ROLLS-ROYCE MOTOR CARS MIDDLE EAST & AFRICA CELEBRATES RECORD YEAR FOR BESPOKE & SALES

A RECORD YEAR FOR BESPOKE

* Rolls-Royce Motor Cars Middle East & Africa leads the world for Bespoke value and achieves consecutive record annual sales

* Opening of four new showrooms in the region confirms Rolls-Royce Motor Cars’ position as a true House of Luxury

* Over £300 million investment committed to extending the Home of RollsRoyce at Goodwood, expanding Bespoke and Coachbuild capabilities

In 2024, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars Middle East & Africa was the largest Bespoke region by average value per motor car.

The region has once again set a new benchmark for highly sophisticated and exclusive commissions. Extraordinary examples include:

* Couture Phantom, featuring a delicate lace-inspired embroidered gallery, a Bespoke interior of Sunrise and Grace White leather, and a unique two-tone paint application in Crystal over Palais Nemaskar Dawn and Crystal over Arctic White.

* Rose Spectre, with intricate rose embroidery on the headrests and rear waterfall, along with personalised airbrush artwork and a 3D embroidery technique blending yarns.

* A specially commissioned Phantom, designed to mark a client’s milestone 50th birthday with his initials on the Coachline, treadplates, and headrests, and a Starlight Headliner recreating the constellation on his birthdate and birthplace.

These sophisticated Bespoke creations underscore RollsRoyce Motor Cars’ ongoing commitment to offering highly personalised experiences which lead to the creation of

emotionally resonant masterpieces, showcasing RollsRoyce’s exceptional craftsmanship, design, and innovation in the Middle East and beyond.

AN UNMATCHED CLIENT EXPERIENCE

Rolls-Royce Motor Cars’ commitment to Bespoke is reflected in its Private Offices. The Private Office in Dubai was the first outside Goodwood, setting the global template which offers clients the opportunity to work closely with a dedicated regional Designer and Bespoke Experience Manager, serving as an extension of The Home of Rolls-Royce at Goodwood in the region. Working with the Private Office team, clients can create a deeply personal and elaborate motor car, thereby turning their dreams into a reality.

Following the successful showroom openings in Qatar and Saudi Arabia in recent years, the new showroom openings in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Kuwait, and Bahrain in 2024 underscore Rolls-Royce Motor Cars’ evolution into a true House of Luxury. Bringing the brand’s refreshed visual identity to life, and designed to appeal to a younger, self-made, and highly individual clientele, these new showrooms offer a fully immersive client experience, reflecting the marque’s commitment to delivering unparalleled luxury and personalisation.

The Rolls-Royce Motor Cars invitation-only members’ app, Whispers, continued to thrive in 2024, offering an exclusive digital member’s club where clients can manage their RollsRoyce motor cars, network with fellow members, and gain unique insights into both the marque and the wider luxury world. The app also facilitates direct communication between senior Rolls-Royce motor cars executives and owners of Goodwood-era Rolls-Royce motor cars, strengthening the bond between the brand and its discerning clients.

MIDDLE EAST SALES PICTURE

Driven by the ultra-luxury super coupé Spectre, which had its first full year of sales, and the launches of Cullinan Series II and Ghost Series II and their respective Black Badge models, the Middle East and Africa saw increased interest across the Rolls-Royce lineup in 2024, including the pinnacle RollsRoyce Phantom

In 2024, the Middle East achieved record sales with top performance rankings globally in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Riyadh.

On the Road

Bahrain and South Africa also achieved their highest annual sales on record.

GOODWOOD FACILITY EXPANSION

Rolls-Royce Motor Cars has announced an investment of over £300 million to extend the Home of Rolls-Royce at Goodwood, reinforcing its position as a leader in handcrafted luxury and Bespoke craftsmanship. With the marque’s expansion of its global Private Office network and the increasing demand for highly intricate Bespoke, the investment is primarily to create more space for both Bespoke and even more complex Coachbuild projects. It marks the largest capital investment since the plant’s opening in 2003 and will enable Rolls-Royce Motor Cars to meet the evolving demands of its Middle Eastern clientele, further supporting the brand’s commitment to exceptional craftsmanship, Bespoke excellence, and innovation. Rolls-Royce Motor Cars Middle East & Africa looks forward with confidence to unveiling more Bespoke creations in 2025.

2024 has been a remarkable year for RollsRoyce Motor Cars, particularly in the Middle East & Africa, where the region continues to set the global benchmark for Bespoke commissions. The success of our Private Office in Dubai - our first outside Goodwood – and the opening of four new showrooms across the region have been pivotal, offering discerning clients exclusive luxury spaces to immerse themselves in the wonderful world of RollsRoyce Motor Cars. We have seen strong demand across all models with more clients seeking highly personalised features. The Middle East remains at the forefront of our Bespoke philosophy, and we are confident the demand for exceptional, tailored, emotionally resonant luxury will continue well into 2025 and beyond.”

