in Pre-K and Kindergarten. Do YOU know why we call the Zimriyah a Songfest? Here are a few hints: zimriyah is from the root word
rnz ZEH-mehr • song, tune
(We learned another word for singing sheer rha which is also song or poem (n. m.). ) When describing a festival or performance, we add the iyah ending, as in a dance festival:

Though the dreidel is no longer part of our school logo, the glow of this Festival of Lights remains part of the school story, for with intelligence and resilience, courage and faith, we too, together, are daily recreating a sacred place of learning and living. On behalf of our trustees, faculty, and staff, Shabbat Shalom and chag u’rim sameach jna ohrut dj, have a happy Hanukkah – and a healthy winter break. Seth Linfield Head of School

Zimriyah/Songfest
“The Holiday of Light”
As the sun set yesterday, the curtain rose on our third annual Zimriyah, an impressive exhibit of song and dance celebrating the Jewish spirit. It was the culmination of an exciting, enthusiastic, and emotional day. From early morning, our halls were beyond filled with grandparents, special persons, and grandchildren, sharing the excitement of a day in school (see inside for more).

King Pins
Our Lehrman Lions (left, with Coach Aaron Corliss) took home the Jewish Athletic League Bowling Trophy, sweeping the tournament with two individual bowler high scores, and posting the best over all team score. Sr. Alvaro proudly displays the trophy (top right), and Coach Mark Ducek poses with the team at Holiday Lanes (bottom right).
Beyond the Halls of LCDS
Dining on Dickens We received nothing but kudos for Chef Pete’s Grandparents Day lunch and reception. Their grandchildren are served the same fine dining every day!
Ms. Ana and Ms. Michelle’s nursery schoolers think globally (and draw locally).
