MONTHLY ISSUE Look out for Division & Club Updates!

Hello Hello Purple Penguins! Welcome to 2021! Eight months have already passed this term -- thank you for the unforgettable memories we have made, even in these times. We may only have four more months until the end of the term, but that doesn't mean we should stop service! We are now extremely close to approaching our service hours goal and making great progress with our fundraising goal. Remember to keep working hard to serve your home, school, and communities! As the term winds down, recognition is starting! This month, be sure to check out all of the contests you can apply for on the CNH CyberKey. Also consider joining the Division Judging Committee, which is an excellent way to get more involved in our division, especially if you do not currently have an officer position! This month, be ready to participate in service and bonding opportunities, prepare for officer elections in the coming weeks and months, and keep your eye out for District and International events. At the end of the month is our special January DCM/Conclave, where we will elect the 2021-22 Division 34 South Lieutenant Governor! As always, please do not hesitate to contact me if you ever have any questions or concerns. Good luck with the start of second semester and see you at this month's division events!

Waddling in Service,

CHERYL BAI

Hello Key-ute Penguins! Happy 2021 everyone!! Wooo so excited- hope you all had a good holidays~ Can't believe it has already been a year! We have been in distance-learning for so long that I can't feel my legs anymore :') Now that we are starting a new year, it's time for some goals! Woo! I've learned that new years goals tend to only last until February, but sometimes, just taking mental goals for what you want to accomplish for that year usually works out if you put your mind to it! It even works if you try to do it every day, every week, every month... every whatever! Just remember to keep goals realistic. Anything realistically achievable within a given time frame will happen if you put enough effort and passion into it. Constantly reminding yourself of the positive parts of a goal will help you accomplish it way faster, trust me. It is also good to remember why you want to achieve this in the first place. Is this beneficial to you? Your friends? Your family? It's good to keep these in mind when trying to motivate yourself to finish these goals by its mental deadline. Even though goals can seem rough, always remember to treat yourself! Even the effort of wanting to create a goal for yourself is a big achievement since its the very first step! Don't feel afraid to step out of your comfort zone. In the long run, one step will take you a long way. Trust yourself! You got this!! Have a good year! :D

CUPERTINO

This month, we’ve continued our weekly service sessions and are on our 8th service session in a row! Because our school still prohibits any kind of in-person activity, we have just been doing virtual service like Beanbeanbean, Color-of-a-Smile, Amara Editor, Dog Toy Making, and so on! We’ve had two member meetings this month: The first one, our members voted on a family theme and names (Avatar: The Last Airbender elements). The latter meeting was also the last meeting of the semester, so we decided to make it super special by including a friendly family competition! We basically played an online scavenger hunt where families were given a list of tasks and whoever finished first won!

FREMONT

-----

GUNN -----

HOMESTEAD

Our club has been consistently holding general meetings and providing service projects for our members. We also launched our new website to provide members with resources they may need all in one place.

LYNBROOK

MENLO-ATHERTON

MA Key was super busy in November. We held a boba fundraiser at the beginning of the month for PTP, we co-hosted a game night with Los Altos, and we had a club Charity Miles competition to raise money for March of Dimes.

MOUNTAIN VIEW

We introduced a few new partner projects with our school, including one where we donate essentials to a family in need at Mountain View High School, and another donation drive for grocery store gift cards, also for people in need at our school. Our club has also launched a new member recognition system as well as an official proposal form for members to submit service project ideas and have the chance to lead them.

PALO ALTO -----

Presidents: please submit your monthly newsletter summaries! 13

MEMBER RECOGNITION SYSTEM

MOUNTAIN VIEW

This isn't an event but more a visual for a member recognition system at the club level to recognize our members for going to meetings, DCMs, paying dues, and attending events. The system will be going on till the end of the school year and we will have awards at the end of each semester for the members that had the highest points.

14

SERVICE PROJECT PROPOSAL FORM

MOUNTAIN VIEW

This also is not an event but a form where members have the chance to submit different ideas about different service project ideas and can possibly lead the project if they want to. Not only will this earn them a good amount of points, but it will also give them a chance to run a project.

MEMBERSHIP DUES; MEMBER MEETING GRAPHICS

CUPERTINO

The membership dues graphic was to encourage donations to support our club (entire month). The meeting graphic was to set a reminder for our member meeting. (12/2/2020) This meeting was the last meeting of the year so we made a scavenger hunt game.

15

BOTTLES/CANS DRIVE FUNDRAISER

LYNBROOK

The 3 biggest service clubs at our school (Key Club, Interact, and CSF) collaborated to host an inter-club bottles/can drive. This event was a competition between the 3 schools to see which one could raise the most money. It lasted for 2 weeks, and we were able to collect hundreds of bottles and cans for charity.