A

New Name, a New

Era:

Meet the Audi A5

Audi Middle East proudly welcomes the new Audi A5 and S5 models to the region. Embodying sophisticated design, exhilarating performance, and cutting-edge technology, the Audi A5 lineup represents a bold evolution from the iconic A4 nameplate, which has been a pillar of Audi’s lineup since 1994.

By introducing the A5, Audi builds upon the legacy of the A4 while showcasing a renewed focus on innovation and performance. The model retains the beloved fastback configuration, combining practicality with the compact luxury and sportiness that Middle Eastern drivers have come to expect.

Performance That Thrills

The new Audi A5 range offers potent yet efficient TFSI powertrains. The A5 Sedan 35 TFSI delivers 150 hp and 280 Nm of torque, reaching 100 km/h in 9.8 seconds with a top speed of 216 km/h. For those seeking a sportier edge, the A5 Sedan 40 TFSI produces 204 hp and 340 Nm of torque, allowing a 7.8-second sprint to 100 km/h and a top speed of 248 km/h. Both models come with front-wheel drive and a smooth 7-speed S tronic transmission, striking the perfect balance between energetic performance and daily usability.

Driving enthusiasts will find the S5 Sedan especially compelling, courtesy of its 3.0L V6 TFSI engine generating 367 hp and 550 Nm of torque, enabling a 0–100 km/h time of just 4.5 seconds. Alongside permanent quattro all-wheel drive, the S5 features torque vectoring and adaptive damping sports suspension for exceptional handling dynamics, ensuring drivers can confidently tackle both urban environments and open highways.

A Striking Exterior Design

Embodied in a sleek, athletic silhouette measuring 4.8 meters in length, 2.0 meters in width, and 1.4 meters in height, the Audi A5’s exterior captures attention from

every angle. The signature Singleframe grille is complemented by sculpted lines that enhance aerodynamic efficiency, while Matrix LED headlights offer selectable light signatures for optimized visibility. At the rear, optional OLED taillights underscore Audi’s commitment to innovative lighting technology.

Thanks to a 2.8-meter wheelbase, the A5 also boasts well-balanced proportions, giving it a poised stance on the road. Whether cruising city streets or speeding along desert highways, the design exudes both elegance and practicality – qualities that have long defined Audi’s aesthetic.

A Driver-Focused Interior

Inside, the A5 showcases Audi’s newest interior language, anchored by a large curved digital display housing three key screens. Drivers benefit from an 11.5-inch Audi Virtual Cockpit, while a 14.5-inch MMI touch display offers intuitive access to infotainment and vehicle settings. Front-seat passengers enjoy an additional 10.9-inch screen with dynamic privacy mode, helping to minimize distractions for the driver.

On the Road

High-quality materials ensure premium comfort, while ample legroom and headroom make longer journeys especially enjoyable. The 445-liter trunk (expandable to 1,299 liters with the rear seats folded) provides versatile cargo space. For audiophiles, a Bang & Olufsen 3D Sound System– standard in the S5– adds immersive audio, amplified by the optional speakers integrated into the seat headrests.

Availability & Pricing The all-new Audi A5 range is now available for pre-order across the Middle East, with showroom arrivals beginning during Ramadan 2025*. At launch, the lineup includes the A5 Sedan 35 TFSI (150 hp), A5 Sedan 40 TFSI (204 hp), and S5 Sedan V6 TFSI (367 hp). Future variants – A5 Sedan 45 TFSI quattro (272 hp) and RS 5

performance V6 PHEV (exceeding 580 hp) – are set to arrive in early 2026. In the UAE, prices begin at AED 198,300 for the A5 35 TFSI advanced and AED 314,100 for the S5, inclusive of VAT, Service Plan, Roadside Assistance, and Registration.

INTERVIEW WITH EYAD

ABDULLAH MASHAT

THE VISIONARY BEHIND

SAUDI ARABIA’S FASHION RENAISSANCE

Eyad Mashat is a visionary leader and a trailblazer in the Saudi Arabian fashion industry.

As the founder of FAD International, he has transformed a single Femi9 store in Riyadh into a fashion empire with a presence across the Middle East and even Switzerland.

Known for his sharp business acumen and passion for fashion, Mashat has redefined accessible style for young, fashion-conscious women while also making waves in high-end evening wear through his brands, Vivid Flair & Femi9.

With over two decades of experience, his entrepreneurial journey is a testament to his innovative mindset, commitment to excellence, and dedication to empowering women.

Founder & CEO Of FAD internationl Eyad Mashat

1. Reflecting on the past 25 years, what inspired you to create Femi9, and how did your time in Mena Region influence your vision?

