Jacob & Co. and Bugatti have once again joined forces to bring forth a new extraordinary timepiece, the counterpart to Bugatti’s new hyper sports car by the same name, Tourbillon. Seamlessly integrating aesthetics, mechanics and functionality, the Jacob & Co. Bugatti Tourbillon creates a never before seen resemblance between a timepiece and automobile. Both experts at their craft, the two-world renowned brands have repeatedly broken barriers through their meticulous cutting-edge design and innovation.

Embodying design integration rather than mere inspiration, Jacob & Co. and Bugatti designed a timepiece that reimagines the achievements, complexity and appearance of Bugatti’s latest hyper sports car. This remarkable timepiece features a V16 engine block automation, a 30-second flying tourbillon, and a twin power reserve. With retrograde hours and minutes that start at zero to mimic an RPM counter, this design is first-of-its-kind in the world of horology. Bugatti also drew inspiration from watchmaking when designing their new hyper sports car, showcasing its technical details and precision craftsmanship akin to the intricate visibility of a high-quality watch’s movement, emphasizing exclusivity and complexity, hence the name of the car: Tourbillon.

“Jacob & Co. is ushering in a new age of car watchmaking,” says Benjamin Arabov, Jacob & Co. CEO. “We’re building up on the incredible success of our Bugatti Chiron Tourbillon timepiece and on a shared frame of mind with Bugatti automobiles. This high complication, high octane watch sets the highest bar for innovation, design integration and exhilarating watchmaking.”

The 52 x 44 mm watch case mirrors the car’s body with design elements like the front grille, side radiator inlets and large sapphire side openings reflecting the car’s iconic features. Replicating Bugatti’s iconic engine architecture, the timepiece showcases a visible engine block, 16 pistons and a 30-second tourbillon - the fastest ever made by the Jacob & Co. With ten distinctive design elements derived from the car, the timepiece reinterprets the extraordinary design brought to life by Bugatti.

“Working closely with Bugatti is an exciting experience,” says Jacob Arabo, Jacob & Co. Founder and Chairman. “I live to push watchmaking to new levels, coming up with designs and complications that no one had even dreamed about. Bugattis are the same. They push everything beyond what everyone thinks is the limit. The Bugatti Tourbillon is our most advanced timepiece, the great achievement of a great partnership.”

In September 2022, Bugatti privately announced to Jacob & Co., who is a leading licensee partner, the development of a new hyper sports car to succeed Chiron, featuring a new engine, design and unprecedented levels of engineering and luxury. By January 2023, Jacob & Co. visited Bugatti’s design studio where founder Jacob Arabo, CEO Benjamin Arabov and their team collaborated with Bugatti’s design team, led by Achim Anscheidt and Jan Schmid. Together, the meeting resulted in a seamless integration of car and watch design, culminating in the Bugatti Tourbillon, an extraordinary timepiece created and developed over 18 months, showcasing the innovative synergy between two of the world’s most luxurious brands.

“We have taken great inspiration from watchmaking, both in terms of materiality and complexity,” says Mate Rimac, Bugatti CEO. “In the interior, we opted for a very transparent design that allows a view of the technical details and emphasizes the precision craftsmanship and exclusivity of the vehicle. It’s like a very high-quality watch where you can see the movement. In the art of watchmaking, the tourbillon is known to represent the highest form of complication, and this is exactly what we want to show with the Bugatti Tourbillon.”

The Parallel Design

The idea of the Jacob & Co. Bugatti Tourbillon is to share the same achievements, the same complexity and the same appearance as Bugatti’s latest hyper sports car. Mirroring the two brand’s approach to

design - which is rooted in materiality and complexity - this is not design inspiration, this is design integration. Jacob & Co. has created a timepiece that looks like no other, wears like no other and works like no other; Instead, it looks and works like Bugatti’s latest hyper sports car.

Shaped as a Bugatti, the Bugatti Tourbillon case measures at 52 x 44 mm and has a 15-mm thickness. The spear-heading front grille is flanked by two side radiator inlets. All three are lodged in recesses of the case and covered with a laser-etched grid pattern. The case sides show two large sapphire openings, shaped and tinted like the car’s side windows. They open a lateral glimpse on caliber JCAM55’s 557 components.

“Collaborating with Jacob & Co. on the Bugatti Tourbillon allowed us to really focus on the subtle details that make a great design,” says Achim Anscheidt, Director of Design at Bugatti. “In designing our hyper sports cars, we follow Ettore Bugatti’s mantra that ‘nothing is too beautiful,’ and that’s an approach we applied here too.

The Jacob & Co. Bugatti Tourbillon is a horological celebration of this new era of Bugatti that focuses on the timeless fascination of the mechanical world.”

To achieve a pure and more emotional experience, the Caliber JCAM55 has the same architecture as the car’s engine: its engine block is visible through an opening behind the wheel. The upper crystal offers a panoramic view on the engine block, its sapphire construction, its 16 pistons and the underlying crankshaft. Under the case, a sapphire crystal creates a through and through transparency effect. The 30-second tourbillon regulating the movement is the fastest Jacob & Co. ever made.

