengthening of international peace and security.” In Spain, most local town halls have events surrounding the date. We have a selection of some of those events in the guide above, but check with your local office or tourist information centre for events close to you.

TRELI ON THE TELLY WITH ALEX TRELINSKI

It didn’t even take me five minutes on Monday night to work out that ITV’s Broadchurch was bang back on form for the start of the third and last series. It was all there with the great pairing of Detectives Hardy and Miller, wonderfully executed by David Tennant and Olivia Colman, and a superb performance by Julie Hesmondhalgh as a rape victim. She didn’t have to say anything as you just watched the pain and expressions on her face, but is there more in all of this than meets the eye? What was so good about this opener was that we were back to Broadchurch basics as opposed to loads of confusing sub-plots in series two that made it somewhat boring until the last two episodes. Also we got a lot more of Hardy and Miller along with some Latimerstyle connections to the previous two seasons, and glimpses of new cast members like Lenny Henry. I can’t wait for the rest of this series, which is certainly the feeling that I didn’t have at the start of series two. As an

Brilliant Broadchurch

aside, with Broadchurch creator/writer/boss Chris Chibnall now moving onto his new project of running Doctor Who, and amidst calls for a female Time Lord to be in charge of the Tardis, let’s give the job to Olivia Colman, who also has the useful credentials of being known internationally for Broadchurch and her Golden Globe winning role in The Night Manager. BBC 1 brought us the start of a three-part piece of irresistable hokum on Tuesday called The Replacement from the same hokum producers of The Halcyon, Left Bank Pictures (who are rolling in in it, thanks to The Crown). An architect(played by Morven Christie) who is in a charge of a project to build a library in Glasgow is about to have a baby, so a replacement is brought in whilst she goes on maternity leave. She’s involved in the selection with her bosses, but then cue a whole load of paranoia as she thinks the new woman(played by Vicky McClure) is after her job, and is in league with her col-

leagues. It reminds me of working at the Beeb and being scared to go away on leave, so she might have a point! Science fiction and fantasy writer Joe Ahearne has come with up this enjoyable craziness that will will keep you on the edge of your seat and grinning like a Cheshire Cat. There’s nowt wrong with hokum, so check out series two of Stan Lee’s Lucky Man over on Sky One, and there’s even The Halcyon’s manager Steven Mackintosh back from being shot in series one, as James Nesbitt’s copper boss. Nesbitt discovers there’s a second woman who has a hand bracelet that brings her luck, whilst he wants rid of his, and he’s still got last season’s baddie on the loose. Lucky Man was Sky’s biggest ever drama success when it premiered last year and is a very enjoyable romp to be enjoyed whilst supping some beer or wine. You’d need to guzzle the product of a ton of grapes to get any pleasure out of ITV’s disastrous Nightly Show hosted by David Walliams,

yet I’m not writing the obituaries at the moment. Some quick points:- I think UK TV should have a nightly chat/entertainment show, but Walliams was totally the wrong person to launch it, as he cannot interview or ad-lib. Why didn’t ITV go for winning hosts on a crucial “launch week” with folk they have already lined up like Mel & Sue, Jack Whitehall, Gordon Ramsey or next week’s host John Bishop? Graham Norton and Jonathan Ross must have wet themselves laughing. Also you need talented

scriptwriters to come up with the topical material, which clearly ITV have not hired; some decent guests (Martin Clunes on Monday….come on!); and also a band or group for the host to banter with, like they do in the States. Otherwise, The Nightly Show was brilliant! Taboo must return to the BBC for a second series, and they must be applauded for scheduling it on a Saturday night and get some decent ratings. Tom Hardy was of course great, but my favourite character was the cocksure Sir Stuart

Strange of the East India company played with great gusto (and loads of swearing) by Jonathan Pryce. I hope he wasn’t bumped off in the events of the last episode. By the way, the BBC will play little part in deciding if there is a third series. Creator Steven Knight wants two more runs, but that will all be in the hands of the US FX channel which is screening Taboo and funding a large part of it. By the way BBC 2 starts a latenight repeat screening tonight.

Robot Wars Returns

Saturday - BBC One

Sunday - BBC Two

BBC One presents more celebrities donning fantastic outfits and learning iconic dance routines for Comic Relief, but this time the brave celebrities will be facing double the challenge - dancing and singing! Let’s Dance For Comic Relief is back for Red Nose Day 2017, now bigger and better than ever before, as it's been supersized into Let’s Sing and Dance for Comic Relief.

Dara Ó Briain and Angela Scanlon present the new series of Robot Wars, with battles commentated by Jonathan Pearce. This is the first group heat, as eight robot fighting teams battle for a place in the grand final. Each heat begins with two group battles; the four top teams go into a mini-league. Points are awarded to competitors based on control, damage and aggression with maximum points awarded to competitors who incapacitate their adversary.