Our family has been in the clothing business since 1934, and I wanted to carry the legacy forward by creating a Saudi clothing brand that would last for decades—if not more—and expand geographically. Every country you visit offers a different perspective, and Switzerland was no exception.

2. Your family has deep roots in the textile industry. How did those early experiences shape your approach to business and design?

My father taught me the ins and outs of the industry and helped me develop my business acumen. Over time, I gained my own knowledge and evolved as a businessman. However, to this day, I still consult with him to enrich my decisions.

3. Fashion retail is highly competitive. What were some of the significant challenges you faced in the early years, and how did you overcome them?

Businesses encounter challenges at every stage, whether in their early days or well into their growth journey. Early on, our main challenges included finding reliable trend consultancy, translating our brand DNA into cohesive designs, and sourcing the right designers—all of which involved a great deal of trial and error.

4. The launch of TheLevele.com marked a significant milestone for FAD International. How do you see the role of e-commerce evolving in Saudi Arabia and the GCC?

Previously we acquired the platform, originally called Vanilla, in 2018 and rebranded it as THELEVELE.com. This acquisition was a significant learning experience for the team and me. Most importantly, it gave us an early understanding of online operations ahead of our competitors. Two years later, it was acquired by an investor.

5. What challenges did you face in transitioning to online retail, and how did you ensure a seamless experience for your customers?

We faced many challenges, but the most important was encouraging customers to explore our collections online and shop in a new way while ensuring the interface was user-friendly and visually appealing. The e-commerce ecosystem is highly dynamic, and we continue to tackle new challenges as they arise. However, I believe a big part of our success lies in always listening to our customers and prioritizing their satisfaction.

6. You emphasize the importance of building a family-like work culture. How does this approach contribute to the success of your organization?

When you have a team that shares the same values, the potential for growth

increases exponentially. When everyone is personally invested, teams become more motivated, collaborative, and engaged.

7. What leadership principles have guided you in managing a growing team and maintaining a shared vision over the years?

Ownership and responsibility have always been a key focus for me. Openness to new ideas also plays a huge role—even when they fail. A failed idea is often still a success because it teaches us valuable lessons that influence future ventures.

8. As a pioneer in Saudi fashion, how do you see the local fashion scene evolving in the next decade?

The fashion industry in Saudi Arabia—and globally— has always been highly competitive. As technology and methodologies advance, I believe the future holds

great potential, especially with the strong support from the Ministry of Culture and the Fashion Commission.

9. What role do you believe Saudi designers and brands will play on the global fashion stage?

Saudi Arabia is home to many talented designers who have the potential to compete with world-class names. As the country gains recognition as a fashion hub, I believe we will see more local talent making an impact on the global fashion scene.

10. What advice would you give to young entrepreneurs looking to make their mark in the fashion industry?

Developing a unique brand identity should always come first. Once you establish a solid and consistent brand image, you can focus on building a business

““ I feel privileged to have this opportunity to represent this rising kingdom through a wonderful collection like this. Saudi is and has always been a nation of modernization, legacy and diversity.” Artist. Taim Eyad Mashat

model and translating your brand DNA into a product or service. The final element to consider is pricing.

11. What are your long-term goals for FAD International and your brands, both locally and internationally?

Our strategy for the next five years is to expand within the Middle East and beyond.

12. Your brands employ a majority of women. How does empowering women align with your personal and professional values?

Our brand is deeply centered around women and femininity. Having strong women on the team is not only empowering but also the right decision for our business. Women excel and innovate in this industry. We have also launched multiple female-centric initiatives, such as WAM (Women’s Appreciation Month).

13. What’s your favorite fashion capital in the world? Paris.

14. One item every woman should have in her wardrobe?

The right outfit can enhance a woman’s appearance, but ultimately, her confidence and personal taste determine what she should have in her wardrobe.

15. The most valuable lesson you’ve learned in 20 years of business?

Be a jack-of-all-trades. Adaptability and continuous self-improvement are what make and keep you successful.

16. Can you name any major achievements you’ve reached in the past year?

Last year was filled with many small wins and a few major achievements. One of the most significant milestones was our listing on Saudi Arabia’s Nomu-Parallel Market, making FAD one of the first Saudi fashion companies to go public. This was not only a proud moment for us but also a strong indicator of the fashion industry’s growth potential in Saudi Arabia and the region.

17. We’ve seen that your son, Taim, was involved in the Daum Collection. His drawings of Saudi city landscapes inspired a dedicated collection for Foundation Day. Can you tell us more about it?

Taim is a passionate and emerging young artist. His creative touch added a unique element to the collection. I see him as a great artist, and I wish him a bright future.

BY DAUM TRANSFORMED THE ESSENCE OF SAUDI CULTURE AND HISTORY INTO WEARABLE ART, CELEBRATING WHAT MAKES THE KINGDOM TRULY UNIQUE.

