I will sing the LORD’s praise, for HE has been good to me. - Psalm 13:6
Dr. Nancia Michelle Leath was born to Pastor Robert Nettles and Dr. Janie Nettles on March 22, 1973, in Florence, South Carolina. Nancia grew up in Fayetteville, North Carolina, surrounded by her loving parents and her four siblings. She was a curious, gregarious child, who always had a love for people. The values, work ethic, and passion her parents instilled in her, led her to attend college at East Carolina University where she obtained her Bachelor of Science in Family & Community Services, with an emphasis on Child Development and Family Relations, in 1995. She worked in the field of sociology, teaching, and information technology for over a decade, until she yielded to the call on her life to serve, obtaining her Master of Arts in Psychology, with a Professional Counseling Specialty, from Argosy University, in 2006 and shortly thereafter her Doctorate in Psychology from Walden University. She completed her education with a Master of Arts in Doctor of Christian Theology and her Doctoral Degree in Christian Theology in 2016, from the International Miracle Institute. Nancia met the love of her life, her beloved Boris Russell Leath, in 1996 and they were wed on July 11, 1998. Their beautiful union was blessed with three children Gracelyn, Brooke, and Titus. Together Nancia and Boris, poured their strong combined love for family, faith and fellowship into raising their children into the remarkable adults they are today. Boris preceded her into Glory so we rejoice today, as we know these lovebirds are eternally back in each other arms, forever watching over their “young adults,”as Nancia lovingly referred to their children. Nancia is survived by her three children, her daughters Gracelyn Leath Lopez and Brooke Samaryan Leath, and her son Boris Titus Leath, her son in Law Ricardo Arias Lopez II, her mother Dr. Janie Nettles, her four siblings, brother Robert Mondrew Nettles, and sisters Synetheris Nettles, Rolisha Cane, and Takia Jones, and Brothers in Law Robert Cain and Timothy Jones, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, in-laws and friends. Dr. Leath left a lasting impact, as a Licensed Personal Counselor, a published author and renowned speaker, as well as her mentorship, and philanthropic efforts. Her enduring legacy reflects a profound love for people and a sincere commitment to improving the world. Nancia was well loved by so many. Her life of service, kindness, generosity, compassion and beautiful spirit has left an undeniable mark upon everyone who shared the joy in knowing and loving her. She understood good works alone are not enough to change a nation; she knew unconditional love of people, had to temper her actions. Joy remained in her eyes as she transitioned and countless words of encouragement resonate in the hearts she touched and those who loved her. Positivity radiated from her like the lovely smile that most often adorned her face. She most definitely was “fearfully and wonderfully made” by the one she loved with all her mind, body, and soul. This is our Nancia Michelle Leath!

Dr. Nancia Michelle Leath wore many titles over the course of her life, but to us three, we knew her first as mom. We knew her voice, her laugh, her touch, and her smile better than our own and she knew us before we even knew ourselves. She made every day an adventure, and every conflict a challenge. She taught us the truth based upon God’s Word and raised us up to be women and men of God. She showed us how to use our gifts, talents, and blessings for God’s glory. She taught us how to pray and praise God without restraint, encouraging us to pursue our own personal relationship with Him above all things. Our hearts are broken, but we know God is our Comforter and Healer because of her. During the day she would speak life and love into us through affirmations and praise, and in the midnight hour we heard her prayers to the Lord on our behalf. We never doubted her love for us, because she loved beyond words. Our mother loved with action. Everyone who knew Dr. Leath, knew that she was willing to give her time, energy, resources, and advice to anyone in need. She lived to please God and show love to all people.