The brand new series starts on Saturday 4 March at 6.45pm and will be hosted by Mel Giedroyc and Sue Perkins, marking their return to BBC One. The pair bring their own formidable and comic double-act to the show, with access-all-areas to the celebrities backstage. In addition to the live studio performances, the show will hit the streets to enlist the help of the great British public in some of the biggest dance-offs ever. And with some surprise special guests in store, Saturday nights will be jam-packed of performances from some of the nation’s favourite faces. The celebrity performers will face three live heats before a live grand final on Saturday 25 March. Together, the viewers at home and the judging panel will decide who makes it through to the final and the public vote to crown their winner, all in aid of Comic Relief. In episode one, Mel and Sue are joined by TV Presenter and Radio 1 DJ Matt Edmondson, stargazer Russell Grant, funny girl Sara Pascoe, DJ’s Rickie and Melvin and Absolutely Fabulous actresses Helen Lederer and Harriet Thorpe. Comedy royalty Paul O’Grady, Jo Brand and Frank Skinner are on the judging panel, plus there will be some very special guests. Sit back and let us sing, dance and entertain you! Red Nose Day is back on Friday 24 March 2017, and it’s all about your power to make the world a better place, simply by having a great time. All the money raised through Red Nose Day will help to change countless lives, both here in the UK and across Africa. To get involved and make your laugh matter, go to rednoseday.com

Robbie Williams on Saturday Night Takeaway Robbie Williams and Ayda Field are the first celebrities to face I'm A Celebrity...Get Out Of Me Ear in a brand new series of Ant & Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway. Masquerading as new pub owners to meet a series of party planners, inevitably the conversation doesn't quite go as planned. Talking one of the planners through his list of black listed celebrities, Robbie jokingly reignites his feud with Gary Barlow: "I've got a guest list of people to not invite. Gary Barlow obviously. That's a no. Alan Titchmarsh, I don't want coming. All of Coronation Street. Apart from Gail Platt's son, I like him. Mary Berry. I think that's it. I definitely put Gary Barlow as a no?" The situation gets all the more surreal when Robbie re-enters the pub with two new pets - a pair of ferrets!

Presiding over the battles are three judges: Professor Noel Sharkey, Dr Lucy Rogers and Professor Sethu Vijayakumar. In the case of no clear winner they will appoint a winner based on competitors’ control, damage and aggression. During their fights teams must try to dodge the arena hazards The Pit, The Spikes, The Flipper and Fire. They also have the four House Robots to deal with: Matilda, Dead Metal, Sir Killalot and Shunt. This series there’s a menacing new twist. Hitting the Arena Tyre no longer automatically lowers The Pit. It can also activate a mode called Rogue House Robot. This releases a House Robot to attack the competitors for a period of ten seconds, anywhere in the arena. Let battle commence!

Imagine…Alice Neel: Dr Jekyll And Mrs Hyde Monday - BBC Two On the eve of International Women’s Day, Imagine…presents a portrait of a remarkable artist, Alice Neel. American painter Alice Neel was an extraordinary and prolific figurative painter, yet spent most of her life working in obscurity, struggling as a single mother to survive.

Brexit: Britain's Biggest Deal

Born in 1900, Neel portrayed the 20th century until her death in 1984. She painted the people around her, on the margins of society, as well as her own hard, complicated and sometimes broken life. So many of her own traumas were compounded by her uncompromising need to paint: “I had to paint,” she says, and it was always at great personal cost. Made by Alice’s grandson Andrew Neel, Imagine reveals a complex and captivating woman, weaving home-movie footage and candid interviews with family and friends. It is honest, at times upsetting, and yet ultimately inspiring.

Meet the Lords Monday - BBC Two Episode two of the exclusive behind the scenes documentary returns to the House as the Government threatens to trim the Lords’ powers if they rebel again, but will they comply? Lord Strathclyde publishes his review into the powers the Lords have to block legislation. Rebellious peer Lord Dubs is on a crusade to push through an amendment to the Immigration Bill to allow unaccompanied refugee children into the country, we see how his efforts unfold.

Talking to key players on all sides, Laura Kuenssberg maps out the key issues facing Britain and Europe in the coming years, the political minefield Theresa May’s government needs to navigate - and why Brexit matters to us all.

And Admiral Lord West isn’t happy about a public poll that has voted overwhelmingly to name a new polar research ship Boaty McBoatface and raises a question about it.