Femi9 invited guests on an exclusive journey through this year’s new DAUM collection, where fashion, art, and technology merged to tell a unique story under the theme of “Mamlakti” (My Kingdom). The collection launch was timed to coincide with Saudi Foundation Day, honoring the nation’s rich heritage and proud identity.

The experience began at the entrance with a laser show display to introduce the “Mamlakati” collection, setting the stage for an evening of creativity and discovery. The collection’s designs came to life in an art gallery, with exhibition pieces inspired by the rich heritage and modern spirit of three iconic Saudi cities:

• Jeddah Capsule, where fluidity and movement reflected the city’s vibrant coastal energy.

• Diriyah Capsule, echoing tradition through structured silhouettes and timeless elegance.

• Al Ula Capsule, capturing the essence of nature with earthy tones and artistic textures.

This unique capsule caters for both Ladies and girls.

At the heart of the event, artist Taim Mashat created live artwork, showcasing the passion and love for Saudi Arabia, that inspired the collection’s designs. A dedicated interview lounge hosted engaging conversations.

JEDDAH, ELEVATING BRITISH SAUDI TRADE TIES

Under a canopy of stars at Jeddah’s iconic Silver Sands Beach, His Majesty’s Consul General, Cecille El Beleidi, and the UK Department for Business and Trade (DBT) hosted “Coastal Fusion: A British Culinary Experience”—an elegant dinner celebrating the unmatched quality of British lamb and dairy. Curated by Michelin-starred British Chef Vineet Bhatia MBE, the dinner brought together Saudi Arabia’s culinary elite, trade leaders, and influencers for an evening of gastronomic innovation, reinforcing the UK’s position as a supplier of premium, sustainable food.

““Tonight’s dinner was unique.” said Mrs Cecille El Beleidi, HM Consul General. “For all those who are passionate about food, this was an opportunity to show the versatility of incorporating some of Britain’s finest premium produce in traditional Saudi dishes, adding new twists to favourite meals or simply creating something new.”

A Night of Culinary Diplomacy

Against the serene backdrop of the Red Sea, guests embarked on a sensory journey through Chef Bhatia’s bespoke menu. Dishes like slow-roasted British lamb madhfoun and artisanal cheese platters showcased the versatility of UK ingredients while honouring Hijazi flavours.

Why This Matters

• Saudi Arabia is the GCC’s largest dairy consumer, with cheese imports from the UK surging to 2,715 tonnes (£17.2m) in 2023.

• The Kingdom’s population of 36 million, coupled with its appetite for premium, halal-certified products, positions British lamb and dairy for exponential growth.

• Events like Coastal Fusion amplify the UK’s strategic push into the region, complementing flagship platforms like the Saudi Food Show and Gulfood, where DBT and partners such as the UK Agriculture and Horticulture Development Board (AHDB) have championed British agriculture.

“Yamish Yakoob, DBT’s Senior Trade Advisor for Food & Drink, emphasised: “Such events allow us to highlight the versatility of incorporating British premium produce in traditional dishes, adding new twists to favourite meals or creating something new”

• Saudi consumers spend 30% of their dairy budget on cheese—a demand the UK’s artisanal producers are uniquely positioned to meet.

Looking Ahead

The evening concluded with a reaffirmed commitment to deepen UK-Saudi trade ties. H.E El Beleidi praised collaborators, including The UK Agriculture and Horticulture Development Board (AHDB), Manuel Supermarkets, Gulfwest and Gulf Central companies for supporting the dinner. She also thanked UK dairy suppliers Belton Farm, Clawson Cheese, Coombe Castle, Fayrefield Foods, Godminister, Organic Herd, Rodda’s and Somerdale for providing their premium products to the dinner.

DELETE, DON’T RETWEET

In the rapidly evolving digital landscape, where every click can resonate far beyond its original context, accountability is more important than ever. Saudi Arabia’s Anti-Cybercrime Law serves as a crucial mechanism for ensuring that technology is used responsibly, balancing the freedoms of expression and connectivity with the protection of individual rights and societal values.

This law has been meticulously crafted to address a range of offenses, from defamation and privacy violations to the use of digital platforms for criminal or harmful purposes. The intent is clear: to promote ethical online behavior while preserving public order and safeguarding national interests.

The law’s penalties are a sobering reminder of the gravity of digital actions. A defaming post or a harmful message can lead to a prison sentence of up to one year or a fine of 500,000 SAR. More severe violations, such as producing or sharing content that undermines public morals or disrupts societal harmony, carry punishments of up to five years’ imprisonment or fines reaching three million SAR. For those involved in facilitating cyberterrorism, the consequences are even harsher, with sentences extending to ten yearsand fines of up to five million SAR.

