Dice Lounge relaunch TNT Lifestyle Alexia Hendrickson

Protest at the Cornerhouse TNT News Homeless campaigners have taken to the roof of the abandoned Cornerhouse Cinema in the city centre to protest against their eviction. Bailiffs stepped in to move squatters out of the Oxford Street building on 25 April, prompting a rooftop standoff between the police and squatters. The building, next to Oxford Road railway station, had been unoccupied and unused since April 2015, when the cinema moved to the newly opened HOME complex.

Loose Space squatters had, reportedly, been living in the Cornerhouse for a number of months, which offered a safe haven to those on the streets. Group members had taken advantage of the empty building, now owned by Network Rail, using it not only as somewhere to eat and sleep, but also to create. Aiming to show the public the possibilities of autonomous spaces, squatters, both homeless and more fortunate, had turned the disused building back into a centre of creativity. Draping the inside walls with arts and crafts, the

group turned the old cinema into a makeshift gallery, and expressed a desire to show films in the old screening rooms. Squatters had also established a full audio setup, allowing them to put on live music events often running on into the early hours. Campaigners from Loose Space have remained on the roof of the building ever since the eviction notice, hanging flags and banners from the walls and often playing loud music from a stereo. One squatter told local media: “We’re not squatting because we’re homeless.

This is by choice! “We’re here to create an autonomous space for the public to learn about the culture of squatting”. Chris, 42, who is homeless however, also told local media: “We have had people in here every night who were sleeping rough. Every night there is a hot meal that is free for them. “The only thing that is going to end this housing crisis is socially affordable supported living”. The council, who deny claims they are not doing enough to ease the homeless issue, had once talked of demolishing the site.

Perhaps there’s a reason why 007 likes it shaken not stirred. Maybe its the mixture of eclectic flavours. Maybe its the bright and exotic colours or exciting names. Or maybe its because sometimes a pint won’t suffice. Either way, don’t we all love the occasional cocktail? This is where Dice Lounge comes in. Positioned on the corner of bustling Albert and Stockport road in Levenshulme lies this relaunched sophisticated cocktail haven. From a cosmopolitan to an old fashioned, Dice Lounge will tickle your fancy. With a 2-4-1 deal on cocktails all day Wednesday, its hard to say no to the tantalising offers. Having relaunched at the end of April, Dice Lounge have not only revamped their interior, but similarly, their food and cocktail menu. With more signature cocktails, exciting entertainment evenings and special events, you’d be a fool to miss out on Dice Lounge. At TNT, we were treated to the ‘most unique and popular cocktail’, The Dice Punch. The name of the cocktail definitely suits its purpose because it does indeed pack a punch. With equal measures of Wray and Nephew and Malibu, The Dice Punch is a taste of the exotic. The sharp sweetness of lime and pineapple juice bring out the flavours of the overproved rum. Garnished with mint, lemon and a flaming passion fruit, The Dice Punch is a spectacle to taste and behold.

Let get straight to it. Way too much is going on right about now, my head’s in a spin just thinking about it. The main man AJ – as he’s known by his closest friends (yes, myself included *flicking hair*) – Anthony Joshua to you guys, won and is the heavyweight champion of the world. It was a fight that, for many, will define a turning point in British boxing and the heavyweight division. Even former world champion Mike Tyson admitted that both Joshua and Wladimir Klitschko ‘made boxing big again’. Filled with so much drama, either of the men could have emerged victorious. Well done to both but congratulations to “my friend” AJ. Word on the street has it that there may be a re-match. Whilst some welcome the rumour, others think as do I ‘if you get KO once, do you really want to get KO again? Hit me up if you catch my drift. Wait, how much money would Wladimir get though? Maybe it’s okay to get KO a few times! Just keeping it real with you all; don’t judge me. With the general election looming, you guys should most definitely get out and vote. You must be in it to win it. I really can’t help but ponder that it would truly be ‘egg on the Tory party’s face’ if after Theresa May’s U-turn ‘general election announcement’, the Labour Party wins. Remember what they thought about Jeremy Corbyn, Brexit and Donald Trump? I rest my case. Check out page7 - Talking Point we have some great points of discussion this issue. For instance, the man who attempted to kill his wife with a hammer but walks free because he did it out of love for her. More sizzling topics