The Nightly Show Weekdays - ITV

Over the course of a year, Meet the Lords follows some of the larger than life characters that inhabit the House of Lords, one of Britain’s oldest, most idiosyncratic and important institutions. For the first time free roaming cameras have been allowed to film inside the Lords Chamber and in its committees to capture moments that matter to the UK, but usually go unseen. Featuring new people’s peers, hereditaries and political grandees as they try to change or influence legislation, we follow their personal passions and clashes with the Government, all in a gothic palace where centuries-old ceremony and tradition still dominate proceedings.

With the Government poised to fire the starting gun for negotiations on Brexit, the BBC’s Political Editor Laura Kuenssberg investigates what is likely to be the biggest challenge we have faced since the Second World War. Will doing a Brexit deal be an impossibly complex and all-consuming process which will bog down the whole of Whitehall for years? Or could a quick and clean break be much easier than we think?

Comedian, presenter and actor John Bishop is in the hot seat for week two of The Nightly Show, the exciting new daily 30minute entertainment show going out 5 nights a week for 8 weeks. It is a period that covers the nation splitting over Brexit and where a Conservative government is for the first time having to tackle a Lords chamber where the opposition outnumber them. Produced in partnership with The Open University.

John hosts the second week of live shows which promise a high tempo mixture of topical monologue, studio games, celebrity guests, stand up and VT’s. The Nightly Show is a host a week, a show a day, a laugh a minute and will be recorded ‘as live’ each day.

Hi I am about to download my tablet photos onto my pc as suggested in a recent BlueMoon article. Once I have done that I wish to organise a backup for my pc. I recently answered an advert for a free backup but was plagued for months after the free backup was completed to pay for a continuation of the service. I declined. Can you please advise me of a reputable low cost backup service? Regards Keith

Hi I recently downloaded Dropbox as a photo back up. Unfortunately I should have deleted many of my photos on my PC and IPad before transfer. My drop box is now full. Should I delete directly from drop box or delete files from my PC and I pad first.2Gb storage is more than ample and I do not need to purchase more. Thanks I find the info in your articles very interesting Keith

Hi Keith, we use Carbonite, here is a link to their home products...

http://partners.carbonite.com/bluemoonsolutions?product=Home ... as long as the data you need to protect is on one computer then the basic version will serve you fine at just 60 US dollars a year.

Hey Keith thanks, we enjoy writing the articles.

Items in your DropBox folder are automatically synchronised between your devices, in your case I would move the pictures from your PC's " DropBox" folder into your PC's "pictures" folder, this will have the effect of removing them from DropBox but keeping them on your computer and will free up space on your DropBox.

TEAM BMW HERALDS A NEW ERA FOR BMW UK IN THE 2017 BRITISH TOURING CAR CHAMPIONSHIP A further chapter in BMW’s illustrious history in touring car racing unfolded today as BMW UK, in partnership with West Surrey Racing (WSR), announced a three-car team that will again bid for victory of the 2017 British Touring Car Championship. The announcement of TEAM BMW is a landmark occasion, marking BMW’s return to the country’s bestwatched motor race series as a manufacturer team. It has been 21 years since the marque last contested the series in this manner, when BMW Team Schnitzer fielded a BMW 320i line-up. Graeme Grieve, CEO of BMW Group UK, commented: “The BTCC is one of the most significant race series in the UK and has a huge and enthusiastic following. With a history of success and the continuous support of WSR for the past decade, we are delighted to step up as a Manufacturer Team again after 21 years.” BMW UK’s significant financial investment in the BTCC team includes the funding of technical developments on all fronts, focused on the very latest BMW

engine derivative. At the launch at BMW Park Lane, London, Graeme Grieve joined WSR Team Principal, Dick Bennetts, to remove the wraps from one of the three BMW 125i M Sport team cars that will contest the 2017 BTCC. With the cars freshly-developed, prepared and run again by WSR, BMW’s return to the Series as a Manufacturer coincides with a further landmark, marking a decade since WSR first contested the BTCC with BMW, which has endured to this day. The BMW relationship with Dick Bennetts’ Sunburybased operation in the BTCC was established in 2007, where they claimed both the Independent Drivers and Teams Championships. They repeated the feat in 2008 and went on to take the overall BTCC Drivers’ title in 2009, and added a driver and team double crown in 2014. Dick Bennetts remarked: “I reckon that working together successfully as motorsport partners for ten years is the equivalent of a lifelong marriage. It is a tribute to BMW’s product and

commitment, and we are delighted to once again represent the marque as they return with increased commitment as a Manufacturer in the BTCC.” Significantly, the driver roll of honour for each of the three BTCC Independent, Overall and Teams Championship victories fell to Northern Ireland’s Colin Turkington. Turkington has spent nine of his 12 BTCC seasons with

the WSR-BMW team, during which he scored 26 wins over five seasons. Now, two years after claiming the outright Drivers Championship at the wheel of a previousgeneration BMW 125i M Sport, he returns to the rearwheel drive TEAM BMW with renewed vigour. Driver talent runs deep in BMW’s 2017 BTCC campaign. Joining Turkington is Andrew Jordan, 2013 BTCC Overall Drivers Champion

and three-time Independent Drivers Champion - who brings with him long-term personal sponsor, Pirtek. Completing the trio is Rob Collard, a BTCC followers’ favourite and the Series’ legendary overtaker who, after his most competitive season to date in 2016, marks the tenth consecutive year he has driven a BMW in the BTCC, the last seven with WSR. Last year, the trio of WSR-