These measures emphasize the importance of treating the online world with the same seriousness as the physical one. A digital space free of abuse fosters trust, innovation, and collaboration, ensuring it remains a platform for progress rather than harm.

This principle was a focal point of discussion at the Media and Law Forum organized by the Journalists’ Association of the Northern Borders. The event was held under the auspices of His Royal Highness Prince Faisal bin Khalid bin Sultan, Governor of the Northern Borders Region, and was attended by a large audience, including lawyers, journalists from inside and outside the region, and law and media students from Northern Borders University in Arar.

As the digital age continues to evolve, the Anti-Cybercrime Law reminds us of a simple but powerful truth: in the world of cyberspace, vigilance and responsibility are non-negotiable. Think before you post, delete before you regret, and above all, remember that even in the boundless expanse of the internet, accountability is key

VALUE-BASED HEALTHCARE IN SAUDI ARABIA

by Dr. Faisal ZaGZooG

Recently, we have been hearing a lot about Value-Based Healthcare (VBHC)—a revolutionary shift in the way medical services are delivered. In the past, healthcare systems operated on a fee-for-service model, where providers were compensated based on the number of treatments performed rather than their effectiveness. However, the transformation toward VBHC prioritizes quality, efficiency, and long-term patient well-being rather than just the volume of clinical services.

Since the COVID-19 pandemic, Saudi Arabia has emerged as a leader in holistic, patient-centered healthcare by implementing several groundbreaking initiatives. These include the adoption of electronic health records and digital health passports, enabling seamless access to patient data, and AI-driven diagnostics, which improve the accuracy and efficiency of medical assessments. Telemedicine has expanded healthcare accessibility, while home delivery of medications has enhanced patient convenience and adherence. Additionally, healthcare clusters have been strategically distributed across the Kingdom to fulfill the needs of each geographic region. These advancements reflect Saudi Arabia’s commitment to enhancing patient outcomes and optimizing healthcare delivery.

The adoption of VBHC in Saudi Arabia is inevitable, driven by continued investments in digital health, policy reform, and performance-based reimbursement models. Success in this transformation relies on collaboration between governments, healthcare providers, insurers, and technology innovators to build a more efficient, sustainable, and seamless healthcare ecosystem.

Speaking about public policy, VBHC is becoming a reality through public-private partnerships, which have created new pathways to enhance the efficiency of existing infrastructure. Additionally, health insurance reforms have reshaped the financial model to improve reimbursements and spending, while the development of integrated care models, digital health solutions, and AI innovations has further strengthened the system.

I believe that the current phase of VBHC transformation will enable healthcare providers to innovate and explore future opportunities, such as expanding service delivery on a wider, global scale. The integration of large-scale AI-driven data analytics will play a crucial role in prevention, treatment, and overall well-being, further solidifying Saudi Arabia’s position as a leader in modern healthcare.

ACCELERATING SUSTAINABLE FINANCE: THE KEY TO A GREEN ECONOMY

With the effects of climate change becoming more evident, sustainable finance plays a crucial role in shaping a resilient and environmentally friendly economy. With Earth Day 2025 approaching under the theme

“OUR POWER, OUR PLANET™,”

it emphasizes the urgency of saving the planet by harnessing our collective strengths. Saudi Arabia’s ambitious green financing efforts are driving significant momentum toward this vital shift.

What Is Sustainable Finance and Why Is It Essential?

Sustainable finance refers to financial practices that consider environmental, social, and governance (ESG) factors in investment and funding decisions.

Key elements include:

- Green bonds: Bonds designed to fund projects that benefit the environment.

- ESG-linked loans: Loans tied to measurable ESG performance goals.

- Sustainable investments: Investments focused on long-term ecological and social benefits.

Sustainable finance address climate risks while fostering economic growth, sustainable finance aligns with global objectives like the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The Role of Green Bonds in Building a Green Economy

Green bonds provide funding for clean energy, sustainable infrastructure, and environmental restoration projects. Globally, the green bond market has surged, with Saudi Arabia becoming a significant contributor. By leveraging green bonds and strategic investments, the country is driving renewable energy development and sustainable infrastructure projects.

• Public Investment Fund (PIF): Saudi Arabia’s PIF has been a key player in green financing. According to the PIF Allocation and Impact Report (2024), the fund issued its first green bond in 2022, committing billions to green infrastructure, renewable energy, and sustainable water projects. In its second green bond issuance, PIF raised $5.5 billion to finance or refinance green investments under its Green Finance Framework. As of June 2024, PIF has allocated $5.2 billion of the $8.5 billion raised through green bonds, with a focus on projects that align with Saudi Arabia’s sustainability goals and Vision 2030.

