A Word from Your Co-Historian: Theodora Winter Hello everyone, my name is Theodora Winter and I am your coHistorian (alongside Michael Isenburg) for the 2014-2015 Speech and Debate season and I’m so excited to write these newsletters! In my 3 years of being on varsity, I’ve competed in Novice LD, Oratory, Prose, Duo, Public Fourm and Extempt. I enjoy all things Speech and Debate, reading the news, volunteering, sports and the color purple. This year I hope to keep you all up to date with the wonderful memories captured each time our team is together so that you may also feel apart of our team! We really appreciate all the support that you all give us and by the end of this year, I assure you that all of the time, money and effort you spent investing in this team will all be worth it! Please make an effort to keep up to date with how we are doing, we love having all the support we can receive! Hopefully by the end of this year you will see all of our faces at TFA state, NIETOC and NSDA Nationals!

Memories

Workshop: No Fear, No Regrets One of my favorite events of the first semester is the debate workshop, which always features great music, a great theme and great people! The theme this year is “No Fear, No Regrets……Go for It!” and I challenge you all to leave your fear at the door before when you enter into a room to compete! In class, we discussed the importance of being confident and fearless in order to do your best, so please take that with you throughout the year and especially when you feel like the odds are stacked against you. Each person was on a team with assigned color (shout out to the Orange Team) and we all engaged in a bit of healthy competition. It’s always nice to have the team together, especially since we are now separated into two class periods! Even though the interpers and debaters appear to be polar opposites, we actually have a lot in common. Don’t believe me? I think the pictures below speak for themselves. Group activities are always fun when you have 40 people rolling around on the ground, acting like they’re in a jungle, an assassin or rushing to the emergency room. I personally enjoy all things pantomime because some of the things you guys come up with are so genius, you can’t help but marvel. This workshop definitely brought us together as a team, while also preparing us for Princeton and the rest of the year! I sincerely hope our energy and drive to do well continues on to the end of this year. I also hope we can keep strengthening the bonds we have between each other so we can grow into one big happy family! Teamwork makes the dream work! I can’t wait to see al of you at state! Yours truly, -Theo
