This film really is an audio and visual tour de force.

Friday 29th April at 7.30pm and Saturday 30th April at 7.30pm Dir: Oliver Parker | Country UK| Year 2016|140 mins Cast |Toby Jones, Bill Nighy, Catherine Zeta Jones Fans of the television show will be delighted to hear that Dads Army is back with an all-star cast. The Walmington-on-sea home guard deal with a visiting female journalist and a German spy as World War Two draws to its conclusion. This film has a familiar feel to the television show with the classic catch phrases but also stands alone as a funny and slapstick take on the home guard. Fans will not be disappointed.
Word from the Royston Picture Palace
Welcome once again to Royston Picture Palace. After an incredible February, the stand out films continue throughout March and April. We start March with the powerful Ron Howard adaptation of the Moby Dick story with In the Heart of the Sea, then there is another chance to see Star Wars The Force Awakens, before the cinema has a little break to transition to a new ticketing system. When we return Jennifer Lawrence gives a Golden Globe winning performance in Joy, before two more sells out of Lady in the Van, another chance to see The Bridge of Spies, with the month coming to a close with the Bafta winning Spotlight. Our April offering is packed with BAFTA winning films. Leading the way and favourite for the Oscar is The Revenant with Leonardo DiCaprio, our Children’s Saturday Matinee is Alvin and The Chipmunks – The Road Chip and we invite you to come along dressed as one of our loveable rodents. Brie Larson, successful at the BAFTAS and Golden Globes shines in Room, with further winners The Hateful Eight and The Big Short to follow. Michael Caine is as good as ever in the wonderful Youth, also starring Rachel Weiss, Harvey Keitel and Paul Dano with The Home Guard in the shape of Dad’s Army bringing up the rear to complete another amazing selection of films at the Picture Palace.