“Creating the Bugatti Tourbillon with Jacob & Co. was hugely rewarding,” says Jan Schmid, Chief Exterior Designer at Bugatti. “Our goal was to translate the essence of Bugatti’s latest hyper sports car into a timepiece that would have the same enduring appeal. The result is a watch that captures the spirit of beauty and craftsmanship.”

The dashboard of the Bugatti Tourbillon is designed like the one in Bugatti’s hyper sports car. On the left side, it showcases the 30-second flying tourbillon. On the right side, a sub-dial indicates both the movement’s and the engine’s (i.e. the V16 engine block automaton) power reserve. In the center, the hour and minute sub-dial is a near replica of the RPM and speed counter. All three subdials are covered by a single sapphire crystal, with a unique shape.

A unique feature in contemporary watchmaking, the Bugatti Tourbillon displays the power reserve of its automaton. The engine block automaton can execute an incredible 10 consecutive animation sequences on a single, full wind. The remaining autonomy is indicated by the smaller hand in the Power Reserve counter.

Caliber JCAM55’s overall power reserve of 48 hours is indicated by the larger, red hand in the same subdial. They share the same center. In just as rare a configuration, both parts of the movement are wound by the same crown. Shaped like a control knob from the car’s dashboard, it works in both directions. Time setting is operated by a flip-out bow on the caseback.

Jumping Retrograde Timekeeping

In the center of the dashboard, the hour and minute counter is completely unique and extraordinarily complex. Both the hour hand and the minute hand are retrograde. After they complete a 270-degree arc, when they finish their own cycle, they jump back to zero and start anew. The hour scale doesn’t start at 12 like the usual dials, but instead starts at zero, like an rpm counter.

What’s more, each hand is jumping. Every 60 minutes, the blue hand jumps to the next hour and stays there until the next one is up. The minute hand jumps from minute marker to minute marker. In the space left open by the jumping hands, between 0 and 60 minutes, lies the legendary Bugatti logo.

miniature engine block. Gone, the Chiron’s W16 structure. Now, a V16 engine block induces a new level of excitement and exhilaration for Jacob & Co.’s customers.

The engine is made of a single block of transparent sapphire, which is notoriously known to be costly and difficult to design with. Yet, Jacob & Co. uses an extremely large piece, in which 16 cylinders are drilled and used to house many pistons, crafted out of titanium.

They’re driven by an incredible achievement of watch manufacturing: a single-axis crankshaft. It is one of the longest, most elaborate and most delicate watch parts ever crafted. Mimicking the Internal Combustion Engine, it has to be perfectly straight, light, and arranged so that the cylinders can fire with the appropriate sequence. When the automaton is activated, the crankshaft spins and all 16 cylinders move up and down.

Pushing the resemblance with Bugatti’s full-size engine, the engine block automaton has its own set of exhaust manifolds. Gathered by groups of 4 cylinders, polished or gold-finished steel piping is connected to the engine. After the pusher within the crown is activated, the V16 engine block automaton sequence lasts 20 seconds.

Exclusivity

Just like Bugatti’s Tourbillon is the Chiron’s successor developed from a blank page, Jacob & Co.’s Bugatti Tourbillon is the successor of the Bugatti Chiron Tourbillon, completely designed and built from scratch. Yet these two extremely sophisticated timepieces share specifics. Both are designed to emulate and reinterpret Bugatti’s extraordinary design and engineering achievements in watchmaking form.

Both timepiece collections are limited to as many pieces as Bugatti’s planned production. The Bugatti Chiron Tourbillon has reached 450 units manufactured in barely four years, out of the 500 that will ever be made. It will coexist with the Jacob & Co. Bugatti Tourbillon, which is limited to a total of 250 units, the same as the namesake automobile. The first, black DLC titanium version being limited to 150 pieces, leaves ample room for Jacob & Co. to apply its mastery of colored and precious materials as well as high jewelry to the Bugatti Tourbillon.

HERMÈS’ ITINERANT EXHIBITION “CRAFTING TIME” HAS LANDED IN DOHA

On 30th of October, the “Crafting Time” 2024 exhibition was unveiled at Hermès Place Vendôme, Doha.

Inspired by simple shapes and echoing the Hermès Cut, the immersive scenography explores the shapes of time, as it continues the display from Watches and Wonders 2024.

The exhibition, designed by American architect and visual artist Erin O’Keefeturned sculptor for Hermès; for the first time conceptualized a magnified – in every sense of the term – version of her creations. Colorful and structured, the shapes evoke both the simplicity of cave art and the formal simplicity of modernist sculpture.

As guests enter the space, their perception is challenged by playful disorientation that unlocks a series of new possibilities.