43

prepared BMW 125i M Sport cars contributed to a nail-biting finale that went down to the wire at the final round. Team driver Sam Tordoff was pipped at the post for the overall driver’s title, just two points shy of victory. Nevertheless, the WSR BMW team claimed a double title success at the conclusion of the series, taking the BTCC Constructors crown and the Teams’ Championship once again. Entering the 2017 season of the super-competitive BTCC, TEAM BMW has heavyweight success behind it, increased financial and technical investment from BMW UK, the skills, consistency and superb track record of West Surrey Racing, and a driver trio that collectively represents the most powerful line-up in this year’s BTCC series. The 2015 season brought race victories for WSR’s three drivers; Rob Collard, Sam Tordoff and Andy Priaulx while Collard, Tordoff and Jack Goff combined to win the constructors’ and teams’ championships in 2016; the latter under the Team JCT600 with GardX banner.

A Minor But Major Difference! Though they may be very close to the same surface, the fringe and the green are two very different places. This is especially true when you begin talking about the rules that apply to each location. Specifically, the rules that apply to what you can and cannot do when your ball is on the green or on the fringe. Fixing a ball mark just seems like it is always the right thing to do. After all, we have all suffered the consequences of playing on greens where people seem to always forget to fix their ball marks. They leave nasty scars that can take weeks to heal. However, before you bend down to fix a ball mark, you need to make sure that you are doing it in a legal fashion. If your ball is not yet on the green, you are not allowed to fix any ball mark or pitch mark that is anywhere other than on the green. For example, if you end up on the fringe and there is a ball mark on the fringe that is in your line, you may not fix it. However, if the ball mark is on the green, then you are entitled to fix it. In fact, any ball mark that is on the green can always be fixed. But, be very careful, you have to make sure that the mark is indeed a ball mark! As per rule 16-1c, the only other damage that you can fix is damage from an old hole plug. If the damage is caused by anything else, like spikes, a slammed club, or just a random scar, you may not attempt to repair it until you have finished the hole. Ball marks off the putting surface may be fixed before the completion of the hole, but only after your ball has made it to the green. So, if you land your approach shot in the fringe and your ball ends up right behind your ball mark, don’t touch it. Hit your chip shot and then, only after your ball has come to rest on the green, should you go back and fix the ball mark in the fringe. If you do violate this rule, the penalty is two strokes. Quite a hefty conse-

Stuart's Success

There was a British winner in Sunday's 34th staging of the Torrevieja Half Marathon, with Notts Athletic Club runner Stuart Spencer taking the men's race in one hour, nine minutes, and 14 seconds. The Leicestershire accountant was rated as the UK's 11th best marathon runner last year, and is now looking for a personal best at

the full distance in next month's London Marathon. Livson Matleena was the women's victor in a time of one hour, 26 minutes and 52 seconds, whilst 40 percent of the one thousand runners opted for the shorter 10 kilometre test, with Hazma Chetoui winning the men's category, and Silje Lindstad being the fastest female.

quence for a common courtesy! Another big difference between your ball lying in the fringe or on the green is whether or not you can mark your ball. On the green, you may mark and clean your ball at any time. On the fringe, however, you may only mark your ball if you are requested to do so by an opponent. Rule 22-2 states that, if you are off the green, you cannot just lift your ball because you think it is in someone’s way, you must be requested to do so. And, if you are asked to lift your ball, you may not clean it. You must lift it and replace it exactly as it lay prior to being marked. If you lift your ball when it lies off the putting surface without the action being requested by another player, your penalty is one stroke in accordance with rule 18-2a.Now, once your ball is marked, you may think that the rulings stop, but they don’t. In fact, it actually gets a little more complicated. Basically, your ball marker may be intentionally moved only if it is in the line of another player and they request for it to be moved. Accidental movement of your ball marker is without penalty if the movement is a result of the moving of loose impediments or in the act of measuring your ball. Also, if your ball marker is moved during the act of marking the ball, it is without penalty. This is important because tapping down your ball marker with your putter is considered to be part of the act of marking. So, if you tap down your marker and it moves or sticks to your putter, you are not subject to penalty. However, if your marker moves in any of these situations, it must be returned to its original location. If a player replaces his ball without relocating his marker to the original spot and then plays from an incorrect position, he is subject to penalty under rule 20-7.If the marker is moved outside of one of the given exceptions, he is subject to penalty under rule 20-1 or 18-2 depending on the cause of the motion. Marking your ball seems like a simple act, but don’t let your guard down just because your ball is in your pocket. Although the situations become complicated and difficult to interpret, moving your marker can result in a costly penalty. If you want to have some fun, you can begin to read some of the crazy rulings and decisions that apply to ball markers. You may be surprised how easy it can be to break the rules when you’re on or around the green!

