Fielder Elementary had lots of famous historical people drop by for a visit during its annual 'Living Museum' event in which second-graders portrayed famous historical figures like Barak Obama, George Washington, Amelia Earhart and so many more. Students worked hard to research, write and present a short biography while dressed to resemble their historical person of choice. The school's two-wayimmersion students wowed their families and friends as they presented their biographies in both English and Spanish!

ASK THE AUDIOLOGIST Looking for a new Hearing Aid?

NEW TECHNOLOGY RELEASED IN MARCH

Dr. Mary Sue Harrison, Au.D “Our goal at Today’s Hearing is to make sure that our patients have the best quality of hearing for their specific loss while also being conscious of their budget. Manufacturers like Oticon, Resound, and Phonak have the same goal- improving your hearing as well as their products. In fact, most manufacturers release new technology every two years. Not only does this drive in new clients but it also keeps older clients happy and more satisfied. So what are you getting with new technology? Where exactly is your money going? The number one complaint of most individuals with hearing loss and most previous hearing aid wearers is background noise and feedback. Both can be very uncomfortable and can cause some users to refuse hearing aids altogether. However, manufacturers are constantly working to improve the performance and to eliminate feedback as best as possible. While manufacturers do not all update their technology at the same time, we can expect a few improvements in technology for the new year. The 2015 Oticon line features the Alta Pro 2 and Ria 2, which have been set to far improve the quality of sound, lower background noise, and reduce feedback. While the originals, Alta Pro and Ria Pro, are now only a few years old, the manufacturer has taken the complaints and concerns from audiologists, and patients alike, in order to further improve the devices shelflife. In 2014, the Danish hearing aid company, Re-

Morton Ranch High School and taught physics at Cinco Ranch High School, is the instructional specialist. They will coordinate all of the Center's activities, including STEAM-related curricular activities during the school day, support for robotics teams, science and engineering fairs, STEAM nights for families, STEAM summer camps and other special projects. The Shaw Center is located at 1730 Katyland Drive, next door to the Miller Career and Technology Center.

Sound, released the LiNX hearing aid. This manufacturer made big news when they teamed up with Apple Inc. in order to make the device iPhone, iPad, and Tablet friendly. They also launched their user friendly “ReSound Smart” app, which makes hearing aid settings accessible via the iPhone touch screen. The 2015 ReSound line not only has improved the feedback control and background noise, but they have now also come out with an app for the Android phone series that will eventually feature the same settings as the iPhone app, Resound Smart. This app will allow Android users the same incredible setting and adjustment options, Bluetooth listening, stereo and movie audio, and navigation access that iPhone users have been raving about for a year. These two major releases of technology will drop in March of 2015. While many people will flock to the new devices, others will wait to see what is next. But there is no doubt that hearing aid technology is forever changing to accommodate users and improve their quality of life.
