The results of the Roncesvalles Neighbourhood Survey are in and residents have spoken. When it comes to what they like the most about Roncesvalles, it’s also what they like the least and that’s the available shops and services. “There’s two sides to every coin. It’s at the very top of what we like, but there are some residents who are somewhat concerned of the changing nature of the stores,” Aaron Caplan, a member of the Roncesvalles-Macdonnell Residents Association (RMRA) executive committee, told The Villager at the monthly RMRA meeting. According to Caplan, residents’ responses indicated while they still love shopping on Roncesvalles, they feel the original businesses that support the everyday life of the community are quickly being replaced with chic boutiques, coffee shops, other franchises and bars.
