Reginald Renard Jennings, affectionately known as “Reggie”, was born on March 25, 1970 to the late Willie “Sonny” and Betty Jennings.
Reggie was a product of the Atlanta Public Schools System. He attended Cascade Elementary and Venetian Hills Elementary, Southwest Middle, B.E. Mays High, and graduated from D.M. Therrell High School in the class of 1988. He continued his education at Atlanta Area Technical School (Atlanta Technical College), where he earned a certificate in culinary arts.
Reggie was an avid sports fan. Growing up, he was a dedicated and die-hard fan of the Cascade Youth Organization (CYO) baseball program. He enjoyed watching his dad and uncle coach and his brother, cousins, and friends play baseball. He also enjoyed watching football – from high school all the way to the professional level. Reggie could be counted on to know the latest schedule for every high school sports team in the metro Atlanta area. Reggie was his niece, Addison’s, biggest softball fan. He made sure to attend all of her school and travel ball games to show his support.
Reggie was a lifelong, dedicated member of the Mount Sinai Baptist Church. He was a member of the choir. He loved to lift his voice in praise to the Lord through song. Reggie served in the Southwest Atlanta community, working at the Kroger on Metropolitan and Wayfield on MLK.
Reggie never met a stranger. According to his late brother, Mike, he was the unofficial “Mayor” of Atlanta, and to many, he was “Mr. SWATS”. If you’ve ever ridden the MARTA train or bus, you have encountered Reggie at some point on your ride. He was a true Atlanta legend. He was known to always call and check in on family and friends. Most knew to expect a phone call from Reggie at some point of the day.
Reggie departed this life on July 23. He is preceded in death by his father, Deacon Willie Jennings, brother Michael Jennings, aunts, Catherine Terrell, Doris Amar and Carol Jennings, cousins Cathy and Chantris (Pam) Terrell.
He leaves behind his beloved mother, Betty Jennings, niece, Addison Jennings, sister-in-law, Tresa Jennings; aunt Carrie (Phillip) Hall; uncle, James Jennings, Sr.; and a host of cousins and friends.

Family and friends, don’t be sad too long,
For I’m in a better place you see. I was tired and I’m here in heaven
And I’m as happy as I can be.
I am with my loved ones who’ve gone before me In my mansion in the sky I’ll be waiting for you till we meet again In the sweet by and by
