2 early season races during his sophomore year. He did well at local meets and qualified for the state meet in both the 100y and 220y distances, but did not place at the state meet in either (Track and Field News). Those performances certainly showed a promising high school star that might be looking at a scholarship. But no one would have expected this boy would one day be the fastest human on the planet. In his 11th grade season, Morrow took Texas track by storm with 18 first place

finishes in the 100y and 220y included 1st place in 100y and 3rd in 220y at the State Meet in 1953 (Track and Field News). Now every one could see this kid growing up catching wild rabbits by hand in South Texas was a legitimate sprinting star (Texas Monthly). His senior year featured 17 races and he came first in all of them. Offers came in from power track and field universities. But the San Benito Bullet chose Abilene Christian College for the next phase of this life. Most articles reference

Morrow’s desire to stay in Texas or strong commitment to the Church of Christ being the only to motivations for choosing ACC. While those were very important to Morrow, everyone should know that ACC was a very strong track program at the time. Small yes, but fast. ACC track and field coach, Oliver Jackson, was young and had gone from being a ACC football star and directly into coaching at the same school. When was your family’s last dental check up?

Ask Our Dentists by DR. ADAM LALONDE

Q: Will my teeth naturally get darker with age? If yes, then is there anything I can do to slow down the process or prevent it? ANSWERED by DR.ADAM LALONDE: Unfortunately, many factors are at work to destroy the naturally white smile we were born with. The most common include aging, consumption of staining substances (coffee, tea, cola, and tobacco), trauma, nerve degeneration, and old restorations. Certain medications may also cause tooth discoloration. Hot coffee & Dr. Adam Lalonde tea are especially hazardous to your smile because the increased temperature change of your teeth (hot and cold cycling) causes teeth to expand & contract. This cycling allows stains to penetrate tooth enamel. Cutting down on tea & coffee, accompanied by regular brushing and flossing, & professional cleanings at your dentist’s office, can go a long way to reducing these stains. If you decide you would like to go beyond this to make your smile look brighter you should investigate other options like professional tooth whitening or bonding. Almost anyone can benefit from either of these procedures, and your dentist can easily determine if you are a viable candidate during your regular exam. If you are a candidate for whitening, your dentist may suggest a procedure that can be done in- office or dispense a professional at-home product for you to use. The advantage of the in-office procedure, called Zoom Power Whitening is that amazing tooth whitening can be achieved in as little time as one hour.

Littleton Set to Take Over Harlingen South Girls Program By KEVIN NARRO Los Fresnos News

LOS FRESNOS-Last week Harlingen HCISD approved former Los Fresnos girls basketball coach Rebecca Littleton to the same position at Harlingen South. Littleton will also serve as the girls athletic director. Littleton will be replacing Kelly Garrett who spent nearly 10 years as the head coach

for nearly 10 seasons. Littleton spent four seasons in Los Fresnos and reached the playoffs each of the four seasons. This will be Littleton’s second gig as a head coach. “I’m thankful for Los Fresnos CISD for providing the best stepping stone for my career,” Littleton said. I’m so excited for a new challenge and new opportunity at Harlingen South.”

Littleton is no stranger to 32-6A as Littleton will now jump into orange and green and lead a South program who has made the playoffs and is always in the thick of the 32-6A race. “I want to thank coach Israel Gonzalez and Rob Davies for giving me this opportunity to be a part of the Hawk family. I’m looking forward to great things at South and ready to get to work, compete and get better.”

had coached runners to national colligate titles in 1952 and 1954. In college, from 1954 to 1958, Morrow competed in 88 individual races and placed first in 80 of those. During those years he racked up 14 individual national titles and set or matched 8 world records (Track and Field News). A sports illustrated article before the 1956 Summer Olympics records this about Morrow and the opinion of his college coach: “Despite his (Morrow’s) physical education major, he plans to farm rather than coach upon graduation. He believes now, despite his love of running, that he will never compete again once out of college. ACC Coach Oliver Jackson, however, says that if Morrow is drafted for two years in 1958 he almost certainly will continue to run in service competition and be ready for the 1960 Olympics as well. Jackson also believes that if this happens Morrow will become the greatest sprinter the world has ever seen. “He loves to work, and once his starting faults were corrected there wasn’t much else I could do—except sit back and enjoy myself.” Both coach and runner believe Morrow’s best race is the 220 and one day soon he should run it well under 20 seconds flat. “We really have no idea,” says Jackson, “how fast that boy can actually run.” 1956 proved to be the golden year for Bobby Morrow. His dominance at collegiate races proved he was the favorite to win the Summer Olympic sprints. And he would anchor the US Men’s 4x100 relay team. Morrow pulled through and earned gold medals in all three events. It was the first time since Jesse Owens in 1936, that an Olympian earned three gold medals in a single Olympics. Jesse earned

4 in 1936: 100m, 200m, 4x100m and the long jump. Jesse Owens was on hand to see Morrows races. Morrow set world record times in the 200m and the 4x100m. Only 4 men have ever won Olympic gold medals in the 100m, 200m, and 4x100: Jesse Owens, Bobby Morrow, Carl Lewis, and Usain Bolt. The Olympics were so much more than athletic achievement then. The Next Chapter The Storm By James Arnold

Beneath the darkening Maelstrom Of sickness, fear, and pain My Bark, my SOUL Tossed to and fro Despaired of LIGHT Again!