If you have previously not had a chance to check our other listings and recommendations, then head to our website and click the ‘Lifestyle / Recommended reads’ tab. Moving on, Serena Williams is pregnant and supposedly posted a picture of how far along she is on Snapchat, thus telling the world about it, by accident! Really Serena? Sorry, not buying it. More on this story on Page 16. Online this month ‘Drake’ has allegedly been caught up with a former porn star and a pregnancy scandal. If this is indeed true, then the Hotline Bling’s ‘baby momma’ will definitely be used to the paparazzi’s cameras; so, Drake need not worry about her adjusting to the attention, as she is a pro in front of the lens. Inspiring news this month comes in the form of the Turner Prize shortlist announcement. The Turner Prize just opened up the age limit on entrants to the over 50s and in doing so, Lubaina Himid – over 60 years old – is definitely my favourite to win the UK’s most coveted arts award. Her art work is educational, inspiring, informative, colourful, historical and a truly refreshing change. – Page 3. Last but not least, a special thank you must go out to all the sponsors that contributed to this year’s Easter egg hunt. Until next month, Ciao!

Man raffles £845K manor for £2 TNT News A Lancashire-based man is raffling away his £845K manor to a public market for just £2. Dunstan Low, 37, has chosen to put his Grade II manor on the market in a £2-per-ticket raffle. Low bought his Lancashire home, ‘Melling Manor’ – located near Bolton – for £435,000 in 2011. The father-of-two spent £150,000 renovating the manor, with the process taking more than a year to complete. The home went on the market two years ago after Low began to struggle with mortgage payments. This struggle was a consequence of the ‘huge downturn’ that his online marketing business took. Home-hunters were impressed by the mansion but Low failed to find a buyer. He believes that many were deterred from buying the property as

Hi guys,

Prime Minister Theresa May calls snap general election The Prime Minister, Theresa May’s snap general election surprise announcement outside No.10 has raised a lot of eyebrows. The Prime Minister wants to hold the general election on 8 June. Many have said it is clear that May only called the election because Labour is in the worst position the party has seen in such a long time. According to the leader of the Scottish National Party (SNP) Nicola Sturgeon, May is capitalising on Labour’s current state of affairs and to avoid police investigation into Tory election expenses in 2015. A Conservative party spokeswoman said that Sturgeon’s claims are misplaced and ill-founded.

This election marks a turnaround for the Prime minister who has repeatedly claimed in the past that she was against the idea of early vote. In the surprise statement she stated that opposition parties are jeopardising the government’s preparations for Brexit. May said: “We need a general election and we need one now, because we have at this moment a one-off chance to get this done while the European Union agrees its negotiating position and before the detailed talks begin. “I have only recently and reluctantly come to this conclusion.

Shortlist for the 2017 Turner Prize announced The shortlist for the 2017 Turner Prize has been announced – featuring over 50s for the very first time. The Turner Prize is awarded annually to an artist born, living or working in Britain, for an outstanding exhibition or presentation of their work. Since 1991, the upper age limit for those eligible was 50 but a rule change was confirmed earlier this year. The decision to lift the age limit has had a surprisingly large effect on this year’s four-person shortlist. 62-year-old Lubaina Himid features when she previously would have been ineligible for the award. Himid, who was born in Zanzibar, celebrates black creativity within her work using paintings, prints, drawings and installations. As one of the first artists involved in the Black Art movement in the 1980s, her art focuses on cultural history and identity.

