FALL-WINTER TRENDS 2023 PLUME DE PAON NOVELTIES

rédéric Boucheron was fascinated with the beauty of nature, and he portrayed it in its every detail. One of the Maison’s historical motifs, the Plume de Paon, appeared at Boucheron for the first time in the 1860s on hair jewelry and brooches. A symbol of lightness, it constitutes a true challenge for the jeweler, who seeks to loyally render the movement, curves, volume and finesse of a natural peacock feather. More than a century-and-a-half later, the Creative Studio continues to reinvent the Plume de Paon. This season, the Maison pays tribute to its airy grace through ten new designs that nestle against the skin, in the hair, or along the ear, as if to murmur the Boucheron workshops’ secrets of savoirfaire.


WHAT’S NEW? Featherweight The use of titanium, a metal three times lighter than gold, enables the jewelry craftsmen to lighten up these new Plume de Paon pieces by a few precious grams, lending them an exquisite ethereality. Moreover, “openworking” – a signature technique of High Jewelry which consists of removing metal from beneath the stones – further lightens the piece and allows the light to filter through in both directions. The sparkle of diamonds and colored stones is greatly increased. Truer than life For the first time, the collection presents a gradation of colors that mirror those of a real peacock feather. These hues do not exclusively emanate from the diamonds, sapphires, tsavorites and tanzanites that are set into it. An anodization treatment is applied to the titanium to create the precious gradation of bluish greens that evanesces at the extremities. Anodization is a surface oxidation process that both protects and tints titanium. Airy litheness In a tribute to Frédéric Boucheron’s vision, the Studio designs incredibly realistic peacock feather creations that flutter with the lightest breeze. The various

parts of the feather are articulated with a special system that liberates each strand to sway independently, free as air. These individually hand-crafted details mimic the supple movement of plumage. New ways to wear it The Maison also expands its white gold and diamond collection. With a bracelet, ring, brooch, earrings and necklace, the Plume de Paon may be worn in new ways, keeping pace with today’s styles. Here, the iconic Question Mark necklace is reinterpreted for a choker version; there, an ear adornment offers a new asymmetrical look. THE CAMPAIGN To present these new Plume de Paon pieces, Boucheron releases the “Spread Your Wings” campaign featuring two of the Maison’s spokesmodels. Alexa Chung and Hannah Quinlivan float through the air, their movements accompanied by these designs, now lighter and more realistic than ever. The “Spread Your Wings” campaign will be shared with the world from August 31 to October 28, 2023, on the boucheron.com website, social media, and the Boucheron newsletter.

olls-Royce Motor Cars is delighted to present the RollsRoyce Black Badge Ghost Ékleipsis Private Collection, inspired by the seldom-seen wonder of a solar eclipse. Harnessing the incredible forces of this celestial phenomenon, these exquisite commissions explore the captivating interplay of light and darkness, recreating the awe-inspiring moment when the Moon completely obscures the Sun. The purity of Rolls-Royce Ghost, infused with the subversive Black Badge spirit, presents the RollsRoyce Bespoke Collective with the perfect canvas and limitless possibility to express the beauty of this wonder of the universe.

The launch of these highly Bespoke motor cars, limited to just 25 examples, coincides with the annular solar eclipse visible in parts of the Western Hemisphere on 14 October. EXTERIOR: GOLDEN DARKNESS The mysterious, ethereal light cast by a total solar eclipse is captured in the Lyrical Copper exterior colour of the motor car. This stunning Bespoke finish incorporates powdered copper pigment, which appears darker until it catches the light when it produces a rich and dramatic iridescence. Mandarin adorns the inserts below the Pantheon Grille and brake callipers, recalling the intense pulses of sunlight witnessed as the eclipse progresses. The same Mandarin hue is used for the hand-painted coachline,

which includes a delicate abstract representation of the transition from sunlight to darkness as the Moon approaches to cover the Sun. ANIMATED STARLIGHT HEADLINER The Rolls-Royce Black Badge Ghost Ékleipsis features a fully Bespoke Starlight Headliner with a special animation that, like the eclipse that inspires it, gives those inside a true sense of awe and wonder. As the coach doors close and the engine is started, the ‘stars’ in the