What A Win!

Almoradi Pegged

CD CASTELLON 1 CD TORREVIEJA 2 CD Torrevieja got their first victory last Sunday since early November, but in getting three points at promotion-chasing Castellon, they produced a great performance in their best result of the season, as they inflicted Castllon’s second home defeat of the campaign. For Torry, it demonstrated the quality that they do have in the squad, along with the grit and determination to get out of the relegation mire, with a massive match to come this Sunday. The result means that they are six points adrift from safety, and the team in that safe spot is Bunol who come to the Nelson Mandela stadium on Sunday for an 11.45am kick-off. Muro though are two points above Torry, and they picked up a predictable win over bottomside Segorbe, but at least Bunol were held at home by Alzira, and with Almoradi getting a point(see right), there are three sides including Torry that can see Bunol in their sights. Muro incidentally have a tough match this Sunday at Alzira. Every Torrevieja player was outstanding at Castellon, and Lewis Allen led the pack with his phenomenal work rate where he made Castellon weep with his diagonal runs, his fierce desire for the ball and his predatory instinct.

He had brought out a fine save from Zagalá only moments before debutant Molina got to the goal line, cut the ball back for the onrushing Luis Carlos to drive a composed low shot into the far side of the net. It was a beauty to give Torry the lead in the 16th minute. Molina on his first outing looked a resounding success both in his attacking support for Lewis Allen but also using the ball in midfield decisively. Castellon, as expected, dominated play, but attack after attack was managed impressively by a resolute and composed Torry rearguard. When a shot breached the back four, then Jose Carlos was authoritative on his goal line, determined to keep a clean sheet, as well as side-lining Buba to the bench. He was beaten though in the 27th minute from the penalty spot by Zarzo, after Calzado was adjudged to have tripped an opponent in the box. Jose Carlos made up his mind which way to dive, but it was the wrong decision - the only one he was to make throughout the match. With the score level then for the second half, Castellon came out like a team on a mission, knowing a win would take them back into the top four after Novelda's home defeat on

Saturday. Torry were resolute with every player ensuring serious shots on target were kept to a minimum. Jose Carlos did have two key saves to make, one with his legs, to ensure the score did not inch in favour of the home side. When Pastor was hauled down in the box midpoint into the second period, it was Lewis Allen in the 68th minute who stepped up to the mark. He oozed confidence as his left foot strike placed the ball securely into the net, before he was lifted aloft by colleagues who knew they could keep the hosts at bay. They did so with conviction and the fresh legs of Matheus (for Pastor) and Joel (for Molina), with Dani Salazar having replaced Nica shortly before the winning goal. Castellon did not give up, but they could not find the equaliser. The result put Torrevieja up one slot, but they remain solidly berthed in the relegation places. Fans know that March is the month of destiny as Torry contest the first three Sundays at home and take on fellow-strugglers Muro in a midweek showdown. These five fixtures in March can provide the exit door for Torry from the basement group so along as they play as they did in Castellon.

CD ALMORADI 1 CF BORRIOL 1 Almoradi have only lost once in their last five matches, which have included two straight wins, but the problem is that as the business end of the season approaches, they need to get more three- pointers in their fight against relegation. As it is, the point gained in the match against Borriol on Sunday was still another positive sign of their recent improvement, and with a trip to bottom of the table whipping boys Segorbe to come this weekend, Almoradi will be hopeful of victory this weekend. They will also be keeping their fingers crosssed that Torrevieja turn over Bunol on Sunday (see left), the side that is just five

points above the two Vega Baja sides as the first team in the safety zone. Almoradi pretty much controlled last Sunday’s first half in a match where Obele didn’t start, with Momo putting Almoradi into the lead with a header from David’s 26th minute corner. The second half produced two chances within a minute for Almoradi to extend their lead with opportunities for David and Saul in the 56th and 57th minutes, whilst at the other end Jaume missed a good chance to level up for Borriol on the hour mark. A Borriol corner produced their equaliser in the 67th minute with Chimo scoring after the visitors, who then

looked the more dangerous of the two sides, with eventually both outfits seemingly content to settle for point. Victory now is essential for Almoradi at Segorbe this Sunday, as well as casting a watching eye at what is going on elsewhere. In other matches last weekend, Orihuela took their derby game against Crevillente, to put them just four points off the play-off zone, and with the next match to come at midtable Paterna. Crevillente entertain the runaway league leaders Olimpic this Sunday, whilst Elche Ilicitano are at home to fourth-placed Novelda, having not had a fixture last weekend.