We are truly blessed to call Dr. Nancia Michelle Leath our mother. Her impact is immeasurable, and her legacy lives on not just through us but the thousands of lives she touched. We love you forever, Gracelyn, Brooke, and Titus My Dear Friend and Sister Nancia, Your compassion, joy, sincere kindness, selfless love and support, has been a True Source of strength for both me and Richard over these past nearly 24 years. I Thank GOD for Richard introducing us and still marvel at what a strong unbreakable bond we were able to forge and maintain, no matter the time we spent apart. You always had that unique ability to listen without judgment and if necessary, correct me in a way that left me grateful and feeling loved, instead of scolded. I can hear you even now saying“I Love you, Sis. You know I only want the Best for you Girl.” These past few nights as I tried to come to terms with the reality of your passing; looking at your pictures, reels and videos, I couldn’t help but smile. You truly Lived Sis. Your effortless style, beauty and grace remains an inspiration to me. It was an honor to have known you Little Sis and a real privilege to hold your hand as you drew your last breath. You Rest easy now, free from pain back with your Beloved Forever!! Love you Always Sis, Ella
There aren’t enough words to express how incredible it was sharing life with Nancia. She was an amazing, loving, God-fearing, respectable, smart, and superb woman. Nancia lived more in her 50 years than anyone I know. Despite trials, she truly lived her best life every day. She walked in love, God’s wisdom, and awe-inspiring grace. She was a fierce momma, who protected and guided her children magnificently. Nancia left so many seeds of greatness in her children that her legacy will continue to leave a mark for decades, if not centuries. I am grateful that, as a Christian, I will see Nancia again. I look forward to the day when I can celebrate with her and Boris, as I am thrilled that the two of them are united again. But, on this side of Heaven, our hearts are irrevocably broken. I wish that I could spare Nancia’s children - her babies - from such unfair pain. Yet, this I know: Nancia’s children have now inherited an unparalleled village of seven (7) women who will make sure that they will thrive and run their race well, in honor of Nancia, all of their glorious days. —Tacita A.Mikel Scott
Nancia, a favored woman of grace. First, you wowed me with your captivating smile, bright eyes, and bubbly personality on the praise stage. Shortly after, you became an empowering voice of guidance, laughter, and intercession. You and your family have been ever present in the ebbs and flows of my life. Early on, I laughed and thought this lady really has the faith of a mustard seed to entrust me with her toddlers and baby. I later learned that you saw a light in me and began fostering my leadership skills for adolescents that I didn’t see within myself. Nancia, you had a boldness that built the character of courageous people, safe environments surrounding your loved ones. "She who plants kindness, gathers love." I hear your resounding voice, “Dr. T, Ladybug, I trust you because you have a pure heart”. Your trust in me facilitating teen workshops, serving as the chair of your TeenHOP’s board, and mentoring your precious daughters kept me accountable and focused on God’s path for me. I’m grateful for your “inward core” drive and belief that women can thrive in family, business, and service. Amazing Grace, Amazing Nancia, your legacy and inspiration will shine on. —Teri Larkins (Dr. T)
As I look back over my life, I can see how your love has guided me… You’ve been - Lord, You’ve been so faithful!” These lyrics of one of countless worship songs that I cherish having sung with my sister-in-faith resound now more than ever. No one has ever sung it quite like her. Even still, her rich, anointed alto vocals, radiant smile, and steadfastness and passion for The Kingdom are embossed within my heart, and the hearts of so many within her sphere of influence. She and Boris’ marriage also stood so admirably as a beacon of light and hope for so many of us couples. Having served and shared in the ministry of music, motherhood and marriage alongside Nancia has indeed been among the most purposeful and blessed aspects of my life journey. I truly thank my heavenly Father every time I remember sweet Nancia! “Oh Father, be “our joy in this time of sorrow, and hope for our tomorrow, peace in this time of storm, and strength….” as she would sing! Nancia I look forward to our meeting and singing again - this time in the eternal destiny! —W.O.V.E.N forever - with Love, Tiffany Martin
Nancia Michelle Leath was my accountability partner and one of my best friends. She prayed for me, my family and my marriage. I was in awe of her maturity, steadfastness, discipline, loyalty and faithfulness. She spoke truth in love and would tell you like it T-I-S and you couldn't be mad because you knew what she was saying was TRUTH! I will miss her for many reasons but mostly because she was my safe place who loved me and mine unconditionally. In 20+ years she showed me WAY MORE love, grace and loyalty than I ever deserved and for that I'm forever thankful. Nan loved JESUS, Boris, her beautiful babies and all of us so well. I miss your advice, your voice, your text and our 8-hour brunches that turn into dinner by the time we would get up from the table. Rest in paradise by beautiful friend. Until we meet again! — All my love, Catina
Nancia wasn’t just a friend; she was a sister, full of kindness and a beautiful soul who generously gave herself to others. She lived a life that overflowed with gratitude and purpose. She embraced life fully, never taking a single moment for granted. Nancia welcomed me into her circle, and I was truly blessed to share in her remarkable life. She was compassionate and always looked for the positive in any situation. She possessed the rare gift of being both a good listener and a source of sound advice and wisdom, never passing judgment and always giving grace. Nancia loved God; even in her most trying times, her faith never wavered. I’m so inspired by her unwavering faith! She was a light to this world and left a mark on every life she touched. I will continue to celebrate her life and cherish our memories. May her extraordinary life continue to inspire us all to live with the same kindness, selflessness, and gratitude. It brings comfort knowing she is at peace with the Father now. Rest in Heaven, Sis. —Heather Brothers
"Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!" Nancia exemplified the characteristics of the servant of this parable. She was a faithful follower of Jesus Christ by maximizing all the gifts she was given; be in her singing voice or her incredible ability to bring people together for a common cause. She was an amazing best friend and godmother to Anna, Riley and I. She will be remembered for her love and faithfulness. The way she could bring truth, calm, and love to any situation was a testament to her prayer life with Jesus. Thank you, Lord, for giving us Nancia. I will treasure our time together as a gift forever. I am so grateful we crossed paths and were best friends. Nancia was truly a Proverbs 18:24 friend. Nancia was a true and faithful friend. —Alexandra Bates