Oh FATHER! Send thy Angels, To save and comfort Me. For, FAITH doth lift The hearts of those Tossed on such angry seas.

Into the gathering dark clouds Grim as DEATH Where only GOD could see….

Thine ANCHOR holds Throughout the STORM The towering waves above Cannot defeat this heart of mine When grounded in THY LOVE!

Twirling twisting torrents My SOUL adrift, was tossed on TEMPEST’S Sea. The Rolling Mountains covered me,

For who needs light To guide the WAY, For FAITH is surer still. That sees the things we cannot see, Beyond the distant hill.

My feet could barely stand. The DEPTHS were great, My SPIRIT feared, Oh, GOD! Please take my Hand!

THAT gives us strength And lets us stand When else is swept away. WHOSE strengthening healing kindness

HE hears us in the darkest STORM In whisper or in shout! And last of these And greatest far The ESSENCE OF GOD DOTH GO! To lift us up When we fall.... TROUBLED Here Below. For Angels tread the Earth They say. I know, I saw THEM there! They aid and comfort Gave to me With greatest LOVING CARE. And in my NIGHT’S GREAT DARKNESS…. When I had lost my way Their LOVING CARE did lift my SOUL To see a brighter day. So, if sickness storms do gather, And blow your life away, I pray, Oh LORD, you find the ONES Who brought me through that day.

AND ESSENCE OF GOD! They gave me all those days. I thank THEE, LOVING FATHER For the Angels of these halls Who bear our souls like DOVES OF WHITE Above the Storm Cloud Walls. Who give us all COMPASSION FREE And LOVE beyond all MEASURE Who touch our lives, Our SOULS to THEE Do guard as PRECIOUS TREASURE.

(AUSTIN) — Texas families have through July 31 to enroll their newborns in the Texas Tuition Promise Fund® and pay this academic year’s rates for all or some future tuition and schoolwide required fees at Texas public colleges and universities, excluding medical and dental institutions. Newborns are children younger than 1 year of age at the time of enrollment. “For parents of newborns, saving for college may not always be top of mind,” Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar said. “That’s why we’re reminding new parents to take advantage of the opportunity to lock in this year’s rates before next year’s rates go into effect on Sept. 1.” Under the Texas Tuition Promise Fund, the state’s prepaid college tuition program, participants can purchase tuition units and lock in the costs of undergraduate resident tuition and schoolwide required fees at Texas public colleges and universities based on today’s prices. For additional flexibility, the plan also can be used at Texas medical and dental institutions, private Texas colleges and universities, out-of-state colleges and universities and career schools or eligible apprenticeship programs, where tuition is not locked in and the benefits and payouts would be based on the Transfer Value. Enrollment at 202021 prices closed on Feb. 28 for children 1 year of age and older. The next annual enrollment period begins on Sept. 1, with new contract prices based on Texas public college costs for the 2021-22 school year. Complete plan information, including the plan description and agreement,

current sales prices, enrollment forms and more, is available at TuitionPromise.org or by calling 800-445GRAD (4723), Option 5. The program’s outreach team also

offers free webinars to provide an overview of the plan and discuss the different tuition unit types and payment options, as well as provide information about Texas Match the Promise Foundation℠

matching scholarship opportunities. Go to the Texas Tuition Promise Fund website for information about how to register to attend upcoming webinars.

Participation in the Texas Tuition Promise Fund does not guarantee admission to or graduation from any college or university. Only the named purchaser may direct redemptions, withdrawals, changes in the designated beneficiary or other contract changes. Non-residents of Texas should consider whether their home state, or the beneficiary’s home state, offers its residents any state tax or other state benefits, such as financial aid, scholarship funds, and protection from creditors that are only available for participants in that state’s 529 plan. A contract, including the amount contributed, and any amount applied as a benefit or paid as a refund, is not guaranteed, insured or treated as a deposit or other obligation by the state of Texas, the FDIC, the Texas Prepaid Higher Education Tuition Board, any other state or federal governmental agency or Orion Advisor Solutions, Inc. or its affiliates. The contracts have not been registered with or approved by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission or with any state. Purchasers should carefully consider the risks, administrative fees, service and other charges and expenses associated with the contracts, including Plan termination and decreased transfer or refund value. Transfer Value applies to tuition redemption at Texas private colleges and universities, out-of-state colleges and universities, medical and dental schools, eligible apprenticeships and career schools. Match the Promise Foundation scholarships can only be used at Texas public colleges and universities, and Transfer Value cannot be utilized. Transfer Value is limited to the lesser of (1) the costs the Tuition Unit would cover at a public college or university or (2) the original purchase price of the Tuition Unit plus or minus the Plan’s net investment earnings or losses on that amount. Orion Advisor Solutions, Inc., serves as plan manager of the Plan. The Plan Description and Master Agreement contains this and other information about the Plan and may be obtained on the website or by calling the number provided above. Purchasers should read these documents carefully before purchasing a contract.

Frontier is also committed to families enabling children 14 years and younger to fly free through the airline’s Discount Den travel club on qualifying flights.