Thader’s Late Blow CF UD ILICITANA 1 Rojales-based Thader are in a poor run at the moment, as they’ve slipped to sixth in the Preferente Group Four table as they are struggling to pick up points and victories. Last Sunday, they lost in the 88th minute to an Ibarra free-kick from just outside the box, after Quino(lucky to get a yellow card) upended Ilicitana’s Tomas in a

CD THADER 0

threatening position. The match before the late drama appeared to be heading for a draw in a contest of few chances for either side. Thader’s recent form now seems them seven points adrift from third-placed Hercules, and this Sunday they entertain second-placed La Nucia, who beat them two-one back in October.

VILLARREAL 2 REAL MADRID 3 Real Madrid kept their narrow lead at the top of La Liga on Sunday night, but they had to come from two goals down to win at Villarreal, managed by ex-Elche boss Fran Escriba. Manuel Trigueros and Cedric Bakambu gave the hosts a deserved two-goal lead in the span of six second-half minutes, but Gareth Bale pulled one back in the 64th minute. Referee Jesus Gil Manzano handed Real a controversial penalty after 74 minutes, which Cristiano Ronaldo converted, and substitute Alvaro Morata gave his side the lead with a strong header seven minutes from time. Ramos missed a great chance to make it 4-2, as his header flew over the goal, and Navas produced an excellent save on Dos Santos to preserve the win. In the final minutes, Bale limped off the pitch, although the change seemed to be more of a precaution than anything else. Speaking after the match, coach Zinedine Zidane hailed substitutes Alvaro Morata and Isco, as their introduction turned the tide of the game Real Madrid’s way. Zidane admitted that Madrid had to change their tactics in order to combat Villarreal and was pleased with the result. “They did very well and changed the game for us. I’m certain that we’ll need to call on the whole squad”, said Zidane, with his side on action on Wednesday against Las Palmas (see below).

Lionel Messi scored a late winner for the second week in a row as Barcelona beat Atletico in a crucial six-point La Liga showdown on Sunday. Having netted a 90th-minute penalty to secure victory over lowly Leganes last time out, Messi was on hand again to see Barca past Atletico with a goal three minutes from time at the Vicente Calderon. Rafinha had put Barca ahead midway through the second half, only for Diego Godin to head in an equaliser for Atletico shortly afterwards. Barcelona had the perfect chance to raise the pressure on Wednesday, as they entertained struggling Sporting Gijon (report below).

ELCHE 1 HUESCA 1 Elche still can’t lift that monkey off their Segunda division back of getting successive wins, after their away victory the previous weekend at Lugo. They had to share a draw last Saturday with Huesca in an enjoyable clash, which saw Pelegrín grab a point for the Ilicitanos midway through the second half. The match was played at a good pace with both sides in a positive frame of mind, especially in the first half, with Vadilo putting Huesca in front in the 27th minute with a fine strike that gave Juan Carlos no chance in the Ilicitanos goal. The opening goal came after Iriondo for Elche and Samu Sáiz for Huesca both had good opportunties to open the account for their respective sides. Huesca looked to build on their advantage, though Hervías came very close to levelling for Elche before the interval. Pelegrín got a cracking leveller from a free kick in the 66th minute, and then Elche held the upper hand as they went for a winner, and they thought they got it from Dorca, after the referee had deemed that Malonga was offside. Elche lie 12th in the table, some 24 points behind the leaders Levante, who they go to this Sunday afternoon.

Real Madrid head coach Zinedine Zidane says Gareth Bale apologised for his red card against Las Palmas on Wednesday night and was disappointed with the incident. Bale was shown his first red card since joining Real Madrid and his first since 2008 for kicking out at Jonathan Viera before pushing the midfielder to the ground. It looked like it would result in a first home league defeat in a year for Real until a late comeback saw them snatch a draw at the Bernabeu.Cristiano Ronaldo's late double salvaged a draw that keeps Real just a point adrift of league leaders Barcelona with a game in hand. Asked about Bale's dismissal, Zidane said: "He has apologised. He is not happy with the sending off.”"This can happen, it is a fact of the game and we cannot change it. I used to be happy after the matches and now I cannot be happy lately, but this is a very long season and we are going to change it." Real have a tricky match away to Eibar tomorrow afternoon with a 4.15 pm kick-off.

