We believe that vaccinating our teachers means we are one step closer in providing that safeguard not only in the classroom setting but also at home,” stated Cameron County Judge Eddie Trevino, Jr. On Thursday March 11, 2021, Cameron County in partnership with area school district superintendents hosted a mass vaccination clinic at the Los Fresnos Fire & EMS Department for area teachers from certain school districts. Cameron County Public Health has partnered with several school districts for continued vaccination allocation efforts and is committed to administering vaccines in accordance with the guidance from the State of Texas and the CDC.

Los Fresnos tabs Lucio as their new volleyball coach By KEVIN NARRO Staff Writer
LOS FRESNOS-The Lady Falcons have found their replacement for long time coach Becky Woods. On Monday, The Lady Falcons named Anissa Lucio their new head volleyball coach. Lucio spent the last four seasons at Harlignen South directing their volleyball program. Making the decision was tough for Lucio but there are some family ties to the Falcons program. Lucio’s
husband, Alex Lucio is currently on the basketball coaching staff and her kids will be attending school in Los Fresnos. “At first it was a personal deal, it was something I looked at with my family and felt it was a good fit with my husband there coaching and my kids will go to school there in Los Fresnos and being able to take over a program like Los Fresnos was the cherry on top.” Lucio said. This will be Lucio’s third stop as a head coach. Lucio spent three seasons
at Weslaco High and the last four at South. In her four years, South did not qualify for the playoffs her first season but made the playoffs the last three seasons along with a bidistrict title each of the three seasons. “Sky’s the limit with this program,” Lucio said. “It is an honor and a blessing to have the chance to take over this program. Coach Woods did a phenomenal job with this program and I want to be able to keep that going here in Los Fresnos.” Said Lucio.

LOS FRESNOS-The Lady Falcons turned some heads with a 7-3 win over San Benito at home on March 12. Los Fresnos then fell to Harlignen South 6-3
this past Monday and are now in a log jam in 32-6A, which is shaping up to be a competitive district down the stretch. Los Fresnos, Weslaco, South and Harlingen all have 3-1 records while San Benito is 2-2, Brownsville Rivera has

Q: My gums recently started bleeding every time I brush my teeth. Is this normal?

NO – not normal! You need to see your dentist soon for an evaluation & cleaning. Bleeding gums are often the f irst signs of gingivitis, a medical condition that can lead to serious consequences including tooth loss and gum surgery. A healthy mouth consists of coral pink gums that are stippled like an orange peel. The gums are not red, purple or puffy. The
gums do not bleed when the patient brushes his/her teeth. The gums are comfortable when the doctor or hygienist use a metal instrument called a probe to measure for pockets around the teeth. Pockets are the “turtle neck sweater” shaped spaces between the gum & the tooth. In a healthy mouth, pockets measure 3 millimeters or less. The level of the gums meets the crown of the tooth at the enamel, & there is gum tissue covering the space between the teeth. No dark triangles are visible between the teeth. Gums with gingivitis are usually red, purple, swollen, puffy & easily bleed. The surface of the gums appears smooth & shiny instead of like an orange peel. The disease is caused by bacterial plaque & by irritation from hard deposits called calculus. Bacterial plaque is a sticky substance that contains bacteria, bacterial glue, bacterial waste products & toxins. It gives teeth a “furry” feel and can be brushed or flossed away. Your dentist will recommend the cleaning that is appropriate for you after a thorough exam & x-rays. Once your teeth have been cleaned & returned to “normal” state of hygiene, it is important to keep up with regular dental check-ups as recommended. Online Registration! For Students New to District Begins Wednesday, April 7 Pre-K to High School
Overview Los Fresnos CISD is proud to offer a new Online Registration process for all students new to the school district – from PreKindergarten to high school. Returning Los Fresnos CISD students do not need to register. They are already enrolled. This new system will make it easier for families to enroll their children in district schools. Students must attend schools they are zoned for. Online Registration for the 2021-22 school year will begin April 7. Please see “What You Can Do Now” to prepare documents for your child that will be needed.
What You can Do Now ✅ Submit a Parent Application
to use the Home Access Center (HAC) at www.lfcisd.net to use the Online Registration portal. Once you complete and submit the application, you will receive an email with log-in instructions.

required to have for registration, such as photo ID, proof of residence, child identity and more (details on website).