Starlight Headliner darken and a mesmerising sequence begins, replicating the totality of the solar eclipse, when the dark silhouette of the Moon completely obscures the bright light of the Sun. A circle of 940 ‘stars’ is formed, representing the bright corona of light around the lunar silhouette. This is surrounded by a further 192 illuminating ‘stars’, recreating the otherworldly spectacle of stars visible in the sky during daylight, which occurs only during a total solar eclipse. 23


Need for Speed

The animation remains visible for precisely seven minutes and 31 seconds – the longest possible duration of a total solar eclipse. Once this time has elapsed, the full constellation of ‘stars’ in the night sky is restored. This highly technical feature required a year of painstaking development, in which the Bespoke Collective produced three complete prototypes to perfect the design and sequencing of the ‘stars’. ILLUMINATED FASCIA AND ‘DIAMOND RING’ TIMEPIECE The illuminated fascia of RollsRoyce Black Badge Ghost Ékleipsis is adorned with 1,846 laser-etched ‘stars’ in a symbolic timeline of a total eclipse. A single Bespoke designer had sole responsibility for adjusting the individual size and position of each ‘star’ to create the mesmeric effect; a delicate and exacting process that took over 100 hours to complete. The composition culminates in a Bespoke timepiece, which incorporates a brilliant-cut 0.5-carat 24

diamond, recalling the ‘Diamond Ring’ effect, when a single, dazzling point of light can be seen on the Moon’s outline in the split seconds just before and immediately after it obscures the Sun. The bezel geometry has been modified to accommodate the precious gem, as this is the first time in Rolls-Royce history that a gemstone has been integrated into the clock’s bezel. The assembly underwent rigorous adhesion tests, which included climatic cell cycling from -30°C to +90°C, to ensure the diamond is robustly secured. The timepiece is finished with an etching on its dark aluminium surround, revealing the bright metal underneath. This beautiful piece of contemporary craftsmanship is the result of over 14 design iterations. PANORAMIC SUNSET INTERIOR At totality of a solar eclipse, there is a moment when a golden twilight surrounds those viewing the eclipse, giving the illusion of a 360-degree sunset. In Rolls-Royce

Black Badge Ghost Ékleipsis, the beauty of this rarely observed phenomenon is captured in bi-coloured seats with a unique perforated artwork, made of over 200,000 individual perforations. The bold Mandarin leather is tinted in a black shade that is then perforated to reveal the brighter contrasting colour beneath, creating a visual effect with extraordinary depth and subtlety. Using computational design tools, the Bespoke Collective developed a unique pattern, which was then manually refined over seven trials and iterations. Bespoke finishing touches include illuminated treadplates, umbrellas with Mandarin piping concealed in the coach doors, and a unique indoor motor car cover bearing the Private Collection’s wordmark. All 25 examples of the Rolls-Royce Black Badge Ghost Ékleipsis Private Collection have been allocated to clients around the world.

DYNAMIQ PRESENTS A FUTURISTIC 55-METER ECO-EXPLORER

ynamiq is proud to present the Global 550, a modern age go-anywhere explorer with a penchant for subtle luxury. This 55-meter superyacht reinvents unrestricted globetrotting and presents a great alternative to similar boats on the market. It sets a new standard for efficiency with a strong and light all-aluminium hull, powered by two incredibly efficient 625 kW Volvo Penta heavy duty engines that allow it to easily