La Liga champions Barcelona regained the top spot with a comfortable win over Sporting Gijon at the Nou Camp on Wednesday, that was overshadowed by the news afterwards that coach Luis Enrique is standing down at the season (see opposite page). A header from Lionel Messi, making his 500th Barca start, and Juan Rodriguez's own goal set the Barca on course to victory inside 11 minutes. Carlos Castro pulled one back for the visitors midway through the first half but Luis Suarez's sensational volley saw Barca wrestle back the initiative. The hosts then cut loose after the break as Paco Alcacer's third goal of the season, an exquisite Neymar free-kick and Ivan Rakitic's thunderous drive moved Barcelona a point clear at the top of La Liga, after Real Madrid drew with Las Palmas later in the evening. Barcelona now entertain Celta Vigo on Saturday evening.

Monte On Target AT. ORIHUELA 2 CD MONTESINOS 4 CD Montesinos made it 14 straight unbeaten matches in the Valencia regional group 16, as they took an early lead Orihuelka in eight minutes from Carlos Lorente who beat the right-hand side and beat the Orihuela keeper with a fierce drive. From the restart, Atletico lost possession and Carlos Ventura ran through to double Monte’s lead. Atletico woke up and forced a string of good saves from Dani, but Atletico pulled one back on the half-hour mark, and missed other good chances. Monte missed out on some early secondhalf chances, opportunities capped by a rare Vaz penalty miss, with the visitors made to pay when the home side levelled things up in 65th minute after a Monte defensive lapse. Both sides went for it, and with five minutes remaining, Vaz made up for his penalty miss by bursting through two defenders to put Monte in front, and then in added time, Carlos Ventura got his second goal to seal another win for Monte, who are third in the group 16 table, and three points behind leaders Benijofar. They entertain second-bottom Sporting Orihuela CF this Sunday with a 5.00 pm kick-off.

Brexit will cause "serious problems" for the United Kingdom hosting Champions League and European Championship finals, says the UEFA president. Aleksander Ceferin was adamant European football's governing body remained committed to hosting the semi-finals and final of Euro 2020 at Wembley, but raised concerns at the possibility of players and fans being refused entry. "If Brexit happens, everything changes, but football was played before, and it will be played in the future," Ceferin told The New York Times. "Now, with free movement in the European Union, it is much better.”

Pepe’s Back

Former West Brom manager Pepe Mel has been appointed coach of struggling La Liga side Deportivo La Coruna. Gaizka Garitano was sacked on Saturday as Deportivo registered their fourth consecutive league defeat. Mel, 54, only lasted 17 games in charge at West Brom in 2014 and has not managed since he was sacked by Real Betis in January 2016. Deportivo, league champions in 2000, are two points above the relegation zone having not won since December. He is the club's seventh manager in six years and has been put in charge until the end of the season.

Perez Concern

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez is reportedly worried about the form of some of his star players like Cristiano Ronaldo, despite the fact that the striker rescued a point for Real on Wednesday night (see opposite page). The Spanish sports website Diario Gol claims that the Perez has told close friends in recent weeks he believes the 32-yearold could be past his best. Besides his goals, Ronaldo cut a subdued figure against Las Palmas and struggled to make much of an impact until the closing stages. He remains a far cry from his usual self and Perez is concerned his struggles could derail Madrid’s attempts to win a first La Liga title since 2012. The Madrid chief was also unimpressed with the performances of Keylor Navas and Sergio Ramos. Navas, who is expected to leave at the end of the season, should have done better with two of Las Palmas’ goals. And Ramos also endured a difficult evening - and was mocked by Sporting midfielder Tana after his goal in the 10th minute.

Beltran Blow

CD Torrevieja forward Jorge Beltran, who joined the club in January, is going to be out of the side for the next four weeks with a torn muscle that he suffered in a training session. Beltran scored a spectacular goal in his debut against Olimpic Xativa on January 22nd.