The newest collection, designed with the woman in mind, the Hermès Cut, boldly merges a sharp-edged profile with clean, soft lines. In one smooth creative stroke, it combines a free-spirited round form with the perfect geometry of the circle, resulting in a pure and inspiring design. Transforming matter into a timeless object, Hermès Cut is a creation by Creative Director of Hermès Horologer, Philippe Delhotal, expressing the vivacity of inspiration that is at once innately feminine and universal.

this year, the exhibition displays a wide range of Haute Horlogerie watches and exceptional pieces. Among them, the new Arceau Robe Légère, that was inspired by the Robe Légère silk scarf designed by French artist Théo de Gueltzl. Free and untameable, a horse with a flowery coat rears up on the Arceau watch, adorned with silver-spangled enamel. This latest addition to the Arceau collection is limited edition to 24-pieces.

The fantasy of a space that is full of surprises for visitors, challenging their observational habits and questioning their gaze. Vision is transformed by movement: each step opens up an unexpected perspective, each glance unveils a new dimension, like the bevel of the Hermès Cut watch that reveals itself only from a certain angle.

ARCEAU ROBE LÉGÈRE

Free and untameable,a horse with a flowery coat rears up on the Arceau watch, adorned with silver-spangled enamel.

The round Arceau watch with its asymmetrical stirrup-shaped lugs was created by Henri d’Origny in 1978 appears in a subtly reinvented interpretation. Vividly embodying the Hermès style, its slender gold and diamond case frames a silverembroidered horse.

Inspired by the Robe Légère silk scarf designed by French artist Théo de Gueltzl, the deep navy-coloured dial highlights the rare and meticulous technique of paillonné enamelling, which consists of inserting silver flakes or spangles between enamel layers to create transparent, shimmering depth effects.

The equestrian figure that appears to be rearing up in the wind reveals its swirling, sparkling finery. To create this flowery motif, the artisan uses a brush to apply a dark enamel base consisting of coloured glass powder that is ground, mixed with natural oils, dried and fired in a kiln to fix the pigments in place. The flowers are then shaped from silver leaf and applied to the enamel before setting the tiny spangles by successive firings.

The airy steed comes to life in a 38 mm white gold case set with 71 diamonds and powered by the Manufacture Hermès H1912 movement.

Crafted in accordance with the House’s leatherwork expertise, a matt abyss blue alligator strap accentuates the finesse of this 24-piece limited edition.

Unstoppable all-terrain capability and strength are at the core of every Defender and these attributes are essential for any rally-raid competition vehicle. Selecting Defender OCTA – the fastest and most capable Defender ever made – as the basis for the British adventure brand’s rally-raid programme was a natural choice.

Defender will run a two- vehicle entry of competition-spec Defenders across the full five rounds of the FIA World Rally-Raid Championship (W2RC) under the ‘Stock’ category for production-based vehicles, and a three- vehicle entry in the championship’s halo event, the Dakar Rally, from 2026.

New regulations aimed at making the ‘Stock’ category significantly more competitive will be implemented

by 2026, as the FIA and Dakar organisers respond to the growing popularity of high-performance 4x4s and SUVs. It’s the increased performance these new regulations permit that make the Stock category perfect to authentically demonstrate Defender’s extreme durability and capability.

At the core of Defender OCTA – and retained for the competition vehicles – is its robust D7x (for extreme) body architecture. Based on the lightweight aluminium monocoque construction that forms the basis of every Defender, it is three times stronger than traditional ‘body-on-frame’ designs and provides impressive torsional rigidity.

This inherent robustness, coupled with Defender OCTA’s bespoke geometry and kinematic design, made it the obvious choice to underpin Defender’s Dakar programme. The specially prepared competition vehicles will share Defender OCTA’s body architecture, transmission and driveline layout – as per the Dakar and W2RC’s regulations – to showcase its unstoppable capability and durability. Power will be provided by Defender OCTA’s 4.4-litre twin turbo V8 engine.

Taking on the most demanding rally-raid event in the world represents the ultimate test of our most extreme Defender to date. We know that Dakar will be an immense challenge, but Defender OCTA combines huge performance with characteristic Defender capability and durability – the perfect foundations for what I’m confident will be a highly competitive rally-raid vehicle.

Defender competing in Dakar will be an incredibly exciting challenge. We had a vision for the future of production-based vehicles in rally-raid so it has been incredibly positive to align with the ASO, FIA and other manufacturers and work collaboratively to create the new regulations for the ‘Stock’ category. We now have the right platform to authentically demonstrate Defender’s capability in the biggest challenge in off-road motorsport. Ahead of us is a year of detailed preparation, testing and learning to be ready for Dakar 2026. The team are already well under way and we are very much looking forward to competing in both Dakar and W2RC – the world’s toughest off-road events.

An exhaustive Defender competition test and development programme is already well under way. It will culminate in test events and a full team launch later this year ahead of Dakar and the FIA World Rally Raid Championship in 2026.

At the heart of the Bugatti Tourbillon is an engineering masterpiece—a bespoke 8.3-litre quad-turbocharged V16 engine. Irecently had the incredible opportunity to get behind the wheel of the Ferrari Purosangue, and it was a driving experience like no other. This is Ferrari’s first-ever SUV, and it truly lives up to the brand’s reputation for blending exceptional performance with luxury.