reach an almost double transatlantic range on one tank, exceeding 5,000 nm. As a true explorer she is highly autonomous, boasting a huge 21,000 l fresh water tanks and numerous storage spaces throughout the yacht. The specification includes the latest technologies for ultimate comfort on board. Four stabilizer fins, compared to the industry norm of two, paired with a Hull Vane allow for incredible pitch and roll minimization, resulting in smooth sailing for the client, regardless of sea conditions. A low environmental footprint is achieved not only through the use of much smaller IMO Tier III engines and battery system, but also due to the latest filtration solutions for exhaust gases and water treatment. The standout feature on this superyacht is the special attention paid to nature observation: panoramic lounges on every deck (with the highest being up at the crow’s nest), underwater drones and even a telescope. Other great features include a fully commercially-certified helipad, an exuberant spa area complete with hammam and sauna and a spacious owner’s office on the main deck forward that doubles as an observation lounge. The most meaningful part of this is that

everything has been packed into under 500 GT. Another key feature of this project is the entry of ZROBIM architects, modern residential designers into the yachting world, who have translated their mastery of design on land to the sea in their superyacht interior design debut.

While designing for Dynamiq, ZROBIM architects have focused on playing with the idea of quiet luxury, based on high-end consumers having adapted their priorities and behavior, striving to make choices in favor of a more environmentally-friendly and sustainable lifestyle. In light of this, ZROBIM architects explored the rising trend “natural

minimalism”. The inclusion of natural elements in the design, such as American oak, wenge and dark Shimo ash, stops the interiors slipping into cold austerity and makes them cozy, tactile and enveloping. Since the superyacht is designed for long-term sailing in cold waters, ZROBIM architects wanted this long voyage to maintain a feeling of home in the farthest corners 39

of the world, closeness to the earth and to be associated with comfort, coziness and mental well-being. The interior was inspired by the shape of a glacier and remote mountain ranges. For example, illuminated Golden Queen onyx washbasins resemble a glacier going under water. In the interior as a whole there is a lot of stone of varying textures, we worked on complex combinations with color inclusions, for example, Arabescato Orobico Grigio and Spider green marbles. 40

The individuality and unique mood of the interior are set by art objects made of aged wood and wall decoration with textured wooden panels of various shapes, which, in addition to aesthetics, also have the function of zoning the yacht. The perfect complements to this natural scene are the views of the sea through the full height windows and large outdoor terraces, harmoniously combining the exterior and interior of a super-technological and modern facility for sea travel. Exterior design was executed by the Monaco-based studio

Dobroserdov Design, while longterm Dynamiq partners Vripack Design are responsible for the naval architecture and have applied the highest Dutch standards in the engineering of this superyacht. Construction time of the Global 550 is 30 months from contract signature. The listing price for this BV commercial and fully REG compliant superyacht is 27,900,000 EUR, which is valid until the end of 2023. The world premiere of this project will occur at Dynamiq’s stand during the coming Monaco Yacht Show.

T

he Montblanc StarWalker writing instrument collection evokes humankind’s fascination with space exploration and the wonder of walking among the stars. Just like those who push the limits of technological advancement and human knowledge on earth and in space, Montblanc explores a variety of different materials and techniques with every edition. Turning from Planet Earth towards the stars and the galaxy, StarWalker SpaceBlue is inspired by materials originating from space, namely the Widmanstätten pattern, considered among nature’s most hypnotic creations. The central design focus of the new edition is a rendition of this mesmerizing Widmanstätten pattern, named after Viennese scientist Count Alois von Beckh Widmanstätten who was one of the first people to discover and study the phenomenon in 1808. While flame heating iron meteorites, he noticed color and luster zone differentiation as the various iron alloys oxidized at different rates, showcasing fine interleaving kamacite and taenite bands or ribbons called lamellae. A pattern that forms only deep inside planetary bodies that take years to cool down, it has been recreated by Montblanc artisans on precious resin by using a newly developed injection moulding tool, and on metal by etching – creating an elevated sensorial writing experience. The tactile custom pattern is paired with a midnight blue hue evoking the night sky, a moment before it is lit up by the passage of a meteorite. A signature StarWalker collection design feature, each piece is crowned with a floating Montblanc emblem above a translucent smoky blue in a transparent cap top.