• Saudi Electricity Company: The Saudi Electricity Company (SEC) launched the Kingdom’s first Green Sukuk and the MENA region’s first for a utility company in 2020. Strengthening its green financing efforts, SEC issued a $2 billion dual-tranche Sukuk in April 2023, with the green tranche raising $1.2 billion to support renewable energy, grid integration, and energy efficiency projects—aligning with Saudi Arabia’s goal of generating 50% of its electricity from clean sources by 2030.

• Saudi Banks and Industrial Funds: Several Saudi banks and funds have also entered the green bond market. Saudi National Bank (SNB) has issued three green and sustainability instruments totaling $838 million, with a sustainable asset portfolio of $1.9 billion—100% allocated to sustainable assets. Al Rajhi Bank has also issued green bonds to finance renewable energy and sustainable infrastructure projects. They financed five of six renewable projects awarded in 2020 and providing $700 million for renewables in 2021. It also supported ACWA Power’s Jubail 3A desalination plant, enhancing the Kingdom’s water security through sustainable infrastructure. SIDF supports green finance through initiatives like the Tanafusiya Accelerator, funding energy efficiency, automation,

and digitization projects to drive sustainable industrial growth.

Such investments and initiatives support the country’s target of generating 50% of its electricity from clean sources by 2030.

ESG-Linked Loans

ESG-linked loans incentivize businesses to embrace sustainable practices by offering lower borrowing costs. Saudi companies are increasingly using ESGlinked financing to drive their green transformation, aligning with Vision 2030’s emphasis on responsible business practices. Sustainable investments are directing capital into renewable energy, water management, and circular economy initiatives. In Saudi Arabia:

• The Public Investment Fund (PIF) is heavily funding renewable energy projects, including green hydrogen developments under NEOM. Neom Green Hydrogen Company, located in Oxagon, NEOM, operates on 4 GW of renewable energy from dedicated wind and solar plants, aligning with Saudi Vision 2030 and the Saudi Green Initiative.

• Favorable policy frameworks encouraging private sector participation in sustainable investments, ensuring long-term economic and environmental gains.

Saudi Arabia’s Green Financing Strategy

The Saudi Green Initiative demonstrates the country’s leadership in green financing, integrating efforts from both public and private sectors. While promising, sustainable finance faces hurdles such as:

• A lack of standardized green financing metrics.

• Limited understanding of green investment benefits among businesses.

Saudi Arabia is tackling these challenges by offering incentives for green investment and implementing robust frameworks for ESG reporting and accountability. CES Consulting helps entities to qualify for green funding through their expertise in ESG compliance, helping businesses align with international sustainability standards. We enable businesses to access green funding, contributing to the broader goal of sustainable development in Saudi Arabia and beyond.

Introduction: Embracing the Present to Shape the Future

In an era where rapid advancements redefine the boundaries of possibility, the true measure of foresight is found in our actions today. Here in Saudi Arabia, under the sweeping vision of 2030, we see a vivid illustration of how the seeds planted in the present are crucial for cultivating the lush landscapes of tomorrow. As we navigate these dynamic times, it becomes clear that the most enduring form of luxury is investing in the now for future gains.

Strategic Seeding: The Art of Visionary Investment

The Essence of Immediate Action

Every decision we make today serves as a foundational stone for future generations. From the sprawling urban developments in Riyadh to the groundbreaking green initiatives across the desert landscapes, Saudi Arabia is not just planning for a better future; it is actively constructing it through deliberate, thoughtful investments in technology, culture, and sustainability.

Innovating with Purpose

Innovation isn’t just about the creation of new ideas but the courageous implementation of these ideas in the present. Projects like NEOM, with its promise of a zero-carbon footprint, and the Red Sea Project, redefining eco-friendly luxury tourism, are prime examples of how today’s innovative seeds are expected to bear tomorrow’s revolutionary fruits.

Cultivating Time: The Ultimate Luxury

Redefining Luxury

In the fast-paced global marketplace, the luxury of time is increasingly becoming a rare commodity. In Saudi Arabia, we redefine luxury by how we allocate our time and resources, focusing not just on economic outcomes but on creating lasting value that enhances life quality for all.

Time as a Resource

The luxury of time extends beyond personal leisure. It encompasses the time we devote to fostering relationships, crafting policies, and developing sustainable systems that will stand the test of time, ensuring that the fruits of our labor today will nourish generations to come.

Legacy Building: Sowing Today for Tomorrow’s Harvest

Vision 2030: A Blueprint for Future Generations

Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 is much more than a strategic plan; it is a commitment to the future—a blueprint that details not only the aspirations but the concrete steps being taken to achieve them. This vision ensures that the seeds we plant now are robust, capable of transforming challenges into opportunities for future prosperity.

Sustainable Growth

Emphasizing sustainability in development is to recognize that the best way to predict the future is to create it. By investing in sustainable technologies and practices now, we are ensuring that the environmental legacy we leave is as rich and vital as the economic and cultural legacies.

