Los Fresnos CISD - Two students at Los Fresnos CISD are finishing high school this school year with a bit of a head start in their career path. Antonio and Jesús Jr. are two students that have continued dual enrollment courses with TSC, even despite the hardships from the past year’s pandemic. Rolando Guerra, the Career and Technical Educational Director, expressed in an interview

that Antonio and Jesús were motivated to finish the necessary requirements to obtain the proper certificates needed to pursue their career goals. The students receive 1 on 1 hands-on experience with a TSC instructor right here at the Los Fresnos Highschool. And most importantly, they obtain the proper knowledge in safety, and the procedures needed to install fixtures, electrical lines, and other basic skills that any electrician would

use like testing sockets to ensure the proper amount of power is being used.

industries. The students will also receive Osha 10 training. The term OSHA 10 refers to the OSHA Ten Hour Training that is part of the certification needed for the workforce. OSHA Ten makes workers more knowledgeable about their rights related to workplace safety and health and overall workplace hazards.

By the end of this school year, the students will have received two certificates in electrical safety. The NCCER Certificate stands for ‘National Center for Construction Education and Research’ and was founded in 1996 as standardized training and provides industry-recognized credentials for those working in the construction, maintenance, and pipeline

When asking the principal why offering these dual

enrollment classes are so important Principal Justin Stumbaugh responded that, providing kids opportunities and options to pursue their goals and dreams is what it’s all about

The students, after finishing Highschool will then be one step ahead in getting into the career they enjoy and can finish their classes at TSC.

Ask Our Dentists by DR. ADAM LALONDE

Q: Can anyone receive dental implants? What could I expect during a dental implant procedure?

“Your Community Newspaper”

ANSWERED by DR.ADAM LALONDE:

Well, almost anyone. A dental implant procedure involves a two-part process; the first part is done by an oral surgeon and the second part is done by a general dentist. But the first step is to see your general dentist to determine whether or not you are a candidate for an implant. If yes, then the patient would begin the implant process by first having the oral surgeon place the anchor (implant). Dr. Adam Lalonde The implant is then allowed to fuse to the bone for a waiting period of several months. This process is called “osseointegration.” (In the case of a denture wearer, the patient’s old removable denture would be modified for use during the waiting period.) After the waiting period, the top of the implant (post) will be exposed, and the next process is begun by the general dentist. A single tooth, fixed bridge, or full denture is then made to fit onto the implant(s). The number and type of implants and the method of implantation will vary with each individual case. Amazingly, there is very little discomfort during the surgical phase and implant surgery is conveniently performed in the oral surgeon’s office while the restoration (part two) phase is performed in the dentist’s office. If you are considering implants, a thorough evaluation by your dentist will help determine if you would be a good candidate. If you would like to know if you are a candidate for dental implants, you may call our office to schedule a complimentary 15 minute consultation.

Lady Falcons fall at home, still eying postseason (956) 797-9920 • email: riosportsmagazine@gmail.com

By Kevin Narro Los Fresnos News LOS FRESNOS-There was a lot on the line when Los Fresnos hosted Harlingen in a 32-6A bout. Los Fresnos threw the first punch and Harlingen counted with the knock out punch in four sets (2527,25-21,25-10,25-18) The win puts Harlingen

in the driver seat for a district crown with a 11-1 record with just two games left.

record while Los Fresnos is 9-3 and Harlingen South sits as the fourth seed with a 6-6- record.

The loss for the Lady Falcons only means they won't hoist a district title, but still have their sights on the playoffs.

The Lady Falcons have a date with Brownsville Hanna before wrapping up the regular season at Harlingen South where Head Coach Anissa Lucio will make her return to Harlingen South where she led that program from 2017-2020.

With Brownsville Rivera winning on Tuesday, that put the Lady Raiders in second place with a 10-2

Want your story in the paper? The Next Chapter Poem Kindness

We speak of beauty as an outside thing when really in comes from within. The love we show should come from deep inside, deeper than our greatest likes on the outside. The more we try to spread this type of love around, means much more than you are bound to come around. So, then no matter the problem, no matter the odds, no matter the people who try to bring you down, spread kindness all around.

This story continues next week. The Next Chapter is a column featuring a serialized continuing short story from

a local author. You can submit your own original story for publication at our Facebook Page.