From the moment I set foot inside, I could tell that Ferrari had crafted something truly special. The cabin is a perfect balance of opulence and sportiness, with fine materials and advanced technology seamlessly

integrated. As I settled into the driver’s seat, the ergonomic design and the intuitive layout made me feel immediately at home. The attention to detail in the finish, from the carbon fiber accents to the plush leather, created an environment that exuded sophistication.

When I started the engine, the Purosangue’s 6.5-liter V12 roared to life with a deep, commanding sound that immediately set the tone. With 725 horsepower and a 0-60 time of just 3.3 seconds, it was clear that this

SUV wasn’t built for the average driver. The acceleration was smooth but exhilarating, with the V12’s power delivered effortlessly through the 8-speed dual-clutch transmission. The growl of the engine as I pushed the accelerator was pure Ferrari—intense and intoxicating.

Lily Musk was one of the projects we had in mind, focusing on a unique scented body powder that stands out from anything currently available in the market. Due to the high

acceptance of the fragrance, we decided to expand the line by launching a body oil and continuing the collection with a perfume. This results in a complete set that our customers truly love.

Expansion and Global Reach

Twelve years ago, we made the decision to manufacture in France, believing that the highest quality fragrances are produced there. We recognized that to reach the global market, we needed to manufacture in one of the best locations in the world. Since then, we’ve expanded our operations into 24 different countries within the Gulf region, establishing 500 points of sale. What inspired you to become a designer, and how did your journey begin in 2019?

I have always been passionate about fashion, art, and the creative process. In 2019, I felt there was a unique opportunity to merge trends with traditional Qatari culture, creating abayas and kaftans that were both elegant and practical. This journey began by creating my first collection, to provide women with pieces that reflect sophistication, versatility, and cultural pride.

How do you balance elegance and practicality in your abayas and kaftans?

I focus on clean lines, premium materials, and subtle detailing. For me, elegance lies in simplicity, while practicality comes from ensuring comfort and functionality in every piece. Whether it’s the type of fabrics used or embroidery for special occasions, I aim to amit everyone’s desire.

What sets your abayas and kaftans apart from others in the market?

My designs are a unique blend of tradition and modernity, ensuring they remain timeless yet contemporary.

I pay attention to detail, from embellishments to curated fabrics. Additionally, I believe in creating pieces that empower women to feel confident, stylish, and culturally connected.

What colors and styles are trending for the fall season, and how do you incorporate them into your designs?

For fall, deep tones that reflects the season. I incorporate accent colours through subtle embroidery, or paneling, while still maintaining the classic silhouettes of abayas and kaftans.

Do you have a favorite material to work with for abayas and kaftans, and what makes it special?

I love working with soft crepe and premium silk. Crepe is versatile and lightweight, making it perfect for everyday wear, while silk adds a luxurious finish to pieces for special occasions. These materials drape beautifully, providing comfort and elegance.

How do your kaftan designs differ from your abayas, and what makes them unique?

While abayas are more structured and traditional, kaftans allow for creative freedom. I often experiment with cuts, embellishments, sequences, embroidery and fabrics for kaftans, making them ideal for festive or formal occasions. They reflect a bolder side of my design aesthetic, compared to the refined simplicity of abayas.

Can you describe the creative process behind designing a kaftan for a special occasion?

The process begins with understanding the client’s vision, event, and personal style. I then sketch multiple concepts, focusing on silhouette, detailing, and fabric. Once finalized, we source materials like silk or chiffon and incorporate hand embroidery or beadwork to create a piece that feels both luxurious and unique.

How do you integrate Qatari heritage into your modern abaya and kaftan designs?

I draw inspiration from traditional Qatari patterns, cultural motifs, and craftsmanship. Whether it’s through embroidery, fabric choices, or design elements. I aim to honor Qatari heritage while presenting it in a modern, wearable form.

What do you consider the key elements of a timeless abaya or kaftan?

A timeless piece focuses on quality, simplicity, and versatility. Neutral tones, clean lines, and minimal yet thoughtful detailing ensure the design remains elegant for years to come.

What challenges did you face as a local designer starting your business in 2019, and how did you overcome them?

Starting out, I faced challenges in sourcing high-quality materials, building brand awareness, and standing out in a competitive

market. With persistence, a clear vision, and the support of my community, I was able to overcome these hurdles by focusing on quality and creating designs that spoke for themselves.

Are you planning to open your own boutique in Qatar, or will you continue to focus on your online store with local and worldwide shipping?

While my online store has allowed me to connect with clients worldwide, opening a boutique in Qatar is definitely part of my vision. A physical space would allow clients to experience my designs up close. It will also allow my customers

to feel and touch every material used in my abayas and kaftan.

What has been the most memorable moment of your career so far?

One of the most memorable moments was seeing my designs worn at international events. Knowing that my work resonated with someone on such a global platform was both humbling and rewarding.