Conclusion: A Call to Mindful Action

As we each consider our role in this grand narrative of transformation, let us ask ourselves: What seeds are we planting today? How are our actions contributing not only to our immediate goals but also to the long-term welfare of our community and the world at large?

The future indeed belongs to those who plant seeds today with an eye on tomorrow. Let us be those visionaries who recognize the value of the present as the fertile ground for a prosperous future. Join us in this mission to cultivate a legacy that transcends time and boundaries.

THE 2025 ISLAMIC ARTS BIENNALE, AND ALL THAT IS IN BETWEEN, OPENS IN JEDDAH

The Diriyah Biennale Foundation announces the opening of the second edition of the Islamic Arts Biennale, titled And All That Is In Between. The Islamic Arts Biennale takes place in Jeddah, a city that has been a meeting point of cultures for centuries. The site is the Western Hajj Terminal of King Abdulaziz International Airport, which echoes with memory and emotion for millions of Muslim pilgrims embarking on their sacred journeys for Hajj and Umrah every year. By juxtaposing historical objects from Islamic cultures with contemporary art, the Biennale explores how faith is experienced, expressed, and celebrated through feeling, thinking, and making. The exhibition will be on view until May 25, 2025.

Led by Artistic Directors Julian Raby, Amin Jaffer, and Abdul Rahman Azzam, alongside Saudi artist Muhannad Shono as Curator of Contemporary Art, the Biennale offers insights into the ways cultures from around the world interact and endure. The exhibition unfolds in the context of the transformations taking place today in Saudi Arabia and adopts a global frame of reference.

And All That Is In Between is part of a verse that appears several times in the Quran: “And God created the Heavens and the Earth and all that is in between.” It describes the absolute and all-encompassing majesty of God’s creation as perceived and experienced by humankind. Across five exhibition halls and outdoor

spaces, and with more than 500 objects and contemporary artworks on view, the 2025 Islamic Arts Biennale explores how we endeavor to comprehend the wonder of what the divine has brought into being.

In its second edition, the Biennale presents significantly more works and welcomes a larger number of participating institutions. With this expansion, the Biennale affirms its position as the world’s central platform for Islamic arts. The exhibition brings together loans from the world’s leading institutions of Islamic arts, from Tunis to Tashkent, and from Timbuktu to Yogyakarta. The participation of this global network of institutions offers a broad perspective on Islamic arts, past and present, and opens new channels for dialogue and collaboration. Treasured historical artifacts, religious objects, and works of art have been loaned from major institutions including the Musée du Louvre (Paris) and the Victoria and Albert Museum (London), as well as collections devoted specifically to Islamic arts and cultures, such as the Ahmed Baba Institute of Higher Learning and Islamic Research (Timbuktu), the Museum of Islamic Art (Doha), and the Manuscripts Institute of Türkiye (Istanbul). The Biennale brings together institutions from across Saudi Arabia, including the King Abdulaziz Center for World Culture (Ithra) (Dhahran), the

King Abdulaziz Waqf Libraries Assembly (Madinah), and the King Fahad National Library (Riyadh), and also offers visitors a chance to see objects and works of art that come from the holy sites of Makkah and Madinah. The Biennale witnesses the first-ever display of the entire Kiswah—the cloth that covers the Holy Kaaba—outside of Makkah. A new Kiswah is created every year, and the Kiswah displayed at the Biennale is the one that adorned the Holy Kaaba last year.

The Biennale features the participation of over 30 artists from Saudi Arabia, the wider Gulf region, and around the world. This participation includes 29 new commissions, demonstrating the Diriyah Biennale Foundation’s work to offer a global stage for Saudi artists, and to bring artists from around the world to Saudi Arabia so that local audiences can encounter compelling practices and diverse perspectives in contemporary art.

The Islamic Arts Biennale consists of seven unique components: AlBidayah (“The Beginning”), AlMadar (“The Orbit”), AlMuqtani (“Homage”), AlMidhallah (“The Canopy”), AlMukarramah (“The Honored”), AlMunawwarah (“The Illuminated”), and AlMusalla. It is spread through indoor galleries and outdoor areas, across 100,000 square meters of dedicated exhibition space. The exhibition scenography is designed by the international architecture firm OMA.

This year, the Biennale features the realization of the winning design of the inaugural AlMusalla Prize. Created by EAST Architecture Studio in collaboration with engineers AKT II and artist Rayyane Tabet, the prize-winning design features a structure inspired by regional weaving traditions and relies on waste materials derived from local date palm trees.

