Word from the Picture Palace

We have a warmth of summer sizzlers for you at the Picture Palace in August, kicking off with those loveable little rogues, The Minions. But if the yellow perils aren’t your thing, we have the uniquely different National Theatre film production of London Road which is well worth a punt, as is the Coeness style Slow West, starring Michael Fassbender which serves as an impressive calling card for first-time writer-director John M. Maclean. Hollywood legends are in abundance in the incredibly gripping The Choir, with multiple Oscar Winners Dustin Hoffman and Kathy Bates in the inspirational story of a rebellious kid with a remarkable gift. There’s another chance to catch the very popular Far From the Madding Crowd and Spooks again with our impressive programme, completed by Amy, a powerfully honest look at the twisted relationship between art and celebrity, and Magic Mike XXL, the follow up to the 2012 success. We aim to let you know further in advance which films will be showing at RPP, keep an eye on the website for further details and keep cinema local. Thanks as always for your continued support and enjoy the films.

The Royston Picture Palace Story

An initiative emerged in 2009 to re-introduce cinema to Royston. Royston Town Council refurbished the building whilst the town’s business, via Royston First, provided the cinema equipment. Of course, introducing 21st century technology into a Victorian building was no mean feat, but in the summer of 2013 the Royston Picture Palace opened its doors to much acclaim. The Royston Picture Palace is run by volunteers and performances take place on Friday and Saturday evenings, and occasional Saturday matinees, providing excellent value, quality entertainment for local people, just a few weeks after main release dates. Tickets £7.50 Concessions £5.50
