A yellow-orange tandem unfolds in history after the Ď?‹”•– ƒ—–‘Â?ƒ–‡† ‡Ž‡…–‹‘Â?•Ǥ Liberal Party standard bearer Benigno Simeon ‘Noynoy’ Aquino and Pwersa ng Masang Pilipino vice-presidential bet Jejomar Binay outstood the rest of the political candidates as they were proclaimed President and Vice-President, respectively, at the Batasang Pambansa, Quezon City, June 9. On the other hand, Vice President-elect and Estrada’s running mate, Binay, garnered 14, 635, 074 votes, almost a million ahead of Aquino’s running mate and second on the race, Manuel “Marâ€? People started to chant “Noy-Bi when Aquino and Binay entered the big hall. Their
Colegio offers three new programs Starting the new academic year, the Colegio opens its three new programs namely Bachelor of Arts in Legal Management, Bachelor of Science (BS) in Food Technology, and BS Nutrition and Culinary Arts. Š‡ ƒ…ƒ†‡Â?‹… ƒˆˆƒ‹”• ‘ˆĎ?‹…‡ applied for Commission on Higher Education’s (CHED) approval of the three new programs but only Legal Management was the one approved in time for the enrolment. However, the Colegio still offers the two other programs for next school year. Dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences (CLAS) Rowena Capulong-Reyes said, “We only have limited programs so our population does not grow, it remains small, that is why we came up with new programs.â€? The idea of opening three new programs came from the experience of the Vice Rector for Academic Affairs Rev. Fr. Juan Ponce, O.P. in the University of Santo Tomas (UST). Reyes said programs like Food Technology and Nutrition and Culinary Arts has had a good market in UST and they thought
it would be good for the Colegio as well. In addition, Ponce said these two new programs will hopefully prove that the students do not only cook but also value the Â?—–”‹‡Â?–• ƒÂ?† †‹‡– –Šƒ– Ď?‹–• ƒ …‡”tain individual. He also said they would try to train the school canteen staff and pursue them to cooperate with the administration concerned for the value of nutrition in the students’ food. In terms of readiness with the facilities, Fr. Ponce said the Colegio is ready for the ‘basic’ needs that these two programs may require. “The future students of these programs will have to share with the HM laboratory, in order to Â?ƒš‹Â?‹œ‡ ‹–• Č?Žƒ„‘”ƒ–‘”›Č? —•‡ǥdz Ponce said. feasible, to think the program was not even marketed yet. He also said, the Colegio has accommodated Legal Management applicants who actually passed the UST Entrance Test but did not meet the quota. “Instead of forcing them into a program they did not originally choose, the Colegio ƒ……‡’–‡† –Š‡Â? •‘ –Š‡› Č?•–—dents] may still take Legal Management, their first choice,â€? Fr. Ponce said. The academic affairs have already appointed chairpersons for the new programs. Fr. Ponce took the helm for Legal Management, Philippine Sports Commission Sports Nutrition Unit Head Karen LesliePineda took over Nutrition and Culinary Arts, while Ma. Elena Fernandez of the Food and Nutrition Research Institute will head Food Technology. Fr. Ponce said this move is done to prepare the Colegio for its much awaited ‘university status’ come year 2020, aiming the Colegio to hopefully establish additional new programs including Engineering and Law.
