Mayde Creek girls capture another first at Charger Relays
CREEK Mayde Creek followed that up with a hard loss to Katy but Voss said the team did realize even in that defeat that this team has what it takes to compete with the big dogs of the district. “On paper, Katy is better than us,” Voss said. “I think that several teams in our district our better than us on paper. But I think the mental game has played a big part in our success this year. “Our first three and half innings against Katy were great,” Voss said. “We just seemed to struggle for seven innings. She changed every position except for pitcher and catcher. “It was a scary change to make,” Voss said. “But it obviously worked.” Voss uses that mental preparedness in getting her team ready for each and every district game. She prepares a mental lesson during the athletic period for each game on the Rams schedule. Before the big road contest with Seven Lakes last week, Voss prepared a mental lesson called the “Power of 7.” In doing this, Voss decorated her hallway, her office and the bus