Himid was also appointed MBE in 2010 for “services to Black Women’s Art”. Established in 1984, the Turner Prize is one of the most prestigious international arts awards contributing to growing interest in contemporary art. Also shortlisted for the 2017 prize is 52-year-old painter Hurvin Anderson, who too would have been ineligible in previous years. His work also explores cultural identity - inspired by his Jamaican immigrant parents, often in depictions of Afro-Caribbean barbershops. Anderson’s work has been exhibited in a range of group and solo

exhibitions across the UK and the US. This year’s will be presented at Ferens Art Gallery in Hull as part of the UK City of Culture 2017 programme. The winner, who will receive a £25,000 prize, will be announced at a ceremony live on the BBC on December 5.

Salford Academy students join forces Students from Salford City Academy have gone eco-friendly in support of conservation activities at a local wildlife haven. Academy students have spent the last few weeks working alongside the Chat Moss Project to help tackle a sinking bog. Students worked alongside lizards, snakes, dragonflies, butterflies, newts, water voles and a wide variety of wetland birds. By building bridges, erecting willow fences and encountering the local wildlife, young environmentalists have developed their team building and communication skills. Jon Ritchie, alternative provision manager at Salford City Academy, said: “Our students have really enjoyed the experience. “Particularly the opportunity to explore and learn about their surroundings in a fantastic open air ‘classroom’”. The Chat Moss Project is an exciting five-year scheme which is funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund.

The project aims to restore lowland raised bogs in the Chat Moss area, engaging local communities with the fascinating habitat. Shyan, a Year 7 student at the Academy said: “It’s been good working in the mud! “We’ve been building bridges and taking part in a ‘capture the flag’ activity – all as a team. “I was really excited after our first visit and couldn’t wait to go back”. The Chat Moss Project involves the restoration of the Lancashire Wildlife Trust’s reserves in the Salford area. Lydia McCool, the project’s community engagement officer, said: “Our aim is to inspire local people to visit and experience the site.

A Jamaican woman aged 117 is now the oldest person in the world, after the death of Emma Morano on 15 April 2017. Violet Mosse Brown became the oldest after her fellow supercentenarian Ms. Morano, from Italy, died aged 117. A supercentenarian is someone who has lived to or passed the age of 110. Ms. Brown is the first ever verified supercentenarian from Jamaica. She lives in Trelawny, in the same house she was born. Last year she told the Jamaica Observer in an interview: “I live by the grace of God and I am proud of my age!” It is also reported that her 96-year-old son Harold Fairweather is believed to be the oldest person with a living parent. He told the Jamaican Observer: “She likes fish and mutton and sometimes she will have cow foot.” “But she does not eat pork or chicken.” Ms. Brown also likes to eat sweet potatoes, breadfruit, Irish potatoes, oranges and mangos. Jamaica’s Prime Minister, Andrew Holness took to twitter to send a congratulatory tweet to Ms. Brown who turned 117 last month. Holness said: “The world’s oldest human is Jamaican Violet Brown, who was born on March 10, 1900. Congrats Violet.” Before Ms. Morano’s death on Saturday she was the last surviving person from the 1800’s. After Violet Brown the second and third oldest people alive are Japanese women, Nabi Tajima and Chiyo Miyako, who were born in 1900 and 1901.

British Vogue appoints first-ever black male editor TNT News For the first time in its 100-year history, British Vogue has appointed a black male editor. Ghanaian born Edward Enninful will replace the existing Vogue editor, Alexandra Shulman in August. Edward will be Vogue’s 11th editor. He will also be the first-ever black male editor of a mainstream British fashion publication. The 45-year-old’s career to date has seen him work for Italian Vogue, American Vogue and most recently W Magazine. Whilst Enninful’s new position has seen overwhelming support, others have raised a gender-based issue asking why the new editor is a man when the fashion magazine is predominately aimed at women. Some have suggested that there should have

been more female journalists or stylists of colour shortlisted for the title. Many however have leapt to Enninful’s support saying that reducing Enninful’s achievements to his gender isn’t just disappointing (although it certainly is that), it’s genuinely offensive. The new editor’s friends include celebrities like Kate Moss and Naomi Campbell. Gushing with support, Campbell wrote on her Instagram page: “I never thought I would see this day !! Congratulations @ edward_enninful OBE your deserve this !!!

