A committed hockey fan, now in his 80s, Bob can rattle off the rosters of Maple Leaf players back to the 1940s. “I am a very avid Toronto Maple Leafs fan,” Bob said. “Right now they are on a roll.” He watches every game he can on the television, but has always hoped to make it to a game. So when he was given the opportunity to enter a wish into a draw at his home, Fairview Nursing Home near Dundas and Dufferin streets, his choice was clear. His wish was to attend a live game of his favourite team. Bob (the nursing home asked his last name not be used) has only been to one or two Maple Leafs games in his life and that was in his teens with his father at Maple Leaf Gardens. Ab i o l a Aw o s a n y a , t h e Recreation Therapy Programs Manager at Fairview Nursing Home, explained the Wish Program there was started in 2012. Fairview supports the Wish Program by fundraising with bake sales, craft sales and events. The local community is welcome to contribute to these events and can do so by calling Fairview.