The StarWalker SpaceBlue collection includes three different writing instrument editions – a Resin edition made of matte patterned blue precious resin with dark ruthenium-coated fittings, a Doué edition that pairs a


patterned precious resin barrel with a metal cap, and a Metal edition entirely in patterned metal. Each edition is available as a Ballpoint, Fineliner and Fountain Pen featuring a ruthenium-coated Au 585 nib and fitted with a piston converter engineered specifically for the StarWalker collection and compatible with previous models. To enhance the StarWalker SpaceBlue writing experience, Montblanc is introducing a blue leather lined notebook featuring the distinctive pattern on its cover, as well as a matching dark blue ink. A pair of cufflinks in steel and lacquer with the signature StarWalker translucent dome design complete the collection. Our menu offering year round centres around flavour, and the flavour of Christmas in Australia is stone fruits, including cherries, nectarines, apricots. There’s also those traditional flavours that are incorporated including spices such as cloves and star anise that highlight those mulled wine tastes.

Growing up, Christmas for me was all about family and an abundance of food. Whole roast pigs, glazed hams, all the sides, and all the trimmings, so I wanted to deliver a feast for all the senses. Some of the highlights guests can expect to see include masses of seafood including fresh prawns, oysters and lobster rolls, followed by the whiskey glazed hams. To finish will be an impressive chocolate smash station, where they can smash their way through chocolate baubles and Santas.

A modern take on a traditional Christmas to us really focuses on the wellknown flavours, but delivering them with a few innovative techniques. Weve adapted a lot of slow cooking methods, like a sous vide turkey that has been in brine overnight, and rolled in to a roulade shape. Usually you will use a stuffing of rosemary and fennel – but we’ve used mince tarts with a dried fruit flavour soaked in rum, thyme and orange zest. We’re really proud of our Festive Feast this year and we know our guests are going to look at this spread and say, ‘Wow, I wish Christmas Day at my house looked like this’.

MAHMOUDIA MOTORS PARTNERS WITH WOMOTIVE INITIATIVE TO “MARKETING WITH AN AUTOMOTIVE EYE” WORKSHOP

n August 26th, WOMOTIVE Initiative, the CSR arm of transportation design studio Concepts 4 Automotive Design, partnered with Mahmoudia Motors, the official and exclusive retailer of Jaguar Land Rover vehicles in Jordan, to host “Marketing with an Automotive EYE,” a workshop dedicated to highlighting the role of marketers in the automotive industry. The workshop aimed to showcase what it takes to work within the marketing department of dealerships, dealing with global brands while understanding ways to adapt to the local market. This workshop is part of WOMOTIVE’s training programs designed to cater to women. However, for the first time, the workshop was opened to everyone to highlight the importance of equality in the automotive industry and portray real-life expectations of building a career in this domain. Eng. Reem AL-Smeirat, founder of the initiative and the first female car designer in the Middle East, noticed a gap between real-life experiences and what is being taught at universities. She found it challenging to find fresh graduates who could take on leadership roles while working under the umbrella of international automotive brands. This could be due to a lack of understanding of the industry from a technical

perspective or a lack of understanding of the true meaning behind marketing pillars and new forms of digital marketing trends. Ms. Bayan Dudin, the marketing and CRM manager at Mahmoudia Motors, joined forces with Reem, JLR, and the initiative to carefully design and engineer an interactive workshop given from the perspective of experts who worked in the marketing field of automotive in Jordan. The workshop featured experts such as Fawaz Dahdal, Luma Khaliefah, Hani Kanash, and Mosab Jaber, who helped participants draw a better picture of marketing from an automotive marketing perspective. The workshop consisted of seven sessions, each focusing on different aspects of the marketing industry. At the end of the day, the 28 participants from different educational backgrounds gained useful insights, appreciating the value of the marketing department and most importantly, how passion was the keyword behind every successful career and campaign.