I’m truly Happy for you words cannot describe how I feel for you right now. And for what you will do in bringing people together being at the Helm of @britishvogue. God is the greatest!!! I Love you #EDITORINCHIEF #EDWARD ENNINFUL OBE #BRITISH VOGUE”. Enninful has overcome many hurdles on the way to champion diversity, something the fashion industry desperately needs. And all people can say is, ‘Yeah but he’s a W Magazine man’?

Detective Chief Inspector Terry Crompton, of GMP’s Major Incident Team, said: “Not content with committing the brutal and disturbing murder of his friend, Jiang sought to hide his crimes by abandoning and burning his body before stealing his identity, emptying his bank account and trying to sell his property”. Paying tribute to him, Liu’s family said: “The pain we’re suffering is beyond words. We think of our son all the time and we strongly condemn the brutality of the murderer.

On Wednesday 5 April 2017, he was sentenced to life in prison at Manchester Crown Court. Hill was sentenced with a minimum term of six years. He has been ordered to sign the sex offender’s register for life. Hill approached a 22-year-old woman shortly after 7am on Saturday 6 February 2016. In the video, Gaga is seen in her kitchen in her Hollywood home speaking to the Queen’s grandson. “There is a lot of shame attached to mental illness, you feel like something’s wrong with you”, Gaga said. “We have to make the strongest, most relentless attempt we can to normalise mental health issues, so that people feel like they can come forward,” she added. The video was watched over 500,000 times within just hours of its release. It forms as part of the Heads Together campaign, a mental health charity championed by The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry. The video came just days after Harry revealed that he spent years in “total chaos” as he struggled to deal with his emotions following the death of his mother, Princess Diana, when he was just 12. The pair said they want to continue working together and focus on the youth. They made plans to have an October meeting in the UK. Gaga praised both William and Harry for the ‘beautiful stories’ they told.

Thousands have disability vehicles taken away TNT News In a controversial new scheme, more than 50,000 disabled people have had their specially adapted vehicles taken away by the Government. The Motability scheme entitles disabled people to use part of their benefit to hire a new car, scooter or powered wheelchair. However, the new disability benefit PIP (Personal Independence Payments) means that thousands of people are now being denied Motability as they transfer over from disability living allowance (DLA). Since PIP was launched in 2013, the number of people eligible for Motability funding has halved during the reassessment process. According to the charity Muscular Dystrophy UK, 900 cars are now being taken away every week. MPs and campaigners are now demanding changes to the Motability

programme, so vehicles are not taken away before claimants have had a chance to appeal against their decision. The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) says a fraction of PIP decisions are overturned, while those taken off the Motability scheme are eligible for £2,000 of support. Muscular Dystrophy UK is now calling on the DWP to reverse a fiercely contested change in the rules. To qualify for the higher level of the mobility component of PIP, which is needed to get a Motability vehicle, a person must be unable to walk unaided for 20 metres, compared with the previous distance of 50 metres under DLA. This Easter Sunday, HOH held its annual Easter Egg Hunt (EEH) at Alexandra Park, Whalley Range, like never before. Following the growing success of the event in previous years, HOH decided to join forces with TNT for the fourth year running. As a result, the annual Easter Egg Hunt has become a community occasion for all the family. Periodically alternating from sunshine to showers, volunteers scurried to help set-up the gazebo. As the Egg hunting kicked off, parents cheered on their little ones, from toddlers to 6-14 year-olds. Face painting was available for all children, with games including piñata and 100metre sprint racing. Not even the rainy spells could stop the partying spirit. In the gazebo, there were plenty of cakes, drinks and tombola. This provided the shelter for the treats and egg hunters to hide from the rain outside the canopy. Husband who took a hammer to wife spared jail