The Biennale features a series of public programs that take place throughout the exhibition period, including talks, workshops, community initiatives, and symposia. Inaugural programs this year include Biennale After School and Biennale After Work, which invite children and adults alike to explore art through hands-on workshops on weekdays, fostering creativity and reflection. The Research Room returns in 2025 with a symposium titled “Turuq: The Many Ways of Food,” a four-day exploration of the diverse culinary practices of the Arab world. Weekly programs include Culinary Thursdays, Cinema Nights, Sketching Saturdays, and curated children’s tours to further immerse participants in the world of art. Taking place at the iconic Western Hajj Terminal in Jeddah, these programs create an inclusive and dynamic space for learning, dialogue, and cultural exchange.

Composed and orchestrated at world famous Abbey Road Studios, and cre ated by a mix of Saudi and inter national talent to create a piece that will tell stor ies across hor izons

Riyadh Air has released its captivating new sonic brand, “Sound of a New Era,” revealing one of the first key guest experience touchpoints, with seats, airport and inflight products set to be shared in the near future, as the airline approaches its first flight later in 2025. This sonic identity, composed and orchestrated at the world-famous Abbey Road Studios, is the creation of a talented mix of Saudi and international artists, designed to tell stories across horizons.

Reflecting Riyadh Air’s mission, the sonic branding creates a journey deeply rooted in cultural identity while setting a benchmark for global premium travel. The sound is a central pillar of Riyadh Air’s brand universe, creating a sensory journey that inspires awe and connection. The Riyadh Air sonic identity will be subtly integrated into various touchpoints throughout the passenger journey, from boarding music and cabin announcements to inflight entertainment and soothing meal service melodies.

The sonic branding process for Riyadh Air was a meticulous journey, blending artistry and innovation. The recording at Abbey Road Studios featured a live orchestra in collaboration with the Saudi National Orchestra and the Music Commission. Thirteen musicians from the Saudi National Orchestra played traditional Arabic instruments such as the oud, qanun, and ney, symbolizing the harmonious balance between tradition and modernity. The collaboration also included the Saudi Orchestra’s first female violinist, highlighting Riyadh Air’s values of innovation, authenticity, and human touch through live instrumentation.

A defining feature of Riyadh Air’s sonic identity is the seamless blend of digital soundscapes with traditional instruments, brought to life through live recording. This fusion reflects Riyadh Air’s dual nature: a brand deeply rooted in Saudi culture yet forward-looking and technologically advanced. Digital textures symbolize innovation and progress, adding depth and complexity to the compositions. When paired with the organic warmth of live traditional instruments and orchestral arrangements, the result is a rich, layered sound that bridges the past and future.

By leveraging sound as a storytelling tool, Riyadh Air continues to build a brand that is as memorable as it is aspirational, weaving moments of connectivity and discovery into the passenger experience. Meanwhile, “A New Leadership Order: Building Growth in Turbulent Times” focused on the role of visionary leadership in overcoming economic headwinds, optimizing productivity, and fostering sustainable growth. Industry experts shared insights on navigating complex business ecosystems and leveraging strategic adaptability to thrive in an ever-evolving marketplace.

Discussions also centered on the transformative power of social commerce, which is reshaping how consumers shop, interact and engage with brands. With e-commerce in the Middle East projected to reach USD 57 billion by 2026, the role of marketplaces in meeting evolving consumer expectations remains paramount. Statistics show that 80% of regional shoppers prefer online platforms for their convenience and variety, raising critical questions about how businesses

can design consumer-centric marketplaces that cater to regional dynamics while maintaining global competitiveness.

In addition, Zia Daniell Wigder, Chief Content Officer at EMARKETER, showcased a specially drafted report in partnership with the RLC Global Forum. This session provided a data-driven roadmap for the future of e-commerce in the GCC, offering valuable insights into consumer trends, market dynamics, and strategic opportunities for sustainable growth in the region.

AI was another major highlight of the day, with multiple sessions delving into its transformative potential across the retail sector. Industry leaders explored how AI is being used to enhance personalization, optimize supply chains, and drive operational efficiencies at scale.

The Lifestyle Destinations Stage brought a fresh perspective to the convergence of retail, tourism, and urban development. Sessions focused on how retail-driven cities are evolving into vibrant lifestyle hubs, integrating entertainment, hospitality, and commerce to redefine consumer experiences. The conversations highlighted the growing role of mixed-use developments in shaping the future of retail spaces, emphasizing sustainability and cultural relevance as key factors in long-term success.

Complementing the main stages’ discussions, the day’s roundtables, provided an opportunity for deeper engagement on some of the industry’s most pressing topics such as the region’s shifting retail landscape, collaboration and strategic alliances fueling retail innovation, and how businesses can capitalize on emerging opportunities in an evolving global economy.

The day also saw significant commitments take shape, with key partners set to sign Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) to drive future collaborations and industry advancements.

Building on the momentum of Day 1, participants eagerly look ahead to Day 2, where deep dives into omnichannel strategies, leadership evolution, and the future of luxury retail will take center stage.
