Don’t Forget to Include These Golf Courses on Your Golf-a-cation

If it weren’t for the niche tourism industry, golf lovers would still be clutching the Golf Digest’s Places to Play guide to hunt for little-known golf courses across the world. Golf wanderlusters like me have experts to sort out golf vacations- they tell us where to go and when to go. But if you don’t plan on outsourcing the task, here’s a list of golf courses you shouldn’t ever miss on your golf-a-cation: •

Royal County Down Golf Club:

It has been voted as the best golf course in 2016 by Golf Digest. You can’t be a golf lover touring Ireland and not visit the Royal County Down. The Royal County Down Golf Club is the most scenic golf course in GB and Ireland. The original was a 9 hole course started in 1889 but later extended to 18 holes. But don’t let the scenery fool you; the course is brutal, especially if you are an amateur and don’t have a local hand to guide you. But nonetheless, it has its share of admirers - even by those who’ve been beaten up. •

Royal Portrush Golf Club:

The Royal Portrush is perhaps the only golf club to host an open championship in Ireland. It is also set to host the 2019 Open Championship. The course shall be fixed for a major redesign to replace the 17th and 18th hole. The proposed plan also includes adding three bunkers to the 5th hole; this is beside the changes proposed for the 6th, 7th, and 8th hole. •

Royal Dublin Golf Club:

The Royal Dublin is Ireland’s second oldest golf club. It is a private members’ club, but open to guests. You can also book online. They have hosted the Irish Open on several occasions. You can’t miss the beautiful landscape and the wildlife. •

Pine Valley Golf Club:

This one’s in Pine Valley, New Jersey and is one of the world’s best golf courses. Pine Valley isn’t for beginners - the course is an ultimate test of talent. But surprisingly amateurs love the experience of teeing here. When it opened in 1919, it was dubbed the most challenging course of all and an impossible task for anyone to get round in 70 strokes. •

Royal Dornoch Golf Club:

The Royal Dornoch Golf Club is a favorite among amateurs and professionals who’re love to play on the natural links here. The place is isolated yet beautiful. And the best time to play golf

here is summer. Some of the greens are built on naturally raised plateau making it very challenging for players.