TNT News Schools in Manchester have banned the use of ‘fidget spinners’ in classrooms after claims they cause a distraction to learning. Fidget spinners and cubes are the latest craze on the toy market, and are believed to relieve stress among pupils. The ‘bottle flip challenge’ and Pokemon Go appear to have fallen behind the new spinners in the toy rankings. The hand-held toys, which come in a range of colours and shapes, have also proved particularly beneficial to children with disorders such as ADHD. Held simply between finger and thumb, the toy spins around in a strangely addictive fashion. Children, as well as adults, are reportedly using them in attempts to stave off anxiety and in ‘spinning competitions’. But some schools in the region have decided to ban the spinners after concerns over the classroom time they consume. All Hallows RC High School in Salford is one of the schools to have done this. The school sent out a text message to parents informing them of the new ban. It read: “As from Wednesday 26 April fidget spinners are banned from All Hallows. “They are a distraction to learning and can be dangerous. Any fidget spinners seen in school will be confiscated”. The decision to ban the toys has since been questioned by some parents of children with learning difficulties. Nikki Ashcroft, from Wigan, had recently bought a fidget spinner and cube for her 10-year-old son, who has ASD. She told local media: “Now that they’re being banned in schools it means he will have to lose an aid that is extremely beneficial to him.

Employers can force women to wear heels TNT News Employers can continue to force female employees to wear heels as the government has rejected a change in the law. Heels became a hot topic in Britain after receptionist Nicola Thorp was sent home without pay from finance firm PwC in December 2015 for wearing flat shoes. Outraged, she launched a petition to tighten legislation on compulsory gendered uniforms, which gathered 152,400 signatures. Thorp triggered a debate in Parliament. Women must still wear heels provided it is considered a job requirement and men are made to dress to an “equivalent level of smartness”. The Government has ruled out a change in the law because it believes the existing legislation is “adequate”. It also believes the current law already prevents companies from gender-based discrimination. Thorp presented evidence before the Petitions and Women and Equalities Committees. Here, MPs also heard that a black woman had been forced to chemically straighten her hair. The company that forced her to do so was an agency which provides temp workers to

Instead, the Government Equalities Office has called on all employers to review their dress codes and “consider whether they remain relevant and lawful”. It also plans to produce new guidelines in the summer to improve workers’ awareness of their rights.

Beddows attacked 88-yearold Olive after she begged him to take her life because she dreaded being taken into care. He told police afterwards, ‘I have made a mess of it and now she is still suffering. She is the most beautiful woman in the world and I have made it worse. I would happily be a murderer’. Mrs Beddows suffered multiple skull fractures but is making ‘a good recovery’ after the attack in February, Liverpool crown court heard. The couple’s 65-year marriage was ‘perfect and happy’ but after Mrs Beddows was involved in a car accident she became ‘petrified’ about going into hospital or a home. Anya Horwood, prosecuting, said Mrs Beddows ha become ‘more anxious’ in the weeks preceding the attack, with her mental health described as ‘fragile’. TNT News Muslim father’s support for his teenage daughter if she chose to not wear a hijab trends on Twitter. A Muslim girl’s father, who should unwavering support if she chose to remove her hijab, has grabbed mass media attention. The 17-year-old tweeted a screenshot of a conversation with her father in Saudi Arabia. After telling him she was considering removing the item, he said he would support her ‘no matter what’. Lamyaa posted the screen shot after a boy in a group chat told her that her father would likely beat her were she to take off her headscarf. Lamyaa told the BBC that she did not actually intend to take her scarf off: “It was never part of the plan. I just wanted to prove a point”. “When I saw how sweet my dad’s response was I felt that this proved something; it proved that misconceptions are often made about people who end up being the exact opposite”. Many messaged Lamyaa support following her post, and she added that some even said it changed their views on the hijab. However, other Twitter users felt differently commenting: ‘Frankly, it’s unfortunate that girls like myself DON’T get media attention for speaking up on our plight of forced religious practices’. Lamyaa’s tweet has now received more than145,000 retweets and more than 300,000 likes. Some users responded back to Lamyaa with criticism, saying that her father was in the minority of Muslim men, and there are plenty of Muslim women who are forced to wear coverings by their fathers and husbands. The teenager responded that she was not trying to say women forced to wear the covering do not exist, she was simply explaining that the hijab is not supposed to symbolise oppression. She’s also using this little bit of internet fame to educate others about Islam and what it actually stands for.

