Annual Report 2023–2024

We are grateful to you — our community.

The Pegasus School is a special place where bright, curious minds are encouraged to grow and soar. Your generosity helps us to provide the best possible education and environment for our teachers and students, and to advance the mission of The Pegasus School. Thank you for partnering with us to create exceptional experiences for our community.

We are Pegasus!

Our Mission

To inspire bright, curious minds to become confident, compassionate leaders.

Our Story

The story of Pegasus begins with intellectual curiosity and compassion.

We are a vibrant academic community that inspires bright, motivated students to discover and develop their unique gifts. Teachers and students build trusting relationships that foster a sense of belonging, self-reliance, and innovative thinking.

A pre-K–8 Pegasus education equips students to achieve future academic success and make a positive impact on society.

Dear Pegasus Community,

As we reflect on the past year and look forward to the future, we are reminded of the invaluable role The Pegasus School plays in our lives. Our school is not just an institution of learning; it is a place where our community connects, grows, and thrives together. In a time when technology often dominates our interactions, The Pegasus School prioritizes meaningful, face-to-face connections. These connections are essential, not only for our children, but for us as adults as well, fulfilling our innate need for belonging and community.

Philanthropy plays a crucial role in sustaining andenhancing this

unique environment. Your generous donations directly support our dedicated teachers, enabling them to innovate and stay abreast of research-based best practices. These practices are vital for fostering deep thinking, high levels of learning, and the development of emotional intelligence and social skills in our classrooms. Our commitment to educational excellence is reflected in our continuous efforts to provide the best resources, flexible learning spaces, and opportunities for our students and staff.

Thanks to your unwavering support, we have achieved remarkable milestones this past year. The Geisler Family WINGS, Osgood Family Library, Michael Le & Tita

Nguyen Family Groves, and Trautman Family Playground are complete, and these new spaces will empower both teachers and students to collaborate and thrive.

We also renovated the Lower School Commons (formerly the old library) by expanding the teacher workspace and creating a dynamic area for our Lower School students to share their projects and learn from one another. In addition to these amazing projects, we also exceeded the 2023-2024 annual giving goal, a testament to the generosity of the Pegasus community.

As we look ahead, your continued generosity is more important than ever. By contributing to our

fundraising events, The Pegasus Fund, and our recent Roots to Grow, Wings to Soar Capital Campaign, you are investing in a vibrant community that values connection, innovation, and academic excellence. Together, we can ensure that our school is a place where every child feels valued and every teacher is equipped to inspire their charges to be future leaders who make a difference in our world. Together we will further the vision of The Pegasus School as a place where bright minds soar. With gratitude and appreciation,

FROM THE BOARD CHAIR

Dear Pegasus Community,

On behalf of the Board of Trustees, I want to thank you for your extraordinary generosity to The Pegasus School.

The Pegasus community’s dedication, through time volunteered, talents shared, and financial support, bolstered the School’s ability to deliver a well-rounded educational experience with exceptional academic, social-emotional, athletic, artistic, and extracurricular programs. This past year we witnessed the true power of collective giving through the Annual Fund, our Spring Celebration, and the successful completion of our two phase Roots to Grow, Wings to Soar Capital Campaign, which included the Kazu Fukuda Science and Technology Building and the Geisler Family WINGS.

Thank you for paving the way for transformative changes that will have a lasting impact on students, faculty, staff, and the entire Pegasus community for years to come.

The Board is dedicated to supporting our new Head of School, continuing to strengthen our financial resources, and charting our course with the new strategic plan.

Your involvement and generosity help to propel this vibrant learning community forward, for the benefit of our students today and for generations to come.

With Gratitude,

COMMITTEES AND BOARD

Thank you for your leadership!

We choose to donate to The Pegasus School for several important reasons. Firstly, we believe in the value of a high-quality education and recognize the benefits of smaller class sizes, dedicated teachers, and enriched learning experiences that private schools often provide. By contributing to the school, we directly support these advantages for our daughter and her peers. Additionally, our contributions assist in enhancing the school’s facilities, curriculum, and extracurricular activities, ultimately enriching our daughter’s educational journey. By giving back to her school, we aim to play a role in its continuous improvement and success, fostering a sense of community and shared responsibility for the institution that plays a crucial role in shaping our daughter’s future.

Our family loves this community a lot. Our third grader takes great pride in being a Pegasus kid. Assisting others is an inherently gratifying and fulfilling endeavor. It aligns with a long-standing tradition in Chinese culture where previous generations generously contributed to the education of all children in their community — be it their village or town—for the benefit of their own children and others.

On a personal note, as newcomers to both this country and the Pegasus community, we want to embrace the new values and rules. Furthermore, we aspire to earn respect as valued members through our contributions, without solely benefiting from the contributions of others. We are hopeful that our acts of giving will strengthen bonds, foster positive connections, and bring joy to everyone involved. We aim to set an example for the next generation, encouraging them to follow suit and excel in their own lives.

— TERENCE TSO & AILEEN WANG

Transferring our eldest daughter to Pegasus in first grade was a pivotal moment for our family. We sought a school that could nurture her talents and provide a supportive, enriching education. The positive experiences and exceptional growth our daughters have enjoyed at Pegasus played a crucial role in our decision to support the WINGS building. The school has become an integral part of our family’s journey, and we are honored to give back to such a wonderful community.

FROM THE PTO PRESIDENT

Dear Pegasus Community,

As President of the Pegasus Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) for the 2023-2024 school year, I would like to extend my sincerest appreciation to each member of our Pegasus community for your invaluable contributions and unwavering support this past year. This was a truly special year as Pegasus celebrated its 40th year anniversary!

The successes we achieved together over the past year are due in large part to our volunteers. Signature events like Fall Serve, where we created gratitude bags for Laura’s House, a local charitable organization, and our new Spring Serve/Earth Day event with our theme, “Service to Earth” brought our community together for an important purpose. Our monthly PEG LOVE recognized the hard

work of our faculty and staff with a special meal or gift of gratitude, and we welcomed several hundred grandparents and special friends to campus for Generations Day with a breakfast, community gathering, classroom and campus visits, and photo and craft booths.

As we look forward to the future at Pegasus, I am excited about both the opportunities that lie ahead. Thank you, parents, for your active involvement and endless generosity. Whether you have donated your time, resources, or ideas, your contributions have not gone unnoticed and are greatly appreciated. Together we will continue to build a strong, supportive, and collaborative community — where bright minds soar.

With heartfelt appreciation and gratitude,

Thank You for Your Time!