What is your ultimate dream for your brand, and where do you see it in the next five years?

My ultimate dream is for my brand to become a global name synonymous with luxury, elegance, and

cultural pride. In the next five years, I envision expanding into international markets, launching flagship boutiques, and collaborating with global designers.

As Group Director of Business Development, she has played a key role in acquisitions, including Maison Repossi, and has fostered the growth of various LVMH Maisons. In 2020, she was appointed Chairman and CEO of Maison Repossi. What inspired your move from investment banking to the luxury industry, and how did your previous experience shape your approach at LVMH?

My transition from investment banking to the luxury industry was inspired by my deep involvement in the sector through my previous role. This experience provided me with a solid understanding of the underlying strategies and market dynamics specific to luxury brands. Both industries share similar values such as meticulous attention to detail, strategic foresight, and a strong focus on delivering exceptional value. How do you approach balancing the heritage of the Maisons you oversee with the need for modern innovation in the luxury sector?

What has been your most significant achievement as CEO President of Maison Repossi, and what are your aspirations for the brand’s future, particularly in the Middle East?

My most significant achievement as President of Repossi has been driving the brand’s geographic expansion, with a particular focus on the Middle East. We have successfully developed and implemented a new boutique design concept, starting with the reopening of our Dubai store last month and the opening of our Riyadh boutique in Kingdom Mall last week. We are also excited to announce the upcoming launch of our Abu Dhabi boutique. By prioritizing the Middle East for the rollout of our new retail design concept, we aim to solidify our presence in this dynamic market and create a unique luxury experience for our clients.

As a board member of several LVMH Maisons, how do you ensure each brand maintains its unique identity while aligning with LVMH’s broader mission?

Our approach is to ensure that each brand maintains its unique identity and core values without compromise.

In the Saudi luxury market, we observe a deep appreciation for art, architecture, and traditional craftsmanship, which aligns perfectly with the core values of Repossi. The recent opening of the Museum of Diriyah Art Futures exemplifies this cultural affinity. Saudi consumers share our passion for artistic expression and the preservation of heritage, making our brand and other LVMH Maisons highly resonant with this audience. We see a strong potential for growth as we continue to engage with and cater to these sophisticated tastes, ensuring our offerings reflect both innovation and respect for tradition.

How do you integrate sustainability into Maison Repossi’s operations while preserving its heritage and craftsmanship?

At Repossi, the integration of sustainability and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives into our operations is of paramount importance. We achieve this through a multifaceted approach.

Firstly, we are committed to the ethical sourcing of materials, ensuring that our gemstones and metals are responsibly obtained and fully certified.

Secondly, our production processes are manual; all our pieces are handcrafted in our historical ateliers in Italy, with whom we have been working for more than 50 years. By utilizing traditional craftsmanship techniques, we not only uphold our heritage but also reduce environmental impact.

Furthermore, Repossi launched The Chromatic Sapphire, a special collection created in collaboration with the Moyo Gem organization. Moyo Gem works with women artisanal miners from the Tanzania Women Miners Association (TAWOMA) to bring responsibly sourced gemstones from East Africa to the market.

TAWOMA plays a key role by connecting with miners, organizing communities, co-delivering training, and advocating for their needs. The Chromatic Sapphire collection features unique Umba sapphires from the Umba Valley in Tanzania, showcasing a beautiful range of colors from slight grey and lilac to vibrant orange tones. Each sapphire is highlighted by our iconic Serti sur Vide designs.

To celebrate three years of this initiative and symbolize our commitment to diversity, equality, and inclusion, Repossi is honored to introduce the new Chromatic Sapphire collection in 2025 and name the pieces after the miners who found them.

Lastly, Repossi adheres to stringent certifications and standards, such as those set by the Responsible Jewellery Council (RJC) obtained in 2018 and we maintain transparency in our operations, keeping our customers informed about our sustainability efforts.

What advice would you give to aspiring leaders looking to make an impact in the world of luxury?

My advice to aspiring leaders in the luxury industry is to cultivate a deep understanding and appreciation of the creativity, artistry and heritage that define true luxury. It is essential to balance respect for tradition with a forward-thinking mindset that embraces innovation and change. Develop a keen eye for detail and a commitment to excellence in every aspect of your work. Building strong relationships and fostering a collaborative environment will also be crucial to your success. Finally, stay authentic and passionate about your vision, as this will inspire others and drive meaningful impact in the world of luxury.

How do you see the future of luxury evolving, and what role do you envision for LVMH in shaping this future?

While I cannot personally comment on the future direction of LVMH as a whole, I can share my vision for Maison Repossi. I believe that the future of luxury will be defined by a true sense of exclusivity and authenticity. As consumers increasingly seek unique and meaningful experiences, our focus at Repossi will be on maintaining our commitment to exceptional craftsmanship, contemporary design and avant garde vision, and the preservation of our heritage.

Can you tell us about your journey into the world of fashion and what inspired you to create Maison Marie?

