MONTHLY ISSUE Look out for Division & Club Updates!

Hello Hello Purple Penguins! Happy March! This month marks one whole year of quarantine - and one month left of the 2020-21 term. With District Convention on the horizon, we are winding down on our final service and fundraising projects. Just last month, we recorded the highest total service hours in recent Division 34 South history! Now, let's work even harder to reach our membership and fundraising goals. During this time, elections season is starting to begin! For all underclassmen, I wish you the best of luck as you pursue any officer position. Remember to set tangible goals, rehearse your speeches, and always keep your passion for Key Club, regardless of any outcomes. And to my seniors, congratulations on your final term - make sure to end it out with a bang! This month, look for our March DCM hosted by Cupertino Key Club, the Mr. Key Club male pageant, service projects, fundraisers, spirit gear, and more! Check out the Kiwanis DCM on the 17th, and prepare for a virtual DCON in April! As always, please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions, comments, or concerns. Read on in DNE Alayna's newsletter for information about March of Dimes, a spotlight on what I've been up to in February, club updates, and much more. See you at our March events!

Waddling in Service,

CHERYL BAI

Hello Key-ute Penguins! Happy happy March everyone! Can't believe it's getting close to a year since we started quarantine! For how long we have stayed inside, it is amazing how we have all managed to keep ourselves especially sane when it came to socializing with others. Look at us now, we are finding our way around improving our daily social life by taking on through the great adventures of online platforms! Thank you all for your consistent support in Key Club as we continue to host events online/through Zoom. Especially when it comes to more online service events, I know how tiring and repetitive it can get but I want to thank you for continuing to stay involved and pulling through with service! I also want to give special thanks to the Service Projects Committee and Public Relations Committee for both of their individual effort to keep up during these times to help us DLT members out! The way you all have been able to help us out finish this term out has been great and we have been able to do so much more with our division despite this being the first time we're doing this! I hope you all have a wonderful beginning of the month and remember how far we have come! It's unbelievable!

Waddling in Service,

ALAYNA LEE

March of Dimes

CUPERTINO

This month, we had two officer meetings and two member meetings. We reflected on the year so far and set goals for the remainder of the term (now we're EXTRA pumped!!). In the member meetings, we permanently designated a slide for division/district updates, recognized a member of the month (along with the usual announcements and updates), and played club-wide soulmate and jack box games as an icebreaker bonding during our meetings. We also mailed in our second round of membership dues. As usual, we held weekly service sessions (excluding conclave weekend) with two rounds of color-of-a-smile and one round of bookmark making.

FREMONT

-----

GUNN -----

HOMESTEAD

Our club is providing a variety of service projects to members, and this month, we have a social and fundraiser for them to participate in. We have also chosen two junior officers that will shadow us and help out with the behind the scenes of the club. We want to best prepare for the officer elections coming up.

13

LOS ALTOS

-----

LYNBROOK

We have just onboarded a four interns into the officer team. They help us brainstorm new ideas and are free to execute their own events and plans. We still conduct our 2 monthly and 1 weekly events. Members were able to drop off all of the crafts they have made to Lynbrook last week so that we can finally donate them. Furthermore, we will be starting "Goosechase" next week, which is an app that tracks how many "tasks" members do. We will be making these service tasks so that members can earn points during break as well!

MENLO-ATHERTON

We spent January doing a lot of Zooniverse and planning for bigger projects later in the new year. Those projects include a homeless shelter supply drive, our elections, and fundraisers.

MONTA VISTA

MOUNTAIN VIEW

We had a blast at conclave and all of the division-wide service events! Our club has also begun to prepare for election season this past month, and we cannot wait to see who will be leading Mountain View Key Club next term.

PALO ALTO -----

Presidents: please submit your monthly newsletter summaries! 15

CLUB OFFICER ELECTIONS

MOUNTAIN VIEW

The visuals are not about an event rather they are describing the duties of club officers so members know what each position does and whether or not they want to apply to that position.

DOG TOY MAKING/SERVICE SESSION RECAP/MEMBER OF THE MONTH/MEETING REMINDER

CUPERTINO

The dog toy making is our event of the month. Here our members used old t-shirts and DIY-ed them into toys! Then we have the service session recap which we do at the end of each month to acknowledge those who participated. Next, we started announcing members of the month to encourage people to be more active. This month' s member was Susan Chen for attending almost every service session. Lastly, is our regular meeting reminder graphic.

17

KINDNESS ROCKS

LYNBROOK

Our club hosted the Kindness Rock service event throughout the month of January as a way to help battle depression. Members collected rocks around their neighborhood and painted kind messages/cute pictures onto them. After they finished painting, they dropped the rocks around their neighborhood to hopefully provide a bit of happiness to someone in need.