Enrique Quits

Barcelona head coach Luis Enrique has announced that he will not be in charge at the Nou Camp next season. Enrique made the shock announcement in the wake of Wednesday night's thrashing of Sporting Gijon(see opposite page). The 46-year-old confirmed that he has decided to step down when his contract expires this summer. "I will not be the coach of Barcelona next season," he said. "I would like to thank the club for the confidence they have shown in me, it's been three unforgettable years.” "In pre-season I had a meeting with Barca directors Albert Soler and Robert Fernandez, in which I told them about the possibility of not renewing my contract. They told me there was no hurry to make a decision - but now that moment has arrived. It is a difficult, measured and well thought out decision, and I think I have to be loyal to what I think.” "There are three exciting months ahead. We are in a difficult situation, especially in one competition, but with the help of everyone and if the stars align, we can turn that game around. I will give my full dedication in these three months." Like his friend and former teammate Pep Guardiola, who stood down in 2012 after four successful years in charge of Barca, Enrique highlighted the pressure of life in charge at the Nou Camp as a factor in his thinking. "The reason is the way in which I live this profession," Enrique added. "It means very few hours of rest." Barca may be up against it in the Champions League but they remain in the La Liga title race and will face Alaves in the Copa Del Rey final on May 27th - meaning Enrique will have a chance to add to his haul of eight trophies as Barca boss in what is likely to be his final match at the helm. Barcelona president Josep Bartomeu said: "We accept Luis Enrique's decision. He has been a great coach. Now it is time to end his spell in the best possible way”. "Luis Enrique has brought us great success and he can still bring us more. The players are motivated to do it." Enrique, a former Barcelona player, took charge in May 2014 and led the Catalan side to a remarkable Champions League, La Liga, Copa del Rey treble in 2014/15. Last season, Enrique added further La Liga and Copa del Rey titles, but Barca came in for heavy criticism after a 4-0 loss in the first leg of their Champions League last-16 tie at Paris Saint-Germain last month. The Barcelona players were told Enrique would be leaving after they hit six against Gijon. Midfielder Ivan Rakitic said: "The coach came into the dressing room and told us before the press conference. We were all left a bit open-mouthed. We didn't know he was going to announce it today.” "He has all the support of the dressing room. We will do everything we can to do our best in the months to come." The news will immediately ignite speculation over who will succeed Enrique at the Nou Camp. Sevilla's former Chile boss Jorge Sampaoli is among the early favourites for the role, alongside Athletic Bilbao boss Ernesto Valverde.

NO THANKS

DROP ZONE BATTLES

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger says he is not interested in taking over from Luis Enrique at Barcelona in the summer. Enrique announced on Wednesday that he will leave his position as head coach at the Nou Camp at the end of the season (see page 47). "I am not looking for jobs in other clubs or jobs for other people. I am just focused on me getting to the next level and trying to improve”.

SHUT UP!

David Haye and Tony Bellew have been warned by British boxing chiefs after "extremely disappointing comments" before Saturday's heavyweight bout. The British Boxing Board of Control acted after a news conference on Monday where Haye insulted fans and gave graphic descriptions of hurting Bellew. BBBofC general secretary Robert Smith cited "tragedies" in the sport and said he has asked both men to be "sensible".

With Chelsea, Spurs and Manchester City not playing this Saturday, tomorrow’s focus is very much on the battle against relegation from the Premier League, writes ALEX TRELINSKI. There’s no bigger clash than the afternoon showdown between Leicester City and Hull City at the King Power stadium, with the Ranieri-less Foxes producing the win of the season against Liverpool, whilst Hull, despite being second-bottom, are looking altogether a tougher outfit these days. Plus dangerously for all opponents, Jamie Vardy (pictured in the Liverpool win), has rediscovered his scoring touch. Caretaker Foxes boss Craig Shakespeare appears to appears to have a whole different chemistry amongst the players based on the Liverpool result, whilst the Hull boss Marco Silva has improved the Tigers defense significantly as the team has conceded no more than three goals in last four matches including the ones with the likes of Manchester United, Liverpool and Arsenal. A draw perhaps? Crystal Palace are in desperate search of a win to find a way to get themselves out of their predicament where they are third from bottom, and travel for a tough match at West Bromwich, managed by former Palace chief Tony Pulis. Middlesborough are above Palace by virtue of goal difference, and they also have a difficult away-day, with a trip to Stoke City. People thought that Paul Clement was on a hiding to nothing when took up the cudgels at Swansea City, but the highly thought of coach is producing a minor miracle in South Wales, and though there is a lot of work still to be done, his side could get some more breathing space with a likely home win over Burnley. Bottom side Sunderland look a good bet for the drop and they must be dreading the Sunday afternoon visit of Manchester City who have been going up the gears recently. Meanwhile the Saturday lunchtime early kick-off(1.30 pm) has Manchester United entertain Bournemouth, with the South Coast side slowly sliding down the table and only four points above the relegation zone. If defeat at the hands of hard-to- beat United at Old Trafford happens tomorrow, then it looks like a tough game-on for Eddie Howe and his men for the rest of the season. Anfield hosts the Saturday late clash between Liverpool and Arsenal (6.30 pm kick-off) with the match all about trying to secure a Champions League slot, and with the unpredicability of both outfits, any result could, and probably will happen! Second-placed Spurs play Everton on Sunday, and runaway leaders Chelsea go to West Ham United for the capital derby on Monday night.