Akua Naru returns to Manchester

Natasha Watts to support Shalamar at Manchester Academy TNT Entertainment

Ralf Schulze

TNT Entertainment ‘‘I have written, sung, and performed since I can remember having my first thoughts. I have never discovered the music; the music and rhyme discovered me”. Akua Naru, the internationally acclaimed hip-hop artist is set to perform in Manchester this May. Born and raised in New Haven in America, she has toured the world. She currently resides and makes music in Cologne, Germany. 38-year-old Akua Nura – real name Latanya Hinton – is most known for her smooth and soulful sounds. Songs such as ‘Poetry: how does it feel?’, ‘Runaway’ and ‘Take a Ride’ are some of her best. ‘Nag Champa’ is also a hit that proved popular amongst fans. In 2011, she released her debut album, ‘The Journey Aflame’. In her songs she deals with the power every human being yields. Akua Naru hits Manchester on Thursday 18th May at Band on the Wall. The event will start at 7pm and last until approximately 11pm. Unlike the tensions of R&B, Naru’s live jazz setting easily inhabits Naru’s double entendre of meanings. Her use of textual metaphors such as speech and writing, add a discursive aspect to the performance, turning lines of poetry into thoughts rather than kaleidoscopic images. Rather than plant flag posts to Yoruba gods, her music often gives a lover’s discourse in a meditative setting, attributed to the call and response structure of jazz. Linked to other notable greats in her genre like Lauryn Hill, MC Lyte plus neosoul legend Jill Scott, Naru has fast become a name worthy of respect. “She encompasses the originality that the likes of J Dilla and Lauryn Hill had, whilst also bringing her own unique creativity and procovative dialogue throughout her songs. She is deep man”, Sheffield rapper JKas told TNT News. Attendees will also hear the likes of Jalen N’Gonda, a support act for Naru’s show.

Soul singer Natasha Watts is in town on Saturday 29 April to support Shalamar at the Manchester Academy. Watts, who has over 10 number 1’s in the UK soul chart, is joining the American R&B trio for their headline show. The ‘Go Slow’ and ‘Won’t Let Go’ singer has two solo albums and has previously supported acts like Gladys Knight. Watts burst onto the soul scene in 2009 with her collaboration with Cool Million in a track called ‘Show Me’. Since then she has released well over 100 tracks - collaborating with other credible artists and selling out numerous shows. Currently, Watts has a UK collaboration hit with Omar titled ‘Insatiable’. In 2016, Watts supported American funk and disco group The Fatback Band on their UK tour. The singer is back performing in Manchester as part of her own UK tour in September. For now however, Watts will be teaming up with Shalamar, who rose to fame throughout the 1970s and 80s. Well-known for 70s hits such as ‘A Night to Remember’, their tenth studio album ‘Wake Up’ was released in 1990. Any remaining tickets for this night to remember can be purchased on Ticketmaster for £30.25 including booking fees. Funk Dooby