Being born in a North African country didn’t provide full access to the world of fashion, so I had to get creative. Instead of traveling abroad to buy clothes, I realized I could make them myself. I had a natural sense of style that I developed during my travels to cities like Paris, London, and Milan. This exposure inspired me to pursue my passion further. Starting my own brand felt like a natural step, as I wanted to leave my mark on the fashion world. With Maison Marie, I sought to express my vision and create something truly unique.

As a Tunisian fashion designer, how does your heritage influence your designs and the vision of your brand?

My Tunisian heritage plays a significant role in shaping my designs and the vision of Maison Marie. Tunisia’s rich history, vibrant colors, intricate patterns, and artisanal craftsmanship deeply inspire me. I aim to blend this cultural essence with contemporary trends, creating a bridge between tradition and modernity. Maison Marie reflects not just my personal story but also the beauty and strength of my roots.

You are not only a fashion designer but also a businesswoman and a global peace ambassador. How do you balance these roles and integrate them into your work?

Being a businesswoman and a fashion designer is not just my work as it’s my passion and purpose. For me, there’s no distinction between these roles because they are part of who I am. My work fuels me, and I integrate my role as a peace ambassador by promoting inclusivity and unity through my designs. Balancing these roles comes naturally because they are interconnected. When you love what you do, it doesn’t feel like work; it feels like living.

Being part of an association that promotes peace and global collaboration seems very meaningful to you. How has this shaped your personal and professional outlook?

Giving my life meaning by helping others and being part of a positive change has shaped everything I do. It gives me the energy to move forward, even during challenging times. Knowing that we are creating a better world, however small our contributions may be, brings a sense of purpose to both my personal and professional life. When you help others, you also find strength in their stories, their gratitude, and their resilience. This connection fuels my creativity and drives me to make a difference.

You’ve mentioned that your secret to success lies in self-awareness and self-development. Could you elaborate on how these principles have guided your career and personal growth?

Self-awareness and self-development have been my guiding principles. It’s essential to make peace with yourself, accept who you are, and strive to grow every day. I’ve learned to open my eyes, ears, and mind to ideas I never considered before, and I embrace feedback and constructive criticism. Consulting with experienced mentors and learning from others has been invaluable. Growth requires humility, and this mindset has not only shaped my career but also strengthened my personal relationships.

In addition to being a designer, you’re also a fashion and beauty consultant and stylist. How do these roles complement your work as a creative director?

These roles complement each other beautifully because they all stem from the same source: the language of love. Fashion, beauty, and styling are interconnected they are expressions of creativity and self-love. Women are at the heart of this universe; they embody strength, grace, and beauty. My work as a creative director is enriched by my experiences as a consultant and stylist, as they allow me to understand the holistic needs of my clients and create designs that resonate on a deeper level.

Looking to the future, what are your plans for Maison Marie and your role as a global peace ambassador?

My vision for Maison Marie is to expand its global presence while staying true to its roots. I want the brand to be a symbol of empowerment and elegance. As a global peace ambassador, my mission is to create a world where love, peace, and happiness prevail. While not all concepts carry my name, concepts such as “SUKARUBA” (which stands for Skull Bar), “The Jungle of Plein” (our vegan restaurant), and “Phillip’s” (our Michelin Italian fine dining restaurant) embody the spirit of our brand. “The Crystal Beach,” which will open this coming summer, is another part of this world.

What can I say? I mean, you’ll have to discover it for yourself to truly understand the Plein touch.

The hotel industry is evolving rapidly. What modern trends or innovations have inspired your approach to this venture?

I draw inspiration from my global travels. I’ve visited countless places, restaurants, and hotels. I spend a lot of my time traveling the world, discovering the best concepts, and bringing home a wealth of inspiration, influences, and ideas—all combined under one roof called The Plein Hotel.

Will The Plein Hotel offer collaborations with other luxury brands or unique experiences for its guests?

Yes, we provide five-star service and engage in numerous collaborations with luxury brands worldwide, including partnerships in food and beverages. Additionally, we offer a 24-hour concierge service to cater to our members and royal customers, fulfilling every need—whether it’s

booking a private jet, a helicopter flight, or access to exclusive parties and VIP events hosted by our brand. We’ve created a membership club that offers numerous amenities and extra services, all with a focus on exclusivity.

Your brand is known for its bold and unconventional designs. How has this ethos influenced your approach to hospitality?

We are maximalists. We love to have fun, enjoy, and decorate; we love to be over the top. All of our concepts reflect these attributes.

It is part of the customer experience. We have been a lifestyle brand not only offering clothes but also lifestyle concepts, from furniture to children’s clothing and home accessories. We provide everything for our clients, and with hospitality, we are completing a 360-degree luxury lifestyle experience as a company.

How do you envision the Philipp Plein brand evolving over the next decade? Are there any new areas you’re exploring?

As we celebrate our 30th anniversary, we have been in the market for over 30 years. We have been developing, growing, and changing over the last three decades. We aim to continue growing, innovating, and pushing boundaries. We are excited about what the future holds for us.

