Having suffered agony for months and not wanting to prolong the pain and lack of mobility, he forked out almost €4,000 to have the procedure done privately. Three years and two unsuccessful ops later, the 64-year-old father of four is in even more pain – and desperate for a cure. But Torrevieja’s San Jaime Hospital, where he had a prosthesis inserted to replace his right knee, are demanding ANOTHER €3,800 from him in case the original prosthesis needs replacing.