Manchester band creates revolutionary music video TNT Entertainment Manchester band Shaking Chains has created a new revolutionary music video for their debut single Midnight Oil. The Midnight Oil music video is very different to typical videos as it is ever-changing and never the same. Innovative and creative, the music video uses an algorithm to create a new music video for viewers each time. Shaking Chains has been receiving much attention for their ‘dislocated’ music in recent months. Now they are receiving the same kind of attention for their ‘bizarre’ but ‘brilliant’ music video. Short footage is pieced together as the band’s Midnight Oil track plays. Computer technology, known as “a machine”, creates the unique music videos. The idea was created by the band’s drummer, Jack Hardiker . Hardiker said the machine “pulls

clips from the internet based on search terms”. “It started with 600 [terms], based on the contents of the song”, Hardiker said. The music video is also a “reflection on society right now, warts and all.” The new music video is all for ‘surrendering ownership over art’. Exploring music video-making in this way has allowed the band to respond to the way algorithms control modern life. There are over 100 search terms used to create the video and they are constantly changing. The band is also beginning to introduce machine learning. That way the music video will work by itself and produce its own search terms. The ‘fascinating’ video can be viewed from the video’s website. On the website, viewers are told “This film is just for you. Made by a machine, moments ago”. Shaking Chains - Topic

Tinie Tempah reminisces with Bugsy Malone Tinie Tempah So Close ft Guy Sebastian & Bugzy Malone

sunday blog playlist - mcr Grime

TNT Entertainment Bugsy Malone adds the Manchester grit and grime to the track as he reminisces. Bugsy is a great storyteller and succeeds in painting a clear picture. Unlike many rappers, Bugsy pays homage to those that have inspired and influenced him, paving the way for him. Bugsy pays homage to Giggs, Nines and K Kiko. Critics believe that the ‘moody’ track is a great fit for Bugsy’s style. The track slows down at the end as a flute brings some kind of peaceful resolution.

TNT Blog Manchester is renowned as the centre of Britain’s rich music history. We were home to the working class sounds of Oasis, The Smiths and The Stone Roses. But times have changed, and more recently, Grime is making waves in the world of music. And it’s only set to get bigger and better. Although London produced the likes of Stormzy, Boy Better Know and Skepta, Manchester is churning out talent and we’re here to show you. Here at TNT, we’ve compiled a list of the top grime songs we’re currently listening to:

Channel 4 News

Featured on Tinie Tempah’s, third studio album, ‘So Close’ is a nostalgic and self-reflective melody. Guy Sebastian opens the track, providing a smooth, soulful and passionate chorus. His vocals are perfect throughout; he doesn’t fail in his delivery. Tinie then enters the track, bringing his lyrical talent. As Tinie enters, the tempo of the beat increases and an instrumental disconnect is established. The beat throws you off; it is not in harmony with the lyrics. Tinie reminisces and reflects on the early days of his career. Whilst reflecting, he looks back at a broken friendship which turned into an unresolved ‘fight’. At the start of his career, Tinie is ‘so Close’ to his friend – a young protégée. They are both rising stars. Tinie is making the ‘mandem proud’ and his friend is ‘comfortable’ trying to be the best in his area. The track progresses, seeing Tinie illustrate his desire to fulfil his dreams and his journey to success. On the way he begins to lose sight of the friend he was once so close to. Instead of love being shown, his friend begins to behave ‘darky’.

Women can get paid less than men, court rules

TNT Business A US federal appeals court has rules that employers are legally allowed to pay women lower salaries than men for the same work. The decision by the 9th US Circuit Court of Appeals overturned a previous lower-court ruling, according to Associate Press (AP). The previous ruling had pay difference cased only on prior salaries were discriminatory under the country’s Equal Pay Act. Women’s earlier salaries are likely to be lower than men’s because of gender bias, US Magistrate Judge Michael Seng said in a 2015 decision, according to AP. A three-judge panel of the 9th Circuit cited a 1982 ruling by the court that said employers could use previous salary information as long as they applied it reasonably and had a business policy that justified it. “This decision is a step in the wrong direction if we’re trying to really ensure that women have work opportunities of equal pay,” said Deborah Rhode. Rhode teaches gender equity law at Stanford Law School, according to the agency. “You can’t allow prior discriminatory salary setting to justify future ones or you perpetuate the discrimination”.

This session is suitable for “people who don’t want to run around too much but want to play basketball”. The club works to promote equality. The Walking Basketball session ensures that people who may have impairments are included.