We’ve always been innovative and open-minded; therefore, we’re eager to see where the next decade will take us.

What motivates you to take risks and challenge conventional norms in the luxury market?

I don’t need motivation to take risks; I was born a risk-taker and a money-maker. I am excited about everything I do, and that passion makes the process enjoyable and fulfilling.

As someone who constantly innovates, how do you balance creativity with the business aspects of your brand?

I’m not just a designer; primarily, I am a businessman. I like to create successful business stories as well as success stories. A part of my job is dedicated to creativity, but I also think we are innovative and very open-minded when it comes to business development, planning, organizing new strategies, and keeping our business goals in mind.

The luxury industry is becoming more focused on sustainability and inclusivity. How does Philipp Plein as a brand adapt to these changing dynamics?

Philipp Plein as a brand is very exclusive, and we take sustainability seriously. Our customers tend to keep our products and wear them for years. We can say we are one of the most sustainable companies. Additionally, we are a couture and luxury

manufacturer. We only use very small ateliers and suppliers; we do not mass-produce. Sustainability has always been part of our ethos. Our products are high-quality and long-lasting, making them inherently sustainable. This has always been a significant part of our company policy. We produce 100% in Italy, focusing on craftsmanship and durability.

What do you believe is the future of luxury fashion and lifestyle in a post-pandemic world?

At the moment, the luxury or couture industry is going through a difficult period. Most luxury brands have lost market share and experienced significant turnover declines compared to previous years. Even during COVID, the market was

good; people were purchasing in different ways. Now they are starting to go out again to enjoy life and celebrate. However, luxury has been suffering, especially this year.

We are a lifestyle company; we are always innovating and reinventing ourselves, so we do not feel this slowdown very much. We keep developing fresh ideas that help us stay relevant, and we believe this will benefit us in the future. We cannot compare ourselves to other luxury brands in the market because we are entirely different; we follow our own rules.

If you could define “luxury” in one sentence, what would it be?

What is one piece of advice you’d give to aspiring designers or entrepreneurs who look up to you?

Believe in yourself and your dreams until they come true. Do not give up, and don’t listen to people who are outside your circle or even within it who may try to tell you the opposite.

In 2015, I founded by.daliataha in Qatar, turning my vision into a global event and wedding planning brand.

My mission was clear: to bring together the precision of engineering with the beauty of art and design to deliver flawless, transformative experiences.

While the idea of becoming an event planner was not always part of my career path, it was a natural progression as I saw an opportunity to combine my technical skills with my artistic passion to create exquisite, bespoke events.

Today, we are proud to have curated over 200 weddings and events, each more remarkable than the last, and this journey continues to fuel my drive for perfection and creativity. Each event I plan tells a unique story, and I take pride in turning my clients’ dreams into reality.

You’re known for adding a unique touch to every event. How would you describe your signature style as a planner?

My signature style is an elegant fusion of art, engineering, and personalized luxury. I take great pride in crafting one-of-a-kind experiences that embody sophistication, creativity, and precision. My designs are characterized by their seamless integration of space, thoughtful details, and innovative design elements. Biggest Challenges

Event planning comes with its fair share of challenges. What has been the most difficult situation you’ve faced, and how did you overcome it?

The nature of luxury event planning often presents unforeseen challenges, and it is in these moments that my expertise in both engineering and design truly comes into play.

One of the most demanding situations occurred when a key venue became unavailable just days before a major wedding.

This required immediate action and creative problem-solving. With a calm and focused approach, I swiftly identified an alternative venue, coordinated logistics, and reworked the design to fit the new space— all while maintaining the same level of elegance and quality the client expected.

Every event is memorable, but one that truly stands out is the “Versailles Garden” wedding. Inspired by the opulence of French gardens, this wedding was a true labor of love. We curated every detail to perfection— lush greenery, ornate sculptures, and luxurious floral installations, all set within a breathtaking venue.

The result was an immersive experience that transported guests to another world. What made this event particularly special was the incredible trust our clients placed in us to execute their dream wedding.

To see their joy and satisfaction when everything came together was truly rewarding and reinforced my passion for delivering excellence at every turn.

Work-Life Balance

With such a demanding career, how do you maintain a healthy balance between your professional and personal life?

The nature of my career requires immense dedication, but I believe that true success lies in balance.

Over the years, I have honed the art of time management, ensuring that I dedicate focused time to both my professional commitments and personal life.

Event days can be intense! How do you stay calm and composed while handling unexpected challenges?

The ability to remain calm under pressure is one of the core qualities that sets by.daliataha apart. Stress is inevitable in luxury event planning, but my engineering background provides me with the skills to assess situations methodically and come up with clear, effective solutions. I approach every event with a comprehensive plan and contingencies in place. On event days, I maintain focus on the bigger picture—ensuring the client’s vision is fully realized. My approach is to always stay one step ahead, anticipating needs and addressing challenges with professionalism and grace, ensuring a seamless experience for everyone involved.

Vision for the Future

Where do you see yourself and your brand in the next five years? Are there any exciting projects or ideas you’re currently working on?

In five years, I envision by.daliataha as a global leader in luxury event planning, expanding our reach while maintaining our unwavering commitment to excellence. We are currently working on integrating cutting-edge technology into our events, including virtual reality and immersive experiences, to bring even more innovation to our designs. Sustainability is also becoming a major focus, and we are committed to creating eco-conscious events that do not compromise on luxury or quality. My goal is to continue evolving, pushing the boundaries of creativity, and maintaining the highest standards of luxury service.

What advice would you give to aspiring wedding and event planners who want to follow in your footsteps?

My advice is simple: always aim for excellence. Event planning is an art that requires both creativity and precision, and it’s essential to continuously develop your skills in both areas. This craft is about more than just creating beautiful settings—it’s about delivering unforgettable experiences with attention to every detail. Building strong relationships based on trust and professionalism is crucial; they lay the foundation for long-term success in this industry.

Never settle for anything less than perfection. Dedicate yourself to your passion for creating memorable experiences and keep pushing boundaries with every event you plan.

It’s equally important to stay true to your unique vision while embracing new trends and technologies that help you stay ahead of the curve.

The delivery of two new aircraft brings Qatar Executive’s fleet to 24

QATAR EXECUTIVE ADDS TWO ADDITIONAL GULFSTREAM G700 TO ITS FLEET

Qatar Executive (QE), the luxury private jet charter division of Qatar Airways Group, is proud to announce that it has taken delivery of two additional Gulfstream G700 aircraft, taking its total fleet size to 24.

The two additional aircraft will increase the total number of Gulfstream G700 in QE’s fleet to six, with an additional four G700s scheduled for delivery throughout 2025 and early 2026. QE’s fleet also includes 15 Gulfstream G650ER aircraft.

VISIT QATAR HOSTS FIRST ARABIA LUXURY TRAVEL SHOW IN DOHA

Visit Qatar hosted the Arabia Luxury Travel Show for the first time in Doha, which ran from January 12 to 15. Designed to strengthen Qatar’s position as a leading luxury destination in the Middle East, the event welcomed over 160 luxury tour operators and (MICE) Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions agents from key markets, including Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Georgia, Moldova, and the Baltic States.

More than 50 distinguished hotels, destination management companies, and tourism boards from across the region including Qatar, the UAE, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Turkey and the Indian Ocean participated in the event. Together, they highlighted the Middle East’s world-class luxury offerings, further solidifying the region as a hub for premium tourism.

The four-day event featured a comprehensive agenda, at the event’s Host Hotel, the Ritz Carlton - Doha, including two days of one-on-one B2B meetings to facilitate important business engagements. The last two days were dedicated to networking events between buyers and exhibitors.

TOURISM TRIUMPH: QATAR REACHES

FIVE MILLION VISITORS IN 2024

Qatar Tourism proudly announces a historic achievement as the country surpasses five million visitors for the year 2024. This milestone marks a remarkable 25% growth in international arrivals compared to 2023, solidifying Qatar’s position as a leading global tourism destination.

“HE Chairman of Qatar Tourism, Mr. Saad Bin Ali Al Kharji: “Surpassing five million visitors is a landmark accomplishment for Qatar, bringing us closer to realizing our vision of positioning the country as one of the world’s fastest-growing, family-friendly premier destinations. This 25% year-on-year growth, alongside the exceptional sales of 10 million room nights, underscores the effectiveness of our strategy and the collaborative efforts of our stakeholders. This milestone is not only a celebration of our accomplishments but also a foundation for future growth as we continue to deliver unique experiences and service excellence across all the tourism touch points for every visitor.”

He further added, “Our tourism goals are ambitious but achievable. Between 2022 and 2030, we aim to nearly triple our visitor numbers and to at least double the tourism in-destination spend. We also aim to increase total tourism contribution to GDP to 10-12%.”

GCC nationals make up 41% of visitors, with the remaining 59% from international markets. Key source markets, including Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, India, United Kingdom, Germany and United States of America, demonstrated substantial growth, reflecting Qatar’s diverse appeal.

In addition to exceeding the visitor arrivals target of 4.79 million, Qatar has surpassed its annual goal of 8.8 million room nights sold, recording nearly 10 million room nights sold to date this year.

To date in 2024, 56% of visitors arrived by air, 37% by land, and the remaining 7% by sea. Additionally, Qatar’s hospitality sector has grown significantly, surpassing 40,000 hotel keys.

Visitor numbers have consistently grown throughout the year, with significant peaks at the start and end of 2024. The AFC Asian Cup in January set the tone for a record-breaking year, while the conclusion was highlighted by the beginning of a thriving 2024/2025 cruise season, the Formula 1 Qatar Grand Prix, and record visitor numbers from Saudi Arabia during the November school holidays.

Qatar welcomes visitors from all over the world and reaffirms its commitment to offering exceptional experiences and service excellence that reflect Qatari hospitality and its rich heritage.
